Huntresses of Fairy Tail
"That could have gone better." Raion groaned, rubbing his neck. "Damn it, did my hammock have to break on me in the middle of the night? Wish I'd inherited my mom's invulnerability."
Cracking his neck as he left the hut, Raion opened the door, intent on learning what Natsu's team might have found out or came up with so far. Stretching as the first rays of the morning light hit him, Raion let out a yawn, before grabbing an energy drink from his bag.
Heading for the hut the unauthorized team was in, Raion saw that the guards who were posted out front had fallen asleep.
"Odd, Moka assured me these two could spend over a week awake without suffering from sleep deprivation." Raion said, before a thought came to him. "Don't tell me."
Rushing into the hut, Raion hissed when he found that Natsu, Grey, Lucy, and Happy were gone.
"Those little…" He growled, crushing the can of his drink, and spilling its contents everywhere on the ground. "The hell did they do to be able to sneak out like this?"
Rummaging around the room, Raion found a note, left in what he could only assume was Lucy's handwriting. He figured it was hers, as it was in cursive, as well as the fact that neither Natsu nor Grey's penmanship, was this neat and fancy.
"Raion, I apologize, Natsu and Happy pressured me into using one of my spirits to put the guards to sleep, and sneak out before you awoke. We're currently heading for the temple, on the other side of the island." Raion read aloud. "Those two…" He hissed.

"Are you sure it was a good idea to disobey Raion like that?" Lucy asked. "What happened to all that talk about not being able to risk disobeying him, because of the power he wields?"
"That was Happy." Natsu said. "If we manage to pull this off before the big guy can figure out where we are then he won't have any reason to be mad at us."
"In what universe does that logic work?" Lucy questioned. "He's gonna be pissed we disobeyed him, and that you pressured me into using one of my spirits to knock out the guards."
"He won't know unless someone tells him." Happy said.
"Which someone did." Lucy said, stopping in her tracks.
"What are you talking about Lucy?" Grey asked.
"Before we vanished from the village, I left a note for him." Lucy said. "I just joined the guild, I don't wanna lose my place in it, because I made a compulsory decision to follow your lead, and go along with finishing the S-Class Quest, we weren't authorized for."
"Lucy, this is our chance to prove we're capable of S-Class Quests." Natsu stated.
"So? That won't mean anything, if we're kicked out of the guild for breaking the rule…" Lucy was stopped in her statement, as a large shadow came over top of them, and she turned around.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?" They all shouted as they spotted a giant rat in a maids uniform.
The giant blue furred rat, lunged at the intruding mages, intent on devouring them for breakfast. Its advances were stopped when a familiar aliens voice echoed through the air.
"Divine Beast Talon!" Raion shouted, hitting the giant rat with a spinning back kick to the side of the face, with a foot alight with black flames.
Landing on the ground, Raion didn't waste a single moment, as he lunged at the giant rodent, and buried his fists into its flesh. The force of the strike, forced the giant rodent to bend forward, before Raion flew around to its back, grabbing the rat by its tail, he pulled it hard and began spinning around. Building up momentum, Raion let go of the rodent, and with a massive Ki blast prepped, he fired it at the beast, and sent it flying into orbit upon impact.
"Alright, that'll show that beast." Natsu cheered.
"NATSU." Raion shouted, turning back to face the Dragonslayer.
"Uh-oh…" Natsu gulped.
"You three, are gonna start heading back to the village, right now." Raion exclaimed.
"C'mon, we can help." Grey said.
"Just give us a chance to prove we're capable of taking on an S-Class…"
"NOW!" Raion shouted, his eyes glowing red. "You're the one who's most in trouble Natsu. You strong armed Lucy into choosing to come along on this quest, with the prospect of her getting another key, and then you and Happy both pressure her into summoning a Celestial Spirit that would allow you all to sneak out."
"Raion, that's not exactly what…"
"I'm talking right now, not you." Raion stated, stopping Natsu from trying to make an excuse, while the power in his eyes died down. "You've all collectively broken over a dozen Guild Rules, as well as Council Laws about S-Class jobs, only eligible for being accepted strictly by S-Class Huntsmen and Huntress Mages. At this point if you continue to disobey me, I will have no choice, but to use force on you. An' if it comes to that, you will be expelled from Fairy Tail, no questions asked. Lucy might be spared, considering you've strong armed her into breaking the rules on several occasions, but she'd still be punished for going along with it."
Natsu, Grey, Lucy, and Happy all looked at Raion, and saw the hybrid warrior was serious. Natsu, Grey, and Happy knew he was serious, because he didn't have his Heat Vision primed and ready for use, as he only used it to get their attention, when the situations weren't that serious. Lucy however, could tell he was serious, because she could see the pain in his eyes, that told her he didn't want the situation to get to that, but he'd do it if he had to. She couldn't imagine the burden he had on his mind at the moment, with the responsibility he had.
"Alright." Lucy said. "We'll return to the village."
"What? But Lucy…"
"She's right Natsu." Grey said. "I myself am just as much to blame for this, since I went along with it. But you and I both know Raion isn't messing around. He's serious about using harmful force, if it comes down to that. An' you know, what'll happen to us with the Master if he uses force."
"But…"
Natsu was stopped from his argument, when Raion blew at the Dragonslayer, and enveloped him in a thick, sheet of ice.
"Did you just use a breath attack on him?" Lucy asked.
"Super Breath actually. No magic was involved in any way." Raion sighed. "He'll be fine though, once the ice melts, it'll feel like only a second have passed for him. By that point, you all should be back at the village."
"Right." Grey sighed, picking up Natsu. "C'mon, let's start making our way back."
"Lucy, before you go." Raion began. "What exactly were you going to the temple for?"
"The village chief Moka wants us to destroy the moon, 'cause he thinks that's how the curse will be lifted." Lucy stated.
"He told me the same thing." Raion said. "So you were going to the temple, to see if it held any clues to undoing the curse."
"We thought we might find something that might tell us what's actually happening to the villagers." Lucy said. "So far, that's all we had planned."
"You did good." Raion said. "You might earn your new key, sooner then you think."
"Yay." Lucy said, before turning and running down the hill, following Grey.
"Now then, time to see what secrets this temple is hiding." Raion stated, turning to look towards the temple.
~Elsewhere~
"Are we sure this is the right island?" Weiss asked.
"No doubt about it." Yang said. "Pirate Captain said so himself when he refused to disembark from the ship."
"Which means we'll get to see Erza in action, sooner then we think." Blake said.
"I just hope Natsu and the others aren't dead yet." Ruby stated.
"I got word from Mira." Erza said. "Raion made it to the island last night. But knowing how Natsu can be, he and his group probably left the village after Raion told them to stay put."
"How would they have been able to do that?" Yang asked.
"Most likely with one of Lucy's spirits, sis." Ruby said. "She's a Celestial Summoner. So she's probably got a spirit who could help get them out of there."
"Virgo for instance." Erza stated.
"What can that spirit do?" Blake asked.
"Burrow holes and tunnels. They can be used for traps, or for escape routes." Erza explained.
"She's one of the Twelve Zodiac Spirits, from a golden key." Yang stated. "There are a total of twenty four golden keys, twenty five if you include the Snake Charmer Ophiuchus. Apparently that key is number 13 in the animal zodiac."
"The Snake Charmer is said to be stronger then the other twelve combined. Virgo is actually one of the zodiac spirits. But the Snake Charmer Spirit is nothing more then a rumor at this point. There isn't a Celestial Mage in history, who's known to have contracted, or even seen the Golden Key, with a purple snake wrapped around it." Ruby added.
"You, seem quite knowledgeable about Celestial spirits you two. Why is that?" Erza asked.
"Oh, well it's nothing major, but Yang and I both have contracts with Golden Key Celestial Spirits." Ruby said. "These spirits aren't from the Zodiac, Lucy has her contracts with though."
"An' you didn't think to summon your spirits when Erigor held you hostage?" Weiss asked.
"I only have one spirit Weiss, and she doesn't like fighting." Ruby said. "I'll summon her when we get back to the guild."
"I'll summon mine to." Yang smiled. "But Ruby's lying, she has two keys."
"Am not." Ruby huffed. "The second key I have, is nothing more then a magicless trinket. A good luck charm my mom left for me as a gift for when I made it into Beacon."
"What's it look like?" Blake asked.
"It's supposed to be a replica of the Snake Charmer key. Which is why I was able to describe its details." Ruby said, holding up the charm from around her neck. "This is the charm my mom left me."
The overall design of the key was gold, ending with a sharp spade-like head, connected to the keys bow by a dark serpentine figure that spiraled around the body of the key. The center of the bow is black, stamped with the crest of the Snake Charmer, colored in white, with the serpentine figure spiraled around it.
"That looks like the real thing to me." Blake said.
"It's not. As I said, it's nothing but a good luck charm." Ruby stated, putting the key back under her top.
"It must have cost your mom a pretty Jewel." Weiss stated. "An item that detailed, couldn't have been cheap."
"It was actually an heirloom given to her, by our grandparents." Yang said. "She gave it to Ruby, because she's the only one of us, who was related to her, by blood."
"What was your mothers name?" Erza asked.
"Summer Rose." Ruby said.
Hearing that name, caused Erza to stop in her tracks, and looked over her shoulder to the two girls of RWBY.
"I'm sorry for your loss." Erza said. "She was a powerful Huntress, and would have been S-Class if she were still around today. I can see the resemblance of her in you Ruby, but you Yang, you resemble more of another member of Team STRQ Qrow showed me a picture of."
"Raven Branwen, yeah." Yang sighed. "She's my mom, biologically anyway."
"Summer was our dad's second wife, making Yang and I half sisters." Ruby stated.
"I see. I apologize if I touched a sore subject. Let's keep moving." Erza said.
~Raion~
"Now this is strange." Raion said, looking through the ruins of the temple. "These carvings, the moons… It seems to depict architecture of Kryptonian origin. But that can't be right. She, was the only Kryptonian in existence before she up and abandoned this world."
Continuing to step through the ruins of the temple, Raion's foot pressed down on a loose stone in the floor, before it gave out and caved in under him.
"Shit." He cursed.
Due to the suddenness of this shocking fall, Raion didn't think to use his flying ability, as he fell to the caverns bellow. Instead, he leapt back and jumped off several large pieces of stone, before landing on his feet in the three point stance.
"Well just great." Raion scoffed, before he sensed something coming from down the cavern. "There's something down here." He said, before looking around. "If memory serves, this direction leads to the center of the temple, which means this must lead to whatever's been causing the moon to turn purple."
Heading down further into the tunnel, Raion wanted to finish this as soon as possible, and get back to the other missions he'd taken. He kept his guard up, and traversed carefully, he couldn't sense anyone in the tunnels, but that didn't mean they weren't there.
"Gotta keep my guard up. S-Class Missions, are no place, for anyone to get sloppy." Raion said. "I'm no exception to that rule."
After making his way down the tunnel, Raion reached a large chamber, filled with a glowing icy blue light. Poking his head out, before seeing the coast was clear, Raion looked up at the source of the glow, and his eyes widened, while his irises shrank in horror, when he saw a demon, he'd only ever seen on the news.
"What the hell?" Raion questioned, as he stared at the Demon Deliora. "I thought King Toma made sure this beast was sealed away in the Northern…"
Raion stopped speaking, when he suddenly felt a wave of sickness wash over him, and he was weakened, to the point he fell to his knees, barely able to keep himself up with his arms.
"In the Norther Regions of Fiore?" A voice asked, as someone stepped to be at his side.
Raion forced himself to look up, as a glow of green caught in the corner of his vision, and saw a man, wearing a mask of some sort, while holding a green rock that seemed to glow brighter, the closer it got to him.
"K-Kryptonite?" Raion questioned.
"Yes, you seem to know your own weakness well. Just as your mother had." The man stated with a smirk. "I suppose that's who you learned about this from. The name's Zalty, by the way."
"W-where did you get… that chunk of Green Kryptonite?" Raion questioned. "There isn't supposed to be any… in this universe."
"My, my." Zalty said. "You don't know do you?"
"Know what?" Raion questioned, before he was knocked over on his side, as the man kicked him in the face.
"The Magic Council's been keeping an eye on you." Zalty smirked, using his foot to role Raion onto his back and press down on his chest. "They view you as a threat, that could potentially be greater then Zeref, and just as terrifying as Acnologia, if not more. So they've been developing synthetic Kryptonite. Took some trial and error for them to find your weakness, and a lot of your DNA, which wasn't too hard to get their hands on, as you left plenty of blood samples at many of the jobs you took. An' once they found the right element that weakened your cells, they refined it into the crystalline form, you see before you."
"The Magic… Council?" Raion questioned, before Zalty kicked him in the face.
"That's right my boy. Don't feel too bad, those who voted against this idea, weren't all too keen on it, but were out voted." Zalty said, as Raion began to pass out. "Now, nighty night."
~Sometime Later: Village~
"I don't like this." Grey said, sitting in his hut with Natsu, and Lucy, the moon already rising in the air. "Raion should have been back by now."
"You're right." Natsu exclaimed. "You don't think the temple is filled with, that, do you?"
"Impossible, there's no way it's filled with that stuff. It shouldn't be possible." Grey said.
"What are you two talking about?" Lucy asked.
"Kryptonite." Natsu stated. "It's a mineral, capable of weakening a Kryptonian, to such pathetic levels, even Happy could take them down in a single strike."
"Hey, I resent that." Happy stated.
"But why would it be impossible?" Lucy asked.
"It's not our place to tell. Once we get back, if we haven't been kicked out of the guild, you can ask Master about it." Grey stated. "He's the only one with Raions permission to tell the story."
Knock-knock-knock…
"Who could that be?" Natsu asked, as Grey went to answer.
The moment Grey opened the door, his eyes widened in shock, before he shut it.
"She's here."
"Who, Erza?" Natsu asked.
"No." Grey said, before the door slammed open, knocking Grey to the ground.
"Knock-knock outlaws." Yang said, stepping through the door. "We're here to take you back to the guild."
"Wait, a newbie?" Natsu asked. "Why was Grey so spooked by you?"
"Because I kick his ass whenever I see him. He stripped in front of Ruby, and I can't let that slide." Yang stated. "So where's Raion?"
"At the Temple Ruins, trying to see if he can break the curse on the villagers, without destroying the moon." Lucy said.
"Why would he need to do that?" Yang asked. "All he has to do is reverse the curse messing with the memories of these demons."
"Wait, what?" Happy, Natsu, Grey, and Lucy asked.
"Oh yeah. Guess you wouldn't know, surprised you didn't Salamander." Yang said. "This village isn't home to humans, it never was. It's home to actual demons from hell. I can tell because demons have a similar scent to Grimm, and these guys are reeking of it."
"How was I supposed to know from their scent?" Natsu asked. "I don't know what an actual demon smells like."
"Really? Must be a 5th Gen Dragonslayer thing." Yang shrugged. "Anyways, Erza's talking with that Moka guy and has ordered Team RWBY, us, to capture you."
"Us?" Lucy asked.
"Oh yeah, Team RWBY's got this whole hut surrounded. Every exit is blocked, so it's impossible to escape now without a fight now." Yang smirked.
"No need to go all out on us." Lucy said. "Raion already chewed our ears out about breaking the rules, even froze Natsu in a block of ice. We'll be cooperating from here on out."
"Huh, I was actually looking forward to more of a fight." Yang sighed. "Oh well. Come along then."
As Yang lead the rule breakers of the guild out of there, with Team RWBY grouping back up, they went to Erza who had a stern look on her face, as she turned to look at them.
"You." Erza said, marching up to them.
Grey, Natsu, Happy, and Lucy were terrified, before each of them was slapped with a metal covered hand.
"Do you have any idea, how foolish, selfish, and arrogant this little ploy of yours was?" Erza questioned. "You raised the hopes of these people, when you're not even suited for this mission. Do you know the kind of shame, you'd have brought upon the Guild if you'd failed this mission, upon the Master?"
"We're sorry." Lucy said.
"There's no need for you to apologize Lucy." Erza said, before holding up a slip of paper. "Raion explained to me in this note that you'd been strong armed to follow Natsu's lead through this entire experience. But be that as it may, you're still gonna be punished once we return to the Guild. I'll talk to the Master about making it, not as severe as the others."
"Yes ma'am." Lucy said, bowing her head a bit.
"Speaking of our S-Class friend, where's Raion?" Erza asked.
"Apparently he's at the Temple Ruins, seeing if he can find a way to break the curse without destroying the moon." Yang said.
"He'd asked us all sorts of questions before he left." Moka stated. "I don't know why, he knows that the moon must be destroyed to break the curse."
"Patients sir, Raion's a skilled and powerful S-Class Huntsman. He knows what he's doing." Erza said. "He's also compassionate, and will try to find a way to remove the curse, as the magic power produced from the moon, is responsible for sustaining life support equipment for those who depend on its light to survive through the night. He'll only destroy it, if he is left with no other choice."
"He's really become that powerful?" Ruby asked, looking to Yang.
"I guess so. I mean, he is known as Fairy Tail's God of War, after all. An S-Class Huntsman." Yang stated.
"Okay, you two seriously need to inform us on everything you know about this guy." Blake said with a smile. "Seems like you may have some interesting stories about him that could be entertaining."
"So what are we gonna do now?" Weiss asked.
"Now, you're going to wait here for Raion, and explain to him what's going on." Erza said. "I'll be taking these troublemakers back to the guild."
"What? But you can't just leave us here." Weiss said. "We're not even supposed to be on this Quest."
"An' you're not." Erza said, tying up Lucy, Grey, and Natsu's hands with rope, while Happy was tied around the waist like a balloon. "You're just here, to support Raion, and inform him I've already taken these miscreants back to the guild, and will do so as a team. Entertain yourselves until I get back."
"How are we supposed to do that?" Ruby asked.
"I can think of a couple things." Yang smiled, winking at Blake, making the girl blush.
"Pervert." Weiss scoffed.
"Says you." Yang countered.
"What you do is up to you. Take care, and be sure to return in one piece." Erza said, leading Natsu's group away.
"So…" Blake said, still blushing a bit as she rubbed her arm. "What can you guys tell us about Raion?" She asked, looking to Ruby and Yang.
~Raion~
Pain. Pain radiated throughout Raion's body, as he opened his eyes, finding himself tied to a crucifix, like he were some sort of scarecrow. Looking down, he saw the chunk of Kryptonite tied in a chain, hanging around his neck.
"Looks like he's finally awake."
Raion, through the pain looked up at who spoke and saw a man, wearing a demon mask, with three subordinates behind him. A pink haired girl, somewhat dressed like a Goth Lolita fly, a man with dog ears, and a man with blue hair, and large bushy eye brows. Next to them, was Zalty, a smirk on his face.
"Seems like that Kryptonite is doing quite well in keeping him weakened, despite it being a synthetic development." The blue haired man said.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Raion questioned.
"Dealing, with an intruder." The demon masked man stated.
"Who are you people?" Raion asked.
"You're going to die anyways, so I suppose it doesn't matter if we tell you who we are." The leader of the group said, before removing his helmet, revealing his face to Raion. "My name is Lyon, I am known as the Cold Emperor. Behind me are Toby, Yuka, and Sherry. You've already met Zalty."
"What are you doing on this island?" Raion questioned.
"We needed these ruins, to revive an ancient power that I alone, am strong enough to defeat." Lyon said. "With the Moon Drip Ceremony, we will awaken Deliora, and I will surpass my master at last, proving once and for all I am stronger then her."
"The Iced Shell." Raion sighed. "So you're Lyon, Grey's student sibling."
"Hmm? You know that pathetic weakling?" Lyon questioned.
"We're part of the same guild." Raion groaned. "He told me about Deliora, Ur, and you. Hate to break it to ya, but all that's gonna happen after you free that demon, is he'll take one final breath, and then crumble to dust."
"Explain yourself." Lyon said, glaring at him.
"Iced Shell, is a lethal spell. To both the user, and target of the spell itself." Raion stated. "I'm somewhat of an avid scholar you see. Have been since I was a kid, had to keep myself busy somehow, with all the women my dirt bag dad brought home. So I've done plenty of research on spells, like Iced Shell. An' the data shows, anyone who's released from Iced Shell, will be dead within minutes, if not seconds of gaining their freedom. There's no oxygen inside the Iced Shell, and there's no food, and it doesn't melt so there's no water. The first factor alone, is enough to show, Deliora's already dead and gone. Has been ever since it was sealed away within the spell. That Iced Shell you're trying oh so valiantly to destroy, is nothing more then its tomb at this point."
"You lie." Lyon said, sounding angered. "There's no way, a demon as powerful as Deliora, could ever be defeated by something as simple as asphyxiation."
"It doesn't matter. I'm not here because of Deliora." Raion coughed.
"Then why are you here?" Sherry questioned.
"I'm here, because I'm trying to remove the curse on the villagers down bellow." Raion said.
"I see, so you're here because of them." Lyon said. "Toby, Sherry, Yuka."
"Sir?"
"Kill the villagers. Every last one of them." Lyon said.
"Yes sir." The trio said, before leaving to do their job.
"No, you can't do that. Leave them alone. They have nothing to do with this." Raion hissed.
"I will show no mercy, to anyone who stands in the way of my dreams." Lyon stated.
"Lyon, you're making a huge mistake." Raion stated. "Those people don't even know Deliora is on the island."
"It matters not." Lyon said. "They hired someone to snoop around. That warrants me reason enough, to end their lives."
"No." Raion growled, pressing against his bindings, the light of the Kryptonite dancing around the shadows. "I will not let you hurt them."
"What is going on?" Lyon questioned. "I thought the Kryptonite was supposed to weaken him?"
"It has, I do not know what's happening." Zalty stated.
"I will not let you, hurt innocent people who have done nothing wrong!" Raion exclaimed, his eyes glowing red.
"Begin the ritual now." Lyon said.
Almost instantly, dozens of Lyon's followers emerged from the shadows in a circle, and began worshiping the moon. The ground beneath Raion's post lit up with a magic circle, before powerful waves of magic washed over him. Crying out in pain, Raion struggled against his bindings, his muscles convulsing before his right arm broke free, and he produced a length of magic energy, taking on the form of a chain. Swinging his arm forward, Raion knocked several of the worshipers away, before he used the chain to knock the Kryptonite off his person, and at a far enough distance away from him.
With his strength returning to him, Raion easily broke free from the rest of his bindings, before he fell to the ground, his body alight with black flames. Marching forward, the Huntsman stomped on the chunk of Kryptonite, and shattered it to pieces, his flames destroying the green mineral entirely.
"A fire mage?" Lyon questioned. "Doesn't matter. He may have the elemental advantage, but he's no match for my strength."
"I'm out of here." Zalty said, backing up before running off.
"Ice Make: LION!" Lyon chanted, creating a giant lion with his one hand maker magic.
"Seriously?" Raion questioned. "Do you not even understand who I am?" The mage smacked away the Ice Lion like it were a fly, shattering it to shards, as they knocked over several worshipers. "I am Raion El Dorado, Fairy Tail's God of War. You made a big mistake when threatening that village, and the innocent people who live there."
Lyon looked at Raion, anger in his eyes as he sent another attack at the approaching man. Raion continued to destroy attack, after attack that had been sent his way. Reaching the Cold Emperor, Raion grabbed him by the front of his clothes, and raised Lyon off the ground.
"The hell makes you think, you have the right to choose if someone lives, or dies?" Raion questioned, slamming Lyon into a segment of a wall that was already barely standing. "Do you honestly believe, you have the authority to take someones life?"
"If they get in my way, then they die. It's as simple as that." Lyon coughed. "An' you will die as well. But the village down bellow will be first to go, and there is nothing you can do to stop it."
Raion's eyes widened in horror, before he turned to look over his shoulder, to see the giant rat he'd beaten earlier, flying through the air, carrying a large bucket, filled with what he feared was a highly lethal liquid.
"Now watch, as the people you swore to help, burn for the crime of getting in my…"
Lyon was unable to finish his statement, as Raion slammed him face first into a boulder, repeatedly, before the boulder was destroyed, with Lyon completely limp and knocking him out. Tossing the unconscious mage over his shoulder, Raion made sure his hands and ankles were bound tightly before, turning towards the village.
"Let's see what your followers think of you, when they see how I smashed your fucking face in." Raion growled, before taking to the air.
~Village a bit Earlier~
"So, what exactly was the God of War like as a kid?" Blake asked, sitting in a hut with the rest of her team, while they looked out the window.
"Well… his life wasn't easy." Yang said. "In fact, I'd go so far as to say our family, were the only bright spots in it."
"What about his parents?" Weiss asked.
"Raion never actually knew his mom." Ruby said. "Apparently she just up and left him with his stepdad, after he was born."
"The guy was an asshole." Yang stated. "The only motherly figures he had in his life outside our mom, were the women his stepdad would bring home. According to our dad, he'd come home with a new woman every single week. Some of them were nice to Raion, but none of them stuck around long enough for him to form a meaningful connection with."
"Then, there was a rumor going around." Ruby stated.
"What was the rumor?" Blake inquired.
"Well apparently the rumor goes, he got into some deep shit with some loan sharks, and they weren't too friendly towards Faunus. In fact, they were downright sadistic and cruel towards Faunus. Raion was always sort of a weak kid, scared of his own shadow even. But he never let that stop him from becoming a Huntsman." Yang said. "The loan shark business wasn't anything new, and he'd end up with all the beatings that were reserved for his stepdad, but the deadbeat was never around, and willfully remained in hiding until Raion suffered the beatings. Rumor has it, that prick sold Raion to slave traders on the black market, to settle his debt with the loan sharks not long after they found him."
"As far as we knew, he'd just ran away from home. But when we told our dad we found Raion at Beacon, alive and well, he told us the truth." Ruby said. "Our dad had been the one who formed the search and rescue teams that went out looking for Raion, for three months."
"Three months, for a kid that wasn't even his?" Weiss asked. "There's no way your dad had that sort of affection for him."
"Just 'cause your dad is a heartless bastard to you Weiss, doesn't mean all dads are. Our dad did have that kind of affection for him, our mom too, but that's a different story, for a different day." Yang said. "Point is, it was later learned after so many months of searching, that the rumor about Raion being sold to the slave traders was true."
"His stepdad had sold him off, for enough money to pay off the loan sharks, and then some. Apparently there was something rare about Raion, in his blood, that someone would pay top dollar for." Ruby added. "But when truth about what he'd done got out, Raion's stepdad was chased, deep into the Grimm Lands, where Zeref and Salem's castle is said to reside."
"You mean the Dark Wizard Zeref, and the Grimm Queen Salem?" Blake asked. "There's evidence Zeref had been real, but Salem? Isn't she just a fairy tale?"
"As far as we know." Yang said. "But a smart cookie like you, has to know that even the grandest of fables, have a shred of truth to their origins."
"She's not wrong. It's been a subject in philosophy for decades." Weiss said, before the door to their hut flew open.
"I apologize for the interruption, but you requested to know when your S-Class friend returned. Well he's arriving now." The Demon said.
Out of all four members of Team RWBY, Ruby and Yang had gotten up the fastest, and were already out the door. Weiss and Blake followed, catching up with their teammates, before they looked up with the sisters. Looking to the air, they both spotted Raion with someone over his shoulder, as he came floating to the ground, before dropping the unconscious man to his feet, with his back to Team RWBY.
"People of the village, we've got a problem." Raion said.
"Raion." Ruby called out to him.
Raion stiffened up when he heard that voice, before carefully turning his head to see Team RWBY standing there amongst the civilians.
"Raion, where the hell have you…" Yang began, marching up and throwing a punch at him.
"Yang, now isn't really the best time for this." Raion said, using Lyon as a shield to block the punch.
"Oh, so now you recognize us. You didn't back in the Emerald Forest when you saved Ruby from that murderer." Yang said.
"Please Yang, I can explain everything, but now isn't the best time for…"
"Then make time!" Yang exclaimed, stopping Raion as she lunged at him. "Did you even care, that we may have missed you. Did you even care, that our hearts might have been broken, from losing our big brother?"
"Yang, you and I both know I had no family ties to you or Ruby." Raion said, before ducking down and throwing Lyon into the air, resulting in Yang punching the ice mage in the groin, as Raion rolled away.
"Blood, is what makes you RELATED Raion." Yang said, marching to him again. "LOYALTY, is what makes you family. You might not share any blood ties with us Raion, but we still looked up to you like a big brother."
"Yang, I get it okay? You're pissed. But now is not the time for us to have this discussion!" Raion stated firmly. "Okay right now, there is a giant flying rat, using its tail like a propeller to fly through the air, carrying a bucket of what I can only assume is a lethal acid, and is gonna dump it all over this village."
"Who would do something like that to an innocent village?" Ruby asked.
"This asshole right here." Raion said, kicking at Lyon where he was on the ground. "Trouble is, I know what's causing the curse, and the moon doesn't have to be destroyed to lift it. But I can't take care of the curse, and these lunatics at the same time. Now we've still got maybe ten minutes before they get here, so we have a small amount of time to think up a plan."
"You're an S-Class aren't you?" Weiss asked. "Why don't you just take them down already?"
"Sorry Schnee, but even S-Class, no matter which Guild they're from, have their limits." Raion said.
"Phantom's S-Class mages would be able to handle this, no problem." Weiss said with a huff.
"It'd be a walk in the park if my powers were on par with that of a Wizard Saints, but right now it's night and I'm still feeling the effects of the Kryptonite that was hanging around my neck." Raion scoffed. "So I'm sorry, if my biology was vulnerable to it's natural elemental enemy."
"The what?" Yang questioned.
"Kryptonite it's… a mineral with radioactive properties that can harm a Kryptonian, which is what makes up half of who I am." Raion said.
"So there's Kryptonite on the island, what's the problem if you just avoid it?" Weiss questioned.
"The problem, Ms. Schnee, is that there shouldn't even be any Kryptonite in this universe, let alone on Earthland." Raion snapped back. "But apparently there are people out there who fear me for what I may or may not become, and have managed to make it synthetically. An' since the sun ain't out, and won't be for quite a while, I cannot recharge my power, like I normally would be able to do."
"How does the sun factor into this?" Blake asked.
"Kryptonian's gain their immense power from the radiation of a yellow sun. I'm half Kryptonian, so that rule still applies to me. But since I'm also half Saiyan, the moonlight works just as well for me, but not as fast. In fact, I'm regaining my power at a snails pace compared to the full on sunlight." Raion explained. "Kryptonite, has the radiation of a red sun. So it drains Kryptonians, until we're practically powerless husks of our normal selves."
"Alright, so what do we do to stop these assholes?" Yang questioned.
"First, a ground assault isn't gonna cut it." Raion stated. "We need aerial forces."
"You can fly, can't you?" Weiss questioned.
"Yeah, I can fly, but I'm took weak to do anything right now, let alone fight while flying, okay? It took every ounce of my concentration just to keep myself air born on my way to the village. However my magic allows for a workaround to the sun problem, but it requires another Godslayer in order for it to work. So unless you have one of those laying around your highness, I'm afraid we're gonna have to find another solution." Raion said.
"Actually…" Ruby said with a hiss.
"Just say it Ruby. What's on your mind?" Raion asked.
"Weiss, is a Godslayer." Ruby stated.
"Seriously?" Raion questioned, looking to Weiss who had a bit of a smug look on her face.
"Arctic Godslayer to be specific. My element is Ice." Weiss scoffed with a smile.
"Seems to track actually, Ice for the Ice Queen." Raion said.
"Enough bickering!" Yang exclaimed. "Raion, what does Weiss need to do in order to recharge your power?"
"I need to devour her ice. If I eat the magic of another Godslayer, my power will be recharged, without the need for any sunlight." Raion sighed. "It has to be a large chunk of it too."
"How large?" Weiss questioned.
"As large as half the village." Raion stated. "Anything smaller, won't be nearly as effective."
"Really?" Weiss asked.
"Uh Raion?" Ruby asked. "That giant rat you mentioned earlier, it wouldn't happen to be wearing a maid outfit, would it?"
Raion looked to Ruby, noticing she was looking upward, and a little scared. Following her gaze, Raion and the rest of Team RWBY, spotted a giant rat, wearing a maids outfit, in its paws, they saw the giant bucket of fluids.
"We're out of time. We need to get this done, now!" Raion stated.
"Do you really need that much magic?" Weiss asked.
"Just do it already Weiss." Yang said.
"Fine." Weiss sighed. "Is it okay if I just shoot the necessary magical power at you?"
"Yeah, just hurry up." Raion said.
Weiss huffed, before turning around and walking away.
"Where's she going?" Ruby asked.
"I think I know what's gonna happen." Raion said, as Weiss stopped, and turned back towards him. "Everyone within a ten foot radius might wanna step back."
The villagers did as Raion instructed, as Weiss drew a magic circle in the air in front of her with her rapier, and after inhaling, let off a breath attack that was sent straight at Raion. The S-Class teen braced himself, as he threw Lyon off to the side, before catching the necessary magical energy in his hands, and began devouring the power like it was going out of style.
"Raion, you might wanna hurry up with that magic refueling." Yang stated. "That giant rat just threw the contents of that bucket."
As Raion devoured the magic, his eyes were shut in concentration, before they shot open as he felt the magic was continuing, and wasn't stopping. As the shadow of the liquid overcame the village, Raion turned around, as Weiss's breath attack finally stopped, allowing for Raion to do his thing.
Moving faster then he'd ever felt himself move before, Raion zipped around the village, gathering everyone into the center, as if time had began moving slower for everything around him, while he was moving at a normal pace. Once everyone was gathered to the center of town, Raion stopped in the air above them, his hands covered in black mist, and black flames in his mouth.
"Flame Deity: Fire Explosive Shot!" Raion stated, spitting the powerful flames at the acidic liquid above them. "Arctic Deity: Divine Protection!" He cried out, falling to the ground, and creating a dome of Godslayer Ice over everyone gathered, right before the flames hit the acid, scattering all over the village as an explosion went off on impact.
As the steam died down from the acid devouring everything in sight, the ice dome showed it was damaged, but still standing strong. Yuka, Toby, and Sherry came into what remained of the village, to make sure the deed was done as Yuka kicked over what remained of Bobo's grave, but the three of them stopped when they saw the dome that had shielded the villagers from their acidic demise.
"What is that?" Sherry asked.
"Whatever it is, it's giving off powerful magic." Yuka said.
"You think it's an arctic turtles shell?" Toby asked. "It's got the pattern for it at least."
"I highly doubt it." Yuka scoffed.
Before the two of them could start bickering about what it could be, the ice in front of them, began to crack as the echoing sound of thunder rang out from the dome. But the clapping of the impacts were consistent, as if coming from a pattern of strikes, before the wall of ice cracked, as Raion stepped out, mist leaving his lips as he let out a deep breath, and looked to the three followers of the Cold Emperor.
"Hey gang." Raion said, his eyes glowing red with power, before what he said next, with the creepy way he said it, sending chills down their spines. "I'm, back."
