Ok people, let's do this...
Welcome to my first story where the only thing that I can guarantee is that this is going to be far from perfect lol…
Honestly, MHA has quickly risen to be one of my favourite animes over the past few years, so, I've decided to put my own spin on it by combining it with one of my favourites, (and one of the most underappreciated in my opinion) TV Shows from my childhood, Generator Rex.
There will be a lot of crossover along with words and phrases that you may recognise if you watched Generator Rex, however, I plan to give a completely brand-new and fresh twist on elements from both shows.
Also, U.A is going to be a university here, so the characters will be 18+ when entering that stage of the story as I plan for there to be a fair amount of development prior to the actual MHA/U.A stuff. It alsi helps when introducing some of the themes that I have planned for later in the story, including the pairings.
Lastly, to start off with, I'm going to try to commit to weekly updates, however, this may change as the story progresses.
Without wasting any more time…It's time for a Revolution! Hope you enjoy it!
Disclaimer: I don't own MHA or Generator Rex…obviously… I wouldn't be writing this; I'd be counting my millions!
Disclaimer for the disclaimer: That's the only time I'm planning on writing a disclaimer… I don't have to include one in every chapter, right?... Meh I'll forget anyways.
Prologue
In a remote lab, far underground in the country of Japan, a bloodcurdling scream echoes throughout. As a sickly yellow glow radiates from the room where the scream originates from, these screams suddenly become…inhumane…devolving into the ferocious roars of a creature that is struggling for release with the sole purpose of destruction.
Standing behind the thick layer of observation glass is a tall well-built man, his hair long and black flowing past to the shoulders with the tips being as white as the lab coat that he currently dons. His face is twisted into a scowl and his dark brown eyes narrowed at the outcome.
Another failure.
As he watches as the abomination thrashes against the restraints, the sound of high heels clicking on the cold metal floor approaches him from behind.
"I assume we are still far from success Kleito?", a feminine voice, dripping with sarcasm asks.
Holding the urge to snap back due to the frustration, the man, now recognised as Kleito, turns to face the woman.
"A simple setback, Akumu," he stated through gritted teeth, "minor calibrations to the programming of the nanites should yield far more positive results in the next subject."
This was of course a lie. The project dubbed 'The Nanite Program' was in fact regressing due to one factor. The Quirk Factor. As it currently stood, nanites and the quirk gene were simply incompatible, and, when a human possessing a quirk gene was exposed to nanites, the result was akin to the feral, multi-limbed, multi-eyed mutation that is before them. These Exponentially Variegated Organisms, abbreviated to the term 'EVOs', were unstable, unhinged, and, as evidenced by the layers of skin dripping onto the floor and evaporating into mist, had no practical use to The Organisation. As it were, with over 80% of the current population possessing a quirk, the pool for fit and able subjects that may produce successful results was shrinking by the day.
Akumu simply smirked at the reply, an evil glint present in the eye that was uncovered by her dark purple fringe. Taking a moment to examine the subject in front of her before walking over to the station where the control centre was located.
"Is that so? Well then, I have full faith that you will continue to work hard Kleito", her hand hovering over the keyboard.
"I have full faith that you will aid me in achieving my Providence", and, as these words left her mouth, she pushed the button, a blinding light emanating from behind the glass radiating for several seconds before dying down.
The mutated subject was no longer present, and all traces were erased by the flash of heat and light.
"Unless of course, you wish to be next to be Overloaded."
Kleito, who had been wordlessly staring at the process of destruction of his latest test subject once again turned to face the woman, only this time he was not greeted by the sarcastic smirk.
Instead, he was faced with a look of pure hatred and disgust, a look that promised to carry out the previously mentioned threat. What seemed like hours passed and Kleito stared blankly back into those vindictive, pitch- black eyes, before articulating his response.
"As you wish."
With that, Akuma, swiftly turned on her heel and strode out of the lab to another section of The Compound, the doors to the lab slamming shut behind her.
Turning back to his notes, Kleito's eyes hovered over one specific word.
Alpha.
The proclaimed beginning of the Nanite Program. The start line for Akuma's 'Providence'. A nanite that bestowed its host the ability to freely generate nanites that could be programmed in a manner so that the host would follow any given order.
There were still gaps in his research of said Alpha naniteas even if he were to find a way to fine-tune nanites to be compatible with the human body, it was highly unlikely that the vessel would be able to command them, resulting in essentially a ticking time-bomb before the host of the Alpha exploded into another failure.
However, that was a problem for the Kleito of the future, the Kleito of the now needed to find a way to solve the current problem. No matter the calculations, however, the outcome remained the same. No, what he needed was a suitable vessel, an individual who could withstand the process and would not devolve into a mindless abomination. An able-bodied quirkless individual. With a sigh, Kleito stood up and exited the lab. He was making no progress and a change in scenery may aid in clearing his mind.
As he walked down the long dimly lit corridors of The Compound another figure approached from the opposite direction, and, just as they were about to pass, they came to a stop, staring at each other.
The man who stood directly in front of Kleito possessed a head of short, cropped, grey hair, his piercing green eyes contrasting with his tired features. This man was none other than Richard Shield, brother of David Shield, the well-renowned ex-sidekick of the current Number One Hero, All Might. Richard was the other leading figure of the Nanite Program with himself and Kleito pioneering the research.
"Ah Richard, perfect timing I seem to have run into an impasse wi-"
"Can it Kleito." Richard's response cut him off in the form of a snarl. Kleito raised a hand to his temple and sighed.
"Must we have this dialogue every time we encounter my old friend? If we can work together to our maximum capacity, then I am certain that we will achieve a breakthrough. Why is it so difficult for you to accept that our research, our dream can now finally be realised?"
"Our dream?" Richard breathed out in disbelief, "Our dream became a nightmare the moment you decided to join forces with that devil."
"Careful Richard", Kleito warned.
"Or what? We're too valuable to kill and she knows it" Richard spat, "We're the only ones who can materialise the Nanite Program."
"Correct. We are. However, with our current progress the Program is going to go up in smoke and then there will be no use for either of us."
"Oh please," Richard snorted, "That psychopath would never give up the idea of her 'Providence', the prospect of a weapon that powerful is far too attractive to risk throwing away."
Kleito looked down, closed his eyes and drew a deep breath. His frustrations were mounting at Richard's stubbornness. He took a moment before looking up with a neutral expression and asked Richard a question.
"How is your research toward the Omega nanite coming along?"
Richard stiffened momentarily before begrudgingly responding briskly, an action that did not go unnoticed by Kleito.
"No progress. It can successfully command foreign nanites, however, the risk of it being rendered non-functional if introduced to a large volume of nanites is still far too high. Coupled with the facts that are based on your research with the Alpha, it is unlikely to be compatible with a quirked individual."
"Based on my research? Richard my dear friend, if you just took the next step to human trials then I'm sure that-"
"No." Richard intervened sternly, "No human experiments. I can handle using this organisation to accomplish my goals," his eyes narrowed, "But I will not stoop to the levels that you have and create any more of those EVOs out of innocent people." His tone left no room for argument.
Kleito raised an eyebrow "Your goals?" he questioned, as his friend never made mistakes in his wording.
Richard stared directly into Kleito's eyes not once backing down.
"Yes. My goals." He declared with finality, and, with that statement, he marched down the dimly lit corridor of The Compound. Kleito watched as a disappeared into the shadows before a smirk formed on his face.
"Just what are you planning Richard?" He whispered to himself before carrying on in the opposite direction, returning to his original plan of clearing his mind.
A trip to the city would do him some good.
