Harry wiped his forehead with the back of his robes before he opened the door and entered the home of Fleur and Bill Weasley. They were home as was usual of them in the evening, he'd come to learn that after near-nightly visits for the first few weeks of his new relationship with Gabrielle. Their ranks allowed them a higher privilege when it came time to schedules, something Gabby herself only got a bit of slack on due to her older sister.
That wasn't why he was here at their home though. There was only one reason for a majority of his trips and that reason slammed into him from the side, nearly knocking him off his feet due to the sheer speed in which it hit him.
"Hi, Gabby," Harry said fondly as his arms went around the younger girl and pulled her closer to him. "I'm guessing you were in the kitchen or you heard me drop in if you managed to catch me this early."
She nodded her head animatedly and spoke only after he lowered his face for a quick peck on the lips, her smile immediately growing once she received her want. "Oui, it was the second option. Your appearance was louder than usual, and usual is already louder than any other I have heard except for my grandma."
Harry nodded at the mention of her grandma; the older woman was beautiful despite her age, powerful as he was and considered one of the smartest witches on the continent. Any comparison to such a woman would always be a compliment.
"You made it home early too?" Harry asked curiously and only after she pulled herself away from him to reveal that she wore nought but pyjamas. By the look of her, they were the more comfortable sort instead of something purposefully attractive.
"Ouais, of course, it is not often today happens," Gabby said to him, nodding rapidly as her soft, small hand took ahold of one of his larger ones and pulled gently — the response from him was the same as when she'd speak to him in just as soft a tone, that being that he followed after her immediately.
She may as well have me under a love potion, Harry thought as he followed her up the stairs and right on past the older pair of Bill and Fleur. Neither of them gave him more than a smile, smirk or wave, though Fleur looked pointedly pleased with herself whilst Bill shook his head, a nostalgic look on the older man's face.
"I've told you that I fancy you more than anybody else I've ever fancied before, yeah?" Harry asked casually as they furthered their ascension.
Gabrielle didn't pause her movement when she made to respond, instead, she tossed a look over her shoulder and continued. "You have called me the most beautiful woman in the world 'Arry, other words too. It is another reason that I like you as much as I do, but there are too many to list," finally they made it to the top of the stairs and Gabrielle gestured to her room, insisting that he go in first as she always did.
Harry looked around just once, hoping that he saw whatever it was that was in store for him based on the looks of Bill and Fleur, but he saw nothing. There was nothing, not a shoe that didn't belong, a trail of mud that gave away a hidden person or even the faintest ruffling of the carpet. Everything looked as it always had and so he entered Gabby's room, the girl right behind him and closing the door as soon as they were alone.
"You would not know about today, it is something my family and a few close friends keep ourselves to — it is tradition!" Gabrielle spoke the last three words loudly and happily, then continued. "Our first anniversary… of a month was as parf- perfect as I thought it would be because you are as perfect as I knew you would be. This one is more special to me than that."
At that final remark, Gabby withdrew a small box that had been strategically hidden under her pillow and presented it to him. Her face was a light red hue that seemed indicative of her shyness in romantic or intimate moments, a trait that fit her angelic appearance and her tapping on the box before he took it came off as another sign of her nervousness.
In other words, Harry didn't know what to think since Gabrielle was rarely so nervous. Even when they'd begun to try a few things, her attractive blush hadn't been accompanied by any form of tapping or anything of that sort. Still, as the faithful boyfriend and decent bloke that he considered himself to be, he took the box from her hands to spare her any further suffering.
"Do you want me to open it now, or should I do it later when I'm at home?" He asked as he curiously peered at the small box, his eyes flickering to the writing on the outside of it that he didn't remotely comprehend.
"Now!" Gabby practically yelled before she went wide-eyed and one of her hands came up to cover her mouth. After a few seconds, that hand slipped away and she grinned nervously at him. "With me and now, s'il vous plaît."
Harry smiled at her and did as she asked while one of his arms wrapped itself around her, pulling her closer to him. Her softness was always comforting, just like her presence was. Whether it was the allure that she and Fleur allegedly had in spades or just a natural connection to the pair didn't matter to him so long as it was mutually felt.
"A necklace," Harry said aloud after he opened the box to reveal a gold, ruby and orange gemstone piece of jewellery. "You got me a necklace… you didn't have to d—"
"It is a sign of commitment," Gabrielle said, speaking over him as she moved to sit astride his lap. "It is how the women in my family show their men that they are willing to dedicate themselves. There are charms on it that others of our kind will recognise, it would stop the others who are still hunters or immature from going after you — Fleur said you have met others at work, that they try to go for you. This will stop them from trying to steal you from me."
Harry smiled wide at her final remark and pulled her as close as possible from her spot in his lap. "You don't need a necklace to keep them from trying to get after me. Every time anybody flirts, Veela or not, I tell them I've got my own angel already back at home who wouldn't take it very kindly if I spoke with other witches the way that they'd like."
"You still call me an angel after… after I…" — Gabrielle looked around the room, then she looked towards the door and after gazing at the aforementioned object for nearly ten seconds, she turned back to him — "After I showed you my breasts, you remember, oui?"
Before she had even finished saying the word 'breasts' Harry had been nodding rapidly. "Still an angel, I reckon. Definitely an angel, maybe even a goddess or something, I don't know. All I know is you're beautiful and that I can't wait for you to work with me in the Ministry. Oh, right, I should probably give you a present of your own."
"It is not needed, this is tradition to sh…" Gabrielle huffed and crossed her arms when he continued to move about, the girl settling to stare up at him with a mock-pout on her face.
"Here you go," Harry said after he finally pulled out the small sealed envelope he'd had in his backmost pocket. "I'll let you do the reading, yeah?"
Gabrielle narrowed her eyes at him, her pout gone for something more playful that all too often turned into a different sort of playful… not that he minded in the slightest. "My Ang- English is perfectly fine, but if you are wanting me to read it aloud to you before you are kissed until you can't breathe for accepting my gift, I will do it," Gabby said as she took the litter, broke the seal and started with the first word before she went quiet and turned her eyes back to him.
"It is real?" She asked him, her eyes getting filled with tears while she still held the paper in her hands.
Harry nodded and leaned in to press a fast, gentle kiss to the tip of her nose. "Of course it is, I wouldn't joke about something like that. Allow me to be the first person to welcome you to the team, by the way. You're our first curse-breaker attached to the Auror Corps for special assignments amongst other things."
Gabby launched herself at him, the girl wrapping her arms around Harry's torso as she pulled him down to the bed with her.
Harry would never grow tired of those moments.
"Good morning," Greeted Gabby's soft voice when he roused the next day, his head atop soft pillows and a softer body resting atop his.
Harry rubbed his eyes when he looked down to see Gabrielle smiling up at him, her face resting on his chest. When he looked around and saw the familiar setting of her room, a few articles of clothing on the chair beside her bed and again, her smiling face, he recalled last night; it hadn't, in fact, been a dream.
"Good morning, Gabby," he greeted as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes and regarded her smiling face, beautiful as ever despite the look of the morning undoubtedly marring his features. "You're wide awake today, aren't you?"
She giggled at his words and went in for a kiss. It was a lingering sort of kiss not at all like their usual chaste pecks when in public or when a conversation should be had. Her tongue battled his, as Gabby's personality in the bedroom was decidedly different from her outward persona as she bit at his lower lip. When she did so and hard enough that it stung him, he found himself just distracted enough for her to take control of the kiss — as soon as that happened, her soft moans or the occasional growls grew more prominent.
That went on for nearly thirty seconds before Harry began to grow light-headed with Gabby's lips pressed against his and her body above him, pressing forward with her superior advantage. With his time growing short, he flipped their positions with his strength, ensuring that Gabby was below him while the kiss broke apart just long enough for him to gather his breath; it was that same time that he noticed her lack of a top.
He'd seen her before in all of her beauty, but it was always the epitome of distracting when it happened.
"Like always," Gabby laughed, one of her hands settling on the back of his neck while the other traced shapes upon his chest. "You are captivated by me."
"I am," he agreed.
"You call me 'angel' to others and to my face, but the other word you used, Goddess, it is how you make me feel," Gabrielle said to him, her perfect teeth showing as she beamed upwards at him. "I love you, 'Arry Potter."
Harry knew the words had been coming even if they hadn't dated for a long time and while it had felt too soon to say them even yesterday, something had clicked. Whether it was her necklace, their night or a myriad of smaller happenings, it simply felt right.
"I love you too," he said back to her with such a level of conviction in his tone that he knew all future words wouldn't be able to meet it.
Gabby went up for a kiss and then she smiled a different sort of smile at him. "My parents will meet you for dinner next week, the reservations are made already," she said before her eyes went down, between them. "You will want to enjoy our time together some more before then, ouais? In case my mama doesn't approve and has to fireball you?"
In response, Harry closed the distance between them.
