Chapter 5

Class Skill – Summon Spirit (E) (0.00%)
A Skill of the Summoner Class. Allows the user to summon forth Spirits to do their bidding. Spirits come in all different shapes and sizes; you never know what kind of Spirit you may end up summoning. Spirits are fiercely loyal to their Summoner. Summon Amount = Class Level. Cooldown: 1 Day

I hummed as I looked at my new Skill for the Summoner Class, rubbing my chin in thought.

It was the day after my little dungeon dive, and I was manning the counter at the moment while my Servants were down with Ann in the dungeon. They were mostly just keeping Skeletons off of her while she attacked. They wouldn't be going into the boss room though; it was a bit too dangerous. Though it was also helping me get Gold, I was now sitting at 2,000 Gold again after the dungeon run. Plus, the gold I was getting from my Servants helping out Ann.

And while they were doing that, I decided to check out my new Summoner Skill. Summoning a Spirit, hm… The description was interesting, and I was too curious to not try it out now.

I held out a hand. "Summon Spirit."

A magic circle formed before a light shone and out of the light appeared what looked almost like a Fairy. They were about the size of a child, with blonde hair and green eyes, wearing a red dress.

I hummed and used Analyse on them.

Name: Flame (Temp)
Race: Flame Spirit
Job: -Null-
Class: Pyromancer Level 1
Value: 300,000

Hm? Why was the Spirit's Value so damned high?

Spirits are different to your servants. Where Servants are a blank slate that can become anything, Spirits come with an inclination towards certain attributes that result in them growing faster. But, in exchange, they'll usually only grow in that aspect and will require an evolution to push further. Unlike Servants who can grow more infinitely but will require a longer amount of time.

Ah, that made sense.

"How may I help you, Master?" Flame asked me with a smile.

"Just testing out the spell for now," I told her. "For now, would it be fine to put you in my Summon storage?"

"Yes," she nodded. "Just call me out when you need me, okay?"

"Okay," I nodded in agreement before I stored her away.

I leaned back in my seat behind the counter, kicking my feet up as I grabbed a random book- I think it was Harry Potter?- though I wasn't really reading it as I focused on the System instead. "Small question, do I require sleep or food?"

You do not require sleep, but you do require food.

Hm, interesting… Usually it was either both or nothing, but in my case, I only needed food and not sleep. A bit different, but that was fine. I liked food after all, needing to live off of it was no big deal to me.

I'd have to wait a bit longer for the cooldown on Summon Servant, then I could call out another Servant and REALLY start building up my army. I'd probably have to purchase some more magic books, but I was looking forward to it!

I was cut out of my thoughts by the sound of a door opening, putting my feet down and standing up with a smile. "Welcome to the Traveller's Rest! Your local Interdimensional Shop for all your Multidimensional needs? How can I help you today…?"

My smile faded just slightly as I saw who was standing there… Though my pants got considerably tighter.

She wore what looked like a black armoured corset that showed off her naval, with some sort of shirt collar around her neck and a golden ornament hanging from it between her breasts. She wore a long but loose looking coat with short sleeves, almost like a kind of cape, with bracers on her forearms. She wore a pair of tight, small shorts that hugged her hips, with black leggings with a spiral pattern running up her legs. Completing her look was a pair of black, heeled boots.

What caught my attention the most though was her face. Beautiful blueish-green hair- or was it the other way around?- with striking blue eyes that stared at me blankly, eyeing me up and down and focusing on where my right arm should have been. Sizing me up.

This woman was Byleth, the protagonist of Fire Emblem Three Houses!

"Do you have any swords?" She asked in a somewhat blank voice. "I need lots of them. My students keep breaking them during training and other field exercises… Spears would be nice too."

"Ah, yes, we have some in storage," I nodded. "Let me go get them for you," I headed into the back and then used my re-quip magic to remove all the spears and swords I had. They were all in good condition thanks to being Dungeon drops.

I soon returned to the room, carrying a bunch of swords and putting them down on the counter, and then left to get some spears, coming back and setting those down too.

"How many would you like?" I asked her.

"Five of each," she told me.

"Would you like to test one out first to make sure I'm not trying to scam you?" I asked her.

She tilted her head, looking considerate as if she hadn't considered that possibility, "Yes."

I gestured for her to go ahead, and she took one of the swords, drawing it from its sheath and eyeing it slowly.

"It's a bit thicker than the swords I'm used to," she swung it through the air. "… But it has better balance, and it is sharper too."

It wasn't that much thicker than the swords in Fire Emblem… She could see that miniscule of a difference? Impressive.

"This will do," she nodded, placing it down before she picked up the spear, doing a few thrusts and swipes. "Mm… This will do too," she nodded and set that down too. "I'll take five of each."

"Wonderful, your total comes to…" Hm… I didn't remember how much these all cost in game so… I'd charge 200 gold for the swords and 300 for the spears. "2,500 Gold."

She nodded in agreement and pulled out three pouches. She handed over two of the pouches, then poured approximately 500 coins out of the other- I could count them fast with my merchant skills- and nodded. "That should be everything."

"And it is," I nodded as I took them and pushed the swords and spears towards her, before pausing. "Would you like some help with those? I'll take the spears; you can take the swords."

"Are you sure?" She asked, her eyes moving down to my lack of right arm.

I chuckled and hefted the spears up with my left arm alone. "I'll manage," I told her. "Do I have your permission to help?"

"Ah… yes, you do," she nodded in agreement as he lifted up the swords and turned to take the lead, giving me a delicious view.

I followed after her as she headed through the door and I followed after her and looked around, getting my first look at the Monastery, looking around.

It was exactly how it appeared in the game, just… You know, real. I luckily also knew my way around the Monastery, I'd had to beat the game four damn times after all…

"So, where are we taking these?" I asked her.

"My room," she told me. "I'll bring them to class and the armoury later, but I'd like to check them over myself before I give them to my students."

"I see, I see," I nodded as we walked together. "How long have you been a teacher?" I asked, wanting to know when I was in the timeline.

"I've been teaching my house- the Black Eagle House- for about a month now," she told me.

"And how is teaching?"

"It's…" She paused, clearly wondering on how to answer that. "… An experience. It's not something I ever considered doing before but… I am finding it quite enjoyable."

"I see…" A smile crawled onto my lips. Byleth was probably my favourite protagonist in the games, so I was happy to see her coming into her own. She was basically emotionless from birth, after all.

"What about you?" She asked. "How did you end up as a Shopkeeper at…. Nineteen?"

"Seventeen," I supplied for her.

"Seventeen," she nodded. "How did you end up an Interdimensional… What even is that?"

I clicked my tongue. Ah yes, time for the typical explanation.

"How to explain this…" I hummed. "Have you ever looked back on your decisions and thought 'I wonder how things would be now if I'd chosen differently?'"

She tilted her head. "… Once or twice, yes," she nodded.

"How would you react if I told you that you did make those decisions, in another place? Another time?"

She paused her walking and turned her head to look at me, looking a bit more interested.

"What I'm referring to is something known as Multiverse Theory," I told her. "The idea that every decision you make, or every possibly decision you could have made, branches off into a new timeline and creates a parallel universe. As a result, there is a version of 'you' who teaches the Blue Lions, or the Golden Deer. With me so far?"

She nodded slowly. "I believe so. In another timeline, I could have chosen one of those two houses, yes…"

"Multiverse Theory is the idea that if it even exists as a concept, a version of that world exists," I told her. "A world without magic? Where technology advanced rapidly instead? It exists. Maybe a world where you were never born? It exists. Maybe where the Church of Seiros never existed? That exists too. It goes on further and further, expanding infinitely."

She nodded slowly, seeming a bit lost, but sort of getting it.

"Now," I cleared my throat. "Interdimensional means that my shop resides in the space between those various worlds. My shop simultaneously exists in all worlds, but also resides in the gap between. You saw how my door was built into the side of a wall? That is only one place it resides; it also can be opened theoretically from anywhere else in the world. I even had one person open the door to my shop in the middle of a desert."

"Then you have been to… Other worlds?" She asked, a bit mystified.

"Three," I told her. "My home world, a world more like this one but with some major differences I won't get into, and another world that was more like my home world but without magic. This would be my fourth."

Needed to keep up the story that I'd been to Persona 5 to get Ann, after all.

She gave a nod, looking curious. "Does your shop have any abilities that comes with its status?"

"As a matter of fact, it does, but we should get these weapons to your room first."

She nodded and began to walk once again, and I couldn't help but use Analyse on her.

Name: Byleth Eisner
Age: 21
Race: Human (God-Blooded)
Job: Tactician Level 30, Merchant Level 20, Teacher Level 5
Class: Swordsman Level 40, Priest Level 15, Chronomancer Level 10
Value: 250,000,000
The daughter of Geralt Eisner and Sitri- a homunculus created by the Archbishop Rhea- with the crest of flames embedded in her heart and giving her life. She has grown up all her life as a mercenary, and now teaches at Garreg Mach monastery as the teacher of the Black Eagle House.
She thinks you are intriguing and would like to learn more about you and the multiverse, as well as other things your shop sells.

That number… She was worth more than Azula, but less than Aang… But this was also near start of canon. Byleth had barely begun to truly tap into her true power and abilities and, eventually, she would obtain all of Sothis' power for herself. At that moment, she would probably shoot up in value. Especially once she got some more levels in Chronomancer…

As a bonus, once Analyse had gone up to Rank C, I was now able to see what people thought of me. That would make discerning people's trust intentions so much easier.

… And make it easier to scam them.

"We're here," she told me as she pushed open the door and headed inside, revealing a well-maintained room… Almost a shame, I was hoping to find something in here-.

I paused as I saw green hair and turned my head to look at Sothis who was floating there in her dark blue dress, her focus on Byleth.

"Inviting a man to your room?" She spoke in amusement. "Should I give you two some privacy?"

"I don't think she invited me here for that reason," I responded without thinking.

Both Sothis and Byleth turned to me, one with wide eyes and a gaping mouth, the other who's only indication of surprise was a slight widening of her eyes.

"You… You can see me?" Sothis asked in shock.

"I can," I nodded, no need to hide it now. "It's not every day I get to meet a God."

"Meet a- I'm a god!?" She exclaimed.

"Why yes," I nodded. "The God of the very church that we're in right now, the Goddess Sothis of the Church of Seiros."

"I… You…" Sothis fell so that she was sitting on the bed, "I need to sit down for a minute."

"… She's a God? Not a ghost?" Byleth couldn't help but ask.

"Did you really still think I was a ghost!?"

.

.

.

"How do you know that I'm a God?" Sothis asked as I was sitting on the chair in Byleth's room, while she and Byleth were sat on the bed. Sothis stared at me suspiciously, while Byleth just had her arms crossed under her chest. "No, more importantly, how can you see and hear me?"

"I live in the gap between dimensions," I told Sothis. "I'd be a poor shopkeeper if I wasn't able to see my customers, you know?"

"… He makes a good point," Byleth nodded.

"No, he doesn't!" Sothis snapped. "This doesn't make any sense! What kind of nonsense is that!? A shop that resides between dimensions!?"

"Big talk coming from a ghost in a young woman's body," I shot back.

"You- It's not like I'm here because I want to be, you know!? I just woke up here!"

I chuckled in amusement. "Well, even then, I'm not exactly obligated to answer your questions, you know? You might be the God of this Church, but you are not my God. But if you really want proof, how about you let me place a marker down so I can show you?"

"A marker?" Byleth's brows furrowed.

"While my shop can appear anywhere, it has a limitation," I told Byleth. "I cannot leave the shop myself except in my primary world connection. I'm only able to leave if I am given permission by a resident of that world. Once I am in that world, I can place a marker that can manifest the door for me to leave at any time. It basically lets me place my shop in a 'fixed' location for others to enter."

"Of course," I turned my gaze to Byleth. "I won't place the marker without your permission. It doesn't necessarily have to be your room, simply a place that can be easily accessed is good enough, a place where people wouldn't question seeing a door… I can even place the marker on say, a bracer or a ring, and then by placing it on the ground the door will appear wherever you are."

Byleth tapped her chin in thought. "Is there a limit to things I can buy from you?" She asked. "Like, what things can you sell?"

"I sell anything I can get my hands on," I told her. "If you're running low on money, I have no issues with bartering goods either. Magic books, weapons, anything really. If you mean at the moment, I have about 45 swords and the same amount of spears… I would say the most valuable thing I can sell you though is my training room."

"How is that valuable?" Sothis asked.

I smirked. "It isn't a normal training room. Firstly, it is a magical training room. You can change the environment within to anything you can imagine, just can't create living creatures for you to attack. Even better, the room cannot be damaged, meaning you could fling around powerful attacks without risking collateral damage."

"That… Is very good," Byleth nodded.

"However, the room shines in its ability to facilitate growth."

"What do you mean?"

I smirked slowly. "The room's magic seeps into your body… And it doubles your growth when training in the room."

This time, Byleth's eyes widened, and Sothis exclaimed. "Are you telling me the room lets you grow twice as fast!? As in, what might take you a month, you can do in about two weeks in the room?"

"Exactly," I nodded. "And the scariest thing? That's a basic version of the room. The most powerful version of the room allows you to grow one-hundred times faster."

"One hundred…" Sothis' jaw dropped. "Then… Something that would take a hundred days…"

"Would take only one."

Byleth wasn't saying anything, but I could practically see the thoughts running through her brain in those wide blue eyes… If she could buy time in that room, she would be able to better train her students. They would be stronger, and thus safer whenever it was time to go on the Church's monthly errands, or when going out on minor skirmishes like bandit attacks.

"While the training room is without question useful," I decided to continue. "I would say perhaps the gem of my shop is, without question, the Dungeon."

"… Like, a sex dungeon?" Sothis asked with a blush.

"No… But why do you know what that is?"

Sothis said nothing as she slowly looked at Byleth, who had a deer in the headlights look on her face.

… Well, well…

"… Why is a Dungeon the gem of your shop?" She finally asked.

Really just gonna skip over that, huh… I respect it.

"This requires a bit of explanation, I'll try to keep it simple," I told Byleth. "Let's assign you a 'Level.' This 'Level' represents your overall strength, your ability. For sake of argument, let's say you are Level 65."

"Is that good?" She asked.

"Honestly I can't answer that, I'd only put myself at 20 at best at the moment," I shook my head. "Anyway, for sake of argument we'll say you are Level 65. While in the training room, your skills and abilities can grow, but your Level will mostly stay the same. In the dungeon, however, it will use the magic between dimensions to create enemies such as skeletons or undead. Depending on the dungeon 'type' you select. When you kill these enemies, their magic will seep into your body and help your level go up faster than if you were just training. As they say, battle is the best teacher."

She tapped her chin in thought. "I imagine these services won't be cheap."

"Oh, obviously not," I agreed. "But I kind of like you, so I'm willing to give you a discount or put it on your tab."

"What kind of discount?"

"Usually, I'd charge 5,000 Gold an hour for the training room," I told her, making her wince slightly. "But, as I said, I like you. So, instead, I'm willing to say… 500 Gold an hour, or the equivalent of that. The Dungeon, on the other hand, is free."

She blinked in confusion. "Why is the dungeon free?" She asked.

I chuckled. "Very simple," I told her. "The dungeon also drops weapons and money. Now, while I could go down there myself, it's more efficient if I let you and your students go down, gather money and weapons, and then trade or sell them to me for time in the room or other things that catch your fancy."

"That's…" Sothis paused. "That's rather clever of you. By giving access to this 'dungeon' for free, even people who have no money will be able to gather some money. Then, they use that money to buy things from your shop, get stronger as a result of that and the dungeon, and then they come back and repeat…"

I smiled. "I thought so," I nodded in agreement and looked at Byleth. "So, what do you say?" I asked her.

She was silent for a moment before she nodded and stood up. "I know a place you can put your marker."

I grinned. "Wonderful."

And just like that, the world of Fire Emblem: Three Houses was opened up to me.

.

.

.

In the end, three markers were placed within the monastery, and one was placed on a ring Byleth bought from a local vendor. The first marker was placed in a nice open area, I'd probably put up some kind of sign to invite people in later. The second was placed in an alleyway, so that I'd be able to slip in and out of the monastery without being seen if I wanted to. The last marker was, much to my surprise, actually placed in Byleth's room.

When I asked her why she was letting me place a marker there, she told me that she wanted to be able to train in private too. If she was going to have her students using the training room, then she would need to train in private in order to keep up.

In other words, I would be seeing a lot of Byleth and Sothis in the future…

After the markers were placed, I returned back to my shop after bidding Byleth farewell. She had to re-plan her classes now, given the new situation.

Hm, should I deal with the Agarthan hiding in the library…? I would have to think on it, but I would probably get involved at some point, if only because I thought Geralt was a cool guy and that I didn't want Byleth to lose her dad… Plus, I did have a small crush on Byleth, and making sure her dad lived would probably get me some brownie points.

… You know, hopefully.

Shortly after I got back, both my summons and Ann came out of the dungeon, with Ann looking very happy with herself. A quick Analyse on her told me that her Pyromancer Level had jumped up to fourteen… That was pretty impressive.

Her value had also gone up, about 220,000 Gold.

… That reminded me, I vaguely remembered the system saying I could buy people. Does that mean I could buy someone like Courtney from Pokemon Omega Ruby?

A screen instantly popped up in front of me.

Name: Courtney
Home Universe: Pokemon Omega Ruby (Dead End Variant)
Age: 18
Race: Human
Job: Scientist Level 60, Tactician Level 70, Merchant Level 20
Class: -Not yet applicable-
Value: 50,000,000

… Huh, so I could buy people. Very expensive though. I would really need to jack up the prices or find ways to make some serious money if I wanted to actually buy people. It would be better to recruit once I got access to their universe than to actually buy them.

I kept manning the counter while Ann got a much-needed shower, looking at my two servants who began to help out around the store and I hit them both with an Analyse.

Name: Assassin (Temp)
Race: Enhanced Servant
Job: -Not yet applicable-
Class: Assassin Level 15
Value: 50,000

Name: Sword (Temp)
Race: Servant
Job: -Not yet applicable-
Class: Swordsman Level 12
Value: 23,000

Servant [Sword (Temp)] is eligible for evolution.

I got that notification a while ago, which meant that ten was almost certainly the first 'Evolution' Level.

Sadly, evolving Sword would have to wait another two days. I'd also make sure to evolve them in the training room to maximize the experience I was getting from it. I wanted to reduce the cooldown on evolving a servant as fast as possible, after all.

Another thing of note, the temporary names that had appeared on my Servants shortly after summoning Sword. It seemed that, now that I had multiple servants, they were assigned temporary names based on their class. Just so I had something to call them until they got their own names.

As they worked in the store, I pulled out the 'Beginner's Book on Blacksmithing' by Hephaistos, and began to read it… Though my eyes were more just skimming the pages, I wasn't properly reading it. Instead, I was thinking.

While I only had two servants, my cooldown was gone, and I was able to summon out a third. I was considering starting to delegate the tasks of teaching other servants to one of my Servants, I would likely create a new one specifically for that task.

Servants I summoned, I had learned through talking to Assassin, that they were summoned able to perform simple tasks like calculation, reading, and were able to understand any language. However, beyond that, they required me to help teach them or give them the tools for them to learn on their own… Or have them learn in the heat of battle, like Sword did.

That meant I was going to be more hands on with the next servant I summoned, in order to get them the 'Teacher' Job. From there, any Servants I summoned would be taught by them. I'd give the Teacher a variety of books on sword techniques, spear techniques, magic, martial arts, anything so that they could get an understanding of it and go on to teach other servants whatever it was that caught their interests.

I didn't know if it was the case for all Servants, but Sword had very quickly grown attached to wielding the sword in the dungeon. Unlike Assassin, who had tried out several weapons before settling on a preference for daggers and stealth… Since I had a bit more leeway, once my 'Teacher' Servant was ready, I would start experimenting a bit more with Servants to see how they might change depending on the environment they were summoned in or fought in.

I nodded to myself and put the Blacksmithing book away as I instead took out a blank notebook and pen and began to write out my ideas and plans. I would make this my 'Servant' Notebook where I documented things, I learned about servants so I wouldn't forget about them.

When I finished writing down in that notebook, I pulled out another one and began to write in that one next. Specifically, what I could get out of Three Houses.

First, Vulnerary, Concoctions, and Elixirs. Healing items were always useful, and I'd gladly accept some of those from Byleth in exchange for money. I'd be able to sell them at HUGE prices in other worlds, especially DxD where the only forms of healing seemed to require either Sacred Gears, or girls getting naked. Antitoxin and Pure Water would also be useful…

A shame, if I had access to both of my arms, I probably would have picked up Alchemy as a job…

Though, nothing said I couldn't raise one of my Servants as an alchemist.

Next on the list, enchanted rings and items like Speed Ring, Evasion Ring, Experience Gem, and Knowledge Gems… And, of course, Hero's Relics. Though, I doubted I'd be able to get my hand on any Hero's Relics so easily. Even then, I'd have to keep and then modify them down the line to make them usable without a crest.

Then there were the various ores. Smithing stones, Black-Sand Steel, Arcane Crystal, Mythril… There were more, but I couldn't remember them off the top of my head. Regardless, it would all be worth carrying with me.

And finally, there were the weapons. Hero's Relics among them but not a priority, there were many useful swords that could be picked up… Levin Sword that used someone's magic abilities to deal damage, Brave Sword which- I assume- increased one's speed while using it drastically. I'd have to experiment a bit in regards to Brave weapons.

Hm… Come to think of it, I vaguely remembered there being replica hero's relics? 'Dark' variants or something, made by the Agarthans…? Might be worth sending Assassin to steal those once she's upped her abilities…

Ah, and of course I couldn't forget magic books. Those might be worth giving to Ann, but I'd check them out if I ever got them just to make sure that she didn't hurt herself trying to cast the spells.

I finished writing down in the notebook and nodded, putting it away for now as I leaned back and relaxed.

"… I should get a hobby," I mumbled to myself.
