So, I know what you guys are thinking – don't you usually prefer to write multi-chapters and not drabbles? But do not fear! I can do both and I have epic stories planned. Show Yourself will be on the longer side and I have a crossover coming up. This is just to get into the groove of a newer fandom and well, I have weekly prompts now in my discord servers which help me get shorter stuff done when I work full-time. This is based on the song 'That's what friends are for' by Dionne Warwick.

Zuko had never known what friendship meant until he became friends with Aang and the others. Fighting to survive – to restore his honour and then just learn to be content when it was restored, it had felt it was eating him up inside. He had what he wanted. A perfect girlfriend that was easily approved by the Fire Nation and was a good kisser to boot, so what more could he want, right? But despite having everything, he felt more alone than ever.

Until he made the decision to join Aang and his friends. Being with them hadn't been easy but once they accepted him, he felt he had finally found the place where he belonged. The Avatar who he had been chasing around a lot, just spending a little bit of time with him, he couldn't help but want to protect this idiot kid with his life. As he clung to him when they had gone to face the original Firebending masters or insisting that he give him some of his flame.

The thought that this innocent kid would have to face his father made him want to train Aang even harder. Even when he protested – even when the kid wanted to rest, he didn't want Aang's rest to be permanent. He didn't want any of them to be lost in this war. Sokka had such a big future ahead of him, he was an inspiration to the young boys of the water tribe. Toph was a living example that you could not allow what others thought to overrule you. Aang had a big destiny but more than that, if he wasn't ready for his father, not only was everyone doomed but it really would be the last of the airbenders. Katara…the first person to ever believe in him even before he was a part of their team. To let him back in the team even though she still didn't trust him. But when he had won it back, the hug she gave him, he didn't want to let her go but he also knew he couldn't hold her forever. All of them together…they made him want to be the best version of himself. They made him want to restore the balance, not only because it was what he had abandoned the fire nation for, but because that's what you did for your friends.

That's what friends are for.
