"Ready to spar, Midoriya?" Aizawa asked as he limbered himself up, wearing some light armor to protect him from his student. The two of them were in Gym Alpha and they were not to be disturbed as they trained. The gym had wood-paneled floors that was freshly waxed, and the overhead fluorescent lights provided enough light to see.
"I still can't believe we're at UA, sir," Midoriya answered as he stretched his muscles as well, not wearing any armor due to one of his new quirks. "But yes, I'm ready!"
"Good, let's begin!" Shouta announced before sending out his support gear, that being his binding cloth. It raced to Midoriya, who blocked it with a hexagonal stone-like shield, the size of a medieval one. With his other hand he formed another hexagonal shield the size of a frisbee and threw it at his mentor, who easily dodged once he returned his binding cloth back to him.
Midoriya, having a spark of braveness (or maybe foolhardiness), rushed Aizawa-sensei, forming a large drill with his hand. He aimed for the armor of his sensei and struck true. Of course, this was all Aizawa's plan as he used some martial arts to redirect the attack and send his student flying onto his back by picking him up and throwing him.
"You overextend yourself, kid. Do better," the tired pro instructed, helping Midoriya up by offering a hand. "I want you to get more creative on closing the gap between us. I know you can do it, if you think correctly."
"Okay, Aizawa-sensei. I think I got an idea," Izuku alluded to as they stepped a ways away from each other. They bowed to each other before they got into a combative stance.
"Rush me, Midoriya, give me no time to react," Shouta ordered.
"On it!" Midoriya promised as he conjured small drills to appear on the sole of each of his shoes. He balanced himself carefully before he got the hang of it and maneuvered quickly to his mentor, closing the distance in a couple of seconds. He manifested a drill and drilled at Aizawa-sensei's armor, causing it to get caught up in the spin and be ripped away. He stopped his assault, waiting for direction.
"Good job, kid, but let's see if you can combine your quirks more easily. Come up with another move that combines both Shield and Drill, got it?" Aizawa gave a rare small smile at the impressiveness of his newest protégé.
They stepped away from each other again, being about thirty feet between them. Midoriya spawned in a medium-sized shield before putting an equally as big drill on the underside of the hexagonal stone-like shield. Since the drill was in motion he threw it on the ground to Aizawa-sensei like a dreidel, it racing like a top to the man. The teacher smirked at the inventiveness as he jumped over the drill and watched it spin its way into a wall, getting flung onto its side where it was a health hazard.
"That's more like it," Eraserhead encouraged.
Suddenly the doors to the gymnasium opened once more, revealing an angry-looking All Might yet again. He entered and beelined his way to the closest wall, leaning against it while he watched them.
Aizawa shrugged as he and Midoriya continued to spar, half having some legitimate fun and half being educational. Aizawa sometimes used his quirk Erasure to gain the upper hand sometimes in the battle; and Izuku used Drill and Metal Knuckles in conjunction by making super small drills on the ends of his knuckles, totaling four in total on each hand, and then he activated the latter and reinforced the drills with the silver metal of Metal Knuckles. This resulted in a new super move, much to the delight of Aizawa and Midoriya, and much to the disgust, fear, and anger of All Might.
He couldn't allow this to fester and erupt disastrously any further so he shouted, "Stop!" literally jumping in and getting between Eraserhead and Izuku, creating a divide. "Young Midoriya," he said the words as if it were vile, "you will return those stolen quirks this instant!" All Might ordered, looming tall over the scrawny young man.
"He can't, they're dead," Aizawa told the number one pro hero. He walked around All Might and got in front of his protégé, to better protect him. "Besides, he legally doesn't have to. What he needs is training."
"No, Aizawa, what this young man needs is imprisonment! He's coming with me right away!" All Might demanded. Midoriya shrunk into himself at hearing his star, his idol being so incongruous to him.
"And, pray tell, why?" Shouta asked, looking completely unamused.
"He has All for One, a quirk that can steal quirks! He's an international threat that's being allowed to roam free, unrestricted, and you don't see the harm in that?!" All Might yelled, thankfully not in the other man's face. The blond superhero looked past Aizawa and saw the cowering form of Midoriya, the pro's heart sinking at the thought that he was scaring the young man; but he toughened himself up, trying to see the young lad as the dangerous foe that needed to be put down, that needed to be extinguished before things got worse. "He already has, what, three quirks that he stole priorly? Now add on to that with these two new quirks and you're making a monster."
"Don't talk about my student that way, All Might," Eraserhead coldly warned before turning around, his glare softening as he told his protégé, "Kid, it's time to go home. You know the way back.
"Uh, yes sir!" Midoriya squeaked out before running away, getting as far as possible to get back home.
"Are you proud of yourself of condemning a child, All Might?" Aizawa asked hotly, crossing his arms in disappointment. "And for one, he returned the stolen quirks yesterday."
All Might looked confused at that fact, "Why the hell would he do that? He has All for One, for god's sake!"
"Maybe because he's not a villain?" Shouta rhetorically pointed out. "He wanted to become a hero, we said that he could if he listened to us, and then he obeyed. He gave those quirks up willingly, All Might, willingly," Aizawa stressed, trying to get through the man's thick skull. "He's nothing like the original All for One, his actions alone has proven it several times over."
All Might opened his mouth to rebuke but found that there was no logical loopholes nor reasons why to condemn the youngest Midoriya. He has proven that he was nothing like the original All for One, and the newest one only took quirks out of quirk madness, and also that he returned the quirks he stole when asked. He was nothing like All for One…was that the problem? Was that the reason why All Might was all gung-ho about getting Young Midoriya arrested, that he could become his arch nemesis?
The number one pro hero closed his mouth before stomping away, a common occurrence these days apparently.
Aizawa counted that as a win as he took out a jelly pouch and began drinking it, wanting to sleep before his next patrol.
"How did everything go, sweetie?" Inko asked as she got a plateful of katsudon in front of her only son. She sat across from him at the table as they both digged into Izuku's favorite meal.
"It went well, All Might doesn't like or trust me very much," Izuku told her, loving the texture and taste of the food.
"Don't listen to that man, dear, remember that Aizawa, Nedzu, and Tsukauchi on your side," she reminded.
"Thanks, Mom."
"Of course, my baby boy."
Dinner finished soon after, with both Midoriyas departing to their rooms. Izuku opened up his History Notes, writing new stuff for his two new quirks:
Shield (Transformation-type): Allows the user to conjure hexagonal stone-like shields anywhere on the body for defensive and offensive capabilities.
Drill (Emitter/Transformation-type): Allows the user to create drills anywhere on the body or surface that's no further than half a foot away. The user can control the speed of each individual drill and their direction in which they spin.
Once that was done he decided to write some theories:
Shield Theories:
Theory #1: I can make shields all across my body to protect myself (tested flawlessly, however I don't know where to place all the extra shields. Throw them away?).
Theory #2: I can make shields all over my body and explode them outwardly (tested and works, though I damaged my expensive All Might posters that I've been meaning to put it away ever since meeting the man).
Drill Theories:
Theory #1: I can tunnel down into the earth like a mole and appear out of the ground some ways away (untested, need flat local dirt to test and ruin).
Theory #2: I can have inactive drills if I want (tested flawlessly, they only move if I want them to move).
Theory #3: The size of the drill is entirely dependent on what I want (tested flawlessly, but I can't get them smaller than a 5 yen coin and no bigger than an American basketball).
Theory #4: I can have the drill be inactive and use it as a regular weapon (tested thoroughly, works well).
He finished writing down the theories, satisfied of his in-depth analysis. Izuku wondered what he should do next before he decided it was time for bed, getting into his bed covers and relaxing from a kind of nice day, barring the interaction with All Might.
All Might was nothing like Midoriya had built up within the confines of his mind. He was a bully, just like Kacchan, condemning him for things at every opportunity. He was glad and thankful for Aizawa-sensei, as he protected him whenever All Might verbally attacked him.
Midoriya closed his eyes, falling asleep, ready for the next day.
"Okay, kid, listen closely but don't stop working out," Aizawa instructed as he watched his charge lift the dumbbells rhythmically in the private gym. "There used to be someone with your quirk—"
"I knew it!" Midoriya exclaimed before getting shushed by his mentor.
"Keep it down," Shouta instructed. "His name was, ironically enough, All for One. He used to be the big bad guy of the underworld, amassing strength with his stolen quirks."
"Who stopped him?" Izuku asked, working up a sweat.
"All Might, about five years ago," Eraserhead told him what Yagi told the tired pro. "Since then he's been dead, his 'villainous,'" he made air-quotes, "quirk has disappeared from the face of the Earth…until yours appear."
"I promise I won't become like the evil All for One, sir!" Midoriya promised in a raised, but not too loud to disturb others, voice. He wanted to use Metal Knuckles to better lift the dumbbells as they were killing his biceps, although he realized that'd be cheating so he kept at it. "How many similarities are there to the original?"
"Some. The original AFO—that's how I'm going to shorten it—had holes in his hands on his palms about the size of a American quarter, and when he took quirks some sort of red electricity manifested during the process of him taking quirks. He also, apparently, had the ability to forcibly activate quirks if he was in contact with a person, though we don't know if that was a separate quirk or not."
"Do you want me to see if I can do that?" the greenette asked, stopping his workout.
"Yes, kid, it's why I brought it up," Aizawa said gruffly, holding out a hand to the younger man while simultaneously looking away from him to not interfere with the procedure. Midoriya put down the workout equipment and took his teacher's hand, forming a handshake. Instead of trying to steal the quirk or return one like he usually did, he tried tugging on the string like he would when he had it under his control.
Instantly Aizawa's quirk activated, his eyes flashing red as he turned off all the quirks he could see in front of him. After doing so for five seconds Izuku stopped tugging on the string, retracting his hand as he did so.
"Great, you can forcibly activate others' quirks against their will. Good to know," Shouta drawled out, taking out his prescription-strength eye drops and putting some into both eyes with expert precision, as he's done this over a thousand times. "So we know that, what else can we figure out?"
"Um, sir? My version of All for One, at least, tells me if you can accommodate another quirk. You can, Aizawa-sensei," Midoriya told his teacher. "Do you want to have another quirk temporarily?"
Shouta hummed at the thought of having another power under his belt, in his arsenal temporarily and then said, "Sure, why not?" The two did a handshake and in the process Midoriya gave over one of his older quirks, Metal Knuckles, to the man. Aizawa didn't feel any different…wait, that was wrong. He did feel something different, something extra inside of him. It was noninvasive and just there, as if it was a new limb. He tried activating it and felt his knuckles shift into something else. He looked at his hands and found they had a copper-sheen look on them; he touched them with his normal fingers and found that they felt like the metal. He tapped his fists together and they made a tinging noise, just like copper. "Hmm?" he simply said before offering his a handshake back to his student, who took both it and the quirk back. "I have a couple of questions, kid. And don't slack off, keep working out," he ordered.
"Name the questions, sir," Midoriya said as he returned to his workout.
"First, how do you know which quirk to take when someone has two or more? Like earlier with me when you gave me Metal Knuckles."
"Oh, I can see quirks as strings."
"Strings?" Aizawa parroted, confused.
"Whenever I touch someone I have a visual representation of their quirk as a floating string. Each quirk, or string, if you will, has a color and different feel to it, if that makes sense. With this I can tell which string is which when I have to take one. Your quirk is black and red, by the way," Izuku informed him.
"How enlightening, we should tell this to Nedzu later." Aizawa took out his smartphone and shot a quick text to the rodent detailing that they needed to talk about Midoriya's version of AFO when he returned to the conversation, "Second, how many quirks can you have?"
"I don't know, sir. At max I had six quirks in my arsenal if you include my original quirk and I didn't feel down or under stress, Aizawa-sensei," Midoriya chirped out happily. "Anything else, sir?"
"Yes; third, how many quirks can a person that's not you have, problem child?"
Izuku raised an eyebrow at the new nickname before just rolling with it, "I haven't extensively tested it, but I think most people can handle two, maybe three if they're really fit and compatible, but that's just a guess. You yourself, sir, can only handle two quirks."
"I guess I'm average then," the tired pro smiled softly, not at all miffed that he could only handle two quirks. In fact, he truly didn't care as long as he kept his original quirk, Erasure. "Fourth and final one, do you think you could ever give AFO to another person?"
"I don't think so, sir, and I wouldn't want to try. I don't want the quirk to end up in the wrong hands," Midoriya pointed out.
"Huh, point taken, kid. Okay, time to teach you some boxing tips."
