Chapter One Hundred and Sixteen

A/N Hello. So here is S9, hi. Here is a summary of where all the characters are after my S8 rewrite, (I've now done S6, 7 and 8) feel free to check the other series if you wish. But here is the background context I think you'll need to read S9. I have a wws universe community if you want to find them all, my profile details all stories too, because I couldn't include my Angel ones in the community.
The year is 2005, but let's go back a bit. 2003 - specifically May 2003, the battle of the Hellmouth was long and hard, slayers fighting alongside vampires, the gang in different corners of the school defending themselves with what little they had. It was brutal, and so there were deaths, Robin Wood - who fought bravely until his last breath, and a few of the young slayers who were barely old enough to fight back. Tough times. Spike even disintegrated into an amulet for a while, before Angel Investigations managed to make him corporeal again.
The Scooby Gang were left without a home, so Willow and Tara did some sort of big complicated spell and made the school bus teleport from southern California all the way to Somerset, England. To the Giles family home, where the gang spent most of the next year. Buffy and Faith set up the UK slayer division, Giles eventually moving out to Rome with Andrew to set up the Rome division. Willow and Tara decided they would spend some time at the coven in Devon, running into problems with magic and with Amy Madison who made her reappearance.
Whilst living in Somerset, the gang had to battle various demons, including an insect species called the Wigs, which infested their shed. The main problems arose however, when Buffy swallowed one, falling into a coma from which she had to be revived from. Amy was also poisoned by the Wigs and collapsed in the middle of the road, where she was trying to go however is information I do not have.
Buffy, having moved to a new country and grieving for Spike's 'death' started fooling around with Faith. Who, knowing Buffy didn't love her, needed to make a new start for herself and took a division of slayers to the Cleveland Hellmouth in Ohio. This included Kennedy and Satsu who are happily dating. When the Wigs were defeated; the gang headed back across the Atlantic and back to California because Xander got an offer to start rebuilding Sunnydale. The company wanted him at the head of the project because having grown up in the town he would have known what things to incorporate, plus it boosted their celebrity status. Which by the time it's finished should contain: a new town hall, high school, museum of Buffy Summers, an original Hellmouth site exhibit, twelve cemeteries and a magic shop, along with housing and a new high street. Outside the museum, Xander plans to build statues of himself (Anya insisted) and the rest of the gang, to commemorate them, and their battle against evil. He hopes Buffy will be proud of him when it's finished. New Sunnydale will be almost an exact replica of the old one, one people can visit as they learn more of how Buffy has saved the world. For the Scooby Gang was now famous worldwide, Buffy and her friends gracing the covers of most American newspapers, all the unwanted celebrity attention is not always so well received though.
So, where are everybody now? Well, after getting married (properly this time) Xander and Anya moved to the aptly named 'New Sunnydale' where the building work was being undertaken. The rest of the group moved to San Francisco because Dawn (and her new parrot Jeff) got into the University of California at Berkley. But she is also studying to be a watcher, alongside fellow watcher and English country boy Leo Silvera, at the new California Watcher's Council Department. The Watcher's Council having been restored to its former glory, its principal Helen Jamison-Smythe (widow of Merrick Jamison-Smythe and first watcher of Buffy herself) and vice-principal our very own Rupert Giles. Who is thinking of moving himself back to California now Buffy is residing there. Having moved around several places, including Rome as he tried to settle himself again.
Buffy did in the meantime, visit Angel and learned Spike was living, the two are seeing each other on and off because Buffy herself is back to the slaying, keeping herself busy with the creatures of the night. Especially the bleached blonde, who happened to be stalking her. After his stint at Wolfram and Hart in LA, Spike decided he needed a change and has taken to a very nice crypt (how he missed the old one so, despite his soul) which happens, funnily enough, to be located around five hundred yards from Buffy and Dawn's apartment block.
Willow and Tara moved to San Francisco too, and live two doors down from Buffy and Dawn. Tara is now training to be a teacher, and Willow is doing as much magic to avoid getting a job as possible; writing her grimoire for example which she hopes to publish for the aid of young witches. During her time at the coven and with Tara she has learnt that a proper foundation knowledge of magic, young people are a lot more careful with their use of magic and take greater care over it. Recently too, she has found a support group of witches who share their experiences at weekly meetings.
Oz in the meantime, has been living very happily in Tibet with his girlfriend Bayaarma. She is expecting a baby any day now and the two couldn't be more excited. So he might be popping up soon.
After averting the latest apocalypse everything - it seems - has settled back into its rightful place. Everyone is happy, everyone is settling but demons are just around the corner and being a celebrity slayer is only the beginning...
