I DO NOT OWN X-MEN EVOLUTION!

Chapter 6: Unexpected Visitors

After settling into the mansion after escaping the frozen landscape with Remy, Rogue sighs as leans on her balcony, gazing out to the grounds of the large house. A lot of the X-kids were playing games out in the front; Evan playing a game of basketball with Scott, Bobby, Piotr and Remy, while Jean and Warren sat and watched. Kitty and Kurt were playing chess, but Kurt kept messing Kitty up by getting confused on some of the pieces.

Rogue's eyes went to Remy's figure, the New Orleans resident sporting a white tank top and shorts, his muscles exposed. She had to remind herself nothing can happen between them, especially not after what happened just a week prior of Mystique trying to kill them both.

She knew Remy liked her, she got that from when she absorbed him, but the thought of getting close to someone romantically again terrified her. Sighing again, Rogue leaves her balcony, not noticing the pair of red on black eyes gaze up to her balcony as she turns her back.

Lately she has been ignoring calls from Cody, too. Still nothing from her father, which she wasn't expecting after he had disowned her. Even if he accepted her as a mutant and let her go back home, things wouldn't be the same. They won't anymore.

School was a bit different as she went with the X-men instead of the brotherhood, the group of boys still picking on them all any chance they get. She had her normal classes like usual, even the ones with Remy and continued on as if everything was okay. Though that morning she had two missed calls from Cody that went ignored. The bell rings for lunch and she gets up immediately and rushes to her locker, Kitty noticing her and jogging to catch up. "Hey, Rogue, how's, like, it been?" Kitty asks, a friendly smile on her lips.

"It's been alraght ah guess." Rogue shrugs as she puts some books away and grabs her lunch.

"Anything interesting happen today?" Kitty tilts her head a bit, wanting to get to know her some more.

"Well, othah than mah ex constantly callin' meh, no." Rogue shuts her locker door, shrugging again.

"Wait, you mean as in ex-boyfriend?" Kitty looks at her in surprise, her mouth gaped open a bit.

Rogue avoids her eyes. "Well, ah mean we were only datin' fer lahke three months, but yeah."

"No way! But then you ran away?"

"Yeah…." Rogue moves a strand of her white bangs behind her ear, biting her lip. "Well, ah'm goin' ta lunch. See ya!"

She rushes out of there, but passes the lunch room and looks for a secluded spot outside. She finds it under a tree, sitting down with a small book and her lunch.

Remy had caught her walking outside. He grabs his lunch and heads out, looking around for her. He pauses when he spots a boy get out of a car and head straight for her, his eyes watching as he peers around a corner. He was within earshot of the two as he just watched. Rogue looks up once she noticed a shadow over her and gasps softly. "Cody?" She says, standing up abruptly.

"Hey, Anna-Marie," Cody gives her a nervous smile. "Ah've been tryna call ya fer a while. Why haven't ya returned any of ma calls?"

Rogue looks away from him, Remy noticing the pain in her eyes. "Ah told ya. Ah can't be with ya. We're not tagethah no moah."

"Ah don't care about what's goin' on with ya, Anna. We could figure it out." Cody grabs her gloved hand affectionately, surprising Rogue. "Ah'm soah ya dad is dyin' ta know where ya at."

Rogue yanks her hand away and crosses her arms. "He disowned meh…. Ah'm no longah his daughtah in his eyes…"

Cody looks at her, frowning. "Oh… 'm sorry ta heah that. Mah parents always lahkes ya though, ya can stay with meh."

Rogue shakes her head. "No, ah can't. Ah belong heah now. Ah'm dangerous, Cody. Ah can't go back home. Ah don't have one anymoah."

"Then tell meh what ah can do ta make ya come with meh!" Cody looks at her desperately, trying anything that could make her come with him.

But she gives him a sad look. "There's nothin' ya can do… Goodbye Cody…"

Rogue grabs her last bit of lunch and her book and walks away, picking up her pace so she wasn't tempting to turn around. Cody hung his head, walking solemnly back to his car, while neither Mississippi teens realized they were being watched. Remy looks at the ground, his mind processing what just happened. He can see the sadness in Rogue's eyes and the desperation in the others. Hearing that her father disowned her though made him mad but also sad that she had go through that.

Rogue wipes her eyes and looks down as she walked, not wanting anyone to see her cry. Unfortunately for her, she bumps into something solid and drops her stuff, causing the couple people that she ran into turn and look at her. "Hey, watch where you're going." It was Duncan.

"Sorreh." Rogue says quickly, bending down to pick up her things.

"Hey, what's a pretty thing like you doing alone at lunch?" Another jock asks.

"Just leave meh alone." Rogue snaps, her eyes glaring at Duncan's friend.

"Hey, he's just being nice." Duncan snaps back, the trio getting defensive.

Why Jean hung out with them was beyond Rogue. Rogue stands up, her things in her hands again, ready to walk away, except one of Duncan's friends grabs her, making her eyes go wide. "Hey! Don't touch meh!" She growls, elbowing the guy in the gut.

"That's it, I'm done being nice." Duncan glares at her, heading right for her to punch her, but someone grabs his arm and yanks him back.

Rogue looks and finds Remy glaring down at Duncan. "Didn' y' mom teach y' not t' hit a girl?" Remy asks, his voice cold.

"This doesn't concern you." Duncan regains his composure.

"Does now." Remy shrugs.

"You looking for a beating?" Duncan stands in front of Remy.

Remy smirks. "Tch. Seems t' me y' are."

Duncan makes a face at Remy, but before he could do anything Jean walks over. "Duncan! Aren't we supposed to be studying for that test at lunch?"

"Yeah, we are." Duncan smiles at her, then sends Remy and Rogue a glare.

Jean nods to the two southerners then takes Duncan and his friends inside to the lunch room. Rogue hugs her book close to her, Remy sighing in relief then looks at her. "Y' okay? Y' seem upset." He asks.

"Ah'm fahne." Rogue lies.

"Are y' sure, Rogue?" Remy asks again.

Rogue looks at him, making a face. "Yes, Ah'm fahne."

"Y' sure? Seems like y' lyin' t' me."

"Remy, Ah told ya Ah am fahne."

"Y' seemed pretty upset dough. Y' wanna talk 'bout it?"

"No, ah don't."

"Anna-" Before he could say anymore he shuts his mouth, noticing the look Rogue gave him once the first word slipped out.

"How do ya know?"

"What?"

"How do ya know?" Rogue demands a little more firmer.

Remy gulps. "I didn' hear much, but I saw y' talkin' wit' some guy." He lied, he wasn't going to tell her he was there for the whole thing.

"Cody. And he is none of ya business." Rogue says sternly.

"Well he didn' seem happy walkin' back t' his car. 'M guessin' he's an old boyfriend o' y's?"

"Maybe. Maybe Ah don't want ta tell ya, swamp rat."

Remy looks at her, feeling her mixed emotions. He sighs. "Y' don' have t' right now, but if y' ever want t', 'll be heah t' listen."

Rogue looks at him for a couple minutes. Deep down she wanted to tell him, but the other part of her told her not to, not yet at least. She wasn't ready to go back through all that pain just yet, so instead-after she takes a deep breath, Rogue opens her mouth. "Ah have ta get ta class…" Her voice was soft as she moved around him, holding her things close.

Remy frowns, figuring he might've pushed her boundaries. He sighs, sitting down and watched her hurry into the building. After finishing his lunch he went to class, a little late, but he didn't really care at the moment. The school day continues on, seeing her in his other class at the end of the day, but she ignored him as she was still contemplating what she should and shouldn't tell him.

The final bell sounds, all the students packing up to go home, the X-teens getting into the cars and heading back to the institute to do homework or training.

A black car pulls up to the front gates, driving through them once they open and stops in front of the mansion. A figure steps out of the car, adjusting the ring on his finger as he makes his way towards the front of the door. He knocks, Bobby answering the door. "Can I help you?" He asks.

"I am here to see Ororo." The man says, a calm expression on his face.

Bobby blinks. "Uh.. sure. Lemme see where she is."

"Thank you."

Bobby invites the man in, then looks around for the weather witch. "Hey, Ororo, there's a guy here looking for you." Bobby says as he found her in the kitchen with the others.

Ororo blinks, then gasps. "Oh! Thank you, Bobby."

She hurriedly leaves the room, the X-teens looking at each other while Logan, Hank and the Professor kept busy. "You guys, like, know something, don't you?" Kitty asks.

"Not my place to say." Logan grumbles as he rustles the newspaper.

"So you do know something." Scott says.

"Maybe." Logan grunts. "What's it to ya, bub?"

"We're just curious." Jean shrugs.

"Well, I am sure Ororo would tell you all when she is ready." The Professor says, a smile on his lips.

"Auntie O never mentioned a guy before…" Evan says as he thinks. "I'm gonna go look!"

"Hey, Evan!" Scott yells but Evan was out of the room, which soon the rest followed, mostly out of curiosity.

Ororo pulls back from the hug she had just given the man, a bright smile on her face. "I wasn't expecting to see you here for a while, T'Challa."

"Yes, well, I am just dropping by." T'Challa smiles as he places a kiss on her hand. "Can't check up on my wife every now and then?"

"Whoa, Auntie O, you never said you were married!" Evan's jaw dropped as he paused in the foyer.

The two turn to see Evan and the others enter the foyer, Ororo giving a shy smile. "Yes, well, I was going to tell you, Evan. Just had to wait for the proper time."

"So who is this anyway, Ororo?" Kitty asks.

"Forgive me, I am King T'Challa of Wakanda," T'Challa does a slight head bow, a small, chivalrous smile on his lips. "And de protector known as de Black Panther."

"Do you have any cool powers?" Bobby blurts, to which he received an elbow from Warren.

T'Challa chuckles lightly. "To an extent, yes."

"What brings you here T'Challa?" Logan asks, coming forward to shake his hand.

"Just dropping by to visit my wife and Queen. I am heading to de city to meet up with de Avengers. You should drop by some time, Logan. I am sure Captain Rogers wouldn't mind a sparring session with you."

"Avengers? Captain Rogers?" Scott raises a brow.

"A story for another time, Cyke." Logan looks over his shoulder. "Don't you kids got some homework to do?"

The X-teens disperse, Evan lingering a bit as he watched Hank, Ororo, Logan and the Professor interact with T'Challa, then he heads out through the back door to go skateboarding. "Man. I, like, didn't know New York City had their own heroes." Kitty gapes as she walks back into the kitchen.

"Yeah.. ain't it weird we aren't the only ones with powahs? Also weird how none of us knew Ororo was married." Rogue blinks.

"Don' fo'get Queen, t', chère." Remy pipes up as he slides back into his spot.

"Perhaps we will see him again someday." Piotr comments as he picks up a glass of water and starts to drink it.

"That'd be cool!" Kurt grins. "I vanna know who ze Avengers are!"

"One thing at a time, Kurt." Warren shakes his head. "Right now, I think the Professor wants us focusing on training."

"Ja, I know." Kurt slumps down against his seat.

"How is Wakanda?" Ororo asks as her and T'Challa roamed the grounds of the institute.

"It is doing fine. De people understand we have must also defend other places, as is the role of de Black Panther, it is my duty to protect Wakanda and as my duty as an Avenger to protect where we are needed." T'Challa nods as they walk.

"I am glad to hear that. It has been two years since our wedding. I should have told Evan sooner." Ororo looks at T'Challa. "But he must know that he is not my only family."

"Evan seems like a strong young man. I hope that someday he could visit Wakanda with you."

"I would like that." Ororo smiles.

"I must leave, but I will try to visit again and perhaps see what your students are like, maybe I could help train them." T'Challa gives a playful smirk.

"I think that would be interesting to see." Ororo chuckles.

"Till I see you again, my love." T'Challa pulls her in gently for a kiss, Storm's arms around his neck.

The two part ways, Ororo waving goodbye as she watched him get into the car and be driven off. She notices Evan heading towards her on his skateboard, him stopping in front of her. "So… how long have you two been married?" Evan asks.

"Two years." Ororo answers.

"Does my mom and dad know?"

"Yes, but we had kept our marriage for a secret for a short while, since he is King of Wakanda. I should have told you earlier, Evan, but I had some other things to do."

"It's fine, Auntie O. You gonna tell us more about who the Black Panther and the Avengers are? Or is that a Logan question?" Evan gives her a smile.

She smiles back. "Maybe. Though, T'Challa may come back another time and just show you all."

"That'd be so cool!"

Ororo chuckles, then she starts to take them inside. Meanwhile, Rogue had briefly seen the display of affection the two shared from a window, sighing as memories of Cody filled her head. She snaps out of it when she turns her head to a voice. "Y' spyin' on Storm an' 'er husband?" Remy teases lightly.

"No!" Rogue makes a face, but Remy smirks a bit. "Ah just happen ta see them outside the window."

"Mhm. Sure." Remy grins more.

Rogue felt her back against the wall, her eyes gazing up at his red on black ones. Remy was close to her, but not close enough to cross her boundaries. He gazed back down at her, his hand gently moving a strand of white hair behind her ear, showing off her two piercings, careful not to touch her skin. "Ah could hurt ya…" Rogue says softly.

"I don' care." Remy says just as soft as he leant down a bit. "'S fun t' take a risk."

Rogue shoves him back a bit, looking down-her bangs covering her face. "Not when it can put up in a coma-or get ya killed."

Remy blinks as he watched her storm out, Rogue clenching her fists and biting her lip as she briskly walked down the hall. She slams her bedroom door shut, putting her back against it as she felt her beating heart in her chest.

She flips her phone open, looking at Cody's contact info, then deletes it. A sigh escapes her as she rubs her face, muttering to herself softly. "Not again…."

She wasn't going to risk someone else's life for love, she didn't want a repeat of what happened to Cody happen to anyone else. Not ever again. Rogue sighs shakily as she goes to her backpack that she had put on her desk chair, getting out her homework and started working on it.

Remy, meanwhile, was sitting on his balcony ledge, playing with his cards. He charges on up every now and then, taking the charge away as he eyes the cards. His mind was obviously on Rogue, but when wasn't it? She intrigued him from the moment he saw her. Sighing and running a hand through his hair, Remy looks at the Queen of Hearts in his hand, his eyes narrowing a bit as a small frown was on his face as he was lost in his thoughts. "Hey, Remy, want to come out with us?" Warren snaps him out of his trance as he looks down in a bit of surprise.

"Sure, why not." Remy gives him a confident smile and shrugs, jumping down from his balcony with ease.

He follows Warren to the garage where Scott, Bobby, Piotr, Evan and Kurt were waiting. The guys get into a car, Warren driving instead of Scott, and drive out onto the long driveway towards the gate. Remy peers out of the window as they drove, catching a glimpse of Rogue walking by her window briefly before she was out of his sight, then it was just him and the other X-boys.

A/N: And that was Unexpected Visitors! I'm sure the Avengers would exist in this universe but wouldn't have much interaction with the X-men until the kids are young adults as the Avengers are just starting out in this story. And Cody found Rogue, but she unfortunately rejected him and sadly rejected Remy.

Until next time!
