Rosalie rubbed her eyes not believing they weren't just playing tricks on her. She had been in her walk in closet trying to pick out an outfit to wear for when her mate came to visit her. She wasn't having that much luck and was becoming extremely frustrated. Rosalie wanted to ask for help but no-one but Irina knew that Isabella was coming by. Rosalie didn't want them to make a huge deal about it and try to barge in on their date so she asked Irina not to tell anyone. At least Rosalie hoped it would be a date. Isabella did say she knew they were mates. Well she said that she knew they were considered what vampires called mates. She wasn't sure exactly what that meant but was going to ask Isabella when she saw her.
It was the knocking Rosalie heard on her window that had broken her out of her mini panic attack but now that she saw what had been knocking she wasn't sure that she hadn't gone somewhat crazy. Standing on her window sill was a squirrel with what looked like a rolled up piece of paper secured around it's neck. It seemed the squirrel was getting impatient at Rosalie's lack of movement because it looked Rosalie in the eye and knocked again. Seeing the squirrel turn around Rosalie broke out of stupor and moved to the window and opened it.
If a squirrel knocking on her window wasn't surprising enough when the window was finally open it ran up Rosalie's arm and took a seat on her shoulder. Not sure exactly what to do Rosalie carefully grabbed the squirrel and held it in her hands. When it settled it stood on it's back legs and pulled at the paper attached to it's neck. Rosalie carefully detached the letter. When it was finally off the squirrel, the little creature made it's way out of Rosalie's window without a backward glance. Not sure what to exactly do Rosalie unrolled the paper and read the note written on it.
Rosalie,
I took care of the mind reader as I said I would but in doing so I found out that the human he claims is his mate is in fact not and simply his singer. It's because of this I have removed the girl's scent and erased her mind of any knowledge of vampires. She will simply believe that Edward is an ex boyfriend who won't give up on their relationship even though she has no love for him. He is going to bring her to your home so I need you to inform the others of this development so they can back up the story and save the human's life from not only the danger of Edward but the Volturi as well. If Edward tries to do anything to prove he is in fact a vampire Olivia will think she is dreaming and will never believe any of it so you don't have to worry about him trying something stupid. As I know you will try your hardest thank you for your help saving the human.
I will see you tonight,
Isabella.
Rosalie reread the letter three times before she ran down stairs. "Family meeting."
"What's wrong?" Tanya asked from her seat on the couch in the living room where most of the two covens were.
"We're here." Edith followed by Emmet ran down the stairs both their hair in disarray making it obvious what they were either doing or about to do.
Rosalie took a seat next to Tanya on the couch with Kate on the other side of her. "A squirrel brought me a letter."
"What?" Alice asked from her seat on Jasper's lap.
"I got a letter from a squirrel." Rosalie held up the letter.
"Did the squirrel write it?" Emmett asked earning a slap to the back of the head. "What was that for?"
"The squirrel didn't write the letter." Edith said.
"Back to the letter. Tell us exactly what happened." Tanya needed them to stay on topic or they would go off on tangents.
"Well I was in my closet trying to find the right outfit to wear for when Isabella comes to visit me later…" Was all Rosalie got out before Kate interrupted.
"She's coming here?" Kate screeched. Seeing Rosalie nod Kate all but crawled on to Tanya's lap. "We need to leave. Right now, we need to pack up and go."
Tanya pushed Kate as hard as she could to get her out of her lap. She only succeeded in repositioning her to the side. "No one is leaving. Now you said Isabella is visiting you later."
"Yes, when Irina and I met her in the forest she confirmed she knew we were mates and promised she would come visit me tonight to talk about it. I didn't tell anyone because I was afraid you would all try and interrupt our alone time together." Rosalie told them.
"That's fine now let's get back to the letter." Tanya was going to have to ask Rosalie if she would be allowed to meet the woman when she visited. As a coven leader it was important that she make sure that they were in fact on good terms with someone who could kill the whole lot of them.
"So anyway." Rosalie said getting back to her story. " When I was in the closet I heard knocking on my window. When I looked there was a squirrel standing on the sill with a letter attached to it's neck. I opened the window and he came in and ran up my arm and sat on my shoulder."
"Are you serious?! You got to cuddle even more forest creatures!" Kate didn't think that was fair at all.
"I did." Rosalie confirmed. "Once I had the letter the squirrel left."
"What does the letter say?" Tanya asked.
"Here." Rosalie handed it to the coven leader figuring she would be the one who would know what to do with the information.
Tanya read the letter twice before she looked up at the group. She was happy that it was just her coven and all the Cullens except for Carlisle, Edward and still hadn't come back yet and Carlisle and Esme were in their bedroom with the door closed so they wouldn't have to worry about being overheard "It seems that Isabella has claimed that she followed though on taking Edward's gift away."
"Thank god."Edith was beyond happy they didn't have to deal with being violated every time Edward was in the room.
"That's not all she claims though. She has confirmed our belief that Edward is not mated to the human. She is simply his singer." Tanya was surprised by the lack of reaction the Cullen children showed hearing the news. "You guys knew?"
Alice nodded. "We have tried to bring it up to Carlisle but he refuses to believe us."
"I'm not surprised." Eleazar knew Carlisle didn't have even the basic knowledge of vampire behavior. Him not knowing the difference between a singer and mate bond wasn't surprising.
"Isabella said that because of this she has erased not only the girl's scent but her memory of vampires as well and has made it so that the girl thinks of Edward as an ex boyfriend who won't give up getting back together even though she doesn't love him." Tanya told them.
"Oh man that's priceless." Kate laughed thinking of how pissed Edward was going to be when this all came to light.
"What if he tries to prove he's a vampire by showing off?" Irina asked.
"Isabella made it so even if he does the human will only remember it as if she had dreamt about it never believing that it was actually real. Isabella said that she did all this so that the girl would be safe from not only Edward but the Volturi as well." Tanya was impressed with how far Isabella went to save a single human.
"That means she knows about vampire politics." Jasper wondered how Isabella was involved in the supernatural world. It was obvious she had knowledge of vampires so it would be of great interest to him to know exactly how she learned about them.
"Carlisle quickly!" The group all turned their attention to the front door where Edward was running through it holding Olivia. The human looked uncomfortable and confused.
"Bring her to my study." Carlisle had gotten a call from Edward saying that his mate's scent changed and she no longer recognized him. As soon as they hung up he prepared his study so he could properly examine the girl.
"I think that's my cue." Rosalie said as she made her way up to Carlisle's study.
"I'll come with you." Tanya figured Rosalie would need help dealing with both Edward and Carlisle.
"What is wrong with her?" Edward didn't know what was going on with his mate. He could no longer smell her scent and she wasn't showing him any affection.
"There is nothing wrong with me Edward. Now let me go or I will call my father and have him arrest you for kidnapping me!" Olivia didn't know what Edward's problem was. They were broken up. She didn't know why he wouldn't take the hint that she didn't want him.
"Edward what are you doing?" Rosalie asked when she walked in to find Edward forcefully holding the human down while Carlisle was taking her vitals.
"Rosalie help me!" Olivia knew Rosalie would help her. The blond had always been on her side.
"Carlisle get the hell away from the girl." Tanya growled as she saw Carlisle moving towards the human with a syringe.
Carlisle ignored the other coven leader. "Don't worry Olivia I'm going to take some blood to do some testing to see why you don't remember Edward."
"I said get away from her!" Tanya rushed Carlisle before he had chance to actually stick the girl with the needle and slammed him against the wall. "What the fuck do you think you are doing?
"Leave him alone." Edward made a move to attack Tanya but before he knew what was happening his back was on the ground with Rosalie's hand around his throat holding him down. He tried to read Rosalie's mind but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't. "Why can't I read your mind?!"
Rosalie smirked at Edward. Now that she had confirmation Edward no longer had his gift she realized she never had to deal with the lack of privacy anymore. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Yes you do." Edward focused on the rest of the house. He could hear people moving around but he couldn't tell what anyone was thinking. "You all did something."
"No one did anything Edward."Tanya said. She squeezed Carlisle's throat one last time and released the man. "Touch the girl again and I will rip your head off."
"We need to find out what's wrong with her." Carlisle didn't understand why Tanya wasn't as concerned as he and Edward were.
"There is nothing wrong with her other than Edward kidnapped her." Rosalie released Edward and kicked in the side making him hiss in pain.
"I did no such thing." Edward denied. "There is something wrong with my mate so I simply brought her here so Carlisle could examine her."
"Olivia why don't you have Alice take you home. I think you should talk to your father about filing a restraining order against Edward and Carlisle." Rosalie wanted it to be documented that the pair had done this so they would be the first people looked at if they tried this again. "If you want I will make a statement to back you up on what happened."
"I think I will." Olivia gave a surprised Rosalie a hug. "Thanks for always being there for me Rosalie. I knew I could count on you to keep me safe."
"Come on, Jasper and I will take you home and wait with you until your dad gets done with work." It was left unsaid but everyone knew Alice meant they were also going to make sure Edward didn't try and get the girl again.
"Wait you can't leave. We need to know what's wrong with you." Edward would have prevented Olivia from leaving but Tanya and Rosalie were blocking the door.
Olivia stopped walking and paused at the door. "The only thing wrong with me is that I got involved with you. I don't want to have tell you again. I don't love you and I don't want to get back together with you. Leave me alone."
Tanya waited until they heard Alice's car pull away before turning her attention to Carlisle and Edward. "I'm giving you both a warning. The human Olivia is under my and the rest of my coven's protection."
"We claim her as well." Rosalie told them. Hearing a chorus of agreement from Edith and Emmett.
"You have no right to claim my mate." Edward growled.
"She is not your mate. She was your singer. If you took a minute to actually think about it now that her scent has changed you probably feel nothing for the girl." Tanya told him.
Edward hadn't felt the pull he usually had for Olivia but that was because something was wrong. "Something happened to her. I don't feel the pull because she's sick."
"She's not sick. Her scent has changed and you no longer crave her blood." Tanya said.
Edward shook his head. "That's not all. She said she doesn't love me. We all know that's not true. She's my mate, she will never stop loving me."
"No matter how much you she wish she was, Olivia is not your mate. She is a human who has requested for you to leave her alone." Rosalie cut off Edward before he could interrupt. "I am going to follow through with having her file a restraining order against the two of you so you don't try and do this to her again."
"Rosalie! You have no right to keep Edward from his mate. As your coven leader I demand that you stay away from Olivia. You just want to keep Edward away from her because you are jealous he has a mate and you don't." Carlisle wasn't going to stand for anyone interfering with Edward and his mate's relationship.
"Actually unlike Edward I do have a mate. A very powerful mate at that." Rosalie made sure she made eye contact with Carlisle before she spoke. "As a coven leader you have continually put the needs of yourself and Edward above us. Due to that I am no longer willing to be in any coven with you as not only the leader but a member as well."
Carlisle flinched back like he had been physically hit. "You can't do that."
"She can and now that she isn't a part of your coven I am offering her a place with the Denali." Tanya gave Rosalie a smile of encouragement.
Rosalie stood up straight feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders. "I accept your offer thank you."
"Then it's settled. Rosalie is now a Denali. So on my order she has every right to keep Edward away from the human." Tanya smirked at the look of disbelief on Carlisle and Edward's faces.
"You can't do that. You can't just take a member of my coven and force my son to stay away from his mate." Carlisle couldn't believe that Rosalie would betray him and the family this way. He had saved her from a horrible death and this is how she repaid him. He wouldn't let this be forgotten. He would have to regroup and decide what to do about not only Rosalie but the Denali as well.
"I just did." Tanya turned and motioned for Rosalie. "Let's go to your room. We have things to discuss."
"Sure." Rosalie gave one last look at her former coven leader and Edward. She had been worried about having to deal with Carlisle's disapproval but now that she not only had a powerful mate but the backing of Tanya and the rest of the Denali coven Rosalie wasn't worried about any repercussions. Carlisle would never be able to harm her. Isabella had been right when she said he was a weak vampire. He had never made any effort to learn how to properly use his vampire abilities and had discouraged the rest of the Cullens from fight training with Jasper claiming it was barbaric and would make them lose more of their humanity. Luckily Jasper had been insistent that they learn just in case. The only ones who hadn't trained with him were Carlisle, Esme because Carlisle wouldn't allow it and Edward because he claimed with his gift he was far superior than everyone and no one would be able to defeat him. Rosalie wondered what life was going to be like now that Edward no longer had his gift. She had no doubt that he wouldn't be humbled like a normal person would be and try to repent. He most likely would be plotting with Carlisle for a way to get it back. Rosalie honestly didn't care what they did. They had no way of harming her anymore so now they could be someone else's problem.
