My pov
I wake up screaming because I just killed three men who just killed ted in my fear landscape . I don't understand why Ted will be in my fear landscape . I never scared of him and I treat him like my elder brother .
Alan Davis takes off the electrode from his head and walks toward me . He holds me up .
"Are you scared little girl?" Alan smirks." Not too hard to imagine that."
"I am just confused ." I wrap my arms around his neck. " why someone that I never scared for in my life but appeared in my fear ." I shiver
He brings me out of the room. Ted comes up toward us
"Delia , are you alright?" He looks worried
"Ted I don't want to see you now.Can you leave me alone please?" I close my eyes
"Ted , she is scared and now I will bring her to rest." Alan says coldly." Please excuse us."
He brings me away. I open my eyes and look at Alan.
"Thank you mr Davis ." I nod at him
He brings me into his office . He puts me on the couch
"Delia , one thing that I can be sure that you aren't a horrible person. I am a more horrible person than you can expect. You just care about ted and you were angry that someone killed the person who you care ." Alan sits on his own chair." I never care about anyone or anyone care about me that much."
"Why?" I blink my eyes
"My childhood was horrible but I can't tell you now ."Alan brushes my hair .
I have to respect him. Maybe there is something that hurt him.
"I will bring you to the dorm right now . It is almost dinner time ." Alan stands up." Let's go."
I follow him out of the office . He brings me to a big door . When he pushes open, I can see ten beds in there but we only have 9.
"So those of you who don't know me . I am Alan Davis , I am your leader of dauntless. I will watch your training alongside with other leader whose name is Amar ." Alan looks at me." You will stay in the dorm until the initiation finished."
"Thank you." I nod at him.
He feels warm . He is much more different than the one who I knew on the bus . He leaves the dorm and I walk to an empty bed .
It is between Elizabeth and Elisa . Abby sleeps under my feet.
"Change the cloth now and after ten minute , ted will pick us up." Elizabeth mentions." Where is Abby? She just left."
"I don't know ." I shake my head
I very quickly changed into my uniform and braided my hair up into a knot.
Alan Davis pov
I leave the dorm. Delia is pretty and kind . I know that I promised to ted that I will never take her away but I can't hundred percent sure now .
I was angry with how she was against me on the bus but when she apologized to me , everything disappears .
"Alan." Someone is calling me
I turn around and see max is coming up to me
"Yes sir ." I say
"I found no record for Delia's test. It only showed that she is abnegation but she chose us." Max raises his eye brows
"I didn't see her as well. Maybe it is a system fault ." I look at him
I can't look away because max can be suspicious . However because I was Candor so max believed every word that I said .
"Okay, maybe I will ask Jeanine to fix it. However I found problem with Abby's test. Her result was verbally reported . Most of that case , she is divergent. For her case , if I didn't give you any conman, don't touch her ." Max warns me.
"Yes sir . I will not do anything about that." I nod at him
Max leaves and I sigh with relief . I walk toward the cafeteria . Ted is leaning against the wall
"Alan what happened with Delia's result with max?" Ted is curious
"Nothing, I fix it already." I shake my head
"Why you deleted her result? You were protecting her . Are you in sure that you don't have feeling for her?" Ted grabs my arms
Ted was erudite and he can't detect the lie
"No ted . She just looked like my sister Sasha . I protect her just as I protect Sasha ." I lower my head." I just miss my sister ."
"I am sorry Alan. I am being rude." Ted let go of my arm
He leaves and I enter the cafeteria . I walk to upstair to sit with other leaders
"Hey Sam ." I sit down beside Sam." Are you okay?"
"Yeah I am fine . I am thinking about something" Sam startled by me
"Thinking about your instructor? I will find out the reason why he was dead." I make myself a hamburger
Sam and ted were both in the same class before . He is just one years younger than I am.
"Thank you Alan . I think that ted was too selfish ."
My pov
We follow ted to go eat dinner . We threw our old clothes into the fire pit. I watched it burn and I know that is the last time i will see it. We pile into the cafeteria and there are only two tables left for us .
I find a seat between Abby and a unknown man.
"Hey I am Amar . I am one of the leader who will watch your training. ." Amar takes out his hand
"I am Delia . This is my friend Abby." I shake his hand." Why don't you sit upstair?"
"I am just a leader for patrol team so I can't sit with them." Amar laughs." I don't want to be one of them."
I tilt my head . Abby is staring at Amar . I look at the plate in front of me . It is one plate of breads, one plate of sauce and one plate for meats .
"What are them?" I ask
"You can make a hamburger out of it. You put the vegetable , sauces and the meats between two breads." Amar shows me ." Like this."
"You never have a hamburger before?" Elisa was shocked
I shake my head . I saw one but just never eat one before
"In abnegation, it would be self indulgence ." I explain
"No wander why you left." Candy laughs
"Yeah it's just because of the food." I roll my eyes
Amar coughs a little . We all look at him .
"I don't want to hear you guys talk about your old factions anymore . " Amar is angry." You are dauntless now ."
A soldier comes to Amar and chat with him for a bit. Amar stands up and moves his plate away.
"Something is going to happen." Jason says quietly.
"What?" I look around.
"I don't know but something is coming for sure ." William says confidently.
Now members hit their cup on the table .
"Initiate stands up." I hear voice shoves us
We stand up and look up at who was it. Max is talking . He is the mafia boss of dauntless .
"You have chosen a warrior faction . Your duty is to protect the citizens of the city. We believe in the ordinary act of bravery . In the courage to protect those people who can't stand up for themselves ." Max announces ." Respect that and do us proud ."
We start clapping and laughing . Abby comes back very soon
"Hey Delia ." She pats my back ." No where to be seated." Abby looks around .
"You can sit between me ." I point at the empty seat
Alan Davis pov
I finished my dinner . I am waiting for max to start the meeting. I know what the meeting is about. He is working with erudite to kill divergent
"Alan, I want you to find out all divergent and reported to me ." Max looks at me." Don't do anything yet."
"Sure max." I nod at him." I will not do anything unless you told me to do so ."
"You are my good friends." Max pats me on my back
Max stands up. He stops at the door way.
"Linda likes you." Max says
Linda is Jeanine Matthew 's daughter . She is a year away from choosing a faction.
"I don't like her anyway." I shrug
"I know but she doesn't let it go." Max sighs." Maybe give her a chance."
"I am not ." I say." I already have someone in my heart."
Max looks at me shockingly. I know that it is surprised enough for him to know it.
"Who is she?" Max giggles
"It is a secret." I say
I don't have anyone in my heart. It is just an excuse for it.
"Okay, if you get her , bring her to me ." Max blinks at me .
"Sure sir ." I nod at him.
"Don't be someone from there ." Max points downstair." Unless they made it."
He leaves the cafeteria . I follow him afterward .
"Alan, please don't tell Delia on max ." Ted is begging
"You know the reason why I deleted her result Ted ." I push his hand away." Or I don't even need to do that"
I walk away from the cafeteria . I walk toward the chasm
"Mr Davis ." Delia is standing over there." How are you doing?"
"I am fine ." I feel exhausted
"You look sick." She makes a ghost face at me
I pinch her cheek. She giggles . She is very cute .
"Be careful Delia, don't be too happy sometime ." I warn her.
"What makes you so worry?" She grabs my arm
Her hand is warm and steady. She is the first person who get so close with me .
"Nothing, it is a big secret ." I smirk." It will kill you."
"I am not afraid of death." Delia lifts her chin." I am dauntless."
"There is a clear line between idiocy and bravery Delia" I push her hand away from mine ." Getting closer to me will put you in dangerous situation"
