Yumiya Rakko
[ACSR: Plot]
...Oh. Well.
That wasn't good. She kept her mouth closed and though. Iruka might refuse to help because of this. Or even worse, she'd turn on them.
Frenda looked to be checking Saten for something, bugs maybe? Then she turned to Joule and noticed her expression.
"What?" She asked quietly.
Joule took a few steps to the side. She knew which direction Iruka was in and the sniper should be in that same sort of direction, back the way they came. She leaned against a wall that gave her cover before speaking.
"Our attacker's name is Rakko, she's the sister of the sniper we had for backup."
Frenda cursed "Has she turned on us?"
Joule closed her eyes and glanced to the side.
"Do you want to leave us for dead then?"
Iruka didn't say anything at first. Joule thought she might be conflicted. Finally though.
"No, I won't leave you. But we're doing this non-lethally. You understand?"
How do you non-lethally defeat a sniper?
"No." Joule repeated for Saten and Frenda "But she'll only help us if we avoid hurting her sister too badly."
"How the hell does she expect us to do that?" Frenda complained.
They were stuck. There was nothing.
"Hey." Saten broke the tension "Could we get her arrested? Joule could call in Shirai and she could apprehend Rakko."
...
Joule did have a working phone.
"Shirai?" Frenda asked "Who's that? Could she get here in time?"
"The level four teleporter." Joule filled in for her "Yes, I'm fairly sure she could get here-"
Frenda moved quickly, pulling them along with her.
"Come on, we can't stay in once place too long. Joule, describe Rakko. Saten, take Joule's phone. Split off from us and call your friend and then double back. We'll try to be back in this hallway in a few minutes."
Joule passed her phone and Saten ran off down a corridor. As she moved, Frenda pulled Joule into a toy store. She pulled a compact mirror out of her pocked and opened it to give her a better angle on the place where they split from Saten without sticking her head out.
As Joule passed on the description from Iruka, Frenda stopped her "I see her."
She'd used the description to find Rakko then.
"She's walking calmly down the corridor. I wouldn't have been able to pick her out of the crowd. She's good."
Joule paused as she waited for Frenda to say something else but Frenda pocketed the mirror and turned to the racks of dolls nearby.
Picking up a few of them, she dumped them into Joule's arms. Joule panicked for a moment before remembering there was no way she had the time to put explosives in these. Frenda did make sure to attach clocks to them though.
As she was setting up, there were some chimes from the store's announcement system.
"May a miss Joule come to the lost and found desk? Your phone has been found."
What was important wasn't the words, no. It was the fact that the speaker wasn't any of the normal voices. It was Uiharu.
They knew what was going on and that meant Shirai was somewhere nearby.
Frenda frowned, confused and Joule nodded to her "She's here."
"Then we'll need to bring her hear specifically... Here, take these dolls, find a nearby fire alarm and set it off. The staff here are able to tell where they're being set off from."
Joule nodded, lifting the pile and leaving the store.
Wait... had these been paid for in any way? No alarm had gone off but...?
No, there were more important things to deal with. Joule walked down the corridor. She avoided paying attention to the people she was passing in case she recognised Rakko and set her off. She was just looking at the walls until... there. A fire alarm.
She bumped into it but that wasn't enough. She got her hand free from the dolls, spilling some of them out onto the ground, and used the hand to flip up the case of the fire alarm and press the button.
Nothing seemed to happen. Had she gotten something wrong?
No. She heard a soft puff of displaced air as Kuroko appeared down the corridor. She locked eyes with her friend and began looking through the crowd.
The clocks on the dolls were counting down though. There was an easier way to reveal the hunter.
"Iruka, where, relative to me, is your sister?"
"11 o'clock, she's looking at you right now. What's with all those dolls?"
"Fake bombs."
Sending off that last message, Joule walked forwards, turning slightly left as the clocks ticked low and she let some of the dolls slip from her arms. She heard quick footsteps as she saw a girl matching the description she was given trying to run.
"Her!"
Shirai was faster though. Joule had forged a quick telepathic link in that moment.
"Hold it! In the name of Judgement!"
She teleported into a tackle and knocked Rakko over. Metal needles then pinned the girl down.
There were some shocked sounds from the crowd as Shirai had attacked but now she was checking for weapons. She found a tube hinder in the girl's sleave and nodded. They'd got her.
Saten and Frenda wandered over too, Satan passing Joule her phone. Seemed like this problem was over. Well, it would be when Anti-skill came over to take her in.
End of chapter.
If you want to know why Rakko didn't go after Saten with the phone, she suspected that Frenda would try and flank her if she did that and didn't want to reveal herself that obviously. Remember, she had no idea that they'd already identified her.
Yeah. I'm happy with that. Now we just need to wrap up this arc and we're into the dark side arc.
...This would be easier with a timeline as the events all feel really jumbled. Granted, I'll be reading the LN to help write that arc properly but I normally use the anime for quick referencing.
Does anyone mind telling me in which novels the dark side arc is in? I really hope it's just one of them.
