Parseltongue Speech

Previously:

Akuira entered her tent with the man floating behind her and placed him in the extra bedroom. Casting a warning charm to ensure that she would be notified if he awakened, the female rushed to the laboratory to collect the burn-paste before taking some out and applying it gently on the man's charred flesh. Slowly, the burns vanished before her eyes leaving raw red skin.

It would take at least a day or two before he awakened naturally and she wasn't going to rush him. In the mean time, it was time for her to read up on more healing spells. She didn't want to be reliant on just that few spells she learned from her multiple trips to the infirmary. Potions could wait for a while. She still had lots of pre-made stock. Additionally, she could practice her wandless magic and work on her control at the same time.

Chapter 2

The man gasped as he jerked awake, stiffening in fear as his eyes darted around the territory. The last thing he remembered was- Fire. The nuke-nin had breathed a colossal fire ball at him. Even as it flew at him, he could feel the scorching heat radiating from it. Around him, his companions screamed, collapsing onto the ground one by one, lifeless, as the other nuke-nins had their way with them. Vaguely, he could remember his last-ditch attempt to avoid the blazing fire ball where he had thrown himself to the ground just before he felt the ground move below his feet. Fissures formed from the performance of a doton jutsu by another one of them, the strong force aiding his attempt to escape. Behind him, there was the sound of something being impaled through a persons's flesh and a pitiful beg for mercy. All he could think of was his beautiful granddaughter's face stricken with tears, left all alone in the world without anyone to care for her. I'm sorry. He thought as the sudden brilliance of light and heat washed over him.

The day had started out just like any other run-of-the-mill day when Emiko, the chief's daughter had came running to them informing them of the strange happenings in the forest. Animals were more active than normal and the plants- the plants had all sprouted overnight. Trees grew bigger and stronger and flowers-flowers that shouldn't even be opening in this season were already in full bloom. There were also fruits already ripe and ready to eat! It was nothing less that unnatural and phenomenal if it was true.

In response, the village chief had sent them to investigate the mystery. Not everyone was convinced of this of course. Some had thought that Emiko was simply hallucinating or so, and wanted to prove her wrong. So in the end, a group of ten had hiked up into the forest hills and they had gotten the shock of their lives.

They had stepped into wonderland. Overgrown plants towered over them, their massive leaves seemingly waving at their guests. Once sickly and weak trees seemed to vibrate with life. Flowers of every possible colour smiled at them from everywhere. Birds chirped peacefully from their nests and a squirrel ran past them somewhen up into a tree. A plethora of insects could be seen could be seen bustling along their busy lives.

Was this heaven?

One of his companions delicately plucked a fruit from a tree branch hanging overhead. A juicy crunch could be heard as he bit off a chunk of the bright red apple. "Kami-" he moaned in appreciation, a blissful smile decorating his face. "You have to try it."

Eagerly-but still a little suspicious- the rest of his companions broke off a plucked a delectable fruit of their own choosing, their faces of heaven once the taste exploded in their mouth.

He himself felt extremely tempted to bite one but unlike the other fools he restrained himself. They lived in a world of Shinobi for Kami's sake! Haven't they learned to never trust what was most likely the product of those battle-hardened warriors?

Still the others ate and ate, some on their seconds or thirds. A few broke out in giggles and started singing. Were they getting high off those fruits? Those bakas! Who knew what else it could do?!

A rustle broke him out of his thoughts before a shuriken whizzed past his head, missing by mere millimetres and impaling a body into a tree. He could only stare in horror as he saw the weapon sticking out right above Toko's heart as his body went limp with fear.

"Futon: Renkudan!" An air bullet slammed into Shintei's torso the power of the impact sending him crashing through several trees, his spine jutting out from a perilous angle. His death would be painful but swift.

One by one, they were killed like cockroaches.

A maniacal laugh broke through the ranks.

He couldn't help but close his eyes knowing his end was near. He knew he was drastically outmatched from the moment he spotted their scratched hitaitaes. He was just a common farmer after all. He could only pray that they wouldn't continue further and plague his village.

Goodbye.

.*.*.*.*.*.*.

The hare squirm helplessly as Akuira attempted (and failed) to heal its wounds wandlessly before its body gave up on it and it's spirit moved on to the afterlife.

"Damn it!" The red-head cursed wiping the drops of sweat off her forehead.

Contrary to popular belief, pouring more power into spells didn't necessarily mean increasing its rate of success. Of course, there are spells that produce positive results upon overpowering but there are just as many which require finesse and delicatecy. With a wand, any disadvantages of overpowered spells can be smoothed over as wands refine magic as it passes through the channel. Hence, spells cast become regulated, controlled, and not as dangerous as it would be wandlessly where the witch or wizard could power their spells in short big bursts of raw unrefined magic, destabilizing the entire spell.

A wand allows easier control due to the nature of its wood and core. The wood acts as a channel for the magic, giving off excess magic into the ambience while the core acts as a medium for magic, refining its users' magic through its own magical properties and absorbing the excess. Because cores originates from magical beings, once removed, it's very nature yearns to return to the times where magic is readily accessible to it. Hence, it becomes a make-shift magnet drawing the willingly-given magic from its users' magical core.

A normal incendio could put a person or two on fire, while an overpowered one could torch an entire forest in seconds. A normal Agumenti could produce enough water to fill a cup while an overpowered one would cause a flood. Have you ever tried overpowering a lumos? A normal overpowered lumos with a wand might temporarily blind a person, but if done wandlessly, especially in an environment filled with ambient magic to support it, it would create a powerful laser beam capable of cutting through complex molecular structures that cannot be stopped, only redirected or blocked at best.

Akuira removed another hare from the cage, her dagger slashing its body. Blood poured out from its wound, tainting its pure white coat. Her eyes narrowed in concentration. She was so close! The white glow that engulfed her hand slowly mended the mammal's tissue, accelerating its natural healing rate by forcing the cells to divide and knitting the layers of tissue back together. She couldn't help but smile in joy at another successful attempt. Now she had a rough success rate of 7/10 using wandless silent basic healing magic, and she could only hope it would get better from there.

A purple glow flickered into existence around Akuira's hand, wrapping around the hare's entire body as soon as her finger brushed its fur, allowing the diagnostic charm to run its course to search for any further unexpected injuries. Not a single black spot or dense purple cloud appeared anywhere, the spell glowing an even purple around the hare.

A familiar buzz at the back of her mind sharpened, her familiar making her presence known. Your guest has awakened mistress

Akuira immediately shoved the hare back into its cage, banishing the blood on her hands before dashing into her makeshift infirmary.

A loud scream tore through the tent. Akuira burst into the room, alarmed and paranoid, before snickering at the sight.

The man she had rescued was quivering against the wall under the unmoving gaze of her familiar - not that she could blame him. After all, she had yet to meet a man who could stare face-to-face with a giant six-foot serpent without a single ounce of fear.

Stop scaring him She hissed teasingly as she walked closer to the man holding her palms up in a gesture of peace.

Her beloved companion complied immediately, slithering up her hand towards her neck.

The man cowered further as if trying to shrink into a ball. "St-st-stay back!"

"Calm down, sir. I mean you no harm. I apologise if my snake scared you. She was just fooling around."

The man's eyes darted around, flickering between her, her snake and the door.

"Sir, calm down. Please." Akuira repeated. She would have preferred it if he would've calm down himself, but she wasn't beyond stunning him and forcing a calming drought down his throat.

"Wh-who are you? And where am I?" He demanded, his voice still audibly trembling.

Akuira held her palms open in midair as she walked towards him to show she meant no harm. "You're safe now. I found you lying half-dead in a ditch and brought you to my tent to heal you."

The man flinched involuntarily as the redhead walked closer. "Th-thank you." He whispered.

"You're welcome. What happened if I may ask?" Silently, she gestured to her familiar to make herself scarce least she scare the man again.

The man shuddered at the reminder of the horrifying ordeal that he had just encountered, and tears welled up in his eyes.

"I-" He choked.

Akuira walked over and stroked his back, comfortingly. It provided him with a small amount of comfort and allowed him to cool his thought temporarily.

"It's alright," she hummed, "if it's too painful, you don't have to tell me."

"No, I- I'll tell you." He chocked. "Me and my friends, we left our village to investigate some strange sightings. Then we encountered them. Those bastard shinobi." He spat, tearing up more. "They lured us with poisoned food and killed my friends one by one. Toko... Toko he... and Shinto... oh Shinto..." And the man wailed the sight of their tragic deaths haunting his mind.

Suddenly his eyes red with frenzy, he snapped and shook Akuira. "Was there anyone else? Tell me! Was there anyone else!?"

Akuira shook her head slowly, afraid to agitate the man further. "You were the only one still alive when I arrived at the scene. However, I did also see some dead bodies. I buried them at the place I found you."

"Kami." He whispered, half still in shock, half still in denial. "How will Toko's wife live without him, she's 7 months along. And Shinto, he has 3 daughters and an elderly mother to care for." Then he choked, a moment of clarity returning to his brain. "Oh no, the village!"

He desperately jumped out of bed and ran towards the tent's exit. However, his legs gave way below him, and he collapsed on the floor, sobbing.

Turning to the angel that saved him, he begged. "Please, please save them."

Akuria nodded grimly in silent agreement.

At her agreement, the man collapsed onto the floor, losing all form of composure.

"Sir?" She hesitated. "Is your village near where you were attacked?"

"Yes." He whispered. His voice barely audible.

"Alright, is there anywhere in particular I should check? Perhaps a safe house or location that the weak or vulnerable would run to?"

The man shook his head, his hands hands clutching his hair, unwilling to face her as he curled onto the floor sobbing.

"No wait there is one!" At the sudden memory, he shot up, eyes glistening unspoken hope.

"At the back mountain, there is a cave, you can get there through climbing down the well in the centre of the village. You can't miss it, the well is located next to the biggest house in the whole village!"

"Thank you." She whispered, embracing the man in a much-needed hug. "I will go over to scour the village now."

The man closed his eyes and shuddered, unwilling to accept the distinct possibility that he might be the only one left.

AN: Hello, everyone, and sorry for the years of silence. To be honest, this story was always meant to be a one-shot. It was written in a moment of inspiration and procrastination against my exams years ago, when I was deeply obsessed with both Naruto and Harry Potter.

However, I recently decided to restart my writing journey and fulfil my long-held wish of finishing a novel, which some of you may see in my works under the name of Ruby: Bloodborne.

As I looked through my notifications, I saw many readers continuing to add this story to their reading lists, and I finally saw the countless comments over the years encouraging for more. Thank you so much for your continued support, even after years of silence on my part.

Making use of the writing frenzy I had picked up due to my writing of Ruby, I tried to continue writing a continuation of this story, both as an apology and a sincere thank you to all my readers. I have to admit that it was really nostalgic interesting challenge to write in this more simplistic similar style once more. The character is also much lighter and purer than I'm used to now.

I hope you enjoy this brief chapter, even if it is much shorter than the previous one. I will edit the mistakes in Chapter one after I catch some sleep as it is currently 3AM. As for when my next chapter will be, I am not too sure either as my main focus will be on completing Ruby and the two writing styles are so contrasting it is hard to reconcile them. Nonetheless, I will be more active on Wattpad following this, so any extra inspiration I have may spill over to this fanfiction.

Once again, thank you for all your support.
