"W-What?"
The silence echoed deafeningly in the bright and clean hospital room. He looked at Amy with an incomprehensible expression. What he had just heard was inconceivable.
Finally, the diagnosis.
The nurse smiled slightly and said, "I'll leave you alone." She added, "And congratulations to the couple."
Amy couldn't look into Sonic's greenish irises. She couldn't even breathe without feeling disgusted and guilty. Everything was her fault. It felt like hell on Earth, a punishment for a sin she wasn't sure she had committed.
The world seemed so pointless, hopeless, and lifeless.
"Amy... I'd really like you to explain to me what's going on."
All she wanted was to just... disappear. Stop breathing and forget about all her pain. Everything that had happened to her since the day of her birth.
"Amy. Can you please answer me?"
Could it be that by remaining motionless and quiet, she might experience the pleasure of her existence disappearing into the emptiness that consumed her chest?
"... or at least look at me?"
Probably not.
Either way, Rose continued to stare into space. Tears ran down her exhausted face from time to time. The shock of the news did not show outwardly; she just stayed there...
Immobile.
Inconsolable.
Embittered.
Sonic sighed, approached her, and then crouched down so he could get into her field of vision. She moved her eyes to him, which in turn pointed to the purplish marks on her neck.
"They're hickeys, aren't they?"
Silence.
"Amy... did you cheat on me?"
Silence. The purest silence. The female hedgehog stood before him, seeming so quiet, he wondered if she were a hologram.
Suddenly, a fire entered her eyes. Amy looked at him as intensely as she could. The strength of her gaze was so powerful that it made him hesitate to ask anything else.
Exactly how did she cheat? Was it assumed or something else? Did he know absolutely nothing about what was going on.
"Ames...?"
"Go away, Sonic," she spat, her voice coming frail and fragile from her dry, cracked lips. "I don't want to see anyone right now, especially not you."
He widened his eyes slightly in surprise and slowly pulled away.
"Okay, I... I won't bother you anymore."
Sonic gave her one last look, before finally opening the door and leaving through it.
Amy turned onto her side on the stretcher, feeling extremely uncomfortable. The pain down there was still great, and the urine test had been extremely difficult; she hadn't been drinking much water lately, apart from the pain. The nurse thought that what was happening was normal bleeding during the initial period. But no one, not even her closest friends, knew the truth like she did.
The only recent hydration had been the serum they placed intravenously into her veins.
With nothing to do and disconsolate, there was only one thing to wait for her. Tears flowed endlessly from her once happy eyes.
The reality, however, was hard and cruel.
Worse yet, it was impossible to change.
[...]
Sonic left the hospital and started running fast. As if that would make him forget every conversation he had previously had with Amy.
"Go away, Sonic," she spat, her voice coming out fragile and weak through her dry, cracked lips. "I don't want to see anyone right now, especially not you."
Nothing could get out of his head. It kept spinning in a damned agonizing spiral. All plans went down the drain.
Could she have been acting strange simply because she couldn't keep it together? Had she acted like anyone else, irresponsibly with his feelings?
Or after all, was it his fault? Had he done something wrong?
After taking Amy to the hospital, he slept for about two days straight. The doctors said it was due to exhaustion.
Cream, her best friend, and the boyfriend of the rabbit, Tails went to the hospital too, but they didn't get to enter her room the entire time Sonic was there.
After this period, they heard a sound of retching coming from the room where she was. So he and the nurse hurriedly went there. He couldn't imagine what could have happened, the only certainty was that something had happened. She looked really strange, oblivious to everyone around her, as if she were dead inside.
It was as if it were hollow, empty.
Furthermore, her sensitivity to touch also caught his attention. What the hell would have happened?
He even thought that Amy had betrayed him and was embarrassed because one time or another he would find out, whether from her or someone else. However, upon reflection, it didn't make much sense. At the same time it did too much.
He couldn't think of anything else to say about everything that was happening.
Sonic continued running through the park at full speed; his legs were shaking, but he desperately wanted to stop thinking about it.
"I must, first of all, congratulate the couple," said the nurse at the end of the urine test, as the blood test was unfeasible in her case, as she was still bleeding, which is common during the initial period.
"Like this?" the boy asked confused.
Yes, indeed, you are growing up.
"Ma'am, could you please speak more clearly?"
"Oh, of course." she looked warmly at each one. "Miss Amy Rose is pregnant."
Oh, guys!
Amy's pregnant? how?
Please, let me know your thoughts about this, i'll appreciate every rate.
Im out! :D
