A/N: I will be taking a break soon, so that way I can finally make a new story. I'm going to make sure this story has A LOT, and I mean, A LOT of chapters. Anyways, enjoy the story, and this chapter!
Chapter II: Return To Gravity Falls.
By 5 PM, right before sunset came over the horizon, the Escalade arrived right outside the surprisingly improved Mystery Shack, and a new little shack, reserved for veterans. Mabel and Harrison got out of the SUV, followed by Waddles, as Mabel gasped at the new sight.
"Well, what do you think?", Harrison said, before he received a hug from Mabel, tears nearly starting to stream down her face.
"It's... it's beautiful, David. Once we find Dipper and Grunkle Stan, we can show them! But, where's Grunkle Ford?", Mabel would say, before looking towards the small Veterans Shack.
"Oh, he's in that little shack. It kinda looks like a little house I owned in Halifax once...", Harrison would say, before pointing towards the Veterans Shack.
"But, I can't go in there. It says reserved for-", Mabel would say, before Harrison cut her off.
"It's not reserved just for vets, it's reserved for their families to visit them as well. I'd rather like THAT opportunity, rather than not letting a veteran's family in to visit them in the shack.", Harrison would say, explaining it all to Mabel.
"Oh.", Mabel would say, before she and Harrison would walk to the Veterans Shack.
Harrison would then open the door to the Veterans Shack, hearing the great sound of Black Sabbath's Paranoid playing on an old radio nearby, and the smell of fresh cigarettes and cigars, as well as the smell of hot tea, brandy and beer. He and Mabel would then walk into the meeting room, where Ford and his fellow vets were at, talking and laughing, with Paranoid still playing on the radio, before Ford turned the radio off, startled by the sudden sight of Mabel and Lt. Col. Harrison coming into the almost tiny meeting room.
"Hello, Mabel. Long time, no see.", Ford said happily, before laughing and hugging her, while Mabel felt tears streaming down her face.
"Grunkle Ford...", Mabel would whisper in his ear. "Dipper and Grunkle Stan have disappeared-"
"I know, but we will find them. Whatever it takes. We WILL find them. I'm not letting my brother and YOUR brother die by the hands of some... psychotic madman.", Ford would say as a door from another side opened.
"Well, Harrison...", a voice said from the left corner of the room, relatively dark as a result of a lantern, bringing only a bare light. "Who have you brought here, Dave?"
"Field Marshal", Harrison would say. "This is Mabel Pines, the brother of Dipper. And the granddaughter of General Jack Pines, the Mystery General."
"Well." The figure would walk into the bright light, as Ford would turn the radio off, bringing the song currently playing, Bad to the Bone, one of the great songs of the 80s to a stop. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Pines. I'm Field Marshal John Carlisle."
"Well, it's about time I introduce you to Field Marshal Sir John Carlisle, Mabel. He's one of my father's old friends, and your grandfather's best friend.", Harrison would say out of the blue.
"It's nice to meet you, Sir... Carlisle.", Mabel would say, her voice shaking at the moment seeing the great old man who utterly terrified her a bit.
"I believe why she's afraid of me. Ford, give me my whiskey.", Carlisle would say.
"Right.", Ford would say, before grabbing a glass of whiskey and handing it to Carlisle, who then poured it all over his tattered mustache, which magically fixed it in a jiffy.
"I guess... you'd say so, old friend.", another voice would call out of the dark, the figure's face barely illuminated by the small lantern in the back room.
"You must've let off some steam, General.", Carlisle would say, before sipping the rest of his whiskey down and setting it on the wooden table.
"Indeed, I did.", the figure's voice would call out, nearly coughing in the process. "I believe you are Mabel Pines, is that correct?"
"Y-yes, sir. I'm Mabel Pines.", Mabel would say shakily, almost gripping Waddles hard to comfort her.
"Alright, then. My name's Commander Richard George Anderson of the ocean liner Gravity Falls. I'm the husband of someone you might know, Pacifica Northwest.", Anderson would say, taking his Captain's hat off in the process of speaking.
"You're... THE Captain Anderson?", Mabel would say with some excitement and joy in her voice.
"Yes, I am the "Long-Sight" Captain Anderson. Long-Sight's my nickname, but my codename is... Longsword.", Anderson would say, telling his tale with joy in his voice. "Well, we should get some rest before tomorrow. We have a huge rescue squad coming tomorrow morning, they're the famous Bloomer Squad.", Anderson would say.
"That squad contains several famous or infamous people, I must add, including the General of the UN'S Armies Historian Sworder. We don't tell anyone his real name... for fear it might get into the world's darker press. It's his codename and his old nickname.", Carlisle would add to Anderson's statement.
"Well, we wouldn't take a crap about it, eh?", Anderson would say before both of them chuckled, hoping to maintain happiness or at least SOME happiness in the room before giving everyone a last message. "Cheer up, ladies and gentlemen. We will have searches tomorrow. Even if we could find out what General Pines or Colonel Pines, as he liked to be called, discovered back in '55... I believe it could give us the clues to Bigfoot.", Anderson would say yet again.
"Anyways, enough of the chit-chat. I would like to say toast, to Dipper and Grunkle Stan... and Colonel Pines.", Carlisle said. "As per usual, I hope night and day that we find those two. And we will bring them back here safe and sound as it might be a damn good thing to do so. About 0800 Hours tomorrow morning, the squad will be here. We have lots of weapons, to take out whoever would have been behind this, tenfold. But for now... we must get some rest. Good night, everyone. Sweet dreams!", Carlisle said.
35 minutes later...
After Mabel got ready for bed, she put the covers over her. It was a cold night, destined to be warm tomorrow.
"Good night... Dipper.", Mabel would say, before passing out beside Waddles, who was sleeping with her, as she looked out towards the Moon and a shooting star passed by as a result before a mysterious book dropped from out of nowhere near the small cabin Mabel was sleeping in.
But for now, Mabel wanted to sleep and she knew she needed to get some steam off of her back.
But, the book would have to wait in the cornfields near the cabin... until tomorrow.
Tomorrow. Was. Another. Day.
