Shooting straight up in bed Chloe screamed Beca's name one more time waking the sleeping Chicago beside her. Chloe was breathing heavily trying to catch her breath, a worried looking Chicago trying to soothe her. "Chloe are you okay? Why were you screaming Beca's name?" Chicago said while wrapping his arms around her to try and calm her down, but it wasn't working. Chloe's heart was racing at what she dreamt and possibly what it meant.

Taking a deep breath, she was finally able to slow her racing heart as she thought to herself it was just a dream. Her mind was racing, and she didn't register Chicago's question until he asked again. "She was in trouble, and I couldn't get to her." Chloe lied so easily to him. She didn't want to tell him what she really dreamt about because she was still confused why she dreamt of Beca. Chicago went to get Chloe a glass of water and then he went back to bed. Chloe was nervous about going back to sleep wondering if she was going to dream about the brunette again.

The next morning Chicago drove them to the airport, Chicago needed to go back to Italy, and Chloe was on her way back to New York. The car ride was quiet as Chloe was stuck in her thoughts about the dream she had, Chicago just thought she didn't want their time to end so he didn't disturb her. They got to the airport, Chicago parked the car and turned to face Chloe.

"Hey, we are here, are you ready to get out?" Chicago said gently to Chloe, and she looked at him nodding her head. They both stepped out of the car and grabbed their luggage. They went into the building, and they were currently standing in line to get through security. "I had a really great time getting to know you, Chloe. You are beautiful, smart, and I know you are going to do well in vet school. But even though we will be on opposite sides of the world I would like to try the long-distance relationship with you. I think you are worth it Chloe, so what do you say will you be my girlfriend." Chicago finished looking at the redhead beside him.

But Chloe wasn't looking at him at all, she was so consumed by her thoughts she didn't hear a word Chicago said. Although she did find somebody in front of her holding a trashy magazine with Beca's face on it with another girl. The title read "New Superstar Beca Mitchell off the Market" that title had Chloe's head swimming. Who was Beca dating, was she even dating anybody? Who is that girl Beca is with, and why does she look so beautiful. She was so zoned out on her spiraling thoughts that she never acknowledged that Chicago was talking. It wasn't until he cleared his throat that it grabbed her attention.

"I'm sorry what did you say?" Chloe asked one more time, and Chicago deflated a bit. He didn't realize when he started confessing his feelings that Chloe wasn't paying attention to him. "I was just asking you if you wanted to be my girlfriend. Chloe are you sure you are alright? It seems like after that nightmare you had about Beca you haven't been yourself" Chicago replied.

"Of course, I'm okay Chicago, I told you last night that dream was that I couldn't help Beca, and it just freaked me out a little. It will be better when I get back and know she is okay since she hasn't been answering my messages lately." Chloe replied, and Chicago noticed she didn't respond to his comment about being his girlfriend but talked about Beca instead.

"You have feelings for her don't you." Chicago asked in a sweet voice. He wasn't accusing Chloe of anything just trying to make a statement. Chloe stood there with wide eyes and a bewildered expression on her face. "Chicago, she is my best friend I don't have feelings for her. What on earth would make you suggest that I did." Chloe asked starting to get annoyed with this conversation.

Before Chicago could answer the two heard a "Next in line" from the security person. The two made their way through and once they were done Chicago went to say "Because I asked you to be my girlfriend, but you didn't answer that. Instead, you talked about Beca, and completely ignored answering that question. "When did you ask me to be your girlfriend." Chloe asked dumbly.

Chicago shook his head and sighed. "I asked you twice, once when you were zoned out and didn't listen to a word I said, and the other time when you asked me to repeat myself." He answered evenly. Inside Chicago was angry because he was trying to be with Chloe but suddenly it felt like she didn't want to be with him. It felt like he wasted his time off with a girl who doesn't care about him.

"Oh Chicago, I am so sorry. Of course, I'll be your girlfriend, even though we will be living in different countries." Chloe said trying to make the situation of her ignoring Chicago blow up too much. But luck was not on her side as Chicago chuckled darkly at her. "You know Chloe, I was telling you how wonderful you are, and I should be happy that you said yes to being my girlfriend, but I don't want to be your beard." Chicago stated as he was trying to get his broken heart protected.

Chloe looked at him and tilted her head to the side confused by his behavior. "What do you mean by being my beard?" Chloe asked. "I think you have deep feelings for Beca, just call it a hunch and I won't be the person you hide behind, so you don't have to deal with them. I feel like a fool for not seeing this sooner but that's on me. Sort out your feelings for Beca and if you truly don't have feelings for her then come talk to me. Otherwise, have a great life Chloe and don't wait too long to get the girl." Chicago said leaving a stunned Chloe to watch as he walked away from her toward his gate.

"I….I…..I don't have feelings for Beca. She is just my best friend, so what if we have lived together for years, and shared a bed for three of those years. Yea and I do make her be the big spoon sometimes when we cuddle because I feel safe in her arms. But that doesn't mean I have feelings for her." Chloe was saying to herself, and she walked towards her own gate. She kept denying her feelings for Beca, trying to justify everything the two did together. She was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard "Now boarding for New York."
