"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to U.A.'s annual Sports Festival! I am your host, The Voice Heroine: Present Mic, and with me is my good friend, Aizawa! Say 'hey' to the folks at home!" Yamada pushed the microphone close to her best friend's face, which she stared at with little interest, looking ready to go to bed right then and there.
Aizawa sighed before speaking into the mic and weakly whispering, "Hey."
"That's the spirit! I don't know about you guys, but I am siked to see the students perform! Are you?!" Present Mic asked the audience, getting a resounding cheer from them. She pressed the mute button as she remarked mostly to herself, "Why can't they be this enthusiastic at the exam?"
"Maybe because they're nervous, hormonal teenagers?" Eraserhead threw her two cents in, leaning back in her chair to relax.
"Maybe," Yamada slightly agreed before unmuting herself, "I myself am excited by this years heroine hopefuls! What about you, Aizawa?!" she asked her friend, never once referring to her by her heroine name to not rid her of her mystery and the tactical advantage it gave her in fights.
"You know what? I'll join the betting pool Midnight, Vlad Queen, and the others do every year. I actually have someone I want to bet my money on."
"What's this, dear listeners?! Aizawa is actually joining the betting pool us teachers arrange every year?! What is this world turning to? What next, it'll rain men?!" Present Mic joked, thankfully getting a few audible chuckles. "Okay, I'll bite for all the listeners tuning in: Who is it that you're betting on?"
"The one and only man of U.A.," she revealed, a sadistic smile on his face. "It'd be simply too illogical for the man, Midoriya, not to win, what with his support gear," she explained herself, the audience getting real silent.
That's when all hell broke loose.
"I thought that was a poor joke!"
"A man? With support gear?!"
"Impossible!"
"I don't want that future Breeder anywhere near my baby girl!"
That's what was being shouted out by various women in the audience, that was until Yamada tried to settle everything down, "Ladies, ladies, calm down! For those unaware or living under a rock, lucky you, by the way; a young man was recently accepted into U.A.'s doors with open arms. He's in the Heroine Course, not a Gen Ed or Support Course student, contrary to what you might think. And rather than spoiling the surprise, I'll let Midoriya himself show his true splendor and mechanical genius," she smiled, not that they could see it, as she saw the students of their respective classes come strolling out of the archways.
Midoriya Izuku trailed behind the rest of his classmates, wanting to be the last one seen for theatrical purposes. They all wore the unisexual clothing they were given when they did the Quirk Apprehension Test with Aizawa-sensei, it making them seem as if they were a team of some sort.
"And here comes the talented, I won't lose even in a real life attack at school, the one and only, Class 1-A!" Present Mic introduced excitedly, "And for all those in the stands or watching at home, there's the illustrious and ever mysterious man of U.A.!" she brought attention to him, where he weakly looked to the ground, unsure of himself in front of all these women.
"Master, listen to me," Desiree whispered next to him, wanting to be by his side ever more so ever since they fixed the whole soul eating thing. "Take your hands out of your pockets. Arch your back, puff out your chest," she instructed, pulling his hands out his pockets, directing his body movements. He soon was walking confidently out of the field, and by the end of her instructions, was even smiling and waving to the masses, some of whom swooned at his attention, surprisingly enough. He spied, out of the corner of his eye, his sister class coming out onto the field.
"Not to be forgotten, just as good as their sister class who haven't had their major splash yet, it's Class 1-B!" The Voice Heroine called out, introducing them with similar zest. The Gen Ed, Support Course, and Business Law students made it on field, waving to the audience with a smile on most of their faces. "And also the Gen Ed, Support Course, and Business Law students," she absentmindedly mentioned as if it was a small tidbit of information of no consequence, much to the shock of both Class 1-A and 1-B, who thought that was borderline rude and insulting, practically outright discouraging the classes from doing well if they weren't going to be acknowledged by the announcer herself. "Wait, give me one moment." Everyone heard her click the mute button, and for the lucky ones with a good position in the stands they were able to see the Aizawa woman yell at the announcer. Present Mic looked deeply ashamed as she unmuted herself, apparently being on a call, "Uh huh…yeah…I'm sorry…it's completely my fault…I understand," she placated before addressing the audience, "After some…colorful words from Aizawa and Principal Nozomi, I have decided to rescind myself about how I addressed the last three very important classes of U.A., and to stress that it is in no way better or lesser than the Heroine Courses!
"In one corner, we have the Gen Ed students, who may, if they do well enough, get transferred fulltime to the Heroine Course. In another corner, we have the crafty and inventive Support Course students, who are so smart they can build you any device or support equipment you may need, like yours truly! In the last corner, we have the Slytherin-like and the cunning Business Law students who are striving to make the world a better place through paperwork!" she finished before the audience heard someone hastily cover the microphone and mutter, "I couldn't come up with anything, sorry!" forgetting that she had a mute button for some reason.
Midoriya felt himself getting keyed up, tossing a nanite ball between his hands, nervous over the event. He watched as his teacher for Modern Hero Art History/Sex Ed, Midnight-sensei, walked onto the field and got on a podium.
She spoke into the microphone as she announced, "As the winner of the U.A. Practical Exam, Midoriya Izuku," she looked at him directly, her eyes boring into his form, "please come and give the customary speech."
Izuku walked with faux confidence as he passed his classmates, giving a plastered-on uneasy grin as he took the stand, mentally reviewing what he was going to say. He took a deep breath as he finally began with, "I am a man."
Murmurs resonated throughout the crowds.
"My sex is thought to be breeding stock, or stay-at-home husbands, or any number of things, but ultimately my sex is supposedly meant to be below women. I don't believe in that. I honestly think that's kind of degrading, but to each their own. There's an old saying that goes, 'Don't judge a book by its cover.' I'd like you to keep this in mind when me and my friends do their best to win this thing. Because that's what you do at U.A.; you go beyond…"
"PLUS ULTRA!" the audience and his classmates cheered out, enthused over his speech.
"Excellent job, Midoriya!" Kayama praised while clapping lightly. She shooed him back to his classmates and retook the podium, "With that out of the way, we can now begin the first event!" she announced as a screen lit up behind her, showing the words "Obstacle Race." Almost everyone who weren't physically inclined simultaneously gulped at the words. "Everyone participating will run about 4 kilometers in a race to the finish line!" she explained. "Along the way there will be obstacles, obviously, and similar hazards to slow you down, so you better think on your toes! Everyone get into position," she ordered, pointing to the section of the field for them to wait in, it getting highlighted with red, blue, and white LED lights, courtesy of Power Loader and Cementoss having time to set up beforehand.
Midoriya stood in the back of the pack of students, knowing whatever happened he'll be able to handle it.
"And go!" Midnight announced, the large door that was previously barring them from starting moving out of the way. Most of the ones in the back didn't have time to run as a sheet of semi-thick ice washed over them, all thanks to Todoroki, who was skating ahead of them. Midoriya was so far back, however, that he was unaffected. He briefly considered freeing them all before shelving the idea as he double-tapped his NTC, having the nanites surround his body from his head to his toes, covering him in his Iron Man suit, the Mark LXXXV (80) to be exact, as it was the latest and best model. The crowd gasped in shock over how quickly he transformed as he easily flew over the students, catching up to Todoroki and Kacchan easily.
"For the folks who are listening, the man himself has put a suit of flying armor on to catch up with the competition! Where did he even hide it?!" The Voice Heroine asked, amazed how he always had his hero costume on him, no matter his current state of wear or the situation. She should ask him if he could even get her Directional Speaker System support gear minimized and/or turned into his magic nanotech.
The green-haired inventor easily caught up with Todoroki and Kacchan, giving a friendly wave to the latter before he accelerated himself even faster, staying on course before encountering some villain robots from the practical. He fired a high-powered repulsor blast at it, completely severing the head of the robot from its body. Izuku considered showing off and destroying more robots, but ultimately realized that would only slow him down. He rocketed back on track, crossing an empty pit with ropes allowing some of the less aerial students to cross semi-safely.
He flew over a minefield as he crossed the finish line with flying colors, mentally commanding his nanites to go back into its container as he landed.
"And the man, I mean Midoriya, wins! What a shocker!" Present Mic announced, "Is there no one who can stop him?!" she asked excitedly, only partly serious.
Endeavor was so pissed that she was melting the bar rails that kept the crowd from falling into the field.
Her daughter, the perfect insubordinate girl she helped birthed into the world, failed against a stupid, no-good, idiotic man. The man crossed the finish line several minutes ahead of her daughter and that Bakugo woman who had a nice quirk, but had nothing against herself or her daughter's dual-type quirk.
How was this happening?!
A man, no matter how "smart" he appears to be, shouldn't be able to contend with quirked women, it simply was impossible. She watched him with keen interest and anger, wondering how he did it, how he managed to put on and off his suit of armor so quickly, like it was a quirk of his own making.
Endeavor stilled herself, an ephiany coming to her angry state of mind. What if this "smart" man were to have a child with her dear Shiho? Wouldn't their child inherit the man's brains and her daughter's amazing quirk? She smiled at the thought, brushing off the melted metal off her palms as she got up to get a drink of water.
She'd make sure her dear Shiho listened to reason, one way or another. The older Todoroki smiled, her plans were still coming to fruition, albeit in different ways.
"Okay, everyone! That sure was a heart-stopping event! Even I was amazed! Now, for the first 42 of you who managed to make it to the finish line, congratulations! You get to advance. For the rest of you, I'm sorry, but this is where you stop and watch," Nemuri announced, her heart going out to all the kids who just barely missed the cutoff point like it always did every year. She saw a majority of the students leave the field, some of them making their way to Recovery Girl's room for (presumably) healing. "And now for the second event of the evening: The Cavalry Battle!" she said into the microphone, the words coming onscreen behind her. "Everyone, please form a team of two to four individuals that looks like this," she said, the screen behind her showing the formation they'd have to be in to participate in the form of Thirteen and Present Mic holding up All Might. "The person who is the rider will wear the headband of the highest scoring person on their team, based on the placement you got in the race. However," she paused for dramatic effect, "the one who got first place in the obstacle race will have 10,000,000 points!" she revealed, much to the shock of everyone, especially Midoriya. "Now, go form teams! You have ten minutes."
"Fuck fuck fuck! No one will want to be on a team with me unless they're crazy!" Izuku thought to himself, looking each and every way, slightly hopeful that someone, anyone will want to be on a team with him.
"Greenie!" came a familiar voice from behind, Hatsume approaching too close as usual. "You want to be on a team with me? We can show off our babies together if we do!" she suggested, a manic smile on her face. She looked good in the unisex clothing, having a jetpack on her back.
"Hmm, being on a team with Hatsume will give us a tactical advantage due to both of our support gear. And if we're just a two person team we could dominate the skies and stay away from them all—"
"Hello? Greenie? I like your plan, let's do it!" she agreed, overhearing most of his muttering.
"I really need to stop muttering," he said, mostly to himself, as they decided he'd be the horse and she'd be the rider. He donned his Iron Man suit beforehand, not that the nanomachines couldn't wrap around him while she was on his shoulders. Thinking ahead, he commanded his nanites to form a safety harness around Hatsume's legs to secure her to his body without needing to hold her with his hands, allowing him to fly perfectly with added weight.
"And start!" Midnight announced, striking her whip on the ground near the mic, making everyone hear it.
Midoriya and Hatsume rocketed to the skies, staying a good fifty feet above the free-for-all. The pink-haired inventor had her jetpack online to lessen the workload of her science bro, much to his appreciation. They made lazy circles around the ring, watching like gods among mortals.
"Is there no one who can stop Midoriya and company?! Wait, what's that?!" Present Mic alerted, allowing Izuku and Hatsume to avoid the frantic grab for his 10,000,000 headband that Mei was wearing.
It was Kacchan, flying utilizing her quirk to explode herself upwards to achieve lift. "Pink Hair! Give it to me!" Bakugo demanded, turning on a dime and accelerating herself back to the duo. She had a hand outreached before she got shot in the chest with a weak repulsor blast set to stun, sending her flying downwards. Thankfully, her teammates had her back as Sero used her quirk, Tape, to fish her back to their formation.
"Wow! Is that even allowed?!" Yamada asked.
"As long as they don't touch the ground they're still in," Aizawa answered from the commentary booth.
Midoriya and Hatsume stayed above their classmates for the rest of the event, with nary a person trying to reach them. They heard Present Mic end it, and predictably, Izuku and Mei won in first place, with Team Todoroki in second place, followed by Team Bakugo.
"And that's a wrap, everyone! It's break time! Go use the bathroom or get something to eat from Lunch Rush!" Present Mic suggested.
"You did amazing, Izuku!" his mother cooed over the phone. She had called him a few minutes after the second event was over while he was getting food. "I didn't even know it was you when you passed the finish line! How did you build that awesome suit of armor?" she asked innocently.
"Well, it involves nanotechnology and is very complex. You see, each nanobot has a centralized computer…" he soon evolved into intellectual talk, his mother unable to keep up, her humming and saying yes at the right times. "…and then it connects to a neuro input on the base of my neck. In my next iteration of my suit I'm going to change that so it's more faithful to its movie counterpart."
"Oh, okay, sweetie. I won't pretend any further to even understand most of it, but I'm happy you're achieving your dream! I'm sorry that I didn't say the right thing back then," she apologized, remembering her baby boy crying profusely while pointing to a video of All Might saving tons of civilians, asking if he too could be a hero. She broke his heart back then by saying she was sorry, which she could now see was the wrong answer.
Midoriya sniffed, holding back the infamous "Midoriya Tears" as he said, "Thanks, Mom." They talked a little bit longer before he ended the call, happy to talk to his mother.
"You're doing great, sugar! I knew it too," Desiree praised. "We should do some celebratory sex after this."
"One-track mind, but yes, I agree," Izuku mentally replied before accidentally bumping into one of his classmates. "Oh, sorry, Todoroki. It's good to see you. You did well."
"Not good enough," she stoically said, her arms crossed, "My mom won't like this."
"Why? You got second place in both events," he informed her before hearing heavy footsteps behind them. The both of them turned around to see the large form of Endeavor, her quirk active and having flames protrude off of her.
"Speak of the devil…" Shiho muttered, her stoic face turning into a soured frown.
"Shiho, Midoriya. Come with me, I need to talk to you," the older Todoroki demanded, turning around on a dime and walking into an unoccupied room. The two teenagers looked to each other, both of them gulping before following suit, not wanting to get the number two pro heroine pissed off. They entered the room, seeing that Endeavor was sitting down at the head of the table, arms crossed and looking gruff/unapproachable. There was a vending machine nearby, which had his favorite soda in it. "You're probably wondering why I summoned you here."
"I am, ma'am," Midoriya said politely, taking a seat at the table, resisting the urge to get his soda. He watched as the younger Todoroki stood standing near the door, her arms similarly crossed.
"What do you want, Mom?" Shiho asked coldly.
"I'll be blunt: Midoriya, are you really as smart as Present Mic and Nozomi says?" Endeavor questioned. "I talked to them earlier and they were singing your praises, saying that you were truly a smart man. Are you?"
"I am," he said simply.
"Good, if things go smoothly we'll have you tested. You and my daughter are both stars, shining bright in the sky. I want the two of you to get married and bear several strong children for me," she ordered.
The two teenagers guffawed, with Midoriya choking on his own spit at the suddenness of all this.
"Master, is this bitch serious?" Desiree asked, incredulous.
"I don't give a damn if you two care about each other, I want strong grandchildren by the end of the next year."
"But-but that's insane! I don't even like Todoroki that way. We're barely even passing acquaintances!" Izuku argued, only to feel the heat coming from Endeavor triple in intensity, making him and Shiho sweat in the pro heroine's anger.
"I'll be contacting your mother, Midoriya, so we can finalize this. I will have what I want," Endeavor stated, getting up and leaving them.
Midoriya went through the next few actions on autopilot, standing up from his chair and going over to the vending machine to get his favorite drink. He chugged the Pepsi until it was empty and then threw it out in the recycling can. Todoroki was still in the room with him, shell-shocked over the event. "What-what the fuck! BELCH!" he stuttered out, grabbing his head as he paced the room, circling Shiho. "What the fuck just happened?! BURP!" he belched out.
"My mother just happened, Midoriya. There's no stopping her," she morosely said, clenching her hands into fists in anger and helplessness.
"No, fuck that!" he swore, rousing her from her rumination. "We're going to principal Nozomi and Aizawa-sensei, now," he practically demanded, tugging her by the hand to go to the adults to get some guidance. They would know what to do.
Hopefully.
