Bella tried to shove Edward back as he wrapped his arms around her and began mumbling nonsense about heaven being real. Edward had thought she had died and instead of being smart enough to check for himself, he ran off to commit suicide in an elaborate over dramatic way. She expected no less of the man child and once again felt repulsed at the fact she had ever thought she loved him. That was not what she needed to focus on right now though.Right now she had to get him to go back into the shade before people started noticing his shiny ass. She hated the fact she had a weak spot for Alice as she probably would have ignored the whole situation. Instead here she was in Italy risking her life for an idiot.

"Edward I am alive." She pushed him again. "Now move back into the shade before you get us both killed."

"Bella?" Edward's eyes went wide and he pulled her back into the shadows hugging Bella tightly to his chest. His elation turned to confusion as when he tried to kiss her she turned her face away from him. "What's wrong?"

"What's wrong?" Bella asked incredulously. "Are you seriously asking me what's wrong? What's wrong is that you are that big of a moron that you don't realize that you were going to expose yourself in front of an entire crowd of humans to get killed would cause problems. You want your family to suffer because you were to stupid to do what Alice did and check for yourself to see if I was alive. Seriously I don't know what I ever saw in you."

Before Edward could defend himself a male voice was heard. "Well said human. I can see why Edward likes you so much. Now why don't the two of you follow me to the throne room. The kings are very interested in seeing how this situation would play out. I'm sure Aro will be overjoyed to learn your human is alive."

"I will gladly come with you Felix." Edward pushed Bella behind him. "Bella why don't you go enjoy the festival while I meet with the kings. I'll find you later."

"The human comes with us." Felix replied.

"That is fine as long as I can join you as well?" Alice walked up to the group and held out her hand for Bella which she gladly took. Edward growled at the action causing Alice to pull Bella close to her side and motion for Felix to lead the way. She knew her brother was dumb enough to start a fight so decided it would be better to have Bella close to her so she didn't get hurt. Her lack of visions concerning Bella lately made it so she didn't know how this would play out but she hoped Edward wouldn't cause a scene and they would be allowed to leave without much of a punishment.

Felix opened a large steel door and motioned the three to go before him where they were met in the hallway by another male vampire." I'm impressed Felix, you were sent to get one but you come back with two and" The vampire gave Bella a once over." A half."

"Well Dimitri the opportunity presented itself and I would have been a fool to pass up the chance for the kings to saw hello to the Cullens." Felix said. Dimitri simply smiled and silently the group walked through many damp stone hallways. Every now and then Edward would try and initiate physical contact with Bella but she would always step behind Alice or when she didn't notice what he was about to do Alice would move Bella out of the way sending glares at Edward the entire time. It got to the point that Bella even moved back to stand with an amused Felix to get away from Edward. Felix all to happy to keep him away. Bella found it strange that she had more trust in Felix to keep her safe than her so called mate. She knew he wasn't but by the way he was acting Edward hadn't gotten the memo.

"The kings are ready for you." A human woman said as they had approached a pair of wooden doors that were adorned in jewels and carvings of a random crest Bella figured to belong to the Volturi.

Felix and Dimitri each open a door and ushered the three into a large elaborate throne room. Bella had never seen anything like it even in pictures in history books. There was so much gold she couldn't see one thing in the room that didn't contain it in some way. She was brought out of her musing when a man in the middle throne with shoulder length black hair spoke. "Ah Edward it looks like your mate still lives."

A growl loud enough for human ears brought Bella's attention to a small girl who looked no more than sixteen who was standing by the wall near the thrones. She had blond hair pulled into a severe bun that made her facial features look harsh.Bella could care less about that though. She was captivated by the crimson red eyes that felt like they were looking right into her soul. She could feel her heart start to race and before she could even think about what she was doing she had begun to walk towards the vampire.

"No!" Edward screamed as he grabbed Bella by the arm and pulled her so hard that she felt her wrist break. So overcome with pain she didn't register much of what was going on." She is mine. You will not take my mate."

As Bella pulled her arm away from Edward he began thrashing on the ground screaming and begging for the pain to stop. As Bella was suddenly being cradled in the blonds arms she looked around the throne room and lock eyes with the man sitting to the left of the first to speaks throne. The red eyes widen and she barely heard the words he whispered before he was at her side checking her injuries. "Mio figlio e a casa."

"Where are you hurt?" The woman asked.

Not sure what was going on Bella was confused why she was feeling like she needed to comfort not only the girl holding her but the blond headed vampire who was looking over her body. She held out her arm so they could see her already swelling wrist. "I think he broke my wrist."

"Felix take Alec with you and get a doctor immediately. I don't care what you have to do to get him here but do it. Tell him that we think he will be treating a broken wrist and bring anything that he needs along with him." Felix left with a short blond haired boy that reminded Bella of the small girl holding her and she wondered if they were related somehow. "Jane take her to my private quarters. I will have Athenadora meet you there. She will want to know that her child is hurt."

"Of course master." Jane looked to Bella. "I'm going to carry you so that we can get you settled faster. Once there I will explain everything."

Bella simply nodded and relaxed as Jane picked her up bridal style and began running carefully through the halls. She wasn't sure exactly what was going on but for some reason she felt safe with Jane and knew that she could trust her to keep her safe.
