Hello! It's Ducky. I've got 3 other stories in fanfiction right now, so if you like ninjago, check them out! Anyway, today I'm trying something different. I mean, I'm doing a new subject. I've done only ninjago since I started fanfiction and today, I think I'll try Wings of Fire. I've been a fan of the books since we got the first one (I can't even remember when that was). It's been my all time favorite book series other than the Hunger Games, which I am a fan of as well (both the books and the movies). I most enjoy the books in Wings of Fire about the five dragonets. They feel the most original to me. Anyway, I'm aiming for this story to be more than just a few chapters, but we'll see.

Okay, okay. You've heard enough of me. Let's dive into chapter 1.

Clay's (POV)

The waves crash down onto my talons, sinking into the sand and damp from the unsettled sea. The water jounced around carelessly.

I look up at the sky, gray, gloomy, and filled with oversized clouds. This must be a sign of an oncoming storm.

I sigh, not looking forward to rain damping my scales and falling down my snout. I turn my attention away from the gray sky and unrested sea and glance to my right. Down the beach about a quarter mile, I see a colorful lump of dragons. I smile. My friends are all still sleeping.

It's still early morning. We were going to explore the beach as soon as everyone was awake. Probably about ten miles of sand stretch out in either direction and into the fog that's now rolling in and threatening to make it extremely hard to see within a matter of hours.

Behind me is a forest. A forest which I'm not okay with going into. It seems dark and mysterious. And possibly filled with creatures of sorts.

After another minute or so, I grow bored and impatient with the others, still snoozing peacefully on the beach. I trot over and shake them awake.

"Guys, guys," I say, but they won't budge. "Guys. Come on, wake up. I think it's gonna rain soon. You don't want to get wet, do you?" By now, I'm shoving them around. Tsunami lets out an angry yet groggy growl. I stop pushing her. "Get up."

She looks at me and yawns. "It's so early."

"No, It's not." I point to the sky. "We're in full light right now."

Tsunami looks at the sky skeptically, then at me. She raises the scales above her right eye.

I sigh. "Well, it would be full light out right now, but the gray sky and clouds are darkening it. Another reason why we should get going. It's gonna rain soon."

"Alright," Tsunami says reluctantly, pushing herself into a standing position. The others woke up on their own, hearing Tsunami and I talking.

The five of us walk down the beach.

"What exactly are we looking for?" Glory asks grumpily. She's still very tired and normally sleeps for longer than three hours. It seems to be a RainWing thing.

"A safer place to stay. After we escaped Scarlet, who knows where we're safe."

After about a mile down the beach, the fog became even thicker, obscuring my vision and probably everyone else's too.

"Guys? Where are you?" I ask, moving blindly through the fog.

"Over here." I hear a squeaky voice through the fog and realize that it must be Sunny.

"Sunny?"

"Over here."

I slowly make my way towards the sound of the voice.

"I think we should head into the forest. It's not as foggy there and we'll be covered up by the trees. No one will be able to find us." The voice comes out of the blue on my left side and I jump. I realize it must be Starflight.

"Who knows what's in that forest?" I say, shuddering. I sure don't want to be the one running into some screeching hybrid that prowls the forest.

"I think that going into the forest outweighs the option of staying here in the fog where we can't even see anything. Plus, there may not even be anything. I'll take that chance if it means getting out of his fog."

I nod in understanding. That was Starflight, using reasoning to get his way. I guess we don't even know what's in the forest, so I guess my fear of what's in there is kind of stupid.

Then, a dark figure looms out of nowhere, and I nearly fall over, startled. Then, I calm down, realizing it's Starflight. He's blurry, but at least I can see him.

"Is everyone okay with heading into the forest?" I ask. I want to make sure everyone is on board because if someone isn't, they'll be protesting and trying to give reasons on why they should do otherwise.

"Yes," I hear someone reply. I can only guess it's Tsunami.

"Yep!" A cheery voice breaks through the fog. That's definitely Sunny. No one but her is that optimistic, even in a dire situation.

"Glory?" Starflight asks. I swivel my head around, hoping to see a colorful figure or hear her voice. But no one responds.

"Glory?" I ask, louder than Starflight did. No response. A small seed of worry grows inside of me. Now everyone is calling her name.

"Glory?"

"Glory, where are you?"

"Come on, Glory, come out."

Then I stop calling her name, panic rising in me.

Then the realization hits, and I feel dizzy.

Shakily, I voice the terrifying reality to the others. "Guys." I say in a subdued, barely audible voice. "I think…Glory's gone."

Alright, guys, that was chapter 1. Tell me what you think in the review section. This is basically an alternative version of what happens after they escape Scarlet. And for your information, Glory does spray Scarlet with venom before escaping like in the books. But I made a whole new version of what happens afterwards in this story. If you're interested, please keep reading. More should be up soon. Future chapters should be longer and it will get pretty interesting, I hope, so stay tuned! I really appreciate the support. You're really making my day by just reading, so thank you! Reviews are encouraged.

See ya in the next one.

Ducky :)
