This is a crossover using Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, and Frankenstein by Mary Shelly.

Notes: I do apologize for the rush job, but I've been out of practice in writing for a while so please bear with me.

It had taken at most a day and a half, but they finally reached their appointed country of Switzerland. However, to reach this remote village, they had to take a horse carriage. It was something that wasn't unusual for the three. However, it was about five or so miles out from the station. tThis tiny village was very secluded, and landlocked. The most prominent feature was the creepy castle that was off in the distance overlooking a rather deep ravine. The trio looked around and noted that the villagers were very dour. They did their jobs, and they made sure they didn't get sidetracked by idle conversation. Once they reached the center of the village, the carriage driver frowned. He knew he had to go to the castle. He spoke up as soon as they got there, and he made clear that something wasn't right.

"Do you know why you're here?" The driver asked.

"That's what we're aiming to find out," Holmes answered honestly.

"If you need advice, I'd suggest you take a blade or a pistol with you," he remarked. "That guy is quite insane."

"What you do you mean by that?" Lestrade asked.

"It's quite simple this guy was run out of Germany for doing some very twisted things," The driver warned.

"I see," Watson said, "we'll have to be on our guard then."

"Right then," the driver said, as he was paid by Lestrade, "I will leave you on your way."

They thanked the driver and took their luggage to the castle themselves. This is why they packed lightly. It was a bit of a walk, but they made it to the giant door. Holmes used the knocker and the sound reverberated through the castle, and got the scientist's attention. Holmes looked around and noticed that it was noticeably creepy. He noted there were bars on the windows and cobwebs around said bars. He also noted that the ravine was a very steep drop for anybody not careful in their step. He then looked and saw that there was brown, dead vegetation nearby suggesting that these lands have been neglected for quite a long time. Holmes had an uneasy feeling, as did Watson and Lestrade. It was way too late to turn back now. The door opened on its own and they went in. As soon as the final man and his luggage cleared the thresholds...

WHAM!

The massive door slammed behind them. Holmes knew that door would be locked and wouldn't be able to be gotten through by ordinary means. They looked around the creepy castle, and it was dimly light, and very unsettling. There were no colorful coats of arms, or shiny suits of armor. There was barely any fencing swords there, and as Holmes pointed out, this castle was unkempt...even for the standards of hard constructed castles. They made their way through to the giant manor, and looked for a room where all three of them could stay. The scientist realized that he couldn't make himself known, nor could he come out and greet them...just yet.

"I'm getting this feeling..." Watson started.

"That we're being watched in secret?" Holmes finished.

"It is very unsettling," Watson declared.

"We should first find a place to place our luggage, and find a place where we should eat," Lestrade suggested.

"That should be the first priority," Holmes answered firmly.

They made their way through the castle. It was very lifeless, with cobwebs everywhere. The three found a rather large room, which was suitable. They weren't enthused about how dusty it was, nor how ramshackle everything was. Holmes shook his head and he decided they'll have to make the best of it. The stone floor with a blanket, though uncomfortable, would seem to be a lot better than what the alternative is. Holmes also reasoned that he was one step closer to answering two questions at once. The question is: Who sent the letter? The second question is: is this a trap? Watson saw the glint in his eye he knew that Holmes was putting things together.

"Did you figure out something?" Watson asked.

"Yes, when that door slammed and locked on us...that mean that we were indeed lured into a trap," Holmes answered.

"You're saying the only way out is to..." Lestrade started.

"To find the controls and to get out as soon as possible...but I think our 'friend' here has decided he wanted to play with us," Holmes then deduced.

"What do you mean?" Watson asked confused.

"It's quite simple," Holmes said, "this person wishes to use us for something quite horrible...but we don't know what it is yet."

"We should be on our guard, and to be careful on what we eat or drink," Lestrade warned.

"That is prudent...first we shall clean up, then make this our base of operations for the time being," Holmes suggested.

"Yes, it is also foolish to wander off alone," Lestrade then said gruffly.

"Lestrade, I wish to try an exercise with you," Holmes returned.

"Oh, what advice do you need?" Lestrade asked.

"Think about this...if you were to trap somebody in a castle...what exactly would you do?" Holmes started.

Watson and Lestrade thought about it long and hard. It is true that humans have the capability of committing atrocious acts, but at the same time. They actually started to play along, and they were making sure that they didn't eat, or drink anything unusual. The scientist knew as much and made sure the food was not adulterated, or drugged. The last thing he wanted was to have a dead person right away. In fact he was acting like a lion playing with his kill before doing them in. The trio cleaned and dusted everything off, or as best as they could, and finally settled in. They decided to find to see if there was a dining room, and some food to eat. They reasoned they were going to be there for at least one day...maybe two if they were lucky. Hey stayed together to make sure nobody peeled off. They found a strangely bright room in the castle, and it was the cleanest rooms there. The dining room and kitchen were rather large areas for three people. Holmes went in and saw the food that was laid out in the pantry. Watson was concerned, but Holmes calmed his fears.

"It would be too obvious to poison the food, and have a dead body right off," Holmes said.

"Are you sure it's safe to eat?" Watson asked apprehensively.

"Of course," Holmes said directly, 'it's either we eat, or we starve."

"I vote we eat," Lestrade said.

"That's the spirit!" Holmes said quite quickly. "Let us get things cleaned up and ready to cook."

"It shouldn't take us much time at all," Lestrade said. "Whoever did this made sure wee had everything laid out."

"Yes...and we'll put everything back in its place when we're finished," Holmes warned.

They immediately got to work to start to cook, but as they found, it wasn't as burdensome as it would have been. It was made easier that everything was prepared before hand. This was very strange. It's like this person was toying with them. Left with no legitimate choice, or no escape to go to a pub, they prepared the meal. It was not exactly extravagant, but just enough, of meat, potatoes, and some vegetables. They then ended up setting the table, and making up the table. After that, they started eating. Holmes looked around to notice if there was anything out of place. He really didn't want things to fall out of place. As for Lestrade and Watson they ate quietly. After, the three cleaned their dishes up, and put them away. They decided it was time to get rest.

"We should hurry and rest," Holmes said. "It would make zero sense for us to be up already."

"Yes, it would make things worse if we were up that long," Lestrade warned.

Watson was quiet, as they went through to their room. They closed the door and barred it off. They didn't realize that there was a secret passage that would lead from their room, to the labs. In fact it was something that he noticed straight up when they were cleaning things up. Holmes also noticed this, and made a note of it mentally. Lestrade yawned and he lay on the bed. As for the others, they also went to sleep. However, they didn't know that their sleep was going to be destroyed...and they would be in for the fight of their life with this scientist. Holmes was on alert. In fact, there was little time for them to think about anything. Right at the height of the night, with the full moon flashing in…there was a creak coming from the bookcase that connected this room to this lab. This roused Holmes awake, as he saw somebody. He then knew the answers to his base questions would come…but now some new questions were rising…and he didn't like the answers her was going to get.
