Chapter 3 The Hyuuga Phantoms
Naruto and Hinata were walking to the Hyuuga Manor while Sasuke stopped by to tell his family about his plans for tonight.
"Lady Hinata?" Asked Naruto
"Yes Naruto-Kun." Said Hinata.
"I was wondering if you were serious that your manor is haunted because the closer, we are to it. The more I feel like I'm being watched."
"Dead serious. However only those with the Byakugan such as myself can see ghosts. This is due to the Byakuagn being able to see outlines of chakra signatures, including the Ninetailed Fox."
"You knew?" Asked Naruto.
"Oh. I knew for a few years now. All it took was some research and deductive reasoning. It was quite obvious."
"Why don't you care?"
"Because you're a good person Naruto-Kun. I've been admiring you ever since you stood up for me against the bullies."
"Thanks Lady Hinata."
"Alright we are now at the Hyuuga's property. We will stay and wait for Sasuke before entering the property. I want both of you to face the ghosts at the same time."
"Are they mean?" Asked Naruto, worried about being killed by one of the ghosts.
"No. They're very mischievous and overall menaces to society. However, they are quite friendly."
"Father. I'm going to head over to the Hyuuga estate tonight to train with Hinata." Said Sasuke making sure he left out Naruto due to father's and even Itachi's overall distaste for Naruto. Then only members of the Uchiha clan that seemed fond of Naruto were Sasuke himself and Izumi. Sasuke knew that he wouldn't be allowed to sleep over at Hinata's with Naruto even though their teammates and Fugaku wanted Sasuke to become closer for Hinata to marry her…Bleah.
"Well done, Sasuke. I know the Genin test has a 66% failure rate, and you should know that as well." Said Fugaku.
"I know that father and I'm not scared. I won't fail."
Fugaku activated his three-tomoe Sharingan before he said "You better not be Sasuke. If you fail, there will be severe consequences. Am I making myself clear?"
Sasuke nodded his head before he said "Crystal." Before leaving the Uchiha manor. It wasn't long before he visited Izumi and Itachi in the outskirts of the clan.
"Hello Izumi. Can I talk to you about something important?"
"Of course, Sasuke," said Izumi before placing Mina down as she ran towards Sasuke. "Mina is quite happy to see you, Sasuke. She's quite advanced for her age. Able to play with people at least twice her age. I'm wondering if she's more like her father."
"Hello Uncle Sasuke-Kun." Said Mina in a joyful tone.
"Hello Mina." Said Sasuke in joy.
"Pick me up." Said Mina before Sasuke picked his niece up causing her to giggle before putting her down before the door opened revealing Mina's friend Azula and Sasuke's rival Ryu.
"Azula!" Shouted Mina before she and Azula ran and hugged each other.
"Sasuke." Snarled Ryu. Ryu is the black sheep of the Uchiha clan due to being half-civilian. He has black hair, and pale skin. However, what makes Ryu different from the Uchiha Clan were his blue eyes, signifying his lack of heritage. He is wearing a hidden leaf ninja headband, and the standard Uchiha clothing. Azula was also a half-breed amongst the Uchiha clan though she has brown hair instead of unnatural Uchiha eyes like Izumi and Ryu. Thus, was viewed more as a part of the clan than Ryu and even their parents.
"Ryu." Snarled Sasuke back.
"Take care of my sister Izumi. Make sure Sasuke doesn't cause too much trouble." Said Ryu before he shut the door.
"Why you-" said Sasuke before Izumi placed her hand on Sasuke's shoulder.
"What would you like to tell me about before you leave?" Said Izumi as Mina and Azula wrestled on the floor. Somehow despite Azula being 5 years old. The two-year-old Mina was somehow beating her despite Azula not holding back.
"It's my father."
Izumi sighed before she said, "What did he do this time?"
"I think if I fail the Genin test my father will disown me."
"I was afraid that would happen," said Izumi before she shook her head in shameful anger. "It seems like ever since that day happened the Uchiha cares more about power than family. Before I married Itachi I was the black sheep of the clan due to me being half-Uchiha."
"Like Ryu and Azula."
"The difference is I took my pain on myself. While Ryu takes his pain out on others like you. Azula simply is happy only having a loving mother and her friend Mina. Sasuke only Itachi knew this but." Izumi whispered at Sasuke's ear, causing his eyes to widen.
"Sorry. I never knew. I promise I won't tell anyone."
"Thanks for understanding. I already told Itachi about the situation regarding your father, and we agreed to take you in. Even fully leave the clan if it means you have a roof over your head. Your family Sasuke and we could care less about the politics of the clan and village. All me and Itachi want is to look after our loved ones like you."
"I'll do the same as well, Izumi."
"That's my brother-in-law. Take care Sasuke." Said Izumi as Sasuke left his brother's house.
Naruto took another lap around the Hyuuga clan before Sasuke showed up.
"Naruto needed to let out some energy?" Asked Sasuke.
"Yes," Said Hinata. "The poor guy can't keep still for five minutes."
Naruto stopped running laps when he realized that Sasuke showed up. "Ready to visit the haunted mansion, Sasuke?" Asked Naruto before he let out a mischievous grin as he let out rip-off ghost noises. All of a sudden Naruto was taken down with a gentle fist strike and was punched, kicked and jumped on.
"That's what you get for making fun of us. Right Ayaka?" Asked a young child.
"Correct Asana." Said another young child.
"Ah ghosts!" Shouted Naruto before Ayaka and Asana carried Sasuke and Naruto a dozen feet in the sky before throwing them to the ground before they giggled before flying towards the Hyuuga manor.
"Damn. This place really is haunted." Said Naruto.
Sasuke moaned in pain before he said, "You could say that again."
Hinata opened the door only to realize the entire manor was a complete mess. With a pet peeve that Hinata can't stand. The furniture was in the wrong location. The Hyuuga used her Byakugan before she said "Dammit! Ayaka, Asana shows up right now or I'll beat your phantom asses to oblivion!"
"But mom. We're having fun wrecking the mansion and pranking the village." Said Ayaka.
"We had plans to kill an abuser too." Said Asana. The two identical twin sisters. Have pale skin, short brown hair, and pale lavender eyes exclusive to the Hyuuga clan. However, what separates the two of them were blood spatters on what would be the heart. The twin phantoms were wearing standard Hyuuga main house robes, symbolizing their ranks.
"Doesn't matter. Clean this mess now."
"No." said The Phantom Twins before disappearing in the mansion causing Hinata to sigh in frustration.
"Don't worry. I got this." Said Naruto before he used Shadow Clone Jutsu to help clean the Hyuuga manor.
"Finally, the mess is over," Said Hinata before she lazily fell down on the couch.
"That was something, wasn't it Naruto." Said Sasuke.
"Yeah. I'm just glad we don't have to worry about pesky ghosts anymore." Said Naruto. As if on cue the couch that Naruto was on flipped over leaving the poor Uzumaki to fall on his back.
"Hey there Naruto. Can you see us?" Asked The Phantom Ghosts.
"Oh, my kami. I can see them." Said Naruto.
"You what?" Asked Hinata in shock.
"So can I Hinata. You said that only those with a Byakugan can even see ghosts." Said Sasuke.
"Only from what I know."
The Phantom Hyuuga sighed before Ayaka spoke up."Only those that can see certain chakra signatures like the Byakugan can see us. You two are the only exceptions. Perhaps you have a relationship with death like the two of us."
"We're sorry for spooking you. We usually spend our time hanging out with mom-" said Asana.
"Don't call me that," Complained Hinata. "You were born earlier than me. It feels weird to be called mom by both of you."
"Sorry mom but you've practically raised us in the past few years. We were so traumatized when that day happened when he…murdered us…We couldn't even move on…even to purgatory…" Said Ayaka.
"We spend our eternal time hanging out with Hinata, pranking the village, and protecting people from their abusers." Said Asana.
"We may seem like mischievous children. However, we're deeply traumatized and not even death can free us from that."
"I'm sorry for your experience." Said Naruto.
"I'm sorry for beating you up. We lost our temper."
"Call it even?"
"Even."
"Hey Ayaka, Asana. I was wondering if you would like to train with us. Besides, you can be part of Team 7 even if Kakashi-sensei can't see or hear you." Said Sasuke.
"That sounds alright. We're not the strongest from our peers before-" said Asana before Ayaka glared at her.
"We weren't prodigies, but we weren't terrible either. In fact, Hinata improved tremendously and even surpassed us during the years we spar together." Said Asana.
"You spar with your dead clanmates?" Asked Naruto.
"How else can I improve by Kekkei Genkai?" Asked Hinata.
"What?"
"Naruto. Kekkei Genkai is a bloodline trait also known as Dojutsu. All Hyuuga's are born with a Byakugan. However, Uchihas have to earn their Kekkei Genkai; the Sharingan. However not every Uchiha ends up with the Sharingan before their death. For example, since Izumi only is half-Uchiha and doesn't have a strong Uchiha bloodline so she can't awaken the Sharingan. You either have to be a pureblood Uchiha or have a strong bloodline that can make up for being a halfblood." Said Sasuke.
"I didn't know they were half Uchiha's. The Hyuugas are only pure bloods." Said Hinata.
"Is there actually incest within clans?" Asked Naruto.
"Naruto, that's gross! No clan does that shit!" Shouted Hinata.
"Naruto, what were you thinking!" Shouted Sasuke.
"I was just…curious."
"Some questions shouldn't even be considered to be asked, Naruto."
"Like this Naruto," said Sasuke before throwing kunai towards the target. "Try it with your right arm."
"But Sasuke. My left hand feels more natural. It feels stressful and less free." Said Naruto.
'Konoha or any ninja village doesn't like left-handed ninja. However, it seemed that Naruto was forced to be right-handed for years and it never felt comfortable.' Thought Sasuke before he said "Alright we'll try left-handed. Worst comes to worst it can be a trump card and an added repertoire of your shinobi arsenal?"
"..."
"It means you'll be more versatile."
"Sounds good." Said Naruto before throwing kunai and shuriken left-handed. To keep it short, Naruto was naturally left-handed, and everything was a bullseye.
"Wow," said Sasuke in surprise. "I thought there would be a small improvement. But you're a natural at kunai and shuriken."
"Why isn't Hinata left-handed too?"
"I am ambidextrous Naruto," Said Hinata, suddenly making her presence known. "I throw kunai left-handed and shuriken right-handed."
"That's cool. Why did we have to do everything right-handed? When is it more natural for us to use our left-hand?" Asked Naruto.
"Because our teachers, village and society don't want left-handed individuals. Like our teacher said Naruto "the right way is right-handed.""
"That's so unfair."
"Life isn't fair, Naruto. If that's the case, we wouldn't have such shitty childhoods. However perhaps the five of us being friends could benefit the entire group." Said Hinata.
"Hey mom, Sasuke, and Naruto." Said Asana.
"What is it?"
"Look what we found while snooping over a main house storage room." Said Ayaka, revealing a scroll.
"It says "use with caution." Well, we're ninja. I'll be fine. Though I'll keep it far away when I use it in a few minutes," said Hinata before she walked as far away as she deemed necessary before opening the scroll. A bunch of kunai and shuriken fell from the sky as Hinata used her Byakugan and used 8 Trigrams-64 Palms to get rid of all of the shuriken and kunai.
"It's not good enough. It wasn't meant to be used for 8 Trigrams 64 Palms. It's meant for the Rotation." Said Asana.
"I see. Then I still have a lot to learn to truly master the Byakugan to have a chance to kill Takako," said Hinata before she said "I'll bake dinner for the three of us. Since we can't have breakfast tomorrow. We'll eat quite a bit."
"Wow Lady Hinata. This looks delicious. What is it?" Asked Naruto as he drooled from the smell of food.
"It's cinnamon buns. Sorry if you feel it's a bit odd. I'm quite the picky eater." Said Hinata. Sasuke and Naruto began to race each other from eating, causing The Hyuuga to shake her head and sigh.
'Why do the two of them compete at any moment possible? At least it's friendly so it could be worse.' Thought Hinata before eating her own food.
"Hinata, when did you learn to cook like that? It's simply incredible." Said Sasuke.
"Learned it from one of the branch members. Her name is Arezu. She practically raised me, Hanabi, and plenty of other Hyuugas until the massacre happened on Hanabi's second birthday…Hanabi was quite advanced for her age, a prodigy. She was honestly my equal in language intelligence and in combat. Hanabi would've earned the clan head title if that day didn't happen."
"What was Hanabi and Arezu like?"
"She was the mother I never had. My mother wanted nothing to do with me due to me being different and died giving borth to Hanabi. However, Arezu taught me table manners, how to speak and pretty much everything for my first few years in life before entering the academy. I think I owe my life to Arezu not only for being patient and a mother figure to me but if it weren't for her, I would be dead."
"What do you mean?"
"Arezu is the reason why I lived both before and during that day."
"How did she…?" Asked Naruto.
"Arezu had a mutation in the Byakugan that prevented the cage bird seal from properly working. However, a massive price was chakra-enhanced visions of the future. In the weeks to that day Arezu'a visions became more and more clear. Since none of the clan elders nor father would believe her, Arezu took matters into her own hands and made a secret door for children to escape. Unfortunately, Takako caught onto that, and Arezu was…killed in front of me. I don't remember the rest of that day. So, I assume only I lived, and the rest of my clan was slaughtered. Including Hanabi, my younger sister. Although we fought and competed a lot. Deep down we cared and loved each other as we learned how to bake our favorite food from Arezu, learned table manners from Arezu, and if it weren't for my improvement in the months leading up to the academy…I would be disowned from the clan…"
"Then why bother avenging them?"
"Don't you see Naruto. I'm not avenging father nor the elders who vouched for my disownment. I'm avenging my caretakers, my clan friends, my fellow children including Neji, and especially Hanabi and Arezu. They didn't deserve to be butchered by a sociopathic weapon that the elders, the village, and father created. They deserve to evolve the Hyuuga clan for better with Arezu leading the charge."
"Damn. That reminds me of my own caretaker. I don't know who he is or what he even looks like. But I owe him his life. He said I'm his godfather and he couldn't tell me his name due to him being in trouble later down the line." Said Naruto.
"Seems suspicious. What if he's a Missing-Nin?" Asked Sasuke.
"I still owe him for raising me alongside your sister-in-law and Iruka-sensei."
"Yeah. My brother practically raised me following my mother's death. Father never favored me with the exception of a few days. So, after the Hyuuga massacre happened Itachi and the soon to be wife raised me and taught me many things. I think we learned that it doesn't matter who conceived us but who raised us."
"Agreed Sasuke." Said Naruto.
"I think we earned a lot of team bonding." Said Hinata.
As you may or may not tell every OC besides Ayaka and Asana were named after fictional characters from various sources of media lol. Anyway, Autistic people such as I am more likely to be ambidextrous and 2.5 more likely to be left-handed thus the scene where Naruto discovered his natural hand and Hinata explaining that she's ambidextrous. What did you think about my first filler chapter? I think I did a very good job highlighting and developing Naruto's, Sasuke's, and Hinata's past and friendship through their dysfunctional childhoods.
