Chapter 2

Finn walked down the stairs to the family meeting after saying goodbye to Bonnie multiple times, he smirked at the image of her legs wrapped around his waist and their lips intertwined. Once he reached the bottom steps he headed towards his brother's study.

When he arrived he saw his family gathered, Klaus leaned against his desk, drink in hand. Elijah leaning against one of the many bookshelves staring out the window, Kol and Rebekah sitting on one of the amber colored couches waiting for the conversation to start, and lastly his mother sitting in the desk chair legs crossed elegantly and hands on the arm rest.

Finn took a seat on one of the singular chairs closest to the door prepared to leave when the time came, "What was I called to discuss?" He asked calmly, sitting up straighter. He noticed his mother smile at his question and began speaking "We are holding a ball" She proudly spoke gathering the attention of his siblings "And why would we do that" Klaus asked turning around to face his mother "To show that we mean no harm" Elijah spoke before Esther could continue.

"Exactly, Niklaus you seem to have made enemies while I was away and I intend to fix that! Especially since one of those enemies is a Bennett witch, the last Bennett which to be exact" Esther got up coming from around the desk, standing in front of Klaus. Finn tensed at the mention of Bonnie but he couldn't continue his train of thought before someone else spoke. "I actually like this idea greatly" Rebekah sighed, they all turned and saw she was smiling "I suppose you would sister, you always loved planning lavish events" Kol said clearly indifferent to the topic.

"Are you sure this is a good idea, mother? Like you said, Niklaus has made many enemies! What if something were to go wrong and someone was to get hurt." Finn stated, trying to change her mind "No need to worry darling! Everything will go perfectly, I'll make sure of it" Even though they knew what their mother meant it felt like she had a double meaning and none of them liked the feeling they got when she spoke those words.

"Finn, I need to talk to you alone." His mother spoke moving back towards the chair. All his siblings had left after some more details of the ball had been discussed but he had taken a little longer to leave "What is it mother?" He still faced the door but turned around slowly "I want you to make sure I get to speak to Miss Bennett alone tomorrow night" He straightened his posture and looked his mother dead in the eye "Is there a problem?" His voice shifted from calm to worried quickly.

"No problem I just want to meet this her" She smiled "And how do you know I can get her to agree to this meeting" He asked looking around the room when she walked towards him "I just know you will darling, you are very persuasive" and then she walked out of the study, while she smiled before walking out of the room completely, heels clicking on the floor and leaving Finn in deep thought.

The next day

Bonnie walked into the Boarding house for their meeting even though she was truly uninterested she still wanted to make it seem as though nothing had changed, even though everything was different.

She hadn't heard from Finn since last night when he was telling her about something their family was planning, she wasn't really listening to be honest, just being wrapped up in his arms was like a feeling she'd never known.

She walked into the house and headed straight to the living room, everyone looked at her then back towards the table that had 5 envelopes on it, with a fancy signature as far as she could see. She sat on her knees close to the coffee table.

"What are these?" She looked around the room and saw Damon with a glass of what was definitely bourbon sitting in one of the singular chairs, and Caroline, Elena, and Stefan sitting on the couch that was to her left.

"These, witchy are invitations to the Mikealsons welcome home mommy dearest ball" Damon spoke up, eyeing Bonnie, she had been looking more relaxed and at peace lately which was different but he quickly pushed those thoughts away.

"They invited all of us and left a personal note for you and Elena" Stefan spoke up catching her attention, she eyed him skeptically before grabbing her invitation and carefully opening it.

You are formally invited to the Mikaelson's Ball, to welcome home our mother after being away for a long time.

We hope you can join us

And I personally want to speak to you Ms. Bennett, I truly hope you grace us with your presence

-Esther Mikealson.

"Why do you guys look like you're about to shit your pants?" Bonnie asked abruptly after reading the note, she noticed Elena fidgeting with her hands for a moment before speaking "It just seems kind of weird, why would she want to speak to you… alone?" Elena said the last part quietly.

Even though Elena thought she said it nicely enough it still pissed Bonnie off, "Oh I don't, maybe because I almost risked my life getting her coffin open and waking her up!" She spoke through clenched teeth trying to control her tone but ultimately giving up.

"Hey don't get mad at her! She just asked a question" Damon stepped in and Bonnie just rolled her eyes refraining from causing any more problems, normally Damon would be glad she didn't say a thing but now it pissed him off.

Bonnie looked to Caroline who was eerily quiet this whole ordeal and looked like she was about to burst "Klaus got me a dress!" She let out a sigh of relief and sagging back into the couch, to be honest nobody was really surprised and that shocked Caroline.

Bonnie took a look at her face but Stefan spoke before she could. "What do you want us to do to Caroline?" He shrugged "Yeah, Klaus had been a certified lover boy since the day you made eye contact" Damon finished for him.

Bonnie let out a long exasperated sigh and got up taking her bag in the process "Welp this has been fun but I have to go" she said before walking towards the door, only 30 minutes in and she was already tired. She felt kind of guilty though, after all she'd been through with them you'd think she would feel some kind of the emotion towards them, but looking at the past was she really their friend? It felt like the more and more she was called on to do a magic favor the more she felt herself drifting away from her best friends and drowning in her own sorrows.

But everything had changed since Finn had been undaggered and she had gotten her memories back, it felt like someone had unlocked the chain holding her foot keeping her underwater and holding back a while other part of her, it felt like Finn had grabbed her hand and pulled her to the surface allowing her to take a breath of fresh air for what felt like the very first time.

"Wait!" Elena yelled after her, she rolled her eyes but turned around anyways, she looked at Elena white curious but impatient look that made everyone shift in their seats "What about the ball?" she asked wondering if Bonnie was actually gonna leave before they made a plan, Bonnie sighed and looked around the room before looking back at the girl before her "I'll just meet up with you at the ball to go over a plan, i guess" she said before she left.

Everyone was left staring at the spot Bonnie previously stood before she had left. It was weird, normally she was one of the first people to make a plan to stop the Mikealsons! But she had been so different lately, so distant and indifferent to what was going on around them.

Later that night

Bonnie was laying down in her bed in Finn's arms. It was a nice change from going to the Mansion, it was secluded and somewhere they could be alone. It was 11pm and all the lights in the house were off, only candles lighting the room.

Sometimes it was just good to just talk and cuddle together, Bonnie loved that their relationship didn't just revolve around sex and they shared an actual connection. Finn was caressing Bonnie's arm and thinking about their past. He was the quietest out of his siblings and didn't enjoy being in the spotlight but Bonnie, she made him feel seen and like he was the only guy in the world.

"Have you already picked out a dress my love?" They were talking about his family's upcoming ball. "Yes I do." She smiled up at him. "Well can I see?" he muttered, kissing her neck "Nope, you just have to wait and see." She caressed his sleeveless biceps and he groaned "Don't me a tease darling" he kissed her on the lips

"But you like it when I'm a tease" she wrapped her arms around his neck and breathed in his cent. Finn had been glad it was his night to go to Bonnies because it was becoming more and more risky to go to the Manor.

"Do you ever just want to leave?" He asks after a moment of silence, he laid his head on her chest listening to her heartbeat and wrapping his arms around her waist and looking off to the side in the distance. "Sometimes, when my grams died I did leave and I didn't want to come back. But if I didn't come back then I wouldn't be laying here with you" she ran her fingers through his silky smooth hair scraping his scalp with her nails.

"What about now, do you want to leave?" he looked up at her curiously "As long as I have you I'll go anywhere, what about you?" She looked at him and they made eye contact. "I used to want to leave and have a normal life away from my family's misdeeds and enemies. Now that I have you, I don't need to run anymore, as long as I have you I'm good." After he spoke those words to her she felt butterflies in her stomach and her heart fluttered.

"I love you" she placed a light kiss on his lips and cuddled up to him with a yawn "'I love you too" she heard him say before she went to sleep.
