Chapter 1:peace ended
Goku and the Z Fighters enter a new era of peace as they have not had to deal with any significant threats since the overthrow of Majin Buu. As the world seems to be more calm than it has ever been, each of the Z Fighters are preparing differently to ensure that when the time comes, they are all ready for whatever comes along.
Goku is using this new and rare lack of strife as an opportunity to train himself and his new pupil, Uub, as hard as possible. His increased training regimen, even with such a tight schedule, has become something of a challenge to him as a martial artist.
Gohan is using this period of peace to focus on his studies. As a man of many interests, he keeps up with his martial arts training, but spending most of his free time on other pursuit as well, such as attempting to further expand his knowledge and understanding of the world.
Goten and Trunks, Gohan's younger brother and friend, have gone off on their own path, choosing to go to college together. They still train together from time to time, but their schedule and focus are on their studies, not martial arts.
Gohan's daughter, Pan, has not reached the same level of maturity as her older counterparts, and is still a young girl. Because of this, she continues to train, not as intensely as Goku or Vegeta, but with Gohan and Videl, who watch over her and ensure that she is not getting in over her head.
Piccolo is keeping a low profile. He has committed himself to a strict regimen of training to increase his power on his own. Not wanting to be outdone by the stronger members of the Z Fighters, he is attempting to master the techniques he has been taught in complete privacy.
Vegeta has decided to use this period as an opportunity to focus on his own training. Those he used to fight with have moved on, some even formed families, and so Vegeta has turned into a hermit, focusing heavily on his bodily growth and fighting prowess.
Finally, Chichi has been dedicating her time and energy to supporting and preparing for the day when her beloved husband and son will come home. She is constantly expecting them to eventually return, and so she spends her free time ensuring that the home is as always been kept up and in the best shape possible.
The world is in a better and safer place since the fall of Majin Buu. While the Z Fighters are in different stages, they are all ready for whatever the future may bring.
The sky was a clear, sunny blue, lined with puffy white clouds here and there. The sand below was white and the waves in the distance sparkled beneath the light of the sun. It was a peaceful day on the otherwise isolated island, but the place was far from being vacant.
On the beach stood two figures, intent on one thing: learning. How to better themselves, how to unlock their full potential. Goku and Uub were alone on this island, and Goku had taken it upon himself to train his pupil. Uub had never known any real training—he had simply been a kind, smart kid who could fight at a well-advanced level. Today, he would learn a powerful technique from his master, the Kaioken.
'It takes great practice and skill,' Goku said, 'but once mastered, this technique will make you even stronger. Put your energy into it and you should be able to summon lightning like I did.'
Uub nodded hesitantly, not entirely sure of himself. Goku smiled and encouraged him to try, and within a few moments Uub had successfully summoned a spark of lightning which zapped a nearby rock.
Goku congratulated Uub on his accomplishment, but his praise was cut short—for a sudden flash of light cast a large shadow on the beach. Pikachu-colored light, too bright to be of this world. Goku shielded his eyes and looked up, and he was astonished to see a peculiar time machine, shaped like a gigantic finger, suspended in the air.
Uub gasped. 'What is that?'
Before Goku could answer, the machine opened up and a single figure stepped out: Future Trunks. The two warriors stared at each other in surprise.
Goku blinked, unable to process the time traveler's sudden presence. 'What brings you here, Future Trunks?'
