The call of a master

"You have a training room in your starship? Will you train me?"

"No"

"Do you know how to build a lightsaber?"

"yes"

"Will you teach me?"

"no"

Huyang led the excitable young boy up the ramp onto the jedi shuttle,

"Welcome to one of the last operational T-6 shuttles in the galaxy" Huyang stated.

Jacen glanced around the large open space that made up the majority of the ship, eyeing up the training Sabers (sticks) and masks that where mounted in cabinets on the far wall, a confused look on his face.

"is this the training room?" he asked.

"Yes it is, this is where Lady Tano trained Sabine to wield a lightsaber"

"I thought jedi trained with actual lightsabers, why do you have sticks to spar with" Jacen asked thoughtfully

"I prefer my ship to stay in one piece, you see Sabine wasn't the most graceful lightsaber wielder at first, her Mandalorian training sometimes made her fight like a Bantha in a china shop, I had to insist after a couple of her training sessions that we stick to sticks whilst sparring on the ship, can't exactly find many replacement parts these days"

"Makes sense, Sabine can be a bit of a brute, more so than Zeb sometimes" Jacen giggled

Huyang went into explaining the rest of the training room and how it doubled up as a common room with furniture that hid into the floor. Jacen tried to listen but he had this feeling almost like a humming sound pulling at his mind, drawing his eyeline to a door on the opposite side of the room.

"This room can also be made completely sound proof, making the perfect environment for medi-"

"What's in there" Jacen rudely interrupted, pointing at the door

Huyang took a second to see where Jacen was pointing, disappointed to have his in-depth description of his home cut short.

"Ah, that's the storage room and my workshop, come along, I'll show you some of the old lightsaber components I have lying around"

Jacen followed the old droid into the small room, the humming sound growing more prominent in his mind, his eyes scanned the cabinets on the walls, trying to pin point where the sound was coming from. Huyang using all four of his arms, started opening various draws and cupboards, locating the all sorts of components and prebuilt hilts he had constructed over the years. They were inspired by talks he had with excited younglings at the temple who never got the chance to experience the gathering, it was his way of remembering them and what could have been.

"It's not much, you should have seen my the workshop I had at the temple, there were whole aisles of various component, made of all sorts of materials. Personalisation of a lightsaber was extremely important to the jedi, it being one of the few possessions they were allowed to have, symbolising their life and what they stood for" Huyang reminisced

"In all honesty, I would be thrilled to teach you how to make a lightsaber, but we lack one of the core components and I imagine your mother will disassemble me herself if I helped you acquire such a weapon"

Huyang missed teaching younglings how to create their lightsabers, the last 30 years he hasn't had the chance. It shouldn't bother him that much, 30 years only being a blip in his 25000 years of service but he couldn't help feeling like he lost his sense of purpose. Huyang turned around, noticing that the young green haired boy had gone quiet. He looked just in time to see Jacen on his knee, pulling an old box that was under the desk.

"Jacen, under there are Lady Tano's personal belongings, not even I know what's in those boxes, perhaps you should put it back"

"I will, I just… have this feeling" Jacen replied

His small fingers released the stiff clasps, unsealing the box. Huyang leaned over Jacen, his curiosity getting the better of the old droid, knowing he can blame the child if they came across anything private. Jacen cautiously lifted the lid, revealing a mangled piece of metal that slightly resembled some kind of blaster but it seemed to have been sliced and crushed. A glint of blue from the top corner of the box caught his eye, causing him to cast his gaze over to a blue crystal.

"My-my, a kyber crystal, I didn't know Ahsoka had spare one lying around" Huyang informed

The light pulling in Jacen's mind became almost overwhelming, he instinctively reached for the crystal as it called to him

"JACEN, WAIT!"
