Shrimp
I slowly stepped forward, holding out my leg to match the tune with one of my new favorite songs. "URAHH!"
I jumped slightly, falling out of tune before I looked towards the beach in annoyance. 'Who's the moron yelling at 9 in the morning?' I slowly peered over the railing to see a green haired kid pushing around a fridge, along with a humongous blonde man sitting on top of it. 'I-Is that the training I'm supposed to do?!'
My hands let go of the railing and I took a couple of steps down the stairs, entering the once disgusting beach area, which was now covered in pearly white sands well, partially. "Oi! Did you clean this up?" I yelled out, looking at the duo.
'Obviously they did, idiot!'
"Hm? Hello young man, it wasn't us who cleaned it up, it was this young boy here!" The blonde pushed the shrimpy green haired boy in front of himself. I slowly scanned the kid up and down before looking up at the blonde, who I had just realized was All Might.
"You're All Might!" I pointed out, lifting up my phone to take a picture.
"Y-You just realized?" The hero said in disbelief. I snapped a couple of photos before chucking my phone in my pocket.
"So what's your quirk?" I asked the boy, if he was hawling around garbage like this, he had to have a pretty good one.
"U-Uh I actually don't have–"
"Hahaha! His quirk is super strength!" All Might interrupted, slapping the boy's shoulder.
I looked around at the pile, seeing dozens of different appliances, but nothing so heavy it would require super strength. "Uhuh, so are you training?"
"Mm! For the UA entrance exams!" The shrimp replied with a smile, puffing out his chest.
"UA? Really?!" I responded. The boy nodded with the hero behind him laughing.
"I'm also trying to go there, but I'm not so sure about how my quirk will help me pass." I had done some research, and my strength couldn't get up to the levels to destroy metal plates or bricks at least not yet, something they did the previous year.
"Well, what is your quirk?" The green-haired boy asked.
"Rhythm, I get stronger through music. Each time I land a strike, or do an action in sync with a tune, I gain a tempo, which increases my strength massively. But if I miss one, then I lose the boost."
The green haired boy looked back at the hero, who nodded. "Well, you could train with us. I might be able to give you some ideas on how to improve your quirk."
"Wait, really? Look, I don't want to impose."
"Haha! Don't think of it like that, treat young Midoriya here as a rival! The two of you can grow to surpass each other as heroes!"
"A-A rival?"
"Exactly! Now what is your name, young man?"
"Hyo Kan."
"Well Hyo, this is Izuku Midoriya. We meet here everyday from 6:00 am to 9:00 am, to clean trash, and then we do a few other exercises. On Sundays, we have a training break to prevent burn out."
"O-Okay, I guess I'll meet you here tomorrow?"
"Yep!" All Might responded, holding a blinding smile on his face. I began to walk away before Izuku called out.
"Hyo! If I get any good ideas, I'll share them tomorrow!"
I gave him a thumbs up and exited the beach, continuing on my walk. 'When the hell am I going to get another chance like this. A chance to train with All Might!' I smiled and plugged my earbud in, turning on my tunes to complete my trek.
The gym doors slowly split open as I scanned my id and headed towards the machines. This time in the morning, especially on a Tuesday, it was almost empty except for the employees and a couple of other kids around my age. I sat on a machine and switched my playlist onto shuffle, lifting up a couple of plates onto the bar.
'20kg on each side, that's decent isn't it?' I laid back on the bench and lifted up the pole slowly taking it down to my chest and pushing it back up. 'I need to be better than decent though. At least 40 on each side is what I'm aiming for!' I completed my first rep and laid the bar back on its rest.
'I wonder if that Izuku guy will remember to write down ideas… I don't think I need them, but it would be nice for some input.' I laid back down on the bench and began to lift. 'What's Jiro doing right now… I wonder if she's thinking about me. Na, she wouldn't be.'
I finished my last rep of my set and stood up, wiping down the machine with a towel before moving to the treadmill. 'I need stamina, and I should learn the beats to the new songs that come out.'
*Now playing, Odd Future by UVERworld*
I stretched my legs and turned on the machine, remembering a goal of 5km (3.1 mi). My steps fell into beat and a smirk creeped onto my face, if being a hero was as simple as listening to music and fighting, I think it would be a perfect fit.
I lowered the strength in my legs to counter the slowly accumulating power from my quirk as I moved. 'Hm, hm, oh yeah!' I clicked my fingers in time with the clapping from the music once it repeated another time, right before my alarm sounded out that I had reached 5km.
I jumped slightly and took my earbuds out, turning off the machine and drinking from my water bottle. 'Damn, I've been feeling good since the break started. I had no idea that exercise was this nice!'
Having finished my workout, I left the gym and returned to my house, where my little sister was sitting on the couch. "What're you doing at home?" I asked, taking a seat on the couch next to her.
"I have a doctor's appointment, so I'm not going."
"Doctor's appointments only take like 30 minutes, why're you dodging a 6 hour school day?"
"I just didn't want to go."
"Hm, well, I'm heading up to my room. Is Mum dropping you off?"
"Yep."
I left the living room and headed up to my bedroom, turning on my monitor to do some research. 'Top ten songs of all time.' I typed into the search bar. 'If they're up there, they must be pretty good.'
Sometimes, my genius almost frightened me. Overall though, the songs were pretty shit and I closed the tab after viewing the first 6 and swung around to the table next to my bed, picking up my ideas sheet.
'Dancing classes. Those could still work, considering all the footwork and the reaction time I'll need.
Martial arts would be nice as well, giving me some actual techniques to rely on.' I sighed, that was as far as my ideas had taken me, so I probably would have to rely on Midoriya for some pointers. He seemed like a bit of a nerd, so some good ideas must be brewing in that noggin.
I stood up from my chair and headed downstairs where my sister was still watching TV. Mum skated through the door with a couple of shopping bags, which I took off her and began to unpack.
"Hyo honey, have you done your exercise today?"
"Yes." I groaned, ever since I talked about going to UA, she was on my ass about training.
"C'mon Kiyu, your doctor's appointment is in 30 minutes, we need to get going."
"Okay!" Kiyu chirped, hopping off the couch and strutting to Mum's side while I finished unpacking the shopping.
"Hyo! Clean up the kitchen before I get back, or no internet for the weekend!" Mum announced before shutting the door. I looked out the kitchen window, watching her hop off the railing of the apartment and slide through the air to our car. She did it often, using her quirk in public I mean. It got her in trouble with the cops a lot, but she argued her own beliefs of quirk freedom, which in turn earned her a bit of a reputation as the crazy quirk woman in our complex.
I sighed and began to clean, wiping over the counter with a wet cloth while chucking all the stray dishes in the dishwasher. With some music in the background, the task began to go by slightly faster as I scrubbed to the beat, gaining speed with each swipe.
'Oh yeah, this is getting good.'
Yeah this won't be getting updates as often as I'm sure it should. Gotta focus on my main after all. Though, wait for the next chapters definitely won't be this long!
On my matreon you can have access to these chapters early, along with early chapters, drabbles, and stuff for my other series!
Also, write a review if you want me to have longer chapters, I usually ignore pms due to flames!
