This is an unpopular series from the 80's by Colleen O'Shaughnessey McKenna. The Collette Murphy series.

But it's a side series, dealing with two main characters. Marsha Cessano and Roger Friday; Known Childhood Enemies.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it! It's a short story.

Disclaimer: I don't own it, it goes to the original writer (as seen above)

Marsha Cessano's heart began to pound in her chest, as she saw the boy she's had a crush for two months. Roger Friday, who'd have thought.

Not Marsha, that's who. His deep blue eyes make her stomach. "Hey, earth to Marsha." Marsha's friend, Collette Murphy snapped her fingers in front of her face.

"Wha? Huh?" She appeared to be in a daze.

"You've been staring into space for the last few minutes." Collette grinned at her friend. "Or should I say that you've been staring at Roger?"

"I have not." Marsha blushed.

"You have too." Her other friend, Sarah Messland laughed. She reached into her pocket she pulled out her pink Blackberry phone and started texting someone.

"What are you doing?" Marsha questioned, suddenly becoming very confused and nervous.

Sarah stuck her phone back into her pocket and giggled. "I texted Roger and told him that you like him." Sarah began to full on cackle.

Marsha's eyes widened. "No! You didn't!" She cried.

"She did." Collette confirmed. She then tilted her head towards the fountain roger had been standing in front of earlier. "Look."

Marsha turned her head and saw Roger staring at her. "Sarah, I can't believe you." She grumbled. "I'm leaving so that way I can avoid seeing Roger."

With that, she got up and ran out of the mall. She ran as quickly as she could to the bike rack and began to search for her key. Then she heard someone clearing their throat behind her. She turned around to see Roger standing there, with a look on his face that Marsha couldn't quite read. "What do you want, Roger Friday?"

"Um, to ask you what Sarah meant by 'Marsha likes you, hehehe.'" He questioned.

"Um, it was a joke?" She said, but she couldn't even believe herself.

"I don't think it was." Roger smirked. "Otherwise, when you found out that Sarah sent me that, you wouldn't have ran out the way you did."

Marsha could tell she was beginning to blush. Then she noticed that Roger was starting to lean in towards her. She took a step back. "Roger, uh, what are you doing?" She questioned him.

"Well, I was going to kiss you, but you obviously don't want me to, so I'll back off." He turned a bright shade of red.

"No, I was just shocked." She reassured him. "So, what? You like me, Roger?"

He grinned. "I thought I was being really obvious about it. Guess not." He chuckled sheepishly. "I've liked you ever since we did and redid that school project back in the sixth grade."

"That was two years ago, Roger!" She cried incredulously, really shocked. "We're 13 now and in the eighth grade."

"I know, know." Roger laughed. Then he got a serious look on his and he took a big step towards her. "So, what do you say?"

"Say to what?" Marsha asked, confused.

"What do you say to being my girlfriend, huh, Marsha?" Roger asked, grinning.

"What? I thought you hated me." She giggled.

"Nah, we were just frenemies." he said.

"So, what are we now?" Marsha asked.

"Girlfriend and boyfriend, I guess. That is if you want to." He said.

"Yeah, I really do want to." She giggled. Then he took another big step towards her. "Roger, if you want to kiss me, just go ahead and do it."

He let out a sigh of relief as he pressed his lips on hers. Marsha put her arms around his neck and he put his arms around her waist.

They stayed like that for several minutes then they heard someone clearing their throats behind them. They broke apart at found themselves staring at Sarah and Colette. "Wow. I mean, just wow." Sarah grinned at them.

Marsha felt her cheeks turning red. She stole a glimpse at Roger, who was also blushing, but he had a huge smile plastered across his face. "So, uh, when did this happen?" Collette asked, grinning at them.

"Just now." Marsha said.

"Well, we'll leave you guys alone." Collette said. "You're still coming to my house tonight, right?"

"You bet I am." Marsha reassured one of her very best friends.

"Ok, see you then." Collette said, and she and Sarah grabbed their bikes and rode off.

"So, do you want to go get some ice cream, Marsha?" Roger asked, as he reached for her hand.

"Sure." Marsha said, following him into the Baskin-Robbins on the outside area of the mall.

"What kind of ice cream do you want, Marsha?" He asked, as he pulled out a chair for her.

"Um, Oreo cheesecake. If they have it, that is."

"Sure, no problem." He walked up to the counter, ordered their ice cream, paid for them both, and then brought them back to the table. "Here you go, Marsha."

"Thanks, Rog." Marsha said, as she took it out of his hand. "So, what'd you get?"

"Well, Sugarlips, I got the same as you did because I like your taste in ice cream." He grinned at her.

She rolled her eyes, but she grinned back at him, just as happy as a clam.

Marsha arrived at Collette's house, in no less than ten minutes. As soon as she got there, she stuck her bike behind the shed and then went to go ring the doorbell. But before she got to Collette's house, she had to make a quick pit stop at her own house to get her stuff for the sleepover.

She heard loud footsteps thundering up to the door and the door swung open to reveal, Laura, Collette's little sister. "Hey, Laura. Are Collette and Sarah waiting for me upstairs?"

"Yeah, they said you can head on up. They've been waiting on you for a while."

"I bet they have." She muttered under her breath as she ran up to Collette's bedroom. As soon as she walked in, all she could see was Sarah and Collette staring at her, just grinning away. "Hey, you guys. What's up?"

Collette jumped up from her bed and pounced on her. "What's up? What's up? You just kissed Roger Friday, that's what's up." She giggled. "What was it like though?"

"What was what like?"

"You know," Collette blushed. "Your first kiss. How did it feel when he kissed you? What was on your mind?"

"Well, it was sweet and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I've never felt like that about someone, least of all Roger Friday." She smiled warmly.

"Yeah, I know, right? I didn't expect you guys to ever date, like at all." Sarah said.

"Oh really? How are things going between you and John? Oh, and, Collette, do you think Tommy will be at camp this year?"

Both Sarah and Collette blushed. But Collette threw a pillow at Marsha. "Shut up! I don't even know what he looks like now. I haven't seen him for forever."

Marsha frowned at her. "We saw him last summer at camp. It's only been a year and camp is next month, so I hope you're ready to see him again."

"Don't remind me." Collette put her face in her hands. "I just hope Peally isn't coming this year. She was horrible the first year of camp, I don't want to go through that again."

"She didn't come last year, did she?" Sarah asked, as she pulled out her toothbrush and toothpaste.

"No, but I'm pretty sure Amber said she was coming back this year. I'm still holding out for hope that she doesn't."

Suddenly, Marsha started to grin. "Well, even if she does, let's not go snooping around her cabin, just to get poison ivy again." She laughed. "And, Collette, who knows? This year at camp might be the first time you'll get a first kiss."

This made Collette blush and Sarah and Marsha laugh. Then they spent the rest of the night, watching movies and playing Life, the board game of course!
