AN: kamenrider13489 - You have some interesting ideas; and in the past, I have thought about doing some of those things. But right now, we're doing this story. So, if you have something to say; then please, make it about this story! Stop suggesting new story ideas to me!

Ryu wolf - Of course I'll include her. Introducing Laura, is something that I'm very excited about. But, It's going to happen on schedule. You will meet one of the X-Men Evolution charters, early on, in this chapter though. And as for Laura being the older sibling, not happening! At most, She looks like she's 14.

Meaning, that in my story; Jack would have been around for 2 years, before she was even born. Making him, her big brother. I thought that would be a cool little idea. It would be fun to play with that dynamic.

Also, I wanted to take the time to explain the reason behind the different fonts; that you will see, in this chapter, as well as the ones of the future. Just so you don't get confused. Each font, will represent a different type of speech.

Examples of speech

Standard font = Regular speech.

Bold font = Telepathic communication.

Slanted font = Remembrance of previous quotes/inner dialogue.

If any of you are having trouble with remembering all this. Don't worry! I'll be sure to properly identify the correct form of speech; during my description of who says the quote, and how. Now, with all that, out of the way.

LET'S JUMP INTO IT!

A few days went by, since Jamie learned the truth about the Autobots. Whenever Jack would stay at The Institute; Jamie would come and visit Arcee, in the garage. He would make sure that the coast was clear; before he started to talk to her. He never told any of the other Mutants, about the Autobots. It felt good for him to know something, that none of the older students knew. It made him feel special/cool. Every so often, he would also be allowed to visit the Autobot base.

It was later in the day, that Jack and Arcee returned to base. Jack was in a rather sour mood. Something that Raf and Miko, picked up on. When Miko got close enough, she saw that Jack's shirt was damaged. It was singed in a few spots. There were some gashes. The last thing she noticed; were the small holes, in the front of his shirt. She poked her finger, in one of the holes, and felt around.

"What happened?" Miko asked.

"I got shot." Jack answered.

"Again?" She said, with both surprise, and amusement.

"Yes." Jack retorted.

"Jack, what did you do, before you came to base?" Raf inquired, as he approached his friend. Jack then told his friends about the misadventure he had, earlier that day.

Flashback

Jack had just gotten off work; and he and Arcee were now, currently, on their way to base. They were driving down the desert highway; when they came upon an accident. There must have been a car crash; because there were a lot of vehicles, that had been damaged. Some were piled on top of each other. There was broken glass, and crushed metal, everywhere you look. Smoke was coming off of a few of the cars. A lot of the people, had minor injuries. But others, were more severe.

Two police cruisers, formed a perimeter around the accident site. Just then, Jack got off of Arcee, while still wearing his helmet. He ran towards the disaster.

"Jack, where are you going?" Asked Arcee.

"I'm going to go see what happened. Maybe I can help!" He told her. As he got closer, he saw the police try to rescue, and help as many people as they could. But there was one man and woman; who were trying desperately, to get back into the accident site. The woman was screaming at the police officer, to let her pass. But the officer refused to let either of them pass. It was too dangerous. When Jack approached one of the cops; he asked him what was going on. The cop said that those two were parents; and that their son was trapped in one of the cars.

Without even taking another second to think; Jack ran past everybody, and straight into the accident. He quickly identified the car, that the boy was trapped in. The car was flipped over; and part of it, was on fire. Meaning, that Jack didn't have much time. If he didn't get the boy out of there, soon; the car could explode, with him in it. The boy was panicking, in the back seat. Jack tried to open the door; but it was jammed. He could break a window. But he might not have enough time to crawl in and get him. Then, an idea came to him.

"Stay calm! I'm going to get you out. But I need you to do something for me. Stay low! And no matter what; keep your head down!" Jack instructed the boy. The boy was scared; but he nodded his head. This was confirmation, that he would do as Jack told him. Jack climbed on top of the car's undercarriage. The metal was hot enough to burn his hands. But thankfully, the burns healed quickly. Then he popped out his claws; and began slashing at the bottom of the car. He kept cutting away at the floor of the car, that surrounded the boy.

Soon, there was a hole; big enough for him to reach down, and grab the boy. "Give me your hand!" Jack said, as he reached out towards him. The boy was too afraid. He had seen what Jack did; and he flinched when the teen move towards him. Jack took note of this. He took a look at his hand; and saw that he had not yet, retracted his claws. The boy must have been terrified. Jack then put away his claws. "Don't be scared! I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here to help!" But despite him saying this, the boy was still afraid. He was going to have to try something else.

Jack lifted up the visor of his helmet, before he spoke again. "I need you to trust me!" After a split second of looking into Jack's eyes; the boy felt as if he could trust him. He reached out, and took his hand. Jack pulled the boy out of the car. Some of the flames were burning through parts of his shirt. But he didn't let any of the flames, get to the boy. He ran from the car; with the boy, in his arms. The visor of his helmet, was once again closed. The car exploded, shortly after that. Jack returned the boy to his parents. His mother was all too eager to take him from Jack's arms.

Everyone there, saw what Jack did. Jack was patting the flames on his shirt, in an attempt to put them out. The people that were present; saw the burns on Jack's skin, miraculously heal. This made the boys family, take a step back, in fear. Then, one of the police officers approached Jack, with his gun raised.

"Take off the helmet; and get on the ground!" The officer ordered.

"The kid's fine." Jack reaffirmed. But that didn't seem to dissuade the officer. "He's fine." Jack repeated.

"On the ground, now!" The officer commanded, for the second time.

Jack raised his hands, in defense. "Whoa, easy there! Now, I didn't do anything wrong. Nobody got hurt. So, how about you put the gun down; and I'll just leave?"

"I'm not going to tell you again, freak!" The officer said, while still aiming his gun.

It was then that Jack finally understood. They didn't care that he saved the child. They were afraid of him; simply because of the things that he could do. The people at The Institute, were right. People fear, what they don't understand. To them, Jack was always going to be viewed, as something separate from them. "You know what? I'm not even supposed to be here. I just stumbled across this accident, by chance. I wanted to see if there was anything I could do. Now, I'm gonna go." Jack said, as he started to walk away.

Then the officer shot him; and he fell to the ground. Everyone thought it was over. But after a few seconds went by; Jack rose to his feet. His body pushed the bullets out of him; and his wounds were soon healed. "Ow!" Jack said. The people were shocked. The officer raised his gun; preparing to fire, again. But before he could; Jack rushed past everyone, and got on Arcee. They drove away, as fast as they could. They kept driving, until they reached the base.

End of flashback

"All I wanted to do, was help." Said Jack.

"And you did." Arcee commented. She wanted to help, make him feel better.

"But that didn't matter to those people. I thought that was the point of all the training I was going through. To use what I've been given, to do go. But if you think today was bad. Just wait until the public finds out about the existence of Mutants! They're going to freak out. It's a good thing I was wearing my helmet. At least they won't be able to tell who I was." Jack lamented.

During all this; there was only one question, rattling around in Miko's head. "So, what's it like, to get shot?" She asked.

"Really? That's your take away? From the whole story?" Jack said.

"What? I'm just curious." She added.

"It has been one of the most painful experiences, of my entire life." Answered Jack.

"Really?" Miko wondered. Ever since he got his powers; Jack has been through a lot. Was getting shot, really that painful; compared to everything else?

"You know what? Why don't I just paint you a picture?" Jack said, in a snarky remark; before he continued. "Thus far, I have been shot by 2 Humans, and 3 Cybertronians. If you were to ask me which one hurts more. I don't think I'd be able to give an accurate comparison. They're both equally painful. Getting shot with a bullet; means getting hit with a mental projectile, that's traveling, at least, 100 mph.

After it makes contact with the body; it rips through several inches of skin, muscle, and sometimes, even bone. Your arteries rupture; and your blood vessels are torn apart. Now, depending on where you're shot. You may die quickly. Or, you could die slowly. But, that kind of pain; can make even a short time, feel like an eternity of suffering. And that's just if a person shoots you, with a regular gun.

Do you know the worst part about getting shot with an Energon blast? The worst part, is that those blasts, carry heat, within them. I usually end up coating my skeleton; in the same metal, that covers my claws. That way, my bones are durable enough; so that one Energon shot, won't blast off a limb. Or something like that. But regardless; metal bones, and an Energon shot, are not a good combo. Because then, the metal gets superheated. It's like being cooked, from the inside out.

You smell burning meat. Kinda like hamburger. And it's only then, that you realize; that smell, is your flesh, being cooked and boiled. So, now you know what it feels like, to be shot with a bullet; and by an Energon blast. Both of which, are extremely painful." Jack's long, and colorful description of being shot; really grossed Miko out.

"Geez!" Raf commented.

"Yeah. Anyway, I gotta get going. I have to be at The Institute, later today."

"So, you're going to The Institute, today, huh? Well then, I bet you're excited to see your new girlfriend!" Miko teased.

"Miko, who are you even talking about?" Jack questioned. Jack knew that she was making fun of him. But at the very least; he wanted to know who she was referring to.

"Oh, you know. A certain brunette, with a white streak in her hair. She's got a thing for eyeshadow, and dark lipstick." She continued.

"You mean Rogue? You do remember; that I can't even touch her, right?"

"Well, that just makes her more desirable. She's something that you can't have. And I bet that drives you crazy!" Miko shot back.

"Miko, even if you were right; and I'm not saying you are. She likes Scott."

"Then why isn't she with him? You gotta have more confidence in yourself, Jack! You're a handsome guy. You got cool Mutant powers. You're nice, and you're dependable. You're a total catch. Any girl, would be lucky to end up with you. And based on what I saw. I think you two are made for each other. I'm serious!" Miko told him.

"Well, this has been super enlightening! But I gotta go now." Jack said, in an obvious attempt to try to brush off what Miko said. Then Jack and Arcee used the Ground Bridge, to get to The Institute. The portal opened, in a secret spot; where they were met by Jamie.

This had become a regular thing. After he learned the truth; Jamie had gravitated towards them both. The day was business, as usual. Training sessions; and when it got late, it was time for bed. As Jack was laying in his bed; he kept thinking about what Miko said, about Rogue. She couldn't have been right. Could she? That very question, kept him tossing and turning. Until he finally managed to fall asleep.

On that same night, when everyone slept soundly, in their beds. No one could have predicted what was going to happen next. Lance Alvers, aka, Avalanche; payed a visit to The Institute. He was wearing his Avalanche suit. It consisted, mainly of a black body suit; with some red parts. For protection, it had some metal padding. Complete with a glass, dome-like helmet; that fit over the top of his head. Lance was carrying a brown traveling bag, over his left shoulder.

He stood outside the gate to The Institute; until he used his powers to create a seismic trimmer, and knock the gate down. He then proceeded further towards The Institute. An alarm went off; waking everybody up. The security systems were activated. Turrets popped out from all over the place. Lance was surrounded by weapons. The X-Men were gearing up; to meet their intruder. Even Jack got suited up. Lance used his power; to make quick work of the turrets. He kept walking; until he was stopped by the X-Men.

"Somethin we can do for ya, Bub?" Wolverine said, as he pulled out his claws.

"Yeah. I've come to join the X-Men." Lance stated, as he crossed his arms, with confidence.

The X-Men were blown away, by his response. They all had shocked expressions, on their faces. He couldn't be serious. Could he? After all the fighting that they did with Lance, and the Brotherhood. Now, he wanted to join them? Just like that? It felt too good to be true.

"You're kidding, right?" Kitty asked.

"You heard me! I want to be an X-Man. I'm serious!" Lance reaffirmed.

"Yeah right! And I want to be The Tooth fairy!" Logan joked, while putting his claws away. The only person who was willing to hear Lance out, was Professor X. He invited everyone inside; to finish this conversation. Charles asked why Lance wanted to be an X-Man. Kitty was also curious. She wondered if he wasn't happy; living with the Brotherhood, anymore. He told them that he liked the Brotherhood, just fine. Scott felt as if Lance wasn't being serious. Scott demanded answers. He had little tolerance for any of Lance's jokes.

Lance told everyone, present; that he just felt like it was time for a change. Charles could see right through Lance. He knew full well, why he was doing this. But he still gave him a fair chance. As long as he was serious; did it really matter, why he wanted to join them? The Professor extended his hand; as a sign, that he was willing to give Lance, the benefit of the doubt. Scott was off put by this. Lance got up; and shook The Professor's hand. Scott tried to object. But The Professor, instructed him otherwise. He then told Kitty to take Lance, to one of the guest rooms.

Before either of them got too far; Jack got up, and walked towards them. He wanted to introduce himself, to Lance. He's heard some of the stories about the Brotherhood. But he also knew the importance of second chances. If they were going to do this; then he wanted to start off, on the right foot. "Hey! Wait a sec!" Jack said; causing Kitty, and Lance, to stop in their tracks. Jack took off his mask; and extended a hand of friendship, to Lance. He was a little hesitant. But eventually, he took Jack's hand.

"My name's Jack Darby. I'm Wolverine's son."

"Really? Huh! I didn't know Wolverine had a kid." Lance proclaimed, before ending the handshake.

"Yeah! People not knowing; has become a common occurrence, around here. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello; and to welcome you, to the X-Men." Jack said, while trying to be polite.

"Uh, thanks!" Lance murmured. Lance and Kitty, then continued to walk to the door. Kitty phased right through the door. Lance waited for a bit; until Kitty came back, and playfully pulled him through the door. Everyone else left the room; leaving only Scott, Jack, and The Professor.

"Professor, I think this is a mistake! I know Lance. He wouldn't do this; unless he wanted something." Scott voiced his concern.

"Yes, I agree. What he wants, is to be near Kitty." Charles stated.

"But-" Scott tried to argue.

"I believe he's genuine about his feelings for her. And maybe, that's a good beginning. Now, let's give him a chance!" Charles said, before he rolled out of the room. Jack didn't know any of this. But it all became so clear to him, now. Lance was attracted to Kitty. That's why he was here. He was willing to change himself, for the girl he liked. That was admirable. But he could see that Scott was still struggling with this. For as long as Jack's known him; Scott has always felt like the big brother of the group. He looked out for everyone else.

"You really don't trust him. Do you?" Asked Jack.

"No, I don't. I've led the X-Men into battle, against the Brotherhood, many times. As leader, it's my job to keep my team safe, and coordinated. And I know, in my gut; that Avalanche is going to disrupt that, somehow."

"Well, he's here. And until he's not; you're going to have to get over the how, and why. Just, give hime a chance! He might surprise you." Jack advised. He then started to leave the room.

"Yeah, I doubt it!" Cyclops said, offhandedly.

The following day, marked the first day of Lance's training. He was seated inside the X-Jet; along with Jack, and many other X-Men. They were letting Bobby fly the jet. The jet was flying out of the hanger, at top notch speed. This made Lance, a little queasy. They then made it to the open skies. Bobby was having fun; until the jet started to fall out of the sky. They were in a tailspin. This went on, until the X-Jet crashed. When it was over; it was revealed, that it was all just a flight simulation.

Jack was amazed at how bad Bobby was, at flying. He also put in some time with the simulator. Even he could fly better than Bobby. When Bobby got out of the simulator, he was pumped. "Hey, did you see? Were you watching? This time, it took me twice as long to crash and burn!" He said to Logan.

"Yeah! Look, kid! That kind of hot dogging; ain't going to cut it, in a real battle! You gotta think; before you start playing cowboy commando!" Logan scolded. Lance was talking to Kitty. He waited until she left; before he ran out of the room, like he was going to hurl. Charles caught the end of Logan's lesson to Bobby. He had some concerns to voice.

"Don't you think you were a little hard on him? I mean, after all. You've been known to do a little hot dogging, yourself."

"Yeah. But people like me, and Jack; can walk away from a crash. They can't!" Logan reasoned. Towards the entrance of the room; Kurt could be seen, sweeping the floor, with a broom. He was on probation, for some unknown reason. At least, it was unknown to Jack. Logan told him to get back to sweeping; before reminding him that he still had another week of probation. He told Kurt, that when he was done sweeping; he could then mop out the simulator. Kurt did as he was told; but hated every minute of it.

Outside, the class had another training session. There were remote controlled turrets; that fired buzz saw blades, at them. Each student, would be shot at, with four blades. The goal was to take out the blades, before they made contact. Jack went first. He had it better than most of the students. If a blade had managed to hit him; he knew that he could recover from it. It would just hurt, a lot. He took that as an incentive, to do his best. The blades came flying at him. He managed to deflect; or slash apart, every single one of them, with his claws.

Magma was next. She managed to take out two of the four blades, with her fireballs. Cyclops blasted the two, that were still coming for her. Iceman went after her. He froze all of the blades, that came at him. He felt so good about himself; that he didn't even notice when one of the frozen blades, was still coming for him. Thankfully, Cyclops managed to blast it away. The last person to take his turn, was Avalanche. He was wearing the traditional suit; that every X-Man trainee wears.

"Hey! New uniform looks a lot better than that fruit bowl, you used to wear!" Cyclops commented, while putting his hand on Lance's shoulder. Lance brushed off the jab that Scott took at him. Lance used his powers to take out the turrets; before they even had a chance to shoot. Aside from Jack, Lance was the only one to complete the course. Everyone was happy for him. Everyone, except Scott, that is. Something that Jack picked up on. He went over to talk to Cyclops.

"I don't get it. What's your problem with Lance? He shows up, like everybody else. And just like everybody else; he tries his best." He wanted to know the reasoning behind Scott's treatment of Lance.

"You don't understand! You haven't fought with Avalanche, before. Not like I have. He's arrogant, greedy; and he's only in it, for himself. He's only with the X-Men, now; because he wants Kitty. But, take that away; and you really think he'll side with us, over our enemies? You don't know him. He's dangerous! We can't trust him." Scott declared.

"You know what? You're right. I don't know him. All I know about the Brotherhood, is what I've been told. But ultimately, I'd say that's a good thing. It's because I don't know him, that I don't judge him. Not like you do. Based on what I know about the Brotherhood. They were used, and taken advantage of; by Mystique, and by Magneto. They were kids, seeking direction. No different from the X-Men. The only difference between you guys, and the Brotherhood; is that Professor X wants something that Magneto doesn't. Peace, and coexistence.

Scott, I've made mistakes. I've done stupid things, in the past. I can't think of anybody, who hasn't. But I was always given the chance to make things right. Everyone deserves a second chance. Now, maybe the Brotherhood really believed in Magneto's cause. Or maybe they didn't. I don't know. But, were they ever given a chance to choose what they wanted? Did you ever think about that?" After Jack walked away; Scott felt like he had just been scolded by The Professor. Jack was right. They were never given a choice. Scott hated it, but he was right.

Next came the Danger Room session. Lance had some trouble with it. But he eventually made it to the finish line, with the rest of the students. However, that didn't stop Scott from activating a mechanism, that slammed against Lance's back; and sent him right to the ground. Jack was in the control room, with Scott. He saw what he did. It was a very childish thing to do. Jack later found Lance; and told him not to worry about the Danger Room. He told him that it took him a while to get used to it, too. He appreciated Jack's sympathy, but he didn't know how to respond to it.

Then they went outside; and began water rescue training. Some of the students, were in the pool. The ones that weren't; were supposed to try and save the ones that were in the pool. Each student had an assigned victim. The whistle was blown, and they began. Lance was supposed to save Rogue. But he ended up hitting her in the head, with a life preserver. He dove in the water. Cannonball was going to save Kitty; but Lance just shoved him out of the way. He wanted to save Kitty, himself. Scott helped Rogue to shore; before Lance got out of the water, holding Kitty, in his arms.

"Wrong victim, Alvers! And you just drowned two people!" Scott lectured.

"Yeah. But look who I rescued!" Lance said, while still holding Kitty, bridal style.

"Creep!" Rogue murmured, as she shoved both him, and Kitty; back into the pool. Jack went after the now upset, Rogue.

"Rogue, are you ok?" He asked, out of concern.

"Fine!" She answered, in an agitated state. She then continued to storm off.

Some time later, Jack ran into The Professor; while he was making his way towards the garage. Storm was with The Professor. She got into the driver's seat of a limo. She then waited for Charles to get in. "Professor, are you going somewhere?" Jack inquired.

"Uh, yes. I have a small errand to run. It's a scheduled appointment, with a friend. She's been having a tough time; and I've made it a point, to try and help her."

Jack couldn't help but wonder if this person he was going to help, was a Mutant. It wouldn't surprise him if she was. The Professor was always doing his best to help out other Mutants. "Would you like some company?" Asked Jack.

The Professor placed his hand against his chin, in thought. "You know, that's not a bad idea. Hop in!" The Professor instructed; as the door to the limo opened. Jack wasn't all the way expecting him to say yes to his offer. But he didn't argue with him, either. They both got in the back seat of the limo, and it drove off. As they drove, Jack wanted to know more about what was going on.

"So, tell me about this friend! Who is she? Where is she? Where are we going?"

"Her name is Wanda Maximoff. She is the twin sister of Pietro Maximoff."

"Pietro Maximoff? Why does that name sound so familiar?" Jack knew he heard that name somewhere before.

"You might know him better as the handle of "Quicksilver." "

Then, it was like Jack was suddenly hit with a spell of remembrance. "Oh, yeah. Now I remember. You told me about him. He's a member of the Brotherhood. The one with super speed."

"That's right. Both he, and Wanda; are the children of Magneto." Charles clarified.

"We're going to see the daughter of Magneto?" Jack understood that Professor X, and Magneto, were enemies. So, why was he on his way to see the daughter of his greatest enemy?

"Yes. That's why I thought it would be a good idea for you to come. She might connect better, to someone who's closer to her age. You see, a long time ago; Magneto had her committed to a mental institution. He hasn't been to see her, since."

"Wait! He just left her there? Why?" Jack questioned.

"Unfortunately, her powers became too difficult to control. That, combined with her volatile emotional state; created a dangerous mix. I have been working with her, for some time, now. My Hope, is to one day, get her out of that hospital. There is a place for her, at The Institute. But as things are, now; it's much too dangerous. I'm worried that the more time that goes by; the more frustrated she'll become."

When they got to the hospital; Jack noticed that it had a lot of security. Jack and The Professor, were led into a room; that was virtually empty. Wanda was going to be brought to them. This is where they would wait for her. "I still can't believe he left her here! How long ago was that?"

"Years. She was sent here, when she was a small child. Magneto couldn't control her powers. He thought that leaving her here; was what was best for her. And since then; he hasn't visited her. Not once." The Professor stated.

"Jerk!" Jack said, in reference to Wanda's dad. "So, what kind of powers does she have, anyway?"

"Well, for starters, she has Probability Manipulation." Charles saw the the puzzling look on Jack's face. He was going to have to elaborate. "She has the ability to force events, into existence. No matter how unlikely, or difficult, it may seem. For example, she could cause tremors. She could make things explode. Affecting the environment around herself; is something that she's very good at. It's why she's the most feared/dangerous patient here. She also has Energy Manipulation, and Telekinesis."

"Like Jean?" Jack theorized.

"No. Not like Jean. The energy that she wraps objects in, to move them; doesn't come from her mind." Charles then went on to explain, in detail; the full extent of Wanda's powers. Apparently, she could even mess with the powers of other Mutants.

"Wow! She sounds pretty powerful." Jack commented. Not long after that; Wanda was brought to the room. She had shoulder length, raven colored hair; and she wore some makeup. Eyeshadow and lipstick adorned her face. She was escorted by two guards; who had her dressed in a straight jacket, and restraints.

"You can remove the restraints. She won't cause any trouble. Will you, Wanda?" The Professor said to the guards. But the last part, was a telepathic whisper; that he sent to Wanda. Wanda became frustrated; but she quickly calmed herself. The guards removed her restraints; giving Wanda, full use of her hands, once again. Then, the guards left the room. Wanda turned her sights towards Jack. She had gotten used to The Professor. But she didn't know the person that was with him. Charles picked up on this. "Ah, yes! Wanda, this is Jack Darby." Charles introduced.

Jack walked up to her; and extended his hand. "Hi! It's nice to meet you!" Instead of taking his hand; Wanda just glared at him. Jack lowered his hand. He realized that she didn't trust him, yet. That was to be expected. He was a new person; and she didn't have a chance to judge his character.

"You said you'd get me out of here. You promised!" Wanda said to The Professor.

"And I meant it. But you know, that what we're doing, is important. There is a process, Wanda. And the sooner you cooperate; the sooner we can work on getting you released." The session between The Professor, and Wanda; was now underway. It took a little while; but soon, the session came to an end. The Professor was confident in the progress they made. He started to roll out of the room; before stopping, midway.

"Uh, Jack; why don't you stay here? Keep Wanda company! I'll return, shortly." The Professor said, before leaving.

Jack sat down, on the floor; while leaning his back, against the wall. "You know, if you take a seat; maybe we could talk, for a bit." He said. Wanda glared at him, before looking away. She didn't look interested. "Please!" Jack asked, in a polite tone. Wanda let out a sigh; before sitting down, next to him. She sat with her knees, tucked in; and her chin, resting on her arms. "Thank you! I know why you're here. I've been told what happened."

"YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!" Wanda yelled, before she changed positions. She was now sitting upright, with her arms crossed.

"Then tell me!" He said.

"The day my father brought me here; I remember the doctors dragging me inside, by force. I pleaded with my father, not to do this. I begged him for help. But he just stood there, and did nothing. All while my brother, stood at his side; and watched it all happen. Pietro didn't even say anything, in my defense. They were my family; and they betrayed me! I hate them both, for what they've done!" Circumstances aside, Jack could relate to some of those emotions.

"I actually know how that feels. For years, I was told that my dad abandoned me, and my mom. And for years, I hated him, for it. I thought that, we weren't good enough for him. That I, wasn't good enough for him." Wanda turned her head; to look at Jack.

"So, you got thrown away too, huh?" She murmured.

"No. All this time, my mom's been telling me; that my dad left us. But, it turns out; she's been lying to me. You see, I discovered that I was a Mutant, only recently. When that happened; my mom finally told me the truth. My mom was a Human; and my dad was a Mutant. But neither of them cared. They loved each other. They got married; and eventually, had me. Mom says, that when I was born; it was the happiest, that my dad's ever been. Dad lived a dangerous life. And mom feared for my safety. Especially if my dad was going to help The Professor, with his crusade.

So, with a heavy heart; she made a decision. He didn't leave us. My mom left him. And she took me with her. It really hurt my dad, to lose us. But ultimately, he understood; and accepted it. He stayed away, to protect us. When my powers came in; the first thing that my mom did, was to call my dad. She thought that he could help. The next day, he showed up, at our house. That was the first time, I ever met him. And he was so excited to see me. But the hurt feelings I now had, for both of my parents; didn't just magically go away."

"Did you forgive them? Your parents, I mean." Wanda asked. She had only just met Jack. But she was somewhat vested in his story.

"I think, we're on the road to recovery, actually. I was mad at my dad; for something he didn't even do. And then I was mad at my mom, for lying about it. I always wanted to be someone; who had a mom, and a dad. All that time, we could have had, as a family. It's just gone. But maybe, there's still hope, for us. Look, Wanda! Our situations, aren't the same; and I'm not going to pretend they are. Both our dads left; for two completely different reasons. Mine, wanted to protect me. But yours, well, who knows? The point is; you're not going to be in this place, forever.

When you leave, you're going to have to decide who you are; and what kind of life, you want to lead. Your father, and brother; won't have any say, in that regard. You can either focus on revenge. Or, you can live your life. The Professor says that he'll help you. Because that's what he does. He helps Mutants. He told me that he'd like to bring you to The Institute. When you get there, you'll have lots of friends. It'll be great. You'll see." Jack was being so nice to her. Soon, The Professor came back; and it was time to leave. Jack rose to his feet; before turning to Wanda.

"Would it be ok, if I came back, sometime? Maybe then, we could talk, some more."

Wanda waited for a second; before she answered. "Sure." She said. This made Jack smile. Then he, and The Professor, left. Wanda would never admit it; but she felt happy, too. Talking with Jack; made her feel better.

It was late at night; and some of the New Mutants, were up to mischief. They snuck into the garage. Arcee, who was still in the garage; took notice of this. Jamie walked up to the blue and pink motorcycle, and crouched down; to be eye level, with her. "Don't worry, Arcee! I told the others, not to touch you. We're going to take the X-Van, out for a spin. Please don't tell Jack!" Jamie begged her. One of the others, saw what Jamie was doing. It looked like he was actually having a conversation with a motorcycle. It was weird.

Arcee watched, as Jamie joined the other Mutants. The van peeled out of the garage. Bobby, was the one who was driving. Sam was in the passenger seat; with Jubilee, and Jamie, sitting in the back. Bobby used his powers to create a ramp; and made the X-Van jump it. After that, they started messing with all the different controls. Bobby pulled a lever; thinking that nothing happened. But in actuality, it made a missile launcher; pop out of the roof. Another push of a button, made the missiles shoot off; and detonate in a lake.

They pushed more buttons. This caused the X-Van to shoot fire, out of its muffler; and ignite a telephone pole. The pole fell to the ground, in flames. They were causing so much trouble; and yet, they didn't know it. In the morning; the new recruits were told to meet in the X-Jet hanger. Kurt was already in the hanger. Part of his probation; involved washing the jet. So, that's what he was doing. Scrubbing the jet, from top, to bottom. Logan and the others, including Jack; arrived in the hanger. Logan began telling them about the X-Jet.

Bobby got close enough to touch the jet; only for Kurt to stop him. "No finger marks! I just spent a month, detailing this baby!" Kurt said.

"Oh, uh, sorry!" Bobby stammered off, before Kurt got back to scrubbing. Bobby thought that this demonstration meant that they would get to fly the actual X-Jet. Logan, however, had something smaller, in mind. He took them to the garage; and told them that they would be driving the X-Van. The garage door opened; and everyone saw that the van was all beat up, and muddy.

"What happened to the van?" Asked Logan, before the van collapsed; and one of its hubcaps fell off.

"I bet I know!" Cyclops said, while turning his sights to Lance. Jack wasn't there to witness it; but he was told that something similar happened, to Scott's car. It looked as though Scott, was painting Lance, as the obvious target. Later that same night; the New Mutants decided that they were going to take the X-Jet, for a joyride. They told Jamie that he couldn't come; because he made too big of a crowd. Before they went to the hangar; they made a stop at Lance's room.

They woke him up; and asked if he wanted to come with them. Seeing as how he was going to get the blame, anyway. Lance refused, and told them to leave him alone. While they were leaving; they mentioned that they were going to be taking something bigger, and faster, this time. A few moments after they were gone; Lance finally realized what they were planning. He got dressed, and headed to Kitty's room. He knocked on her door; until she opened it. He then grabbed her; and told her to come with him. As the were running through the halls, Jack saw them.

He decided to follow them. All three of them made it to the hanger; just as the jet was leaving. They were watching the jet move; from an overhead balcony. "Oh man! Those stupid kids!" Lance said.

"Kids?" Kitty repeated the last part of Lance's statement.

"What kids?" Jack inquired.

"Start phasing!" Lance ordered, as he went past the railing; and grabbed a hold of Kitty's hand. Jack knew where this was going; so he grabbed onto Kitty's other hand. The three of them jumped; and phased to the inside of the jet. The X-Jet shot out of the hanger, at breakneck speed. They were flying through the city. Jubilee had the great idea, to open a hatch, in the roof; and shoot fireworks out of it. All the fancy flying, that they were doing; had managed to shake up Jack, Lance, and Kitty.

"Oh, they are so in trouble!" Kitty remarked.

"You can say that again!" Jack commented. Jack and Lance, grabbed Kitty's hands; and then phased through, to the cockpit. Kitty startled the kids; causing Jubilee to drop one of her fireworks, right on the throttle. Now, the X-Jet was speeding up; with no way to stop it. Sam got to work, on trying to fix the throttle. The radio had also been fried; so they couldn't contact The Institute, either. They eventually came upon two other jets; that were flying in the sky. The jet pilots contacted the X-Jet; and told them that they were flying in a restricted area.

They then ordered them to identify themselves. Lance took charge. He said that they had to present themselves, as friendlies. He flipped the switch; hoping that it was a speaker. He was trying to communicate with them. Unfortunately, flipping the switch; made the X-Jet fire a missile at the two jets. The jets managed to evade. But they took that, as a sign of aggression. The jets fired two heat-seeking missiles at them. But Jubilee was able to divert them, with one of her fireworks. Sam was eventually able to fix the throttle.

"Bobby, try it now!" Sam instructed. Bobby pulled the lever; and the X-Jet's boosters, stopped firing.

"The propulsion's cut!" Bobby announced. Lance was happy that they were no longer speeding out of control. But Jubilee, had a concern.

"I'm new at this, but; isn't that, a bad thing?" She asked Bobby.

"Well, it depends how you feel about emergency landings!" Bobby was somewhat joking; before the jet started to fall. Everyone started to panic; as they were now plummeting. That was the last straw, for Jack. It was at this point, that he chose to step in.

"For crying out loud! I'm driving!" Jack said, as he pulled Bobby out of the pilot's seat, and sat down. He told everyone else to sit down, and fasten their seat belts. After that was done, he pushed the lever; and the boosters were reignited. Jack was much better at flying, than Booby was. He knew what every control did; before he activated them. His aerial maneuvers, were also top notch. So far, he was managing to out fly their pursuers. There were still some things about the X-Jet; that he didn't know. But the others were still impressed; with how he was handling things.

"Wow! You're a lot better at flying. So, what's your secret?" Jubilee asked.

"I just practiced, until I got better." Jack answered, simply. The jets chased the X-Jet into a canyon. They shot more missiles at them. Lance created an avalanche; to get the jets to back off. No matter how good of a flyer Jack was; he still couldn't shake those missiles. Then, Kitty had an idea. She told Jack to fly towards the mountain; that they were approaching. Everyone else, thought that she was crazy. But Jack has seen what Kitty can do. He knew what could happen, if she was wrong. But he also felt, that he could trust her.

He flew to the mountain; with everyone else, freaking out. Kitty put her hand on the jet; and activated her power. The X-Jet went right through the mountain; with the missiles exploding against the landmass. The X-Jet then made it safely through to the other side of the mountain. It was then that the jets that were following them; gave up their pursuit. The kids, and the X-Jet; then made their way back to The Institute.

The morning after; the hanger was visited by The Professor, Scott, and Logan. They were all surprised to see the beat up state; that the X-Jet, was now in. Lance, Jack, and Kitty; were also in the hanger. Scott got right in Lance's face. "Alvers, you took another joyride. Didn't you?" Scott accused.

"Actually-" Kitty tried to speak in Lance's defense. But he stopped her.

"Yeah, I did it. So?" Lance shot back.

"I knew it!" Scott declared. As Jack was watching this whole exchange; he couldn't help but feel an ounce of respect for Lance. He didn't think that he would take the blame for this.

"No, he didn't." Bobby said, as he, Sam, and Jubilee; made their way into the hanger. "We did. Lance was only trying to stop us. We took the X-Van too."

"Who's we?" Inquired Logan, as he turned towards the kids.

"And Scott's car." Sam said; confessing to more of their crimes.

"And your motorcycle." Jubilee said to Logan.

"My motorcycle?" Logan repeated, with a scowl.

"Just kidding!" She said; earning a chuckle, from the other three.

"You guys are lucky that you didn't take my motorcycle! She's kinda temperamental." Jack added. Nobody but Jack, understood that. It was an inside joke. The Professor pointed out that the one good thing about all of this; was that the military, made no official mention about the incident. They must have thought that it was some big hoax. Then, Kurt came into the room; carrying with him, a can of wax.

"Now, all I've got to do is wax the X-Jet. And my probation is history!" Kurt said to himself. When he saw the jet, his face fell; and he dropped the wax. "Oh man! This is going to take a lot of Wax." He murmured.

"It's alright, Kurt! Consider your probation, over." The Professor proclaimed. Kurt ran out of the room, with excitement. Charles then turned to the ones who were really to blame. "Yours, however, is just beginning. And you can start, by cleaning up the X-Jet." Bobby and the others, hung their heads, in shame; before they got to work. Realizing that he was wrong, Scott apologized to Lance. But Lance, wasn't having any of it. He told them that he was leaving The Institute. Kitty asked him to stay. But he said that living with the Brotherhood was much easier, by comparison.

The Professor told Lance, that if he ever changed his mind; there would always be a place for him, at The Institute. Before he could walk out the door; Kitty ran up to him, and gave him a goodbye kiss, on the cheek. He touched the spot that she kissed, and smiled; before he walked out the door. "It looks like you were wrong about him." Jack said to Scott.

Scott turned to face Jack. "In what way?" He asked.

"You said that he was only in it, for himself. Nobody forced him to lie about it. And yet, instead of throwing the others under the bus; he took the blame for the X-Jet. The smart thing to do; would have been to tell the truth. Especially since he knew the consequences. It could have helped him save his own skin. But, he confessed to a crime; that he didn't commit. All to protect the others. Some would call that, noble. I think there's hope for him, yet."

"I would be inclined to agree with you, Jack." The Professor chimed in. Scott knew that Jack was right. He never really asked what Lance wanted. Maybe he didn't give him a good enough chance. After all, Rogue was part of the Brotherhood, before she joined them. Strangely enough, despite everything that's happened, today; Jack found his thoughts drifting back to Wanda. He kept thinking about what her father did to her. It made him think about the relationship between him, and his dad. For so long, he had judged him for something that he didn't even do.

In his mind, that was something far worse than what happened to Wanda. Because, at least, she knew the truth. There was never a question about what her father did. But when it came to the reason why Jack's parents split up, all those years ago. All he had, was a vague story; that his mom told him. He wanted to hear the whole story. He wanted the truth. So, he walked up to Logan; intent on getting answers. "Uh, Logan! I was just wondering. What happened between you and mom? Why did you let us go?"

Logan wasn't expecting this. This kind of question, seemed to come out of left field. Charles knew that this was a sensitive subject; that should be discussed between father and son. So, he suggested that they find somewhere more private, to talk. Jack and Logan were now in the kitchen. Everyone had already had breakfast. So the two of them; wouldn't be disturbed. Logan sat down, by the window; and he instructed Jack to join him. "Your mother must have said something to you. So, what exactly did she tell you?" He asked his son.

"All she did, was give me a brief rundown of what happened. Some enemy of yours came after us; to get to you. You won. But when The Professor offered you a position at The Institute; she thought it was too dangerous. Then she took me, and left. That's it. But there has to be more to it, than that. Please, tell me what happened!"

Logan let out a sigh; before he gave Jack, only one name. "Victor Creed. That's the name of the guy who came after you, and your mother. If you really want to know what happened; then I'll tell you."

Flashback

Logan went out riding, one day. Leaving June, and their baby, at home. June was sitting in the living room, in a recliner chair; with Jack, in her arms. Jack was getting fussy. "Oh, it's ok! Daddy will be back, soon. You'll see." She spoke softly. She rocked him, back and forth; in an attempt to calm him. Just then, the front door, of their house; was kicked off of its hinges. June was panicking; and Jack started to cry. In the doorway, stood a man. He had long hair, claw-like fingernails, and fangs.

The man wore a long, sleeveless dress coat. A pair of boots. Leather pants, and a tight shirt. "Where is he?" The man said. June began to run; with Jack, still in her arms. The man roared like a tiger; before he chased them through the house. He eventually cornered her. June fell to the ground. She was clutching Jack, closer to her.

"STAY AWAY FROM US!" She shouted. She was virtually powerless, against this man. There wasn't much she could do, in this situation. But no matter what; she was going to protect her child.

"Where's Logan? I know he was here. I can smell him, all around this place." The man closed his eyes; and sniffed the air. He then opened his eyes; and leaned in, towards June. "Actually, I can smell him on you too." He turned to Jack. "And him." The man wondered why that was. He looked around the room; and saw photos of Logan, June, and Jack. In the photos, Logan seemed, happy. The gears, in the man's head, started to click. It was then, that he understood. "Ah, I see. Well, isn't this just perfect!" The man snickered; before he grabbed June.

Logan was arriving home. He had big news, to tell June. He parked his bike, in the driveway; and took off his helmet. When he saw the front door, kicked in; he pulled out his claws, and rushed inside."JUNE! JUNE, WHERE ARE YOU?" He yelled. He hoped that his wife, and son, were okay. He searched the house; but they were nowhere to be found. Logan sniffed the air; and caught a familiar scent. One that made him snarl. "Sabretooth!" He said, with disdain. He had been Logan's enemy, for a long time. Logan found a note, that Sabretooth left behind.

The note said to meet him at a certain location, and time; if he ever wanted to see his family, again. Logan crumpled up the note, in anger. He suited up, in his X-Man uniform; and drove off. He arrived at the location, that Sabretooth designated. It was a building, that was still under construction. Luckily, there wasn't anybody else around. Logan got in the elevator; and ascended to the floor, where he would meet Sabretooth. In the building, Sabretooth was watching June, like a hawk. He had her stand on a girder; that was sticking out, from the building.

June was holding Jack, in her arms; while she stood on the girder. She was very frightened. One wrong step; and both her, and her son, would fall to their deaths. "Nothing personal. You just chose the wrong man to love. And definitely, the wrong one to have a kid with." The elevator finally made it to the right floor; and Wolverine stepped out.

"That's one heck of a woman you got there, runt! I can tell she's scared. But even so; she kept saying that you were going to come for them. And that when you got here; you were going to make me wish that I had thought twice, before trying something so stupid.

You know, I never pictured you as the family, type. White picket fence. The love of a good woman. Family barbecues. It just doesn't seem like you." Sabretooth pointed out.

"Let em go, Creed! They've got nothing to do with this." Wolverine said.

"You want em? Come and get em!" Sabretooth mocked.

Wolverine pulled out his claws; and charged at Sabretooth. He tackled him, to the ground. "Coming after my family? Bad move!" Wolverine was about to stab him. But Sabretooth managed to shove him away. As the fight between them continued; June carefully made her way off of the girder, and back to the building. She made a run for the elevator. Unfortunately, Sabretooth took notice of this. He ripped another girder, out of place.

"Leaving, so soon?" He said, before he tossed the girder at June. The girder went right past her; and hit the wall, in front of her. This caused her to fall down, and drop Jack. Jack went sliding towards the edge of the building. Sabretooth pinned Wolverine against the wall, with another girder. He struggled, until he finally managed to cut through it, with his claws.

He tried slashing at his enemy. Only for Sabretooth to grab his arms; effectively, immobilizing him. When June saw that Jack was near the edge of the building, and about to fall; she rushed to save him. He was on a flimsy support, that was about to give way.

She tried to get to her son. But he was beyond her reach. "LOGAN!" She shouted. Logan looked towards the sound of her voice; and saw that Jack was going to fall. His face fell, at the sight of that. He had to get free. But Sabretooth had his arms pinned. Thinking fast, Wolverine kicked Sabretooth, in the groin. Sabretooth reeled back, in pain; before Wolverine shoved him away. He then ran to Jack. The support that held Jack up; finally gave out. He was now falling. Logan jumped over the ledge; and went after him.

He caught up to Jack; and grabbed him with one arm. Logan used the other arm, to grab onto a ledge; and stop them from falling. He howled, in pain. It felt as if, the sudden stop, dislocated his shoulder. He climbed back inside the building. June hurried to the floor, that they were on. When she got there, Logan handed Jack, to her; before he popped his shoulder, back into place. He grunted, in pain. Logan smiled at Jack. He was glad that his son was safe. "Daddy's got to go kick some butt!" He said, before leaning down; and kissing Jack, on the forehead.

Jack giggled. Logan turned to June. "You two, get out of here! I'll handle-" Before he could finish that sentence; Sabretooth tackled him. They rolled around; until Wolverine was on top. Sabretooth struggled. But Wolverine stabbed him, in his arm. Sabretooth screamed out, in pain. Wolverine's claws, were now covered, in the blood of his enemy. He didn't stop there though. Wolverine snarled, in anger. This was the maddest, he's ever been. He delivered slash, after slash, to Sabretooth's body. The only time he stopped; was when he turned, to look at his family.

It was when he saw the look in his wife's eyes; that he finally realized what he was doing. He looked back at Sabretooth. Logan knew that he had a healing factor, similar to his. He would recover, in time. But that wasn't the point. He didn't care about Sabretooth. He only cared about what his family thought of him. He didn't want them to see him, as an animal. "If you ever, come near my family, again. Next time, you won't be walking away!" Wolverine threatened Sabretooth. He then punched Sabretooth, so hard; that it actually managed to knock him out. Then, he took his family home.

A day, or so, later; Logan and June, talked about moving. They would go someplace; Sabretooth wouldn't find them. Someplace they could be safe. That's where Logan's news, came in. He started to tell her about Charles Xavier's offer. "Charles is starting up his own school, for Mutants. He's asked me to be one of his instructors. He wants to help Mutants; come to terms with what they are. Using their powers, to help people. They'll be a whole new breed of heroes. I would be teaching the kids, how to fight; and how to survive.

I would have to live at The Institute. I really want to take the job. And I want you and Jack, to come with me."

"You can't be serious!" June saw that Logan's expression, did not change. "Logan, we almost died; be because one of your enemies, tracked you down!"

"I know. But that's why I think that moving to The Institute; would be the best thing, for us. There, it wouldn't be just us. We would be surrounded by people, who are different. People that could help me protect you, and Jack."

"We could start over. Move to a place, where nobody knows us. What you're talking about; carries with it, its own risks. You're suggesting, taking Jack to a school, full of Mutants. When people find out about such a place; they're going to come after everyone involved. We'd be putting our son, in danger."

"June, that would happen, either way. If Jack grows up to be a Mutant; then people are going to hate, and fear him. But, if he's Human; then they're going to resent him, for having a Mutant father. Any chance of our son, having a normal life, is gone. Things are gonna have to change. But at least this way, I can protect you; and we can all stay together."

"So, you're really taking the job, no matter what?" She asked her husband.

"I'd like to, yes. I know you're not exactly, crazy about the idea. But this is the world that Jack's going to have to live in, now. And if I can make things better, for him; then, I will. I'm doing the best, I can. I love you both, so much! I'd do anything for you, and Jack. Anything."

June looked to the form of the sleeping Jack; who was nestled in her arms. She closed her eyes; and took a breath. She was Jack's mother. It was her responsibility, to keep him safe. A part of her hated herself; for what she felt she had to do next. She opened her eyes; and began to speak. "I know you love us. We love you too! You're Jack's father. Of course you care about him. And of course, you want to protect him. But, I'm his mother. I'm not saying, that makes me a better parent. But, it's different for me.

You don't know what it's like, to have a child; growing inside of your body. To bring a new life, into the world. To have them rely on you; in the way that they do. I understand that you're trying not to make a bad situation, worse. And, this isn't something; that I wanted to do. I hope, that someday; you'll be able to forgive me. But, as Jack's mother; it is up to me, to protect him from any dangers. Even if that means, protecting him from you."

"What are you saying?" Logan asked. He wasn't sure he liked, where this was going.

"I'm saying, that for the good of our son; I'm leaving, and I'm taking Jack with me. I need to get him as far away from you, as possible!"

"What?" Logan said, with shock. June started to walk away from him. But Logan went after her. He placed his hand, on her shoulder; stopping her, in her tracks. He then stood in front of her. "Wait, June! Stop, please! You can't do this! We're family. We're supposed to stay together. You and Jack; are the greatest things, that have ever happened to me. You give my life meaning. In a way, that nothing else could. I don't want to lose you!"

"This isn't easy for me, either. I never cared, that you were a Mutant. I loved you, for the man that you were. I will always love that man." She stated, as she brushed her hand, against Logan's face. "But, Logan, you said you'd do anything for us. Now, let me ask you this! Do you have the strength, to let us go? Especially if that would mean keeping us safe? Would you be able to live with yourself, if me, or Jack; got hurt, because of you? What would you sacrifice; to protect the people you love?"

Logan let out a sigh of defeat. He knew that she was right. He wouldn't be able to take it; if something had happened to them, because of him. "Am I ever going to see either of you, again?" He inquired.

"Someday, I hope!" She answered.

"What are you going to tell him, about me? When he gets old enough to start asking questions about his father. What are you going to say, about me?"

"I'll think of something. I'll make something up; if I have to. It's important for you to know; that I don't want him, reaching out to you. I can't have him, trying to contact you. I'll say that you left. Maybe one day; he'll be old enough, to know the truth. On that day, I'll tell him that he has a father; who loves him, very much."

Logan embraced June, and Jack, in a hug. When the hug ended; June went inside their house. Logan considered himself, a tough guy. But after finding out that he was going to lose his family; a part of him, felt like crying. June packed her bags, that night. The next morning, she was gone.

End of flashback

Jack was trying to process, everything that he was told. "For years, mom told me that you left. But, she lied. I was so mad at you. I kept thinking about everything that I would say to you; if I ever saw you. But, it turns out; you weren't to blame, for any of it. It was all because of that Victor Creed, guy. And then mom made the unilateral decision, to leave. She should have told me the truth. Or, at least, a version of it." Jack had to take the time to acknowledge; that for the longest time, he didn't know about Mutants. He probably wouldn't have even believed that they existed.

"It's not your mother's fault. Victor Creed may have been a part of it. But, I share some of the blame. I'm doing good things, here at The Institute. But, back then; I let The Professor's offer, influence me. All I had to do; was think about what was most important to me. I put what I wanted, ahead of our family. I see that, now."

"Aren't you mad? Your wife, took your son, and left. You missed the chance to watch your child grow up. That's time, that we'll never get back. She said bad things about you. She said that you abandoned us. How can you not be so furious at her?" Jack asked.

"For a while, I wanted to be. But then, I realized something." Logan placed his hand, on his son's shoulder. "She was just protecting, what was most precious to her. Our son. I could never be mad at her, for that. Every bad thing she said about me. I'm willing to bet, that hurt her; just as much as her leaving, hurt me. And yeah, we can't get those years back. But, we can move forward. We can make new memories. There's a long way between now, and the rest of your life. And, if you let me; I'd like to be there for it!"

Jack then hugged his dad. Logan returned the hug. For years, Jack thought that he had a dad, who didn't care about him. Now, here; he finds that the opposite is true. His dad loves him, more than anything. It made him Wonder. How could he have ever thought any less? How could he have believed otherwise? It brought him to the brink of tears. After all this time; he finally had the one thing, that he wanted most. The same thing, that most people had. A dad, who loved him.

AN: Sorry that this chapter is so long! But there was a lot of stuff; that I wanted to get done. I had fun, writing some of this. The parts with Wanda, for example. I introduced her, probably half a season too early. However, I felt bad for her character, in the series. I just wanted Jack to be nice to her. Now, she has a friend; who also had father trouble. He could be her support system.

Jack always struck me, as a righteous person. I made him give Lance, the benefit of the doubt; as well as help Wanda. All because, I honestly believe; that he has the power to see the inner potential of people. Jack's a friendly guy. And I've seen him put faith in those around him. As for Jack being a better flyer than Bobby. I thought that part would be funny/cool. It's not hard to believe, that if Jack really studied; he'd be good at something.

There are probably a lot of you who don't like/agree with this chapter. My interpretation of Logan; just to name one thing. We're all used to Wolverine, being gruff, and tough. My version, is tough. But he's also a family man. I wanted him to be able to express his softer side. Simply put, he's allowed to love; and say that he loves someone. I don't know what the greatest example of a superhero dad, would be. If you know, then please, tell me! My brother, thinks it's Ant-Man (Scott Lang) .

The thing that upsets me, the most. Is the spelling of Sabretooth's name. Any person, who is fluent in English; would pronounce it, "Sabertooth." But, I checked. And that's how Marvel spells it. They switched the positions of the e, and the r. They pronounce it, "Sabretooth." So, even though it irritates me. As a loyal Marvel fan; I'm also going to pronounce it as Sabretooth, anytime I have to write it.

Also, there will be hints of Jack and Rogue's romance, in later chapters.

Lastly, please remember! If you didn't like something about this chapter; then that's all you have to say. Don't go out of your way, to be a jerk, in the reviews! Be honest, but fair!

STAY AWESOME!
