An intruder? NOW? Betrayus just rolled his red eyes and mentally prepared himself for the person to be brought into him. Intruders were rare, as no one but the occasional troublemaking teens were stupid enough to break in.
Finally, the automatic door opened and in came a soldier with the perpetrator. Betrayus sat at his desk and sighed. "Why are you in here you idiot", he hissed at the trembling blue Pac Worlder. Skeebo gulped, clearly not knowing what to say. "Out with it!"
"Uh… hi?"
Betrayus narrowed his eyes. This kid really wasn't making a good case for himself. "Explain or be punished", Betrayus snapped.
"Icanhelpyoufindyourson", Skeebo spat out.
"..."
"I know where he is."
"Boy, you better not be pulling my leg."
"I'm not! I-I can tell you where the others are!"
"Tell me. Now."
Skeebo went on to explain the exact location of the HQ of the Neo Resistance, and how they had been plotting to overthrow him and how Pac had joined their side.
"So yeah", said Skeebo.
"I see."
"Yeah."
"I suppose I should thank you, but I'm not in a thanking mood. You were still working against me, and ratting out the rest isn't going to get you out of trouble."
Skeebo's heart sank.
"You there", Betrayus said pointing to the soldier, "take him to be dealt with."
"NO", Skeebo shrieked.
"WAIT", came another voice. Blinky burst into the room from the other side of the door, clearly having been eavesdropping. Betrayus groaned. "Listening in, were you?"
"I can think of another way to deal with this", Blinky said, ignoring the question.
"Another way? This boy has committed treason and we both know what the punishment is for that."
"He doesn't have to die!"
"Oh? Concerned about the traitor are you?"
"No", Blinky lied. "I think we can make this work out in our favor. To help you get your son back safely."
Betrayus raised an eyebrow. "Go on."
Blinky went over to the dictator and began to whisper. Skeebo couldn't make out much, except for the word 'bait'. Once Blinky finished Betrayus clapped his hands together with glee. "Oh, how diabolical! I like the way you think! Now, take the boy and put him in the dungeon for now."
"Y-yes sir."
Blinky grabbed Skeebo by the arm and began to drag him to down below. "What are you doing", Skeebo yelped.
"Saving your life you nitwit", Blinky whispered back, "just trust me."
Once Skeebo was locked away, Blinky returned to the office. "Give those traitors this", Betrayus spat handing Blinky an envelope. "Have them read this. If they comply, good. If not too bad for them. Now go! Out!"
Blinky made haste in doing as he was told, but not before gathering the other three and telling them his idea.
"Bad idea", said Inky.
"Are you nuts", Pinky squealed.
Clyde was just silent, with a horrified expression.
"Maybe a little", Blinky replied, "but it's worth a shot. I can't do it alone."
"You really expect us to help you after you lied to us for all those years?!"
"Maybe?"
"Forget it. You're lucky we don't tell on you."
"This isn't about me Inky. It's about Pac. He's just a boy! Please. After all this is over I'll do better. No more lies." Blinky held out his hand.
Inky looked back at Pinky and Clyde, then back at his friend. "If we help you, I call dibs on second in command," Inky said shaking Blinky's hand.
"Deal! Clyde, Pinky? You guys in?"
They hesitated, then put their hands onto the others. This was it. No turning back, for better or for worse.
