"There's a second Slayer?" Willow asked, confused. "How?"

"That's what I want to know." Buffy said. "I thought there could only be one - me!"

"Well Buffy, you did die. You must have been gone long enough to Call a second Slayer."

"You died?"

"Only for like a minute."

"Yes, Xander revived her with CPR when she drowned. Regardless, that isn't the problem right now. I believe Drusilla may be attempting a ritual to regain her strength."

"Who is Drusilla?" The new Slayer, Kendra asked.

"A vampire who is also a seer. The ritual requires the presence of her sire. We need to find out who her sire is."

"Angel is her sire." Buffy said.

"And you didn't think to tell us this before?" Xander asked.

"I didn't think it mattered."

"It matters Buffy." Giles said, exasperated. "Vampires lineages have a connection to each other. One they can exploit."

"Well I didn't know that!"

"You would if you bothered to learn anything!"

"Giles! Yelling at me right now isn't going to help. Now this ritual, will it hurt Angel?"

"It will quite possibly destroy him."

"Then we have to make sure he's safe!"

"This Angel is the vampire I saw you kissing? He may already be dust. I managed to secure him in a holding cage at his lair."

"You attacked Angel?!" Buffy screeched.

"He is a vampire! We are Vampire Slayers, it is our duty!"

"He has a soul!"

"Which he has because of a curse. A curse you risk breaking by being with him. You are endangering all of our lives. Not to mention, everyone else's. If Drusilla does have him, this is not a rescue mission. They both must be destroyed." Giles said.

"Giles, how can you say that?! I love him! We have to save him!"

"No, we don't." Xander said. "No matter how much you want to believe he's a person, Buffy, he's not. I will never be able to understand how you manage to avoid seeing the demon or the dead body. But I will not risk people's lives to save a vampire. This won't be a rescue mission. It'll be a search and destroy mission."

Buffy ran out, refusing to hear what they were saying.

"Xander, Giles how can you be that cruel? She loves him!" Willow said.

"She's never bothered to get to know him, Willow." Xander said, tiredly. "She's living a fantasy and risking all of our lives to do it."

"I fear we have even more trouble and I didn't have the chance to tell Buffy about it. That ring she and Angel found on their attacker? It's the sign for the Order of Taraka. A league of assassins. Some are humans, others demons. It seems Drusilla may have hired them to help ensure her recovery. They're going after Buffy."

"Then we need to find her. Cordy has a car. I'll call her and ask her for a ride. We'll check out Buffy's house. Kendra, you go back to Angel's lair. She may go there to see if he's still okay. Willow, you and Giles stay here, in case she comes back."

"Agreed."

"I agree." From Kendra.

Later as Xander and Cordelia are driving to Buffy's house.

"So Giles finally said something to her about dating a vampire?"

"Yes, and she really doesn't want to hear it. She ran out before he could tell her about the assassin's."

"I admit, I can understand the initial attraction. His human face is handsome, but once you know he's a vampire, it's just gross." Cordelia said.

"I know. But she manages not to see it. Same with Willow. I just have this feeling in my gut, that it's a disaster waiting to happen."

As Xander and Cordelia are searching Buffy's house, Cordelia hears a knock on the door. She answered to find a door to door salesman, who offered her free cosmetics. She invited him in, only to notice a bug crawling across his face.

"Xander!"

Hearing the panic in Cordelia's voice, Xander charged back down the stairs from the second floor where he'd been looking for Buffy.

"Cordy?"

"Demon!" She yelled, just as it exploded into thousands of bugs.

Xander grabbed her and pulled her into the basement with him. They managed to seal the bottom of the door and moved down into the basement. Eventually, growing bored waiting, they began to argue. Then Xander grabbed Cordelia and kissed her. She enthusiastically responded. Xander backed her against the washing machine and continued frantically kissing her. When oxygen became an issue, they stopped to breath.

"We have to get out of here, remember? There's a demon upstairs." Cordelia managed to gasp.

"Damn, you're right. But this isn't over. We need to talk about this. Gods, I knew kissing you would be incredible. I didn't realize it would also practically take the top of my head off."

"Really? Okay, not the time, but you're right, we do need to talk."

"Alright, it's been quiet up there. It's possible it left, regardless and boy is that a Giles word, we need to try to get out of here. So, I'll open the door, you run for it. I'll be right behind you." He said, grabbing the broom. "Unfortunately, you're kinda having to play bait here. But one of us has to."

Grimacing, Cordelia nodded and agreed. Xander eased the door open and peered out. Seeing nothing, he motioned Cordelia out. She eased out and Xander followed her. As they were making their way to the door, bugs rained down on them from the ceiling. Screaming, Cordelia raced for the front door with Xander right behind her. Outside, Xander grabbed a hose and washed the bugs off of Cordelia, before the two got in her car and returned to the library.
