"What?" Rosalie asked when Bella grabbed her arm and held her back from walking further into the hotel room. Rosalie along with Bella and her driver Errol had walked to the room while Sebastian left them to go get something to eat in the hotel restaurant. Rosalie wasn't sure why Errol was with them because from what she could tell Bella could more than handle herself if confronted by any threats and even if she couldn't Rosalie was more than capable to protect her mate.
"Let him do his job." Bella said.
In less than a minute Errol came back. "The rooms are clear your holiness."
"Thank you Errol. Now why don't you change back and sit on the couch so I can look at your leg that is obviously hurt that you didn't want to tell me about." Bella had sensed the injury and knew that Errol didn't tell her because he didn't feel he was worthy of receiving healing from her.
"It's fine your holiness. It doesn't need your attention." Errol told her.
"The couch Errol." Bella gave him a stern look as she pointed at the couch.
Rosalie watched in a mixture of awe and horror as Errol's human body changed into what she figured was his fairy form. Instead of like Bella who had almost serene, delicate features Errol look all out scary. His ears were pointed just like Bella's but that was really the only similarity. His face was all sharp lines and his teeth were pointed and looked incredible sharp. Although he had wings they weren't the same as Bella's. His were a dark green that matched his skin. They looked fleshy like a bat's wings. Rosalie was in agreement with Sebastian, fairies that didn't look like Bella were creepy and looked like they were straight out of a horror film.
"Now stretch out your leg." Bella ignored Rosalie's startled expression. She knew that seeing what Errol looked like would probably make Rosalie's belief that Bella was half angel solidify ten fold. Reaching out and touching Errol's leg Bella extended her magic to find the injury. "You broke your kneecap. If you weren't going to tell me why didn't you visit another healer?"
Errol shrugged. "It was my turn to watch over you."
"Of course." Bella knew that like the others who volunteered to look after her Errol would never skip his turn even if he was hurt. "You will feel a second of sharp pain as I need to move your bones into place to mend them properly."
Rosalie watched as a green light seemed to encompass Errol's body before focusing entirely on his knee. She became concerned when the man cried out in pain but calmed down when his face relaxed completely. "How are you healing his knee?"
"I'm using my magic to repair the bones back to what they should be and mending the ligaments, muscles and nerve ending that were damaged as well. Just another second and then." Bella paused for a second. "There done."
Errol sighed as his whole body was now relaxed. "Thank you your holiness."
"You're welcome Errol but next time you are hurt either tell me or go to a healer. If you don't then you will no longer be welcome to be my caretaker." Bella warned.
"I promise I will." Errol said.
"Good now you can go home for the night. We won't be leaving the room and if we wish to I will send word to let you know." Bella told him.
Errol stood, changed his appearance back to human and made his way to the door. "Of course your holiness. Have a good night."
"You as well Errol." Bella said to him as he walked out the door. Once the door closed behind him Bella turned her attention to Rosalie. "Sorry about that. I had sensed his injury and although he was doing a good job of hiding it I knew he was in a lot of pain."
"If he was walking with a broken kneecap of course he would be in pain." Rosalie didn't remember exactly what pain felt like but knew it wasn't pleasant. "Why didn't he tell you he was injured?"
"It's all silly really. Some of my people who believe that whole half angel story don't feel like they are worthy enough to get healed by me." Bella explained.
"I think you really are half angel." Rosalie said. "I saw the way Errol looked and you look nothing like him."
Bella sighed. "I am not half angel."
"How can you be so sure?" Rosalie asked.
"I think I would know if I was half angel." Bella hated that people thought she was. It made them treat her differently and she didn't like that.
"Maybe not." Rosalie disagreed. "I mean you don't know who your parents are do you?"
Bella shook her head. "I never looked for them."
"So maybe one of them really was an angel." Rosalie said.
"The whole idea that I could be an angel is just silly. I mean how do you know angels are actually real?" Bella asked.
"Well they could be, I mean I didn't think fairies where real and you proved me wrong on that. It isn't that far fetched to believe that angels exist." Rosalie noticed that Bella wasn't quite comfortable with this conversation so she decided to change the subject to something she had wondered about. "Why did you decide to become a singer?"
"I was wondering how soon you were going to ask me that." Bella sat down on the couch and motioned for Rosalie to sit next to her.
Rosalie skipped the couch and sat directly on Bella's lap instead. Noticing Bella's raised eyebrow she spoke. "What? You are more comfortable than the couch."
"If you say so." Bella was amused at how Rosalie easily fell back into their old ways of always having physical contact with each other. After the first time they met they had always had some kind of contact with the other. Be it a hand on an arm or a head on a shoulder. They were always close.
"I do say so. Now why are you a singer?" Rosalie asked again.
"For Sebastian. After he was old enough we traveled around to different towns still looking for you. We followed leads on vampire sightings hoping that it would eventually lead to you. Between looking for you and my duties in the fae world we never had that much time to actually do what he wanted. He knew I was involved in the music industry in the 20's and 30's and had always been fascinated by musicians. When I decided it was time to take a break from my responsibilities I gave him the option of picking what he wanted to do next. He asked if we could try our hand as performers. Unfortunately Sebastian has a horrible voice and didn't like the idea of starting a band with humans so he begged me to be the singer. I who of course can never deny my son anything agreed." Bella explained.
"So you decided to become a singer because your son wanted to be a musician?" Rosalie thought it was sweet Bella would go through so much trouble just to make Sebastian happy.
Bella nodded. "He wanted to play to tens of thousands of people and have fans sing along to songs he wrote."
"That's really sweet of you." Rosalie said.
"It is what it is. I've told him many times he doesn't have to stay with me and can go explore the world on his own but he says he doesn't want to be away from me. I don't know how much of that is the bond at work and how much of it is just him liking being around me." Bella always wondered if Sebastian actually really wanted to stay around her or if it was the bond affecting his feelings.
"I think he just likes being around you. You can tell by the way he acts and the way he looks at you. He truly loves you and I think he would whether the bond was there or not." Rosalie could see it in the way Sebastian seemed to preen when he had his mother's attention and could hear the pride in his voice when talking about Bella's abilities and achievements.
"Well now that we have finally found you I'm afraid you are going to be involved in his many schemes. After working on the soundtrack for that movie he has been talking about trying his hand at screenwriting." Bella told her.
"Wait he would involve me?" Rosalie asked.
"Oh yeah. He has been told about you all his life. Many times during his younger years he would ask when were you going to come home so we could finally be a family." Bella said.
"It's weird to think about a person I never met has known about me for decades." Rosalie hadn't even thought Bella was alive so the thought of her not only living but having a son was something she was having trouble wrapping her mind around.
"He's not the only one who's known about you." Seeing Rosalie's confusion Bella explained. "As soon as I recognized you as my mate my people were informed."
"So the other fairies know about me as well?" Rosalie asked.
Bella nodded. "It is big deal in my culture when one of us finds their mate. Week long celebrations are held at a minimum. With my position within the fae society there will be numerous banquets and we will probably have to go on an official tour of the lands to introduce you as my consort."
"Wait, we will have to go on tour?" Rosalie wasn't sure how she felt about hearing this.
"It would be an absolute insult to not formally introduce you." Bella didn't like the idea of having to go through all the official customs but she would never deny her people their want to celebrate her happiness.
"I think I will have to get use to this won't I?" Rosalie was starting to figure out that Bella was a bigger deal than she was admitting. She would have to talk to Sebastian about what Bella's role in fairy society really was. Rosalie had a feeling Bella would just continue to downplay how important she was.
"You'll have me and Sebastian to help you along the way and if things get to be to much then I can always interfere." Bella promised.
"I guess I'll just have to follow your lead." Rosalie said.
Bella snuggled Rosalie close. "It won't be that bad. We don't have to live in that realm full time if you don't want to."
"What do you mean realm? Don't you just live amongst humans?" Rosalie had thought that the fairies just disguised themselves as humans and lived amongst society.
"No we don't. We actually have our own world that can only be accessed with fae magic. Without an official escort humans can't cross the borders." Bella explained.
"Seriously?" When Bella nodded Rosalie found she had a lot more questions. "Are there realms other than fairy ones?"
"I don't know. I'm sure there are but I personally have never tried to find any." Bella wasn't interested in other cultures. She had her hands full enough with the fae and the humans she didn't need any other complications.
"That's so wild to think that we aren't the only beings out there." Rosalie went back to the topic of Bella being half angel. "If there is a fairy realm isn't it possible that angels could be from a different realm as well?"
Bella sighed. "I admit that it could be possible however I am not half angel."
"Seriously how can not think that?" It was more than obvious to Rosalie now that she learned of different realms.
"Because it's not true." Bella wasn't going to fall into the whole her being a higher power. It wouldn't be healthy to think like that.
"Maybe it's not true that angels are messengers from a god but they could be a different species that mated with a fairy. It isn't like humans and fairies can't be mates. Who are we to say that they can't be mates with something else." Rosalie said.
"How about we leave the angel talk for you and Sebastian to have when I'm not around." Bella figured if the two of them hung out then they could focus the angel talk between themselves and leave her out of it.
"Alright I won't push." Rosalie would however talk to Sebastian. She bet that he knew more things that would be proof of Bella's heritage.
"Thank you." Bella kissed Rosalie on the forehead. "I don't like thinking about my parents. Some people can be really fanatical when it comes to it."
"I really didn't think of that aspect. Do you have problems with that?" Rosalie didn't think of the downside of people thinking Bella was half angel.
Bella nodded. "I have had people try and start churches dedicated to me and when I was younger there were attempts at kidnapping me to get me away from the fae church."
"No wonder you don't want people thinking you are half angel." Rosalie wouldn't want to be subjected to those kind of things.
"Let's talk about something else." Bella said.
"How about you explain to me how you are going to change me back to human?" Rosalie asked.
"That's actually very easy. I'm going to infuse you with my healing magic and will your body to revert back to human. You see humans weren't meant to be altered. Vampirism is kind of a virus that infects your blood and because of that your body naturally wants to repair itself back to it's natural state." Bella explained. "It is actually easier to change you back to human than it is to help someone conceive."
"Will it be painful?" Rosalie wasn't sure it would be that easy but she trusted Bella.
"No, you won't feel a thing. I will put you to sleep with my magic and while you are out all the changes will happen then. When it's done I will wake you back up and you will feel like you had a good nights sleep." Bella told her.
"So you've done this before?" Rosalie asked.
"I've done this a couple times. I find that most vampires I encounter don't particularly like being one. The ones I've met that haven't tried to kill me are often the ones I offer the chance to change back." Bella said.
"Well that's good to know." Rosalie would be worried if Bella had never changed someone before. She didn't know if she would be willing to try if Bella hadn't.
"Now Sebastian should be back any minute. I'll get you some comfortable clothes to change into so we can begin when he returns. He would be upset if we didn't wait for him." Bella knew Sebastian was interested in seeing Rosalie turn to human because he had never seen someone changed before. Her son was interested in all things magical and Bella sometimes wished she could give him some of her own so he would know what it was like to have it.
"That sounds good." Rosalie easily agreed. She had already made plans to steal some of Bella's clothes so the fact Bella was making it so easy wasn't something she was going to complain about. Standing up from her spot on Bella's lap Rosalie was surprised that she didn't feel nervous about what was to come. She was actually excited about it. She had been holding herself back from being to physical with Bella for fear of hurting her but when she went back to being human nothing was going to stop her from getting her mate naked again. Maybe Bella could send Sebastian somewhere so they would have a few hours alone. Smirking to herself Rosalie amended that thought. She was going to need more than a few hours to even begin to relieve the ache she had for her mate.
