"Umm, Isshin, this tea…" Park Ah inquired, taking a small sip of the tea that Isshin had brewed for her and had given a cold drink to her daughters since they didn't like tea. "Did you really brew it? Wow!"
Her eyes widened a second later as the herbal flavors in the tea spread through her mouth perfectly. She complimented Isshin and munched on some light snacks, evidently enjoying his culinary skills.
"Umm, hobae Isshin… Are you really blind?" Yuuhee asked softly while sipping her cold drink.
Throughout the entire time they were in his house, she and her sister had been told by their mother that Isshin, the boy who would be living with them for a month, was blind. However, seeing him move like a normal person left them speechless.
"Yes, 99% of it. I just remember the position of every object. Sounds crazy, right?" Isshin responded with a soft tone and a bright smile, finding their question quite common, as many people asked him if he truly was blind or just acting.
"Girls! This is not how I taught you to behave!!!" Park Ah immediately scolded her daughters upon hearing their question because it was very offensive.
"Aunt, they are children, let them be," Isshin tried to reason with her and calm her down, which succeeded. "If you say so, Isshin."
"Isshin, how old are you?" Yuuhee inquired innocently, but inside she was offended as Isshin called her children.
"That depends," Isshin responded with a grin, teasing the girls. "What do you mean?" Yuhee, her identical twin, asked in confusion this time.
"Physically, I am 3, and mentally 20," he clarified his previous response, which discomposed the two girls and made their mother laugh.
Isshin kept them company until they finished their snacks and until there were no more interesting topics to discuss.
Then, Park Ah received a phone call and had a short conversation. After hanging up, she told Isshin to pack his things as the truck had arrived to transfer his belongings.
So far, Isshin had successfully made the twins open up to him, erasing their shyness and nervous demeanor as if he were a decade-old friend who had lost contact with them but was now reunited.
After giving them a quick tour of his room, Isshin began packing up his belongings and took a moment to rest.
"Umm, Isshin, are you really bringing all these books? They're very heavy…" Yuhee said, struggling to lift two books at once.
"You really do study a lot. When you said you were 20 mentally, now I understand what you meant," Yuhee admitted, staring at his extensive book collection. Both sisters chimed in one by one after seeing Isshin's vast library.
"Is that all?" the old man who had helped pick up Isshin's stuff asked.
"Is there anything else you need, Isshin?" Park Ah also asked for confirmation, just in case Isshin had forgotten something important.
"Hmm, I think I'm forgetting something, but if I'm forgetting it, it probably isn't that important. So, that's it," Isshin replied. He made sure the house's electricity was turned off and locked the door securely.
Giving one last blind stare to his house, Isshin got into Park Ah's car, and they left.
--6 hours later--
"I'm so excited," Yuuhee said, looking at Isshin for his reaction as they were about to arrive at their house.
"I don't feel much, as I can't see… but I think I'm slightly nervous," Isshin admitted, but he didn't explain why he felt that way.
"We're home," Park Ah informed Isshin as she attended to other duties, like moving his stuff and all.
"Let's get inside, Isshin," Yuuhee said, rushing into her house in excitement. She momentarily forgot that Isshin was blind, but unlike her, Yuuhee helped him come inside.
Though he didn't require any assistance by any means because he was not a regular blind human, he continued to act like one to everyone else.
Taking Yuuhee's support and his walking stick, he moved as if he saw nothing, but in reality, he saw everything, except for their colors; he could see the soul structures of inanimate objects and the matter around him.
