"Uh … Hey everyone!"
Every head perked up upon hearing the unfamiliar voice which had just spoken. All eyes turned towards the doors of the Smash training room - before widening upon seeing the unfamiliar figure who stood there.
"Mamma Mia!" Mario cried. "Who is-a this?"
The newcomer was a young teenager dressed in clothes as dark as his messy black hair. He was gazing around at all of the Smash players through the lenses of his glasses. A small smile was on his face made of his eagerness to join all these legends in such an iconic game.
"Why," Fox exclaimed, "this has to be one of the newest competitors who's joining Smash!"
"Of course it is!" Zelda added. "I heard he was going to be joining us!"
Joker's smile softened. He was pleased to hear that his arrival had been expected.
"He clearly has the makings of a good Smash fighter!" Solid Snake remarked. "After all, he's one of the Phantom Thieves!"
"Oh!" Joker raised an eyebrow upon hearing the name of elite underground squad which he was the leader of. "So you guys know about the Phantom Thieves?"
"We sure do!" Captain Falcon nodded. "We hear about how they protect the city they live in serve by changing people's hearts!"
"It's an honour to have one of the Phantom Thieves join us!" Lucina squealed excitedly.
"And a popular one at that!" Alex Kidd added.
The grin on Joker's face widened. It had always been his dream to take part in Smash. He was proud to finally be part of this popular game - where all of these beloved players were welcoming him warmly.
"Oh yes!" Cloud peered observantly in Joker's direction. "This one will make a great addition to the roster!"
"He's very strong," Sonic said, "and very experienced in battles!"
"Not to mention he has lots of fans!" Mega Man commented. "The world will be so happy to see him join us!"
"Pika Pi!" Pikachu agreed.
Joker placed a hand onto his heart. He was humbled to hear his praises being sung by these characters who'd been around longer than he had. He was so happy to now be one of them, as well as eager to prove himself a worthy addition to Smash.
Mario strode up to Joker to stand right in front of him. It was his duty to welcome the newcomer that was joining all the characters in the room that took part in one universally-loved game.
"Welcome to-a Smash…" Mario announced, "…Morgana!"
"Huh?!"
Joker's smile instantly vanished. His eyes widened behind his glasses, filled with disbelief over the name which Mario had uttered. Realising that none of the Smash players had been talking about him, he peered over his shoulder the one they'd actually been talking about.
"Yay!" Morgana leaped out of Joker's backpack to land on all fours. He walked on his paws happily into the room, his fuzzy face filled with delight as he gazed around at the players he was to join. "Happy to be here! It's about time you guys invited me to join Smash!"
"They want Morgana to join Smash and not me?" Joker murmured to himself. "For real?"
Nobody in the room was paying any attention to the staggered teenager. They were too busy making a fuss of his cat. All were pleased to welcome him to the roster of Smash.
"You're so cute!" Peach cooed as she petted the small feline's furry head. "So adorable!"
Morgana purred, enjoying the attention and affection he was being showered in. It was doing wonders for his already huge ego. He swished his tail happily before looking around at his fellow competitors with his big blue eyes.
"I sure am adorable, but you guys will find in a tough opponent to bear you find yourselves battling against me!" Morgana cackled. "It's almost scary how good I am!"
Joker scoffed. He realised just how unwanted he was here. He marched grumpily away from the training room, letting the doors swing shut as he left his four-legged sidekick with all the Smash players who were giving him so much attention.
"Happy to have you join Smash, cat!" Sheik said cheerily.
Joker had barely taken a few steps away from the changing room, shaking his head in disgust - when they doors suddenly burst open behind him, making the teenager jump as he heard Morgana angrily yell out those immortal words to his fellow Smash players.
"I am NOT a cat!"
