Innocent
Leonardo knew people would look at him and his brothers with fear because they were different. Splinter told them to expect that. What he and his brothers never wanted was for someone to look at them with fear because they'd hurt them. The Foot Clan - that's acceptable. But not an innocent.
(The first meeting with April could have gone better. He'll admit that.)
Taylor's still afraid now; he can see it in her eyes.
Dad promised she was safe and wouldn't be harmed, but she still doesn't believe him. Leo would be lying if he said the thought didn't hurt a bit. He doesn't know what to say to take away that fear - and then he realises there's probably not a lot he can say.
Because he's not the one who should be saying it.
What Taylor went through must have been terrifying, and she hasn't healed from it yet - physically or emotionally.
"When your ribs are better," he says slowly, "we'd like to invite you - and April - to come and see our new home. We'd like some opinions on it."
He crouches down a little bit, so he can look into her eyes properly. "If you do, I promise you'll both be safe."
"Would anyone else be safe?" she asks, her voice shaking a little.
"Always."
