Hiruzen knew from the moment that Naruto had left the clearing that he was on borrowed time, his aging body was already protesting. And the sad part was that the fighting hadn't even happened yet. Obito glared at him with his lone sharingan eye still visible as Kabuto and his son Asuma, climbed back to their feet.

Where had I gone so wrong with you?

The question entered his mind as he looked at his bearded son wrapped in the same robes as Obito, the Akatsuki robes with those red clouds. It made his chest hurt to see that or was that the minor chakra burns that using chakra at his age caused? It was hard to say, but either way he knew what he must do.

"Any final words old man?" asked Obito

Hiruzen simply shook his head, chakra building in his naval as he glanced at the three brats before him. Three former Konoha Shinobi who had all, in theory, deflected under his watch to some degree. Even if you wanted to excuse him for Kabuto due to being caught in the Genjutsu by Obito, he should have never been caught.

Asuma rushed forward, trench knife glowing with the signs of wind chakra flowing through them. Hiruzen felt his ears twitch before the chakra that had been building inside of his stomach folded and condensed itself before it burned hotter than anything should be allowed to.

Opening his mouth, white flames shot out in the shape of a dragon at Asume, forcing his son to dodge, but it was nearly too late as his son had been only a dozen feet away from when as the speedy flames raced towards him.

Asuma barely managed to shield himself as the white flames received a boost from the wind chakra coating his knifes. Obito grabbed Asuma, saving him as only his right arm was burned.

This gave Hiruzen the time to coat his hand in wind chakra as he whirled around, grabbing onto Kabuto's hand that had been about to touch his back right over his heart. The wind chakra in his hand pulsed as it shred Kabuto's arm, blood spraying about as Kabuto screamed.

Hiruzen silenced him with a kick to the neck before dodging a hand that faded into existence right where he had been as Obito reentered the fight. Obito wasn't emitting any sign of chakra, meaning that whatever space-time jutsu that he was using, he wasn't all the way back in his world.

Allowing the wind chakra to leave his body, Hiruzen channeled chakra into his feet as he raced forward, each step allowing him to mold more and more earth based chakra in his legs, taking an extra solid hard step, Hiruzen's leg became covered in stone as he launched himself through Obito's intangible form.

"You missed" taunted Obito as Hiruzen passed right through him, his chakra fluttering ever so slightly that Hiruzen realized he had returned to this world once,

But Hiruzen didn't actually miss as Asuma found out when a stone covered foot crashed into his stomach, doubling him over. A hard elbow to the back of the head sent him crashing to the ground and Hiruzen dodged a kunai that was thrown at his back as he went to stomp his son's head off.

His ears twitched once more as he folded chakra in his arms, the hair on them melting, as he whirled around to see Obito's gauntlet covered hands about to spear his chest.

Hiruzen folded the chakra in his body as the wind blew and in an instant, he replaced himself with a leaf, just as he had been taught in the academy decades earlier. But Hiruzen did more than just replace himself with a leaf, no his chakra control was top notch and he replaced himself with a leaf then the leaf with Kabuto.

Obito's gauntlet punched through Kabuto's left shoulder and the silver haired medic screamed in pain.

Hiruzen winced as pain spasmed through his body, his chakra vibrating so angrily through his chakra paths, begging him and his elderly body to stop. But that was not the case, he could not stop while these three brats were still alive. It was his duty as the Hokage to put down any and all traitors to the village.

He had already dealt with Danzo, not he just needed to put the children down as well. Kabuto grunted as Obito removed his gauntlet covered hand from his body and they all turned to look at Hiruzen once more.

"You're still incredibly skilled at such an advanced age" noted Kabuto as his body slowly healed, but Hiruzen could see the strain on his face as his chakra pools slowly dwindled by the second as the healing continued. He was the weakest person there; he would be taken care of first.

Obito chuckled at Kabuto's words, "He's old in a profession that kills thousands of young men every week or month, you would do well not to underestimate this man"

Asuma nodded in agreement, "My father is not to be taken lightly, there is a reason that he remained Hokage for decades"

Hiruzen molded more flames in his belly and smiled lightly, "You youngsters and your compliments, it will get you no mercy from me"

The three of them rushed him, dodging and weaving through the spray of flame bullets he unleash from his mouth. As they got within 10 feet, Hiruzen turned the spray into a tsunami of flames that washed over the clearing as he grew more concerned about the outcome of the fight, using his chakra control to send the flames pillaring up into the sky, a dual purpose decision.

Finally, his lungs burned from the lack of air, his stomach boiling with pain, his chakra paths spasming in protest of his heavy chakra use in the fight. He ended breathing flames and it showed that Obito had turned intangible, this time using the ability to protect Asuma and Kabuto as well.

The lack of any chakra in the area but himself told Hiruzen that Obito was not in this plane at the moment. He used that moment to glance upwards, seeing the gathering of dark heavy clouds in the sky, the bright sunny afternoon sky.

As Obito and the two other brats returned to this plane, Hiruzen could feel the free falling amount of chakra that Obito had. The technique, whatever the hell it was that he was using, took too much chakra when applied to other people. On top of that, Hiruzen had been breathing flames for over 2 minutes, holding that jutsu for so long must have been straining as well.

Obito was panting as he moved his hands from Asuma and Kabuto, his eye locked onto Hiruzen who met his eye without issue. Both of them were shaking from the effort of using so much chakra, but Hiruzen was breathing easier of the two.

Let's see what your limits are

Hiruzen didn't allow any of them to gather themselves, launching a single shuriken that quickly turned into hundreds at them. Asuma tried to deflect them with a blast of wind, but there was simply too many and this time only Obito was turned intangible as both Kabuto and Asuma got a nasty cut before substituting with some broken branches.

Kabuto escaped the raining of spinning ninja stars just to be greeted with Hiruzen's flame covered hand slamming into his face. His face blistered instantly before a knee from the stone covered legs left him wheezing. Asuma tried to jump in, but Hiruzen grabbed Kabuto by the ponytail and used him to block the slash of wind chakra.

Kabuto spat up blood as the massive gash across his chest oozed blood slowly, his chakra running low from trying to heal so much damage at once. Hiruzen decided to help him not worry about chakra anymore as he grabbed his head with two hands and twisted, breaking the boys neck with a display of raw grown man strength.

Dropping the silver haired traitor, Hiruzen's eyes glanced from Obito to Asuma and back to Obito, "Don't miss him to much boys, you're going to be joying him rather soon"

Obito chuckled and Hiruzen could feel his chakra levels start to rise back up, his healing behind enhanced by something. Asuma was not the threat here, he never was. No, the only one who was a real threat in this clearing was Obito. Hiruzen was dangerous, but he was already closer to empty than he would ever admit.

Asuma rushed him and Hiruzen channeled lightning chakra into his left hand and wind chakra into his right hand, using the right hand to bat away the wind chakra coated trench knifes before backhanding Asuma with his left hand. Asuma spasmed before a spinning kick to the mouth, sent a pair of teeth and a spray of blood from his mouth as he was launched backwards.

Obito managed to almost catch him off guard, his claws slicing into the skin of his back as it shred through his armor. Hiruzen had reacted just fast enough to avoid being impaled and Obito pressed him.

Hiruzen could do nothing but weave through the wild slashes of Obito, his chakra being used to keep up with the speedy Uchiha. He was so focused on the masked man that Asuma's extended wind blade sliced through his thigh fat, causing him to scream. He tried to substitute but he was in too much pain that he couldn't focus and control his chakra enough to use it.

Obito kick sent him skidding and Hiruzen barely managed to throw his arms up in an X block as Obito gauntlet clanked off his metal forearm guards. But it was for nothing as the ground under him exploded, sending him flying through the air as Asuma's ash release got him.

Hiruzen crashed into a tree, his body covered in various blisters, he could feel lines of blood rolling down his skin under his armor. His right thigh muscle was sliced and his lungs burned as he had inhaled too much smoke during the explosion.

Asuma had really caught him off guard while he was dealing with Obito. Hiruzen had always stressed to him when he was a genin that catching your opponent off guard while they fought someone stronger was a key shinobi concept. Who knew the little shit had been listening?

Hiruzen allowed his chakra to expand outward from his body, allowing it to reach out into the sky as he slowly climbed back to his feet, his right leg buckling under his weight as he planted his feet on the ground. But he was still alive and that meant that he was more than capable of fighting.

"It might be time for you to retire" quipped Obito as he flexed his gauntlet covered right hand, "In fact, let's retire you from life"

He rushed forwarded and Hiruzen yanked down on his chakra that he had allowed to travel into the sky, causing a massive bolt of lightning to strike Obito right before he got to him. Dust flew everywhere and Hiruzen was sent crashing into a tree as he and Obito both were hit by the bolt of lightning.

It was much harder to push himself off the ground this time and Hiruzen was panting heavily when he stood up. Obito was laying on the ground, his mask cracked and chipped to reveal the pale white skin underneath the mask, his eyes both closed.

Hiruzen went to attempt to finish him off, but upon taking a single step forward, he dropped to his knees clutching his chest. His heart was on fire, his lungs couldn't draw in anymore air, his body was growing number by the second. He slumped to the ground in the fetal position, his body shivering as the world suddenly got so much colder than it had felt mere seconds ago.

Asuma approached his body, standing over him with his burly form. His right arm was still burnt from earlier and he raised his trench knife in his good undamaged left hand , the gleam of wind chakra covering the knife as he slashed down.

Even if you strike me down son, I will always love you no matter what. You are my biggest regret, but this will save me the pain of having to take your life myself

Hiruzen could do nothing as the blade descended down on him, his long life and all of his regrets flashing before his eyes as his son made the move to kill him.

But apparently this was not the day for that as Naruto appeared in front of his body, his right hand grasping Asuma's left wrist as Naruto's left hand planted a rasengan into Asuma's gasping mouth and Hiruzen watched as his son's face was grinded into nothing but paste, blood and teeth being sent everywhere before the chakra finally detonated and Asuma's head exploded in a mass of brain matter and bone.

Asuma's headless body was sent crashing to the ground like a puppet with the strings cut off and Hiruzen felt a soothing touch as Tsunade knelt over him, her hand covered in medical chakra as she treated him.

It was so good to see her, the daughter that he wished he could have had, instead of a pair of now dead sons. She looked so strong and beautiful as she worked on him, this is how she was meant to be.

Was he always this tired? His eyes felt heavier and it was becoming easier to breathe now. What was going on? Naruto and Kakashi looked down at him. He could hear them speaking but his mind couldn't focus on the actual words being said. Was it important? He was Hokage and if it was important, he should be listening. Maybe after his nap? Where was Obito again? Shouldn't someone be chasing after him or something?

Hiruzen's mind drifted off after that as his eyes closed
