Chapter 73: The Heart of Cloud Tower and Fire problems

In the Heart Chambers, everyone was tensed up with the Trix were about to claim their prize, but to everyone's surprise to find instead the piece of the codex was none other than Griffin herself. No one expected to find the headmistress down here.

"So much witch magic." Stella muttered.

"Are we too late?" Flora pondered.

Griffin walked out of the chamber, and did not appear to be overall pleased with the company she had.

"What is going on?!" Icy demanded answers, she was certain this had to be the place the codex was hidden. Could it have been put elsewhere or was it all a trap.

"Congratulations, Trix. You've just found my personal spa." Griffin caught them by surprise.

"This… isn't the Codex vault?" Darcy thought.

Even Tecna had assumed that this was the location of the Codex. "I miscalculated?"

"Wait, did you say this was a spa?" Mal scratched her head, not able to picture that thing being one.

The headmistress then explains to them the real reason for being here. "I usually come here to relax but today I came to wait for you three."

Unable to believe they were deceived by their former headmistress, in a fit of rage, the Trix glowed in their respective auras as they were ready for a fight. "What, you think we're afraid of you?" Stormy was confident, and yet arrogant to believe they can take on the headmistress herself.

"Uh, aren't you three forgetting something?" Mal smirks at them.

Both the Winx Club and the students were ready for one as she is. "You wanna fight? You'll be fighting all of us!" Musa proclaimed.

Realising they were outnumbered and outmatched, the Trix had only one option and Darcy had an idea. "Total Darkness!" Casting a spell to engulf the entire vault in complete darkness, preventing anyone seeing anything.

"Sunbeam!" Stella immediately used her staff to brighten the room, but to their dismay that the Trix had escaped once again.

"They got away!" Layla said.

"Obviously the only thing they're ever good at these days." Mal thought.

"Forget about them. We have to help Bloom." Flora walks over to Bloom who was unconscious from her fight.

The Blaze Belchers continue to wreak havoc wherever they go, only to find themselves in a situation against Steam Star and Blowfish chasing after a group of them, while Jay, Carlos and Evie go after the other, at first they had them cornered, but the Burn Bellies learned to use their new abilities to multiply, making it much harder. They did not expect to have trouble with a keyblader accompanying them.

"Ice!" Taren forced some of them, thinking they caught a few, but the creatures were able to escape using their fire abilities. Even if they did catch a few, their numbers grew.

Evie grunts. "This is getting us nowhere. The more those things eat, the more they burp more."

"Yeah, and more of them could spell trouble for everyone." Taren said.

"Well at least they're not farting." Jay thought it would have been better than that, earning a look of disgust from Evie. "What?"

Taren tried to think of something that could help with the situation, then he remember that sprinkler gizmo Gargle made to put out the fires. Turning to Carlos to give his idea. "Wait a sec, that sprinkler, Gargle made? Maybe you can get him to make something like that to capture them."

"What? But he won't listen to me. I don't think I can do this." Carlos doubted it could work.

"Sometimes to gain control, you have to give up control. It's something I learned after knowing more about my powers and still do." Taren knew for certain Carlos can do it.

Carlos wasn't sure about it. "Uh, but what if I screw up?"

"Dude, earlier on, you faced your fear of dogs and helped take on a witch with a killer puppet." Jay reached out for his shoulder to encourage his best friend. "I didn't leave you out when I got you on the team, didn't I? No, you got this."

"Yeah, maybe not use your head more and do like you opened up with Dude, trust your heart." Evie encouraged him to try it, which ultimately he did.

Sighs in defeat and took their advice. "Okay, I'll try." Taking a step before Gargle and giving it his best shot. "Listen, Gargle, I know we didn't get a good start, I didn't get much of that when growing up, not easy. But made great friends and also to work with you as… as a friend."

"Friend?" Gargle perked with curiosity.

"Yeah, and like I said, I promise to take you to the computers and libraries, even find any spare tech not used to whatever you want." Making sure to keep his word on it.

"Hey, maybe help with some grades while you're at it." Jay suggested, earning an elbow in the arm by Evie. "What? I was kidding!"

"C-Arlos like Gargle?"

"Yeah, now what do you say to show us what you can do? Maybe something that can catch all those Burn Bellies before they escape?" Carlos asked him, something that could help them.

Gargle began to process through his intellect and calculate the data. "Tools."

The Cyber Lord immediately went to work, gathering available tools and equipment, gathering glass and anything non-flammable.

Evie realized what he was up to. "I get it, all this is fireproof, meaning the Burn Bellies won't melt through or eat any of this."

"Hurry up, guys! I think they're multiplying again!" Jay yells out, reminding them of the time limit.

Gargle's form glowed and used the items gathered to create one large glass containment.

"Cool!" Carlos was amazed. "But one question… what's it do?" Showing him how it works, Gargle controls it using his connection with the machine, a tube came out and sucked up the first creature they caught into the containment. The machine hovered from the ground as the duo began going after the rest of the Blaze Belchers, sucking them up like a vacuum cleaner. It was also much easier with Taren using Gravity and Stopra to catch the creatures to be contained.

The teens rounded up all of them, as they had completed their task.

"Looks like we got them all." Evie smiled and was glad it was over.

Taren was glad about it. "Great, now let's banish them once and fo-uh, guys?" He noticed the trio backing away, Evie suddenly held her hands over her mouth in a sign of disgust, Jay's eyes widened and his jaw hanging and Carlos looked pale. Having an uneasy feeling something was wrong, the redhead turned around and could not believe what he was seeing.

One of the Blaze Belchers was growing bigger and larger…eating its own copies.

"That's just… sick." Jay held his stomach as he felt like losing his lunch. "I think I'm gonna hurl."

"Please don't." Evie felt she was gonna lose hers but resisted. Gagging in her mouth.

As the Blaze Belcher devoured the last one, it was so huge, it fit the entire containment. And it was now ready to let loose a bigger belch. Everyone got the same idea as they backed away from a safe distance just before it released a huge burp, unleashing a blazing fire that destroyed its prison and threw everyone off guard by the explosion.

They pulled themselves up to see the damage done, assuming the creature blew up, only to look more feral, larger and muscular than it was. Almost all of its clothes burned and ripped, some still hanging on to it, but didn't seem concerned by its appearance.

"Wow… talk about growing up fast." Jay gulped.

Realizing the situation got worse, Taren went with the previous suggestion they thought. "Yeah… maybe we should call the masters"

The now mutated and giant version of the Blaze Belcher sat out a hot ball of fire as it roared.

Taren had no idea how to deal with this creature, decided to call Aqua and Ventus on his phone to alert them.

Aqua's voice answered his call. "Hello? Taren? How's it going, did you kids find that little guy?"

"Hey, master Aqua, uh, remember that cute little Burn Belly you described? Did the info say anything about multiplying and well.. Grow huge?

"Huge and monstrous!" Jay cried out.

"Multiply? Grow big? Not that I know of. Why?" She knew it was not going to be something she wanted to hear.

"Well… it's a big… what are we calling this?" Taren had no idea what name to give it, as the monster started destroying everything around it. And also eating everything.

"Big, Ommm Nommm Nommm!" Gargle replied, muttering in garbled words out of disgust of the huge creature's eating habits.

Seeing as they might as well go along with it. "Yeah, a big Om Nom Nom. Big appetite. Big belly." Taren informs her.

"And bigger burps." Evie recalled.

"That can't be good. Okay, Taren change of plans, you handle it with your strength, but if not, try to keep it busy long enough for back."

"Got it." Taren nodded and hung up. "But also allowed me to step in to take this thing on." With that, he didn't have to worry about the trio in danger and go all out.

"Alright, stinger, let's give this guy something to cool off!" Jay commands the Steam Star attack.

"Bouyant Blowfish, sting him!" Evie does the same, as the two water creatures were unfortunately crushed by the large foot of the mutated creature before it could Om Nom Nom appeared to be interested in something else and left, leaving the two creatures to be sent back to their world.

Taren made his move to use Strike Raid to attack and only left some scratches, causing the monster to roar in annoyance and retaliated by spewing more fire balls, forcing the group to disperse and take cover. "Reflect!" Casting a protective barrier to take the impact before it could touch them, obviously this was much tougher than they thought.

Deciding to make its leave, the giant beast simply walked through a wall and destroyed it without signs of struggle, letting out a loud roar, the Om Nom Nom looked around for what else to eat.

"We're gonna need a bigger cage." Carlos muttered.

"After it!" Taren sprinted off to follow the giant monster with the teens right behind him. Making himself outside to find the giant red furred monster from a distance and making its way towards the bridge. "He's heading to the bridge!"

Evie gasped. "He's gonna eat the bridge!"

Carlos pulled out his pad and found out there was a train on its way. "If I'm reading this right, there's a train coming in a few minutes! We'll never make it!"

Taren cursed himself for not having his rod with him to have a cycle, maybe Agumon as Graymon could give them a lift. But before he could bring out his Digimon, Gargle arrived in a recently constructed hovercraft.

"Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-TAA! All aboard!"

Climbing aboard the craft and taking off to pursue the Kaiju through the debris it left behind. "There it is!" Evie spotted it, already eating parts of the bridge. So far it wasn't making more of itself as they noticed, which was a major relief, but still was giant and much stronger than its original form.

"Time to take this guy down." Decided to call in for help, Taren pulled out his gauntlet and called forth a creature to help. "Stand back guys. "Tatsurion the Unchained!" Opening a portal to summon Tatsurion to help them. The dragon hybrid roars after being summoned to their world.

Upon seeing the sight of him made Gargle whimper in fear of him.

"You summoned me to fight this… this puddle?" Tatsurion questioned Taren.

Gargle backed off and jumped behind Carlos to hide from him.

To give him an answer, all four of them pointed their fingers at his actual opponent who was eating the steel metal. Thus, Tatusion realized who he was actually meant to fight. "Uh, y-yes, I see. Well then, uh, let's go." He picked up the keybearer to ride on his back before run off into battle, both using their attacks as Tatsurion slammed his horned head into the leg, while Taren performs an Fire Dash, engulfing himself in fire before charging into the Om Nom Nom, causing it to cry out and to stumble backwards before losing its balance, making it fall to the ground. They were successful in stopping it, but from a distance was the sound of a train coming.

"Guys, we don't have much time!" Jay shouted, knowing they had little time to spare.

"We got no creatures apart from Gargle and-" Evie had an idea and looked at the area. "Wait a sec, Carlos, give him your pad."

"What? Why" Carlos wondered why she wanted him to use the pad until he remembered what Gargle can do. "Oh! Right! Gargle, here's all the information on trains, all we need is to make sure that bridge doesn't collapse."

"Help? Repair bridge?"

The small creature takes his pad and begins his work while Taren and Tatsurion face off the monster. With their size compared to the beast, they had the advantage with Tatsurion's speed and Taren's magic to cause damage and provide support. Whipping out one of his chains to wrap around one of its ankles, but the Om Nom Nom grabbed it and yanked him in the air and slammed back down in the river. Taren leaped off in the air and performed a new technique he learned. "Ars Solum!" Assailing multiple hits with his keyblade against the monster's face, causing his foe to roar in pain and swatted him with its hand, fortunately Taren was caught by his partner.

Taren groaned and sore, he could hear the train coming closer and louder. First thought that he failed as the structure of the train was starting to collapse, however, luck was on their side when Gargle's latest creature became active and pushed the structure back into place. Hoping it would hold, the train was now in sight and drove by without danger.

They were relieved that it was over, and now can finish off the monster. Charging in once more, dodging the large claws and feet, Taren gave Tatsurion the boost to tackle head on and used their fire attacks, making a powerful blow to knock it over once more.

Taren had to admit, Tatsurion was starting to get the hang of it. "Hey, I know you don't like dodging much, but you did great!"

"Thanks." Tatsurion took it as a compliment.

The Om Nom Nom was about to attack, when suddenly it was attacked from the side by a fast moving blur and ice burst from the ground. Those attacks came from Ventus and Aqua who arrived just in time to help.

"Masters Ventus and Aqua!" Evie was relieved they came in time.

"Sorry we came a little late." Ventus came up to join them and saw the sight of the monster. "Okay, that's real big."

"That's the thing that use to be small?" Aqua was baffled by how this happened, but had no time for questions and answers. "Never mind, we need to focus on banishing it, is there anything you found out that could defeat it?"

"Anything could help! I don't think Bob and I can hold out much longer!" Taren yelled out before using Reflect against another fire blast, unable to hold out with their limit, but relieved to see them.

Gargle found a solution to stop the monster. "Hot, hot, hot and spicy!"

"Hot and spicy? What's that mean?" Ventus had no idea what it was talking about.

Carlos suddenly had an idea. "Wait, I think I know! Give that thing a major indigestion."

"You mean make it eat something to disagree with it's stomach?" Jay asked.

"Yeah, if it can't burp, it could blow up." Carlos replied.

"Oh, I get it." Taren understood. "Bob, you think you can wrap up your chains around its mouth?"

Uncertain if it can be done, but they had limited options. "Hmm, it won't be easy."

"We'll help you out." Aqua summons the Stormfall to her hand and makes her move by running at enhanced speed. "Triple Blizzagat!" Creating chunks of ice to deal some blows to the Om Nom Nom from below.

Ventus with his Wayward Wind makes his move. "Tornado Strike!" Creating a powerful hurricane to confuse it, despite its size, the attack had only stunned it, but enough for an opening with it's head turned.

"Now!" Taren yelled out as Tatsurion then jumped in the air, Taren used Slow on it before it could react, giving Tatsurion the chance to throw his chain around its mouth and sealed shut. The Om Nom Nom tried to break free by releasing a fire attack, only to find its mouth shut and nowhere to escape. Its cheeks inflated and its body turned red before it blew up and engulfed in red aura, transferring it back to its home dimension.

Everyone was relieved that it was over, but were left with questions and few answers.

Bloom had on idea how long she was out, the last thing she remembered was battling with the Trix and everything went dark. She only heard several voices but was too unconscious to know who they were until she completely fell unconscious for a moment until waking up, but still unable to see. Luckily her friends were there for her and helped her back to their dorm, following their voices and felt the bed she was sitting on while listening to Flora's voice.

"Alright, take it easy...there." Listening to Flora's gentle voice as she and Stella were beside her. Finally opening her eyes and being able to see again, her vision was starting to come back as she could see her hand. "Griffin used a spell to cure your blindness."

"How do you feel?" Turns to find Mal who was with her, including the Digimon present.

Responded with a soft groan, Bloom fell back on her bed and held her head softly. "Ugh, I feel terrible."

"Well, serves you right for taking on the Trix all alone." Stella scolded her for doing such a reckless stunt.

Layla didn't approve of Stella's choice of words when Bloom was starting to recover. "Nicely done Stella. Give her flack as soon as she comes to...

"No, Stella's right. I shouldn't have run off on my own." Bloom didn't blame Stella as she was too focused on stopping the Trix getting the Codex, she thought she could take them on without help. But she might have let that got to her head without knowing her limits.

"Yeah well, live and learn." Stella said, but relieved her best friend was safe.

Musa tries to reassure her. "It's okay, don't worry about-"

"This is all my fault. If it weren't for me, none of this would've happened." Tecna felt ashamed, she should have listened to Mal from blabbing outloud of the Codex's supposed location but didn't listen to her about the Trix already listening to her every word.

"Well, I hope you've learned your lesson. Well you'll never see me go off on my own." Stella says.

"Stella!" All the girls and the Digimon yelled at the same time.

"What?" Stella had no idea until she remembered what she said, smiling sheepishly and apologies to them. "Oopsie. Sorry."

"I hate this. How could Griffin be so pathetic as to team up with the fairies?" Icy couldn't believe the headmistress they once feared and yet looked up to, would side with the fairies, especially the Winx Club.

"Finding the codex is useless if they're guarding it." Darcy knew it was going to be much harder than they thought. They were lucky to escape before Griffin could capture them. If Kefka was with them at the time, they would have got the codex in their grasp by now. "We can't take on Griffin and the fairies at the same time."

"Why not? We should have tried." Stormy didn't seem to think so.

"No, it's pointless." Icy tried to think of a way to beat them.

"We beat Bloom and those other two easily enough." Stormy told them.

"That's right, so why weren't the Winx together?" Darcy had a good point, apart from the keybladers due to being only to allow girls to attend, they would expect the majority of the Winx as they normally work together.

Whatever was going on, it could be useful to the Trix. Icy then smiles deviously. "I'm not sure. But if they keep this up we'll pick them off, one after another."

The sun was rising from the horizon, which means a new day had come, the Winx Club along with Mal, Zing, Lucy, and Mirta who were fully dressed walked through the hallway hallway. Taking a moment to split into groups, Bloom with Tecna, Flora and Layla with Zing to accompany them, Mirta and Lucy, and finally Stella, Mal and Musa. Each of them taking a direction they went, holding a dark red gemstone in their hands.

Flashback

The girls gathered in Griffin's office for something important for the headmistress to say to them. "Good morning. I hope everyone is feeling better."

Lucy was somewhat appearing better from yesterday's encounter with the Trix. "Yes, Ma'am."

Layla, however, who did not get much sleep and looked tired as she let out a yawn. "No sleep for two nights."

Griffin wasn't concerned about it, but the girls will be fully alert for what she has to tell them. "Good, now listen closely. I've discovered how the Trix are getting around. They have help from Cloud Tower."

Tecna remembered what she found out about the school from the professors of being a living creature. "That's right, Cloud Tower is alive. But how are they controlling it?"

"There's a spell, however they cannot move through the walls without me knowing about it." Griffin tells them.

"Maybe they've increased the spell's strength with the power they got from Darkar?" Bloom believed it to be the power of the Gloomix they were given.

Griffin agreed with her. "Yes, I've come to that same conclusion."

"Wait, didn't I hear you say the Trix can move through the walls?" Stella brought up the previous subject of how they found the heart chamber so fast.

"That means they can just show up anywhere." Lucy started to worry should they show up to confront her again.

Mirta placedher hands on her best friend's shoulders to calm her down. She wasn't going to let them hurt her. "It'll be okay, Lucy."

"Now, in order for you to track them, I've made these ruby coins." Handing out the gemstones to each of them.

Stella looked at them in awe of how beautiful they were. "Pretty."

"I doubt she gave them out for jewelry, Stella." Mal remarked.

Griffin nodded and explained the purpose of the gems. "The coins will light up if a spell is being used to control the tower in your area.

"So, we just split up and track down the Trix with these coins?" Musa wasn't so sure about it after what happened last time.

"But how will we keep in touch?" Layla asked.

Bloom also had the same idea as she did. "Lady Griffin, we'll need a way to communicate with each other."

"Simple enough. If the Trix are capable of getting Cloud Tower to work for them, so are you. Exclamo!" Calling out her magic to carve an ear-shaped hole in the wall.*

"So we just talk into that weird thing, is that it?" Stella never expected herself to talk the hole in the wall.

"Yes, and your friends will be able to hear you." The headmistress instructed them, that way they will know something is up or find the Trix at a faster pace. Something much like a cellphone as they thought.

End Flashback.

The girls now separated and took their own direction, with the gemstones to help them stay in contact, they will surely have an upperhand now.

Little did any of them know that they were being observed.

"That is so sweet of them." Darcy wore a small grin after watching them split up.

Stormy didn't think they would do another move like that after they almost failed. "Those fairies are splitting up?"

But for Icy, this was an opportunity to find the actual location of the second codex fragment. "Let's make sure they stay that way."

Flora, Layla, and Zing walk down to the hallway they took, Flora had an uneasy feeling something might go wrong when she noticed how things appear different and not what she remembered during her time in Cloud Tower, if only she had asked Mal and Mirta when they knew more about this during their stay. "Layla, do you think we might be lost? I'm not sure if Cloud Tower is supposed to look like this."

Layla might have the same feeling as Flora. "Well, the Trix control things around here, so…"

"Y-you don't think they're close by, do you?" The fairy of nature was starting to get nervous, but had to keep herself from getting too scared, now wishing Taren was with her right now to make her feel better.

"Don't worry, I keep this handy for close encounters but they mostly come out at night, mostly." Zing comforts her in a way.

The coin in Flora's hand started to glow bright red, startling the girls. "The coin!"

Layla had no idea what was going on. "What's happening?!" Then she felt a hand on her shoulder, causing both girls to turn around in startled fright, only to find Griffin right behind them.

"My, aren't we jumpy today? Layla, I didn't expect someone of your metal to be reacting like this.

Calming herself down and a little embarrassed for being a little jumpy, Layla was relieved it was just the headmistress. "Yeah, I'm just feeling a little nervous today, for some reason."

"Well, you try to stay calm and if you see anything contact the others. I'll go check on them." Griffin then made her leave to find the rest.

"Hope she checks on Stella next, she could use the scare." Layla thought of an amusing moment of seeing Stella jump in fright.

Musa, Mal and Stella walked into the potion lab, finding the place a complete wreck with so much shattered glass and books scattered.

"Stormy's been here, I recognise her lack of style." Musa observed the room as it seemed the Trix were either looking for something to find the codex, or used the place to let out her frustration.

"Speaking of "style", that broken glass reminds me of the sequins in Chiffon's winter collection." Stella noticed, yet they had to continue their search and hope the others found something.

"But we know they couldn't have been here for long, maybe we should find out anything that's out in the ordinary and find out." Mal suggested and perhaps some possible clues about the Trix's whereabouts.

In an empty classroom, Bloom and Tecna took this one to do their search. Bloom didn't think it was working with the Trix still hiding somewhere in the school and needed to stop them.

"This kind of search is too slow, there's gotta be a better way.

"Don't look at me, apparently fairies and logic don't mix." Tecna bitterly responded, which was obvious to Bloom that she was still feeling down about what happened the other day and blaming herself for it.

"Tecna, no one blames you."

"Do they blame you? Huh?" Tecna shot back with a glare, but a moment later she felt a little down for lashing out on Bloom like that.

Bloom had a good idea to help Tecna feel better, just how she helped Taren when he felt frustrated after failing to get the Shield of Unity. "Look, maybe we could use a technical charm. After all, they've always helped us in the past."

Taking Bloom's advice, it brought some positive thoughts to Tecna. "Now that you mention it, I do know of something that might help. Let me log in." She took one of the desks to sit down and pulls out a hand held device.

Suddenly, they heard a loud noise in the distance.

"What was that?" Deciding to find out, Bloom goes off on her own but Tecna stops her.

"Bloom, wait! I- I don't want to spend the rest of the day on ice again." Not wanting to go through another traumatic experience like that again.

"Don't worry, I won't run out on you." Bloom promises her and stays with her, still curious to know what made that noise.

Back in Griffin's office, she closes a spell book she brought out from her desk and was holding a scroll. Zarathrustra was present and curious of what she was planning.

"Lady Griffin, where are you going?"

"To meditate." Griffin stated, pickling up a crystal ball as well. "I must regain total control of the tower."

"Don't tell me you sent the fairies out just to keep the Trix busy." The professor had assumed.

"I would never needlessly endanger our guests." Griffin stated, as she appears to hold some confidence in the girls, much to the surprise of Zarathustra but didn't know the real reason for this.

"Then why divide them? You put each girl with her worst match." She asked to know during her time of learning much about them.

"It will either strengthen their bond, or destroy it. One way or another, they'll learn something." Griffin hopes they will learn and will one day face difficult challenges and decisions to make they will not like in the future.

Meanwhile, Lucy and Mirta were walking through the hallway together, while Mirta was remaining calm, she shot a few glances at her friend, Lucy, obviously still scared and can hardly blame her. "Lucy, are you alright?"

"Yeah, don't worry about me." Lucy assured her, not wanting to make her worry too much.

"In that case, let's keep moving."

"It's just that…"

Mirta turns around to hear what she was trying to say.

"If we do run into trouble, and you want to call the Winx for help, I won't get mad." The green haired teen, tells her with a soft smile,

"Sure, no problem." The ruby coin in Mirta's hand started to glow. Both looked to be alarmed and looked around for any sign of danger. COming out of the wall was Griffin, much to the surprise of the two teens.

"Lady Griffin." Lucy didn't expect to see her so soon.

"You've come to check on us, again?"

Mirta pondered, but couldn't help but feel something wasn't right as Griffin appeared strangely calm and said nothing until she casted off her form and turned into Darcy, causing the two to cry out in fear.

Back with Bloom and Tecna, they were looking at a diamond-shaped holographic projection from Tecna's device in hopes of locating the whereabouts of the Trix. Bloom wasn't sure how long this would take and was getting a little bored.

"This is taking forever."

Tecna was positive that it would work and needed patience. "When this is done the power of the ruby coin will be increased substantially."

"We'll be able to detect the Trix from a distance?" Bloom asked her.

"From anywhere in the tower." Bloom hands Tecna the ruby coin and Tecna places it on top of the hologram. "However, the ruby won't work at all until I finish the spell."

With this, it would make things easier for them to find out where the Trix are hiding. "Right, now we have no warning system?"

"Statistically speaking, it's unlikely the Trix will show up now." Tecna theorised, much to the concern for Bloom

"Great." She can only hope the others were having better luck.

Taking the route to the dining hall, Mal, Stella and Musa found the place empty, only they found any traces of the Trix so far and tried out the dining hall.

"Still no sign of them, maybe we must have missed them." Mal thought.

"If the Trix are on the move, we might miss them if we're on the move too." Stella believed.

"But of all the places in the school, why would they come here?" Musa didn't think they would come to this place with so much space.

"For a coffee break, you know? Listen girls, I really think we should stay here, okay?" Stella strongly suggest and walks over to the closest table with chairs. "And since I have the coin thingie, I'm in charge. Besides, there are comfy chairs here."

"A coffee break? Are you serious, Stella? Like they would be dumb enough to do that!" Mal thought her idea was ridiculous, unable to believe she was forced to pair up with Stella.

Musa took her side on the subject. "You've completely lost it. We're in the middle of a serious crisis, and all you want to do is sit there?"

As Stella sat down, the ruby coin she was given slipped out of her pocket, completely oblivious to any of the girls taking notice. "And your pacing and fretting is doing exactly what?" As they argued over who was right or wrong, the gem started to glow red. "My way of doing things is as good as anyone's." Stella took out her mirror to check her reflection.

"If I were to come here, I'd have many more ideas of how it goes than what you suggested." mal could see many advantages such as ambush or surprise attacks. It was one of the places they attacked the professors and students after getting the power of the Dragonflame.

"Mal's right, What if the Trix were to attack now?" Mal questioned Stella's logic.

"I'd be well-rested and ready to fight." Stella replied in a casual tone and focused more on her looks.

Musa crossed her arms and hugged. "Yeah, right. You probably wouldn't even notice."

"If she ever looks away from her mirror." Mal muttered under her breath, unable to compare Stella and Neil together, almost thinking they could be possibly related. Rather than stand around doing nothing, she decided to search the place. "Meanwhile, while you sit there looking pretty, I'll check out the dining hall."

"Sure, I'll stay here in case of trouble." Musa tells her while Musa heads off on her own.

Flora and Layla continued on with their search and found no sign of the Trix, Layla noticed Zing wasn't with them and looked for her. " Do you know where Zing went?"

Luckily, they didn't need to worry as Zing flew back towards them, dressed in the cosplay of a character Ellen Riply as she appeared alarmed. "They're coming out of the walls! They're coming out of the walls!"

They realized who Zing may be referring to, which alarmed the girls that the Trix were close by than they thought. "Oh no!" Flora gasped.

"They are?! Where?!" Layla asked her to be prepared as Zing flew towards Flora.

"Well, no, not yet. But I can't wait for them to try something. We'll show 'em right?" Zing told them.

While it was reassuring that the Trix weren't present, yet, it didn't mean they had to let their guard down. Flora thought if Layla had any ideas. "Layla, what do you think we should do now?"

"Well, aren't Mirta and Lucy supposed to be around here somewhere?" Layla recalled and thought they were where the other group should be in the section of the school.

Flora believed so as she last saw where they went. "Yeah, I think so."

"Let's get in touch with them. Maybe- maybe we could team up with them for a little while." It was perhaps a good idea to find out what they know and stay close.

Flora thought it would be better to go with her plan. "Umm, okay."

Layla walks over to a wall and uses the magical word the headmistress told them. "Exclamo Mirta!" An ear shaped hole appeared in the wall and spoke through it. "Mirta? Lucy? Can you hear me?!"

She received no reply from them, so Zing came over to try it herself. "Come in, Mirta."

Again, no response from the other side.

Flora began to worry. "Nothing."

"You think they might be gone?" Layla didn't want to think something bad happened to them, but maybe it would be better to investigate than do nothing.

Bloom continued to wait for anything Tecna found out with her spell, tapping her foot as she waits just to pass the time. She was starting to feel her patience wearing out until she heard the words from Tecna that she wanted to hear.

"I'm done."

Feeling relieved, Bloom turns to Tecna. "That's great news. Good work, girl!"

"I've got 'em, they're within range." Tecna was locking on to their exact coordinates to pinpoint.

"Can you be more precise?" Bloom asked her.

It didn't take long for Tecna to find them. "The Trix are in the cafeteria. They've cornered two fairies!"

Bloom gasped, fearing that their friends could be in danger. "Oh no! Exclamo Stella!"

Creating a hole with her magic, She runs over and talks into it, hoping they able able to respond. "Stella, Musa, respond please! Mal?" All they could hear were sounds of a fight from a distance, with the girls struggling as they were in trouble. "Girls! No!"

Scene: Dining Hall, Cloud Tower

The Dining Hall was a complete wreck, tables and chairs overturned or destroyed, and smoke from the battle filling the room. The Trix stood triumphant in defeating the fairies, who were trapped in the all, leaving only their heads, torsos and parts of their limbs exposed. They were completely caught off-guard by the Trix who took advantage of the fairies' argument

"I should have been an interior decorator." Darcy complimenting herself on her work.

"Something about this room says home." Stormy commented.

Icy didn't listen as she noted only two fairies and was certain there was a third one. "It's almost too easy. Where's Mal, I know she's hiding somewhere."

"Aw, were you worried about me?"

The ice witch gasped and saw a large gloved fist down upon them, forcing the trio to scatter as Togamon landed where they were.

"Urgh, sneaky little brat!" Icy growls and glares at the dark fairy, ascending from the shadows beside her Digimon.

"That's rich coming from you three." Mal shot back at her. Glancing at the two fairies. "Just hang on, I'll deal with them before getting you out."

"Don't keep promises you can't keep. Cause you're going to join them." Stormy remarked before shooting a powerful blast of lightning.

"Confuse!" Mal counteracted her attack, conjuring a spell that affected Stormy's senses, canceling her own attack

"Hope you enjoy the feel of needles." Togamon was ready for action. "Prickley Bang Bang!" Using her needles to shoot out, Icy quickly stepped in and froze them in a wall of ice before some of them could impale Stormy.

Mal swooped in and swiped her keyblade from the side. "Fire Strike!" Her keyblade was cloaked in flames and spun around to strike them, but her keyblade didn't even touch them as they were in fact illusions.

"Darkness Shroud!" Blasting a sphere of darkness at the cactus digimon from behind, causing Togamon to grunt and fall to the floor. Stormy helped out and blasted another lightning attack to make her fall, feeling the electricity surging through her until she collapsed, changing back to her rookie level with her strength depleted.

"Palmon!" Musa and Stella cried out, hoping she was okay.

Mal was ready to make them pay for doing that. Before she could finish them off with another attack, her body was encased in a block of ice, done so by Icy sneaking up on her.

"That should hold her for now." Icy figured it would work, trapping her in the wall would not have worked with her powers, but in a block of ice should do the trick. "It would be too easy to clean house when you're using Cloud Tower as a weapon.

Stormy gathers herself up from the battle. "Why stop here? We're on a roll, let's keep going." With her energy pumped up after taking on the fairies and Mal, she wanted to go further and do more carnage.

"Yeah!" Darcy exclaimed.

With no one to confront them for now, the Trix departed the room, leaving the girls they defeated behind.

"The Trix are gone." Musa thought it was now the time to try to break free and warn the others, and maybe check on Mal and Palmon on their injuries.

"Quick! Let's contact, Bloom. She'll get us out of this mess." Stella knew for sure Bloom would do something to stop them.

But Musa didn't think it was a good idea. "No way! If Bloom comes here to help us she'll walk straight into another Trix trap."

Much as Stella wanted to argue with Musa, she did bring up a good point. "Yeah, well, I don't wanna spend the day like this."

"We're gonna find a way out of this ourselves. We've got to!"

A sound of cracks caught their attention, turning towards the block of ice as large cracks and a purple glow illuminated around Mal's body until it shattered the ice and freed her. She was freed, but was shivering and collapsed to the floor.

"Mal! Are you alright?" Stella was relieved she was freed, but looked exhausted.

Mal panted after using her magic to free herself, looking up with strands of her haid cast down. "Yeah… as soon… as I recover… those Trix… are in for a world of ass kicking!" Soon as she was strong enough to cast a Cure on herself, she would free the fairies, heal her digimon and find the Trix.

"Layla, what are we gonna do about Mirta and Lucy?" Flora was worried for Mirta and her friend, but couldn't think of a way to help them without knowing where to find them or if they ran into the Trix.

The princess tries to think of an idea, but seems to be having a hard time to think in a situation. "We've got to meet up with Bloom right away."

"Umm, sure, I guess that's a good idea." Flora decided to go along with it, it would be better than no plan. She noticed the gemstone in her hand started to glow. "The coin!"

"What is it?" Layla asked her, seeing nothing happening while it was glowing.

"Oh, it's nothing, it must have been a false alert." Flora assumed.

"Anyway, let's try Griffin's spell." Layla uses the spell to call Bloom. "Exclamo Bloom! Bloom, we've lost touch with Mirta."

"Stella, Mal and Musa are missing too." Bloom replied.

Layla realised it was serious then they thought. If the others were taken out, the Trix may be on to them and taking each group one by one. "We've got to meet up!"

"Come to Griffin's classroom. We've found a way to track the Trix." Bloom instructed them before ending their communication.

"Umm, Bloom, speaking of which, pun intended, we have a little activity here." Tecna tried to light up the atmosphere after she locating Trix' next destination. She noticed Bloom looking unamused with her arms crossed and her eyes rolled

"What?" She asked but got the message. "Okay, I get it, it's not funny."

But as she continued to find them, the two heard the sound of screaming coming from the hallways, bursting into the room were the witch students; Endora and Shilly who looked terrified and scared looking scared as if they were chased by something..

"What happened?" Bloom asked them,

Endora responded to her question. "It's the Trix, you've got to help us!"

"But what happened to the others?" Tecna inquired.

"They've all been captured." Shilly exclaimed after witnessing their friends taken before their eyes. "They're trapped in the walls of Cloud Tower."

"They caught us by surprise." Bloom says..

Tecna believes the Trix may have caught on to their plans. It had to explain how they were taking out the others so easily. "The Trix have changed their tactics. First, they'll delete us…"

"... then they'll seize the codex without having to fight us all at once." Bloom proclaimed.

"What do you mean by "codex"?" The pony tail witch didn't know what they were talking about, but her friend didn't think it mattered.

"Never mind that, what do you mean by 'delete us'?!"

Tecna realised her mistake by saying the word they were not supposed to share with others but "Uh, Forget you've heard either of those words."

"I knew it, we shouldn't have relied on your technical charm. It gave them all the time they needed." Bloom blames Tecna when she believed they could have done more by searching for them instead of sitting around.

"Hey! It was your idea, remember?" Tecna shot back at her with a glare.

Not wanting to waste time arguing, they had to stop the Trix fast. "Is there any way we can rescue everyone?" Bloom asked for any ideas. But perhaps make sure they were safe. "Don't you worry now, we're all safe here. We can keep an eye on the Trix with Tecna's charm.

"What charm?" Endora asked.

Bloom gasped and completely forgot about it. "Tecna!"

"The monitor." Tecna rushed back to check on the hologram and gasps in horror.

"What is it?" Bloom didn't like the sound of that. And neither is what she will find out next.

"Forget your toys, try using your eyes." The girls gasped as they heard Icy's voice.

"Yeah, try using your eyes!" Next came Stormy's as the Trix appeared from the walls.*

"Come on now. Give up!" Icy proclaimed, causing the remaining two witch students to run from the room then to be caught like the others. Leaving by Bloom and Tecna. "You don't stand a chance."

"We're aware of the odds, thank you." Tecna boldly stated.

Neither was Bloom who was ready for another round with the Trix. "But still, I'm gonna bet on the power of the Winx."

"You ready, Bloom?" Tecna asked her.

Bloom nodded to her. "Transform Magic Winx!"

Transforming into the Magic Winx forms, they were ready to fight them, held out their medallions to summon their Titans.

"Come out, Springer!"

"Join us, Sorceral!"

Both their Titans came forth on their summoners' command and stood beside them. But did not seem to make the Trix concern of their numbers, but had other means of dealing with them with the tower at their command.

Flora, Layla, and Zing wasted no time running along through the hallway to reach Bloom and Tecna, they soon hear noises close by, recognising the explosion as means of a fight has broken out.

Layla knew it had to be them without a doubt. "Well, Flora, it sure sounds like trouble up ahead."

"You don't think the Trix have found Bloom and Tecna, do you?" Flora grew concerned for their friends if they were in trouble.

But Layla didn't think so. "No, Bloom has a ruby coin. She'd know if anyone was going to crash their party."

Another explosion echoed through the hallways, this time much bigger.

"What was that?!" Layla exclaimed and almost jumped in fright.

"I'm worried." Flora said.

"Yeah, we oughta go check it out." Layla knew they had no time to stand by.

Flora was not so sure about this as she was scared. "I doubt I could be much help.

"Well... I'll go." Layla decided to go and help them. Glancing over her shoulder to Flora to be sure if she was going to stay behind. "You sure you're not coming?"

Flora was hesitant to go, but Zing goes after Layla to join her

"I'm coming, Bloom! I'm coming and help's coming with me!" Zing proclaimed.

Flora followed after her. "Zing."

"What are we doing? Zing is right." Layla wondered why they were hesitating and scared when they fought the Trix many times. They shouldn't be cowering in fear when they came to protect the codex from the Trix.

Flora realized she was right as their friends were in danger, she shouldn't be thinking of herself above their wellbeing when they need help. "Yes, we have to help Bloom." And goes off with them to help the others.

The battle raged on, Bloom was holding out alongside her Titan and did a better job than they did the last time. Glancing over to Tecna who was holding her leg which appears to be bruised and worried for her. "Tecna, how's your leg?"

"Don't worry about me, just go, I'll back you up." Appreciating her concern, but needed to focus on the Trix. Springer was absent as she thought his abilities were better used dealing with the traps set up by the Trix, allowing him to scurry off while they were in a battle. Using her magic on Bloom for defence

"All three of us against Bloom? This is getting old." Stormy remarked, but not wanting to ignore her Titan which was tough and stronger than they thought.

"She's all yours if you want." Icy decided to let her have some fun, but doubt Stormy could handle it.

Darcy agreed with her. "We'll be rooting for you."

"Okay, that'll be fun." Stormy obliged.

"Oh yeah? Heat Wave!" Bloom blasts her with her fire magic along with Sorcerals, forcing them to scatter but takes a hit on Darcy who didn't see the attack coming.

Stormy made her move to attack. "Gloomix Perfect Storm!" Fires a powerful bolt of lightning atBloom, overpowering the redhead and throwing her to the ground. "How do you like your Winx, girls? Deep fried or extra crispy?"

"Now to trap them like the others

Bloom realized they were outmatched and needed to gain better ground. Her Titan knelt down and picked her up, much to her appreciation of the help. "Tecna, run!" The fairies fly out of the classroom with the Trix right behind them. "Maybe we can hook up with the others."

"Their propulsion has a greater torque ratio." Tecna warned her, however, Bloom didn't understand what she meant.

"English, Tecna."

"They're faster than we are." Tecna pointed out.

"That's right, Bloom. This time we will finish what we started." Icy proclaimed and continued to chase after them. However, they had to deal with Bloom's Titan who was not weakened at the moment but continued to fire magical orbs at them in an attempt to slow them down for the girls to gain distance.

As the fairies Bloom hears Griffin's voice speaking to her telepathically. "Bloom keep clear of them just a little longer."

"I'm trying." Bloom responded to the headmistress and do what they can.

"Perfect Storm!"

Tecna saw her attack coming and no where to hide. "There's no room to dodge the attack." Out of nowhere, Springer leaps out of a wall and jumped to her arms. "Springer?" Wondering if he did as she requested, but did not yet asked as Stormy was about to unleash her attack.

Stormy fires at Bloom and Tecna with her magic. However, a wall shot out from the ground after the fairies flew over it and took the blow for them.

"What is this?" Icy did not expect this to happen as she didn't give command of a wall to be there.

Darcy felt something was wrong. "We've gotta stop."

But then two more walls appeared around them, the Trix found themselves surrounded and trapped. They tried to bring the walls down but found out they no longer have any control over the tower.

The one person they knew could do this.

"Griffin!" Icy growls before another wall seals their path and traps them inside.

Flora, Layla, and Zing rushed inside the classroom that Bloom and Tecna were in, but found no one and only burning debris from the battle remained.

"They're gone." Flora stated and no idea where their friends were or if anything happened to them.

Layla felt like it was her fault they didn't come to their friends' help sooner and feared for the worst. "If we'd kicked into gear sooner, we wouldn't be too late."

"Relax guys, we're okay."

Bloom and Tecna walked in the room to see them not hurt.

"Griffin regained control of the tower at the last minute." Tecna tells them. "Luckily Springer helped her, another moment later and we be goners."

Bloom nodded with the Trix trapped for now and can resume their search for the codex. "It's over."

Stormy tries to use her magic to break down the walls, but nothing has done to make a dent in it.

Icy was becoming more and more frustrated. "Nothing's happening. Griffin! She's gonna pay for this.

"She must have a spell we don't." Darcy speculated, with the tower no longer under their control, they were in a disadvantage. "We'll never control the tower now."

"It's always about control with you. Whatever happened to good old-fashioned chaos?" Stormy complained, little did she realise that Icy had an idea thanks to her.

"Stormy's right. If we can't control the tower, no one will." Deciding to use their trump card to take care of the problem.

Stella and Musa were free from the wall thanks to Mal their friends came over to check on them. Mal was fully recovered and healed her Digimon partner just as Griffin came by to find them.

"I'm gonna guess that you got control of the tower back, Lady Griffin?" Mal obviously guessed as the headmistress seems fully recovered.

Griffin nodded to confirm her question. "Yes I am. I'm going to free the witches. You girls better stick together."

The Winx Club and Mal took her advice then repeat the same mistakes like before. Approaching a pair of doors, Bloom tries to open them but the door disappearrf before she could could even move the doorknob.

"Now what? I could have sworn there was a door here this morning." Bloom let go of the knob

"Maybe I can try it out with my keyblade." Mal suggested but something caught her attention and looked up. "Uh, Bloom?"

"Is that your door?" Layla points up to the door that has appeared higher up on the wall. It disappears and reappears at another spot on the wall. It disappears and reappears over and over.

"What's happening?" Stella was baffled of what she was seeing.

"The tower's going nuts."

"Okay, I can tell this is not normal." Mal stated as she was shocked as the others. Suddenly, she felt the ground shake beneath her feet. "Now what?"

"Guys, we've gotta get out of here." Bloom tells them, but the floor begins to crack beneath them and they fall through the floor before any of them could do anything. Zing flies down to chase after them.

As chaos was occurring throughout the school, it started to move and twist itself around in all directions, the Trix were able to escape from their prison just before they were trapped inside like the others.

Icy sighed in relief to be out of there. "Great, we made it out."

"Griffin is powerless now, but how are we gonna find the codex?" Darcy knew they can't leave without it.

Icy tried to think of an idea, when she noticed something from the tower. Something she believes could be the answer. "That's easy."

Even Stormy noticed it as the tower shifts, all except the spire which remained unchanged. "Why didn't our Gloomix affect that spire? It's gotta be the codex."

"Well, let's go find out." Icy flew off with the two following after her.

They may have found the actual location of the second codex fragment.

The Winx, Mal and Zing fly were fortunate to escape their potential doom after falling into the crack, but now had to deal with the problems of the tower going crazy and out of control.

"So much for the easy way." Mal muttered

Bloom needed her friends to remain close and avoid any collapsing debris that were falling upon them. "Stay together, come on!

Walls start to appear around them, blocking their way.

Stella yelped as she evaded the walls. Sighs in relief to be in one piece. "Oh, that was close.

"Ideas anyone?" Bloom suggested, trying to bypass the surrounding walls before they could close in on her.

"Well, the teacher said the spires were like branches." Flora remembered about the school being somewhat alive.

"And trees grow their fruit way up high to keep them from predators." Tecna had the idea as well as Flora.

Stella, however, was clueless. "I have no clue what you're talking about."

Bloom tells them what she found out about the school. "The codex is the fruit, the Trix must know where it is. We'd better hurry!"

"No need to tell me twice!" Mal used her spell to increase her wings' propulsion to keep up with the fairies, hoping to get there in time and not be crushed by the school.

The Trix approach the highest spire of Cloud Tower, now knowing exactly where their prize is and about to claim it. Hard to believe it was right under their noses the whole time and was very clever as well.

"It's like someone left a nice present, just for us." Stormy commented with a grin.

"What are we waiting for? Let's open it." Icy then blasts open the tower with her magic, using the full force to destroy a section of the wall. Inside a pixie with raven black hair, bright green eyes with pale skin tone and dark make up. She appears to wear a black and purple dress, a necklace with a green gem on it, on her head was a tiara with bat-like wings and a red gem in the middle. Her wings were purple with blue outlines looking similar to a spider's web.

She was possibly the guardian pixie of the Cloud Tower's codex.

"Who dares stand in our way?" Stormy questioned.

"I am Discorda, Pixie of Cloud Tower. Go away, riff raff!" The guardian pixie naemd Discordia demanded their departure.

"Wait! Leave that pixie alone."

THe Trix were startled and yet frustrated so much to hear Bloom's voice, obviously they found a way out and found them.

"Guys, the Trix are still too strong for us. We'll have to use convergence magic." Bloom knew it was important to stop them.

"All of us?" Stella thought if she heard her correctly.

"Stella, there really is no time to debate this, okay?"

"I'll help as well." Mal knew she doesn't have the same type of magic they have but is willing to lend a helping hand.

Bloom nodded to appreciate her support. "Go Winx!" Bloom channels her magic as the others soon join in.

Icy knew they cannot afford to let the Winx win with their combined powers. No way, we cannot allow them to finish that spell.

"And I cannot allow you to mess with them." Discorda took flight to confront the Trix with her magic. It was strong enough to engulf them in a bright light to blind them.

Darcy grunted and was unable to see. "What's going on?"

It was enough for the Winx to be at their full power to face them

"Ready?" Layla asked

"Okay, let's blast those three right off the tower." Musa declared.

"Let's make them prisoners." Bloom proclaimed.

"Maybe one of us should stay on defence." Tecna suggested.

"No problem." Mal volunteers, by the state of the school they had little time to spare. "Now would be a good time, girls!"

"This is it, guys. It's now or never. Come on, converge!" Bloom uses her powers to work with the others.

The Winx Club then pour in all their their magic into one sphere of energy.

Icy didn't seem too concerned. "There's no way fairy magic can hurt us."

However, Darcy did not seem to agree with her. "I don't know, that spell looks pretty Mal's with them if you forgot."

Mal was in a position to take them on, but felt something was off and noticed the girls having trouble. They were clearly having trouble keeping the sphere together, before she could do anything, something caught her attention and saw several black purple tendrils flying towards them, moving at an incredible speed. "Look out!" She tries to warn them but was too late when one of the tendrils clashed with their attack, it created an explosion that sent the girls falling through the air.

"Guys!" Mal cried out, then something manifested before her and appeared to be a shadowy figure with wings… or somewhat close as they were and appeared metallic and claw-like. She swiftly pulled out her keyblade to black the sharpe bladed wings intended to impale her, but the full force of this stranger's strength was unbelievable and sent her straight down to the ground in an impact.

Her unknown attacker left the moment she was down, before anyone knew what happened.

"No!" Discordia was in dismay that the fairies had failed, and someone had attacked the keybearer

Uncertain to what just happened, just when the Winx were about to win, they were defeated in a blink of an eye. The Trix found their foes taken out and obviously defeated once again. Leaving the Codex wide open for them. Stormy takes this moment to attack Discorda with her lightning magic and knock her out.

Icy enters the tower and returns with the piece of the codex in her grasp. "And the Trix rule again!"

With their mission a success, the Trix made their leave and vanished.

With the second codex lost, the Winx had no reason to stay in Cloud Tower and made their journey back to Alfea to share the bad news. Griffin watches from afar, along with her fellow professors as she felt it was partly her fault for failing to protect the school and her students from the Trix.

"The Winx have lost, they're walking away."

"They're lucky to be able to walk at all after that convergence spell backfired." Ediltrude commented and had to admit they did put some effort in facing the Trix.

"Yes, but now Darkar is more powerful than ever." Griffin stated and fear his power growing.

"It's a sad day for all who live." Zarathustra said.

The headmistress still felt disturbed from what Mal told her, about something that attacked the Winx when they were at their moment of hesitation, she first assumed it was Kefka, but clearly wasn't his type of magic and knew it couldn't have been Darkar.

Meaning one thing.

Someone else was working with the enemy and possibly new foes to confront.

Surprise! another chapter and hope you liked it! I did much more focus on this so hopefully do again this time for when they will search for the last two artefacts, I have certain ideas in mind and also for Dark Bloom which... will have some twists after some ideas were given. No spoilers, sorry.

And also introduced some elements from FF, so be on the look out. reviews are welcome and constructed feedback are welcome.
