Episode 4
(Opening) I get Phoenix is watching old trial footage, but why does the kidnapping confrontation look this way? Who filmed this thing, and how did they get it at the angle they did? If they were standing behind Falls like this, why didn't they attack him from behind to…I'm overthinking this when I could just as easily sin.)
"No, you are not overthinking. You are not thinking at all. That is the only way I can explain your stupidity right now. Pierce really thinks the opening of this case was filmed on camera and it wasn't just a stylistic choice made by the developers to make you realize this case means business. This never happened, at least not the way we see here. That's the story as the police imagined it based on the evidence. The developers when making this thought players would get this after being done with the case and they would also realize this animation style and lack of color is a tribute to noir films. But you need everything spoon-fed to you, don't you?" one sin added.
(Captions say the case happened six years ago…from February 2019. That puts the trial in 2013, but that can't be true, because we were told turnabout memories occurred on April 2013 and the trial were a year apart.)
"Either you are lying or you are not hyper-observant. Pick one! The time stamps in the games never say the year. You have to look it up in the Ace attorney wiki if you want to know. I can tell you didn't because I did. Turnabouts memories occurred on April 2014. That puts it five years before Bridge to the turnabout-February 2019-and one year after turnabout beginnings-February 2013. Which makes beginnings six years before bridge. What the hell is so confusing about this?" one sin added.
[(Terry Fawles) if Fawles is as stupid as the game wants me to believe, how did he escape from prison? Game mentions something about a wagon, but there are barded wire marks on his face. Did he run headfirst into the fence until it broke on him? That would explain the facial marking but not much else.]
"Okay…I made up my mind. You are lying. The game does not imply anything! It is stated clearly: Terry Fawles was being transferred to a different prison, but his prison wagon crashed and he escaped. You are literally lying to your readers! Why? Why do you have to make shit up to blame this game?" three sins added.
(Repeated dialogue.)
"Oh, no! Characters said two similar lines twice for the sake of comedy? What tragedy! Let's gather an angry mob and burn down Capcom!" one sin added.
(Diego Armando shows up) Armando insinuates Grossberg drinks himself to sleep every night. How dies he know this and why?]
"If you've ever gone to work or school after drinking a lot the night before, you might notice people looking at you funnily. It's because of a little something called hangover." One sin added.
(Mia acts like she barely knows Diego here and he "dies" six months later. So their close, personal dating relationship lasted six months at maximum. I'll get more into this in the finale later, but when's the last time you felt like changing your career path and dedicating your newfound life to targeting her protégé and concocting elaborate savior plans with her various relatives over a woman you knew for six months? Never, you say?)
"Pierce think it's isn't possible to fall in love with a person in six months. She also speaks as if she has experience from this. If you haven't fallen in love with someone, been poisoned into a comma, losing five years of your life, woken up to find the woman you loved dead and everything you thought you had gone…you cannot speak." One sin added.
(Edgeworth's suit. It looks like someone took Manfred von Karma's design, palette-swapped it and put Edgeworth's head on top.)
"Which is part of his character. It is shown that early in his career, while under the tutorship of von karma, he was so inspired that he mimicked everything about his mentor because he admired his ability to prove every suspect guilty. That's also why he mimics many of his movements and mannerisms. You are sinning characterization again. You know what the worst part is? That this shit is not even surprising anymore!" One sin added.
(Anyone's who's played the first game before coming here knows giving us Edgeworth here completely spoils how this case will end.)
"I am going to stop you right there, because you are spouting nonsense! All Edgeworth's appearance says here is you lose. It doesn't say how. You have no f…ing way to know what to expect…and you sure as hell did not see this ending coming. Nobody did! And besides…we didn't lose! The case ended on a tie, no winners or losers." Three sins added.
(The only thing that has changed about Gumshoe over six year period…is the color of his overcoat. I'm not sure how I feel about this.)
"I am. It's great. Gumshoe doesn't have an age. He is the same no matter when he is. I sincerely hope he will look the same if he comes back in AA7. Who wants to see our beloved bumbling energetic detective as an aged, tired detective who stays out of the action mostly? That's why we have Tyrel Badd." One sin added.
(One case after constantly giving his weenies to Maggey, Gumshoe is confirmed to have the hots for Mia. Someone's got a type.)
"It's almost like this happened years before he met Maggey, who he fell in love with later. I see no matter where it is, the passage of time confounds the cinemasins office. Plus, Mia is a freakin' Goddess!" one sin added.
(Mia thinks Edgeworth has a cute face? I'm…not rude I wanna read this fanfiction. At least, not in this era of the series.)
"Acts like Edgeworth's baby face is not adorable." one sin added.
(How did Fawles succeed in stealing a car from a couple at a stoplight? Did he throw them out? Did he kill them? Why is automobile theft not one of the charges Mia is defending him against? And while we are on the subject, why not the charge of escaping from prison? Did he already please guilty to those? This is never explained, nor does it make any sense.)
"Yes. Fawles probably threw them out. It's not like it's that hard to do and he is shown as being very strong. Also, why would the court care if a man who is accused of committing a murder while being on death row stole a car or escaped from prison. Even if they come up, that will happen after the murder matter has been settled. And why would Mia want to prove him innocent of charges he is guilty of?" one sin added.
(Why does Dahlia only kill people when it's raining? This is an oddly specific MO and she doesn't have a water motif associated with her.)
"Pierce doesn't know about coincidences. Dahlia has murdered two people and it happened to be raining both times. Considering the amount of annual rainfall in America…it's much more likely than you think." One sin added.
[(Blame it on him, Your honor. He is the one trying to slip false evidence into the courtroom.) Armando incorrectly foreshadows the SL-9 case. While Edgeworth does…]
"Skip!" one sin added.
(The return of Dahlia Hawthorne.)
"Pierce sins a dick for dick-ing. Villains are hated because they are supposed to be so. If a villain is seen as a dick, that's a job well done for the writers. If a villain is seen as a dick, but a hilarious or enjoyable dick-Atmey-that's a great job. But it doesn't change the fact despicable characters are meant to be so. That way you feel happy when they get thrown in jail or fall down a cliff or electrocuted or..." one sin added.
(Melissa was using a camera with film…in 2013. And unlike Lotta's, it's just an everyday camera, not fancy at all. Either it's several years old, or she spent a long time trying to find it. Where would you even buy those by then?)
"In quite a few places or on the internet. Also, film photographs are seen as more objective proof. Really, digital photographs can be manipulated and edited. If they are taken with film, they will be seen as more accurate. So Dahlia is making her phony evidence harder to disprove." one sin added.
[(Edgeworth doesn't dispute that Dusky bridge was broken at the time of the incident, just that Mia can't prove it.) Asshole.]
"He is meant to be one. Get the memo! And he is not wrong! The burden of proof is on the defense here." one sin added.
(According to Fawles, Valery was a new detective five years ago. How did she go from new detective to sergeant in only five years? Did she take the Lana Skye way of promotions somehow?)
"I don't know…it couldn't have anything to do with the fact that she handled a serious "kidnapping" case and caught a dangerous "murderer" on her own." One sin added.
(Ms. Fey must be desperate if she's trying to bring the dead back to life.) No, she hasn't actually tried to channel anyone in this trial yet. Though I'm assuming she could. If anything, she's the one people call back from the dead when they're desperate. Not the other way around. That said, I know it's doubtful to be accepted as evidence, post-DL-6 and all, but what if Mia tried to channel Dahlia to prove she is still alive? It wouldn't prove who Melissa really is, no, but…I wanna Mia channel somebody goddammit it!)
"So…you acknowledge trying to channel Dahlia would be an utter and pointless failure…that it would result in nothing other than her credibility being lost and her case breaking up and…you still think the developers should have gone with that because…"I wanna." If Mia listened to you, Fawles would be as dead as…wait…still this is bullshit!" five sins added.
(Edgeworth continues to insist Fawles had killed before the current case with Dahlia Hawthorne…despite knowing before the start of the trial that Dahlia is very much alive. If the prosecutor's office knew the supposed victim was alive and all, wouldn't Fawles' previous sentence be dropped to at least attempted murder? We know Edgeworth is an asshole at this point on the timeline, but really? Everyone at the prosecutor's office.)
"The prosecutor's office does not care right now. Fawles' is on trial for the murder of Valerie Hawthorne. After that, they could arrange a retrial based in the fact Dahlia was alive. But Edgeworth was the only one in this trial who knew and, of course, he wouldn't reveal it, since it would give his witness a motive and Fawles a chance at acquittal. He admits it now to avoid embarrassment." One sin added.
(Terry Fawles was a tutor? I'm…having my doubts. He can barely speak correctly.)
"So a man who has some kind of disability that impedes his speech…cannot be capable in other parts of his life? Wow…" one sin added.
(Dahlia managed to expertly navigate a river that usually kills people at 14, fully clothed and with a backpack on. She may be evil, but that's badass as fuck.)
"So you get the point of this is to show you dahlia is a badass…and you still sin it?" one sin added.
[(The suicide) …I can't think of any sins for this. This scene is…sad as fuck and depresses me every time I reach it.]
"I know. Me too. It's an awesome, flawless scene. There is nothing to…"
(That said…ending narration.)
"I knew it! Sinning this scene for the most minor and stupid of reasons!" fifty sins added.
[(Mia's monologue about the game's first case) recapping shit we already know.]
"I was going to just add another fifty sins for still sinning this scene, but…why are you saying Mia? You…do know Phoenix is monologuing here, right? They show him at the hospital for a reason." Fifty-one sins added.
(And…foreshadowing the finale. The holy trinity of sins and they all come out of the same ending monologue. Way to go, Mia. Way to go.)
"Just…repeat what I said above. For good measure." Fifty-one sins added.
Total sin tally: 182
Sentence: your car stolen at a stoplight.
