Kate ran through the forest outside her home in Alaska confused. She was trying to hunt, the key word being trying. Kate had covered at least 3 miles and hadn't even caught the scent or heard any movement of an animal. She wasn't sure what was going on but it was becoming concerning. Just as she was going to give up and go back to her home to get her coven's help figuring out what was in the woods causing this Kate saw a deer run by. Finally finding some prey Kate took off after it only to come to a stop as she saw the deer's destination. Kate was dumbstruck as she watched the deer join a group of animals that included more deer, a few wolves, a couple moose and some small animals like squirrels, rabbits and even a pair of chipmunks. The animals weren't what made Kate pause though it was the woman dressed in a white summer dress with long reddish brown hair adorned with flowers woven through out it. For some reason all the animals seemed to be focused on the woman. The pair of chipmunks were sleeping on her shoulders snuggled into her hair. It was the most bizarre sight Kate had ever seen in her thousand years.

"You should leave this forest and never return." The woman said.

Kate was surprised by the woman's voice. It sounded like twinkling bells. The sound bringing a sense of warm comfort to Kate. "What?"

"I said you should leave this forest and never return." The woman sounded almost amused at Kate's reaction.

"Who are you?" Kate asked.

"It doesn't matter who I am Kate Denali." The woman said.

"How do you know who I am?" Kate was even more confused about this situation. She was sure she had never met this woman before.

The woman smirked. "I know many things vampire."

"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?" Kate yelled. She made a move towards the woman but before she could even take a step her body froze. She couldn't move at all, not even to wiggle her toes. Kate's sudden idea of rushing the woman and taking her back to her home to interrogate her was no longer an option.

"I was going to play nice with you Katerina but then you had to go and try to attack me. I have no doubt you would have used your gift on me as well." The woman chuckled at the look of shock on Kate's face. "I told you I know many things. Now I'm going to let you know some of those things as well."

Kate suddenly felt very afraid. She wasn't sure what was going to happen but it didn't look like she was getting out of this situation unharmed. As the woman walked up to where Kate was standing and looked into Kate's eyes Kate felt more than just fear she felt uncontrollable terror. The woman's eyes that she had originally thought were brown were now a sky blue with orange swirls through out that made it look like they were on fire. Kate tried but she couldn't look away. It was like her very being was trapped within this woman's eyes and Kate was sure if she was human she would shit herself out of fear.

"You see, I know all about you and your coven." The woman told her causing Kate to worry about the rest of her family. "And from what I have found you vampires are going against your nature. You see I am very invested in nature and by going against yours you have been killing those I hold very dear to my heart. Now I'm going to give you a warning. You and your coven are to stop feeding from animals or I will come back and next time I won't be so nice."

Kate felt relieved when the woman released her from her gaze. Then she watched in awe as the woman seem to just disappear and at the same time Kate was able to move again. Kate decided to abandon her hunt and return home to tell the others about this encounter. She just wished Tanya was home to deal with this but she had been traveling for the last year and had only called to check in.

"Kate what the hell?!" Irina yelled as Kate ran into the house slamming the front door open hard enough that it cracked the wall it banged against.

"We need to have a meeting now." Kate said.

"What's going on?"Carmen asked as she and her mate Eleazar came down the stairs. "I thought you were out hunting?"

"I don't think any of us should ever go hunting for animals again." Kate knew she sure as hell wasn't. She would just have to figure out how to go about getting human blood without killing actual humans.

"You want us to start drinking human blood?" Irina was concerned with Kate's erratic behavior. "Why don't you sit down and tell us what has you changing your view on our diet so suddenly."

"I met a woman." Kate said.

Carmen smiled. "So you met a woman you like and now you want to impress her by changing your diet?"

"Oh no I don't like her at all." Kate especially did not like how she knew all about her and the others.

"What has you so afraid?" Irina asked. Kate was usually so fearless but now it was like an aura of terror surrounded her.

"I think we all should be afraid." Kate said.

"Ok start at the beginning. So you went out to hunt, then what?" Irina needed to get Kate focused because if this was as serious as Kate was making it seem then they would need to contact Tanya and she would want all the information they could get.

Kate took a deep breath to calm herself."So I was out hunting and noticed that I couldn't find any wildlife. After a few miles I almost came home to have the rest of you help me search to see what was in the forest that was scaring the animals into hiding. Just as I was about to turn around I saw a deer running. I immediately took off after it thinking I was being paranoid and had finally found a meal. When I had just about caught the deer I came upon a scene straight out of a fairy tale. There was a bunch of different animals standing around a woman."

"What? Why were they standing around a woman?" Eleazar asked.

"That's the thing. I don't know. Some of them were predators just calmly sitting with their prey not even attacking. I'm not sure if the woman was controlling them or not but she had two chipmunks sleeping on her shoulders buried in her hair." Kate wasn't surprised with the looks of disbelief she was getting from the others. She had witnessed it and still wasn't sure it was real. "When she noticed me she told me to leave the forest and never return. I asked her who she was and she didn't tell me but she not only knew I was a vampire she knew my full name and my gift."

"Wait this woman knew who you were?" Kate nodded causing Irina to have even more questions. "What else did she say to you?"

"Well when she said she knew who I was I made a move to attack her. I figured that if I could capture her and bring her back here we could interrogate her to see if she was an actual threat but before I could even move she somehow froze me in place. I couldn't even breath. Nothing would move." Kate told them.

"So is she a human or a vampire?" Eleazar had never known a vampire with that type of gift before.

"I don't know what she was but she wasn't human and she definitely wasn't a vampire." Kate said.

"Was she a shifter then?" Carmen asked.

Kate shook her head. "She definitely wasn't a shifter. She didn't smell like one and all the animals around her looked perfectly relaxed."

"What happened when she froze you in place?" Irina asked.

"She walked up to me and looked me in the eyes." Kate shivered thinking about those eyes. "When I looked into her eyes they had changed from the original brown into a blue that had what I'm positive was fire dancing inside the if I wanted to there was no way I could have looked away from her. She told me that we were going against our nature and that by doing so we were killing those that were very dear to her heart. She then warned me that we were to stop hunting animals immediately or she wasn't going to be nice when she came back for us."

"Jesus Christ." Irina wasn't sure what to make of this. Kate wasn't one to scare easily so if she was actually this afraid then the woman was as dangerous as Kate believed. "We need to call Tanya and tell her what is going on. Until she tells us what she wants us to do no one go hunting and stay out of the forest."

"I'm not going back out there. I don't think I will ever again." Kate never wanted to be in that woman's presence. She would rather hunt humans than deal with her.

"Let me call Tanya before we take drastic measures." Irina wasn't looking forward to calling her sister as she knew Tanya wanted some time alone. In the last few decades she had been taking more trips by herself away from the rest of them. Irina was starting to get worried that Tanya was becoming depressed and fed up with life. It seemed like the responsibly of leading the coven was the only thing keeping Tanya going anymore and even that wasn't enough to keep her home. Irina hoped that this situation with the random woman Kate met would give Tanya something to focus on. If they were really lucky the woman would cause enough excitement to pull their coven leader out of her melancholy.
