3 Why?
Tosh wandered over the medical bay as she thought about the conversations she had with Owen in the tiled room. She was dead. So was he, but he was really gone as far as she could tell. She was here. In Cardiff. Not even haunting somewhere she could enjoy. Even her afterlife seemed to be consumed by work.
"Why?" She wandered around the room. The whole room was silent. She sighed, still unused to not hearing her own footsteps as she wandered around the small room. "Owen why is it that I am here and not you?" She closed her eyes. "Why do you get to rest in peace and I get overtime?"
"Not fair, is it?" She turned to see Rhys sat on the step. "Did you think the answer would be in 'ere?"
She shrugged. "You can see me?"
"Yeah." He nodded. "Everyone here can see you. I never saw a ghost before. Honestly? Never really believed in them."
"Neither did I." Tosh smiled. She had always liked Rhys. He was just one of the people in the world that she knew was intrinsically good. He loved his wife and their daughter. And she knew, that to him Anwen and Gwen were all that mattered.
"Is that why you are down 'ere? Trying to work out why?"
"Yes."
"So?"
"Nothing. No answers as yet." She closed her eyes. "Rhys, I should be." She paused. "Gone."
"But something is keeping you 'ere?"
"Yes."
"And?"
"I can't talk to anyone about it. Gwen and Jack were there when I died. Ianto tells me how much they missed me. How can I say I want to go? I want to go back to wherever I was before."
"Before what?"
"I dunno." She ran a hand through her hair. "I died. I actually died. I felt it. I was gone. Then I was walking through the Hub. Myfnawy was screeching and it was like any other day. Until I couldn't leave. No one else was here and I wanted to find them. But every time I go through the front door I end up back here. Its hopeless."
"OK." Rhys paused. "You don't want the others to know you are miserable because they missed you? You don't want them to think they are holding you here or that you are ungrateful."
"Sounds like a band." She smirked. "The Ungrateful Dead."
"Funny."
"I thought so."
"I am serious Tosh."
"I know."
"So, you need a bit of help finding out what's going on?"
"Please." She looked at her friend. "I love the team. I really do but."
"I get it." Rhys nodded. "You need answers."
"I do." She paused. "I need a purpose."
Rhys smiled. "Don't we all, love. Don't we all?"
