My pov

After I choose dauntless， abnegation erupts into chaos . They are pointing their fingers at me . I lower my head . I am scared because I don't want them to condemn me anymore .

"Delia it's okay. You are with dauntless now ." A girl grabs my hand."'my name is Marlene and this is my best friend Shauna ."

"Hey， I am Delia ." I smile at her .

She is kind and friendly. I should feel lucky that I have someone to make friends with me now .

"We know you." Shauna nods at us." The prettiest girl among five factions . You are already very famous"

"I am not." I shake my head.

"Be more confident Delia." Shauna says

Jeanine Matthew waits until everyone are quiet.

"Abby matthew."

Abby is her niece and she is pretty confident that she will stay at least for her

Abby walks toward the stage and grabs the knife from her . She looks coldly at her auntie and walks toward the centre of the room. She cuts her palm opens and then splash her blood out. She tilts her head and looks at dauntless bowl

She slowly shifts her hand toward dauntless bowl and then I hear the blood drops on the sizzling coals.

"Dauntless." Jeanine Matthew is shocked

She can't believe that her niece will leave erudite and that is a shame on her face . Abby's parent stand up and look at my direction.

"It is all because of Delia ." Abby's father screams

"It's my choice dad ." Abby walks toward me and sits me down." Don't look at them."

I sigh a little. I know that they think because of me that Abby chose to leave .

"James tucker."

James tucker is from dauntless. He stands up slowly and walks toward the stage . He is plastic pale . Maybe not all dauntless are that brave and fearless. I remembered that tori said that she was scared of dark so that's mean dauntless also aren't fearless . They just know how to hide their fears better than any other factions members.

Then he falls on the ground . All dauntless erupts into laughter . Dignity is very important for dauntless and now his dignity is destroyed by his friends .

"Are you okay ?" I help him up.

"I am fine ." He pushes my hand away." I don't need help from a stiff."

"I am not a stiff" I argue." I just try to be nice ."

He walks on the stage and takes the knife . He ignores jeanine's smile and walks toward the centre of the room.

Alan Davis's pov

I stand above the chasm. One more people just dead . Ted stands beside me . The people who dead was his instructor and his boss . He appointed him to be the body guard for Delia .

"Do you know how did he dead?" Ted asks me

"I don't really know Ted ." I shake my head." They told me that he jumped off the chasm himself."

"I don't believe that he was so hopeless. He told me to live happily ." Ted lowers his head

"If you think that he dead for other reasons， then I will find out ." Alan looks at ted." How do you feel about that girl?"

I know that girl was the girl who hit me on the bus

"I love her Alan . I never love any girls like that. Please don't take her away from me ." Ted grabs my arm

"I will not . I don't really care about her ." I shrug." I don't like any stiff."

Sam walks toward us . He is smiling at us

"Delia， that girl who is the prettiest girl among five factions chose us and Abby. Max will be happy ." Sam taps on the screen in his hand

"Why max will be happy! Max likes Abby ?" I frown.

"Yeah she is jeanine's niece and max falls for her since they first time met." Sam sighs.

I sigh. It is time for Sam to go welcome the new initiates and I have to be ready for the fear landscape test.

"Ted go welcome the new members." I pat on his back

I walk away. Max meets me upstair . He folds his arms

"Did Abby?" Max asks me

"Yes she did choose dauntless . Max however she and Amar met also . Abby had a boyfriend before ." I explain." It's hard for you to get to her"

"Don't worry. I will eventually get to her ." Max raises his eye brows. Go get ready"

I nod at him. If ted's instructor didn't die with suicide， then there will be only one reason that he is divergent. Max was working with erudite to rid of the divergent in this world .

I open the screen in my pocket. Delia's result is verbally reported and Abby is same as well. Which means that both of them can be divergent . I tap the button delete beside Delia's name .

If max really likes Abby， then he will not hurt her . I walk toward the glass building room and open the light. Today I will be running the test

My pov

I sit on the train. One of the boy from erudite just fail the initiation because he didn't made it onto the train. I understand that every second there will be people who fail the initiation.

"Are you okay ?" Abby grabs my hand

"I am just tired ." I shake my head." I am fine."

"That is normal." A girl whose name is Jessica shrugs." My brother said that dauntless are the most dangerous factions in the world."

Jessica is from Candor . She is pretty. Hana walks toward us . She is the ambassador for dauntless.

"It is soon that we will arrive in the dauntless compound. So be ready to leap off a running train." Hana smirks." If you can't， then you fail."

I lean against the wall. Around 20minute， we hear people are screaming and leaping. I look outside that dauntless are jumping onto a roof

"I think that we are at our destination." I stand up.

I am waiting for the platform to approach. I am nervous . I grab the handle to steady myself . When it is in front of me ， I jump.

I landed on my both feet. I sigh with relief . I made it finally. Then Abby made it too. He falls with her face . I help her up.

"Good job." I smile at her

"You did better." Abby says

"It is just by luck." I say

Elizabeth and Elisa land both on their feet.

"Listen up . My name is Sam. I am one of your lieutenant of dauntless . Here is the entrance to the dauntless headquarter . If you can't master to jump off the ceiling ， then you don't belong to dauntless." Sam smirks." All the initiates have the privilege to jump first."

"Is there water or something down the button?" William asks

"Who knows? You may find out or not." Sam shrugs

I look around . People are looking everywhere but Sam.

"Me." I raise my hand

I am proud but I know that will be a mistake . Sam leaves a space for me . I stand on the ledge . I look down. It is a black hole beneath it

"Today initiate." Sam says

I can't back down now . Especially all those people who wished me to fail. I exhale and inhale deeper . I jump. I am falling . I don't want to die ! I don't want to die .

I hit on a big wall finally and I sigh with relief . Someone grabs my hand and drags me down. Ted!

"What's your name ." Ted looks at me

"Delia." I smile at him

Alan Davis 's pov

I stand outside of the glass building. I heard the first jumpers name is Delia. She is from abnegation but obviously she is brave . I was the second one to jump when it was my turn.

"She is braver than you clearly." Amar stands beside me

"Yeah , I wander what kind of girl she is." I am curious

"You promise ted that you will not take her away from him" Amar pats my back

I don't know will I keep my promise or not. I hear their footstep closer and closer . Ted opens the door and Delia is the first one to enter .

"So my name is Ted . I was a body guard before but this year I volunteer to be your instructor." Ted nods at me and Amar

After a few minute, I am ready to introduce myself

"My name is Alan Davis . I am one of the leader and lieutenant of dauntless. I will watch the training with Amar who is another patrol leader this year ." I clap my hand." Before we are going to dinner . Then we are going to do something different."

"What is it !" Delia looks up at me ."em ."

She is shocked . I walk up to her . She lowers her head .

"We are going to see your fear landscape in order to know you better ." I brush her hair gently.

Clearly she is blushing. A girl who stands beside her asks

"How is that possible ."

I take out the serum. It is a needle which has a orange liquid into it.

"This syringe contains a transmitter . The transmitter is going to send your fear into the computer ." I explain." Who want to try. Shall we go with the order of who jump first? Ms prior ?"

Delia shivers . She follows me into the room. I close the room behind her

"Your legs aren't broken anymore?" She asks

"Yeah, why don't you come near me ." I open a new box .

"I am sorry for my attitude " Delia walks toward me .

I don't say anything. I brush her hair to the side and inject her

"Two ways of coming out. You either slow down your heart beat or directly faced your fears" I raise my eye brows

"Okay." She sits down

I press the button and she is gone . I attach the electrode to my head and watch her fears. Her first fear include ted . I feel a electric shock. Why she is afraid of her . Very soon, I feel that she is afraid of something else related with him .
