Disclaimer: I do not own the characters from Monster Hunter, only how the story goes. The characters and world of Monster Hunter belongs to Capcom. The only thing that I do own are the OC's of the story. I do apologize for any errors in grammar and/or if I was not accurate in reference to something.

A/N: Basically, someone will be greeting the two and Jacob will be doing his best to keep them from fighting. This chapter may be much shorter than when Jacob met Velkhana.

Chapter Forty: Jacob and Two Moms

The sun had hadn't reached its midday position in the sky when Calypso and Jacob returned to the sloping shore of the Ancient Forest. The Kestodon herd was currently basking in the sun just as the Leviathan swam up to them. One of the females raised her head and started bellowing at the Lagiacrus, causing the others to get up and start bellowing along with her. The sound was very irritating to both Jacob and Calypso and the latter started to rear her head back. Having a feeling about what was coming, Jacob slipped off the back of her head and landed in a crouch on her back.

The Lagiacrus then threw her head forward and roared fiercely at the Kestodon herd. It did the trick and caused the herd to turn tail and ran. While Calypso seemed to calm down, someone else was about to get riled up. Up in the Ancient Tree, a certain Rathian moved to the edge of the nest and looked out to the shore. When she saw the Lagiacrus sitting on the shore, Mama Rath got a little agitated when she narrowed her eyes. But when she noticed a familiar looking shape sitting on the Leviathan's back, she grew greatly worried. She opened her wings to take flight.

Down below on the shore, Calypso looked back to the human as Jacob rose onto his feet. But as they were about to part ways for a bit, a familiar roar made the two look up into the skies. Jacob gasped when he saw Mama Rath flying straight towards them from the right. The Rathian moved her talons out in front of her and managed to snag Jacob off the Lagiacrus' back. Calypso roared back with fury to this and Jacob cried out as he was carried higher and away in Mama's clutches.

Mama Rath carried him to the shallow river and set Jacob down on the bank. Jacob turned to her to get her to calm down, but the Rathian was already turning and flying back to the slope. Jacob knew that he needed to put a stop to it as he shook his head, "Great, she's getting herself into another turf war."

He started to run after the Rathian and could still hear Calypso's roars even from here. He emerged from the tree line just as Mama Rath landed on the top of the slope with a booming thud and with a glare she roared at Calypso who responded with another roar of her own. The two snarled at each other and they both looked ready to attack each other. Jacob didn't make it in time as Mama launched herself at Calypso and shouted, "No!"

The Rathian quickly flew at the Lagiacrus and lashed out to rake at the Leviathan's head with her talons. The sea dweller grimaced when she only got a few scratches to the back of her head before she lunged forward and managed to catch the flier's tail in her jaws. Mama Rath screeched at the feeling of Calypso's teeth digging in. Jacob was about to move and intervene when Calypso swung her head and sent the Rathian crashing onto the little island. The Rathian struggled to get back up as the Lagiacrus started to come closer. Mama managed to move her head and quickly shot a fireball at her adversary. Calypso roared when the projectile smacked against her neck. Seeing her foe distracted momentarily, Mama Rath took to the skies and flew back around to attack again.

The Rathian managed to nick the Lagiacrus in the cheek with her talons and Calypso got Mama back by quickly turning her body and raising her tail to whip her in the wing. Mama cried out as she fell against the earth again at the top of the hill. Jacob rushed forward to get Mama to stop, but the Rathian took off again and Jacob narrowly avoided getting hit by a thunder ball from Calypso. The electrical attack smacked against the ground and Jacob cried out as he was flung backwards. He crashed against the ground and grimaced from the pain he felt, no matter how slight it felt to him. Both Mama Rath and Calypso had seen this and the former glared at the latter.

Jacob slowly sat up to see Mama Rath dive bombing towards Calypso. The Lagiacrus ducked when the Rathian somersaulted to try and scratch her with her poisonous tail and lunged to grab her with her jaws again. With a quick flap of her wings, Mama Rath managed to save herself from another of Calypso's bites. The Flying Wyvern shrieked when the Leviathan started to shoot thunder balls at her with rapid fire. Mama Rath returned the fire by firing three fireballs at different spots towards her adversary. Calypso shrieked from the explosions either on her person or the water around her. When Mama fired a stream of flame at her, Calypso turned and ducked down into the water to avoid getting singed by the fire. Mama Rath cut off her attack and looked for aquatic adversary. Calypso's head burst out of the water and she fired another thunder ball at her flying rival. The ball of electricity smacked against her and she fought to stay in the air.

Mama Rath snarled as she turned towards the slope just as the human teen found his footing. The Rathian landed on the slope again just as the Lagiacrus pulled herself onto the little island. From his spot, he could see that they were tired from their fight as they panted. Jacob saw the tips of the dermal spikes starting to glow and got a bad feeling that Calypso was about to use a big attack. He looked to the Rathian and saw that Mama Rath was preparing a powerful fireball herself.

He tried to think of some way to stop them when he suddenly remembered the turf war between Mama Rath and Valiantops months ago. They only stopped when he got right in the middle of it all. Thinking that was the best course of action, the human knew that he needed to hurry. Rushing forward again Jacob came to the edge of the hill and dropped down so he could slide between them. He reached the middle just as they were about to launch their projectile attacks and stood up to where they could see him. He held one of his arms to the two beasts and shouted for them to, "Stop!"

Both the Flying Wyvern and the Leviathan's eyes widened when they saw him in the middle of the battle. He was lucky that they lifted their heads and launched their attacks skyward at the last minute. The fireball and the thunder ball collided with each other and created a massive explosion. The explosion rocked the area and made Jacob lose his footing.

When the ringing in his ears stopped, Jacob raised his head to see that Mama Rath had come down the slope a little. She gave a snarl down at Calypso who only growled back at her flying enemy. Standing to where he stood between the two female monsters, Jacob held up his hands to them and said, "No! Stop! Stop!

"Don't fight each other." He shook his head and looked to them both. He saw them move their eyes to him before looking at the opposing beast. Jacob was grateful that they hadn't attacked again, but he knew that he needed to do something to defuse the situation.

Slowly moving towards Mama Rath, he slightly drew her attention away from Calypso. The Rathian kept her guard up while turning her gaze towards the human teen. Gently placing his hand on her snout, Jacob looked into her eyes and said, "There's no need to fight with her. The trio really needs you. Papa Rath needs you.

"And she's been through quite a lot as well." Jacob added when he looked back to the Leviathan. The Lagiacrus seemed to be calming down just as Mama was. He then told the Rathian, "She's kind of like you were once upon a time.

"Only hers isn't coming home like the trio got to." He sorrowfully said, surprising the Flying Wyvern. Mama Rath lifted her gaze up to Calypso and they both could see that there was pain still in her eyes. The Rathian looked back to the human when Jacob said, "I understand if you were worried about me. But…

"Calypso is a friend. And she needs someone to be there for her. I know that the two of you won't always get along, but please don't fight." He said when he walked up to the Lagiacrus. Calypso seemed to brighten up a little as he came closer and lowered her head down to his level. She pressed the top of her muzzle against him and Jacob chuckled as he lightly stroked the scales on her nose.

They both looked to Mama Rath when the Rathian gave a small groan. Only removing one hand from Calypso's snout, he extended it towards Mama Rath. She carefully came a little closer to avoid hurting Jacob by giving the Leviathan a reason to attack. When she was close enough, the Rathian pressed her snout against Jacob's free palm.

Jacob was very grateful and happy to see that the two were willing to tolerate each other's presence. He knew that they wouldn't always get along, but he was just happy for this one moment. The two beasts then backed up and lifted their gazes to the other. Jacob looked between the two and gave a sigh of relief when they only gave a small growl before turning to go back to where they were needed. While Mama Rath opened her wings and took off for the nest at the top of the Ancient Tree, Jacob's attention drew back to the sea when Calypso gave a small growl. The Leviathan looked to him and gave a small nod. Jacob returned it with a nod and grin of his own. She turned her head back towards the ocean and gave her fierce roar before moving deeper into the water. Jacob moved close to the edge of the shore as he watched her sink deeper the further she went. The teen was glad that he could make a friend in her and vowed to keep his promise if she needed him.

Author's Note: And with that, the Song of the Sea has had its finally note. Almost hard to believe that it took over ten chapters to get through the whole thing. The next story arc, we go over to the desert after such a good long while. And like I had said, it's going to be kind of like a Halloween theme since Halloween is coming up. It don't know if it'll be as long as this or the previous story arc, but it is going to be really important to the story. I look forward to reading your reviews. I'll go ahead and give the names of it and the next few upcoming story arcs. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you all next time.
