Disclaimer: Do not own Digimon.

Something I quite enjoy doing is throwing little nuggets here and there connecting pieces of the Adventure Story and connecting them so people can have a point of reference to Zero Two. It can be a bit taxing and take research, but for something like this it's well worth it. Anyways, I can't believe we are well into the Myotismon Saga from Rei's perspective already. How do you all like it so far? Too vague? Don't care? We're still going through the trenches. We'll get out eventually. Enjoy the struggle. I know I am.

Chapter Forty-One: Won't you die for me, Please?

Rei returned using the same path he had before, eager to return to the castle. He found Myotismon waiting for him in his study looking over some books. His gnarled hands practically clawed at a page while he skimmed it with his finger.

"What are you doing there?" Rei asked.

"Research."

"About what?"

"Protecting myself should those brats defeat me," he said. "As long as I complete this spell correctly I can come back even though I should perish."

"Fascinating," Rei said taking the cards Gennai gave him out of his pocket, looking at them and then flinging him down on the table. "And how exactly will you accomplish that?"

"By separating my data into my bats I can come apart, and, if I have the energy I can feed off of other digimon and restore myself to an even greater form. I had not considered it before, but my minions have found pleasing literature for the sake of growing my kingdom. This spell book is the crown jewel of them all," he said grinning satisfied.

"I've never heard such a thing," Rei said. "But I'll leave you to your devices…" he said pausing for a moment, turning to leave.

Hold on," Myotismon said harshly, "How did you come across these cards? Was it while you were away?"

"...I don't need to explain myself," Rei said whimsically throwing his head back starting to get annoyed with him. "Any more questioning and I will have to consider your acts as insubordination," he said narrowing his eyes staring at him. "Do I make myself clear?"

"Of course," Myotismon said with a slight bow. "However, unlike Etemon and Devimon I won't throw away my life for your own cause. My own ambitions far exceed that."

Rei paused, remembering just what kind of man he was before his transformation. He walked forward to him and placed his hand on his chest pushing against it.

Myotismon cringed and buckled to his knees clutching his heart.

"What did you do?" he growled through his clenched teeth.

"Helped you of course," he smirked.

"Helped me? How?"

"I've placed a curse on you."

"A curse!" Myotismon exclaimed threatened. "How dare you?" he frothed.

"Oh, but let me explain my dear servant," he grinned, "You sought from the book how to restore your form, correct? I've done you one better."

"How so?"

"I've made it so even if your bodily form is destroyed unless your digital viral spirit is taken out then you will not die, but come back in a different from."

Myotismon opened his eyes wide staring at Rei as if he did not understand him.

"My Lord," he said at a loss. "I don't know what to say."

"You should have just come to ME from the beginning," he chided him. "It's good to keep up on your literature, but if you seek power, go to the one who can give it to you- not to books that teach you how to figure it out for yourself unless, of course, you have no other choice."

Myotismon closed his eyes deeply regaining his composure. "I will take that into consideration," he said getting up throwing his cape behind his back. "With the secret to both Death X evolution and immortality I'm ready to conquer earth and the Digital World!"

"That's good," Rei said lightly clapping his hands. "Go, make your ambitions come true...if you can," he challenged him, Myotismon grinning sadistically.

"I'm sure you won't be satisfied till all is covered in darkness," Myotismon mused. "Once that time comes my Lord mind if we make a little wager?"

"A wager you say?" Rei said curiously. "All right, I'll hear you out," he said shifting his head slightly.

"Should I succeed in covering both worlds in Darkness you will relinquish your throne to me," he said. "But in the unlikely event I lose any power I have gained will go straight back to you."

Rei tapped a finger to his lips thoughtfully. There was no way Myotismon would succeed, but if he did...well, if Rei did relinquish his throne he would just challenge him and take it right back. He smirked entertained by the idea. "All right then, you have yourself a deal," he said bringing his hand forward shaking Myotismon's deadened hand, Rei emitting a powerful viral binding seal over them.

"Oh? You don't think I won't keep my word? A Vampire Lord is as good as the blood that flows through him," He snubbed him.

"Far be it from me to do that to you my servant," Rei said politely back. "This gesture is a symbolic token of the agreement in place," he said. "Think of it as signing a contract in your data."

The two of them stared at each other, Rei letting Myotismon believe he somehow could one day rival him in power masking his own viral data.

Just then, the doors swung open, a Bakemon out of breath. "My Lord! My Lord!" it said out of breath. "We have an intruder! I came to tell you as soon as I-"

-Immediately a small sword pierced into it's back the Bakemon evaporating in ghostly echoes.

"Who dares to break into my castle?" Myotismon challenged.

An uneven gait made it's presence known followed by an evil chuckle. "I wonder who indeed?" the voice said, Rei instantly recognizing it.

"Well now," he said, a single blade being thrown at him, Rei catching it and dissolving it. "It seems your aim hasn't diminished..Piedmon."

"Thank you, thank you," the viral clown said walking over to them, sitting down at the table. "I say my good vampire fellow, fetch me a bottle of your finest, would you?"

Myotismon leered at him, his bats starting to swarm around him. "You dare to command a Lord in his own castle? You have some nerve!" he snapped.

Piedmon glanced at him menacingly, a quick movement of the hands pinning all of his bats to the wall. "Don't toy with me now," he cautioned. "Honestly, a mega digimon such as myself not getting the respect he deserves from an ultimate," he said as if scolding him. "If my Lord Rei Kurenada was not here I would be toying a lot more with you than this," he said. "I'd throw your entire castle into a bloody circus."

"We're all grateful you aren't," Rei said snapping his fingers deleting all of the swords in the wall. "I am surprised to see you though. I for sure would have thought you went into hiding until the appointed time."

"About that..." he said, throwing his head to the side, glancing at a bottle. Myotismon begrudgingly grabbed it forcefully, poured him a drink and set it down on the table offering it to him.

"There's a good lad," he said approvingly. He swirled the contents in a champagne glass and downed it, letting out a soothing sigh thereafter.

Rei crossed his arms waiting for his response. "Well?"

"...Well my Lord," he said, "I wanted to get a bit more clarification on the approach we are taking with the Digidestined," he said. "I understood from Myotismon that should the castle be destroyed we would start to set everything in motion, But as far as how to treat the Digidestined, we are a bit at a loss," he said spreading out his arms coming up empty.

"Do tell," Rei said sitting down, resting his elbow on his chair and his cheek on his hand.

"From what I understood we are to take control of the Digital World and change it to an image dividing the digital world into a swirling spiral mountain. I love the idea; it gives me absolute shivers," he said shaking his boots.

"But?" Rei wondered, waiting for him to finish.

"That's just the thing my Lord," he said. "When the Digidestined arrive you told us to just toy with them? Before we fought tooth and nail and were almost able to defeat them at once because we all fought them at the same time. So why are you giving them the special treatment?"

"It's not giving special treatment," Rei answered sighing out. "You're putting on a show Piedmon. An important show at that. Each of you will have your respective acts. The Digidestined get a taste of your power, climb the mountain and go through each one of your territories. Whoever destroys them gets all the glory."

"Ah! Well!" Piedmon said delighted. "What fun! I can hear the applause now! How marvelous of a performance awaits!"

Rei nodded his head glad for his fervor.

"I think you're forgetting one thing," Myotismon huffed. "Don't forget our wager. You can make all the plans for your little sideshow, but you'll never perform it. Those children will have the life sucked out of them before I toss their drained corpses aside!" he declared.

Rei and Piedmon glanced at each other and started to laugh out loud, Myotismon pounding his fist on the table.

"What's so funny? Do you really think I'll fail?!"

"He's such an upstart of a whelp," Piedmon acknowledged. "But, he does have a point. You may not need us after all."

"We'll get to that point if it comes to it," Rei said reaching his hand across the table and grabbing a bottle. Myotismon grabbed two glasses and set them down, Rei pouring it's crimson contents.

"A toast," he said lifting up his glass, his two generals following suite. "May we be victorious!"

Long after Piedmon had left Rei went and inspected the troops of Myotismon, wondering about his invasion and how it would proceed.

"They are quite something, are they not?" his chief minion of the castle Tailmon said observing them all whimsically flickering her tail. "They are unnaturally vicious for viral digimon."

"Unnaturally?" Rei asked.

"Quite so,"Wizardmon agreed listening in. "You could say their very data is composed of confusion, processed through somewhere else, and then they come back having the same energy, but lose the confusion of their deletion in the first place."

"What nonsense are you spouting now Wizardmon?" Tailmon said keeping an eye on him.

"Oh, nothing," he mused.

"Is that so? Well, we're still missing SkullMeramon in the ranks. He's the last one before we get ready to leave."

"Fine, fine," he said nodding his head. "I didn't mean to offend you Tailmon. I was only thinking out loud."

"Then keep it to yourself," she said coldly. "And how long are you going to be staying here stranger?" Tailmon asked.

Rei glanced over at her 'viral' digital data wondering if anyone else new besides the wizard. Perhaps even she didn't know? For all Myotismon's bravado he also didn't seem to notice.

"Question for you kitty cat," he said bending down to her level, "How can a tiny little thing as yourself sway the power of ultimate level digimon?"

"What do you mean?" she asked. "Are you insulting me?!" she said her claws out. "I'm Myotismon's right hand! They instantly recognize me!"

"And just 'how' do they recognize you? Being a Champion level do you bear some sort of insignia of the Vampire Lord?"

Tailmon glanced at him strangely. "I don't understand," she said. "They take one look in my eyes and know I'm serious. It's all about bloodlust. If you don't have it, you can't command anyone."

"Really?" Rei said curiously. "I would have sworn it had something to do with that mystical tail ring on your tail, giving off a glint of mystery."

"My tail ring?" she questioned bringing it close and looking at it. "It's always been there. I never really thought about it."

"Is that right?" he grinned. "I wonder though. If you are a viral digimon at the champion level, and if this is a tail ring of light, then why are you the only one who does not seem at all bothered by wielding it?"

She glanced at him fearfully, her claws shirking back as she held it. "Wait, huh?" she wondered aloud.

"Because I-I'm also a viral-"

"-Digimon?" Rei giggled. "But how can that be if a tail ring symbolic of vaccine digimon is attached to you?"

Tailmon's eyes went this way and that, her mouth panting out, perspiration starting to soak in her fur.

"Wait a minute," she said starting to lose it. "Is this…why?" she asked. "A long time ago...the bats, my predigivolved form. No, I was rebellious," she said rationalizing to herself. "I was a rebellious evil digimon who was tortured and twisted to serve Myotismon. I was evil. I was viral! I-"

"-Your eyes look desperate," he said leering at her. "The same kind of desperation all those years ago before you were beaten into submission? Could a viral digimon really possess a tail ring of vaccine digimon?"

She started huffing, Rei noticing her mind swimming thinking of answers.

"Thunderbolt!" a voice shouted, Rei turning to see a bolt of lightning strike Tailmon in the face, her face relaxing as she fell to the ground.

Wizardmon returned, with SkullMeramon following behind him.

"Go take your place," he commanded, the skulking form walking past them.

He bent down to Tailmon now peacefully resting.

"You seem to know just as much as I do," Wizardmon said staring down at her.

"It's a good thing you intervened or she might have just come across the truth," Rei replied.

"She's not ready for it," he said leaning on his staff. "If Tailmon realizes she's not a viral digimon and Myotismon gets wind of it he'll destroy her," he said. "She hasn't met the human who she's destined to be with yet," he revealed. "All hope of her happiness and defeating him will be lost if she finds out too early."

"Is that so?" Rei mused to himself. "Maybe I should just tell Myotismon so he can eliminate her right now."

"But you won't do that," Wizardmon instantly replied picking her up. "Because this is all some kind of game to you."

"Well," he snickered, "You're right about that one my fine wizard friend. Your magic is impressive even fooling Myotismon. Everyone still thinks she's a viral digimon even though she has that tail ring. But, if you're not careful your friendship might one day cost you."

"I'm aware of that fact," Wizardmon replied, concerned for Tailmon. "But should anything happen to me, I know Hikari will take care of her."

"Hikari?" Rei questioned. "Tell me, Wizardmon, how do you know the name of the Digidestined?"

"How do I indeed?" He asked aloud. "Let's just say my level of compassion has overridden my viral code and has given me privy a glimpse into the future."

"Or someone, or should I say some Goddess has shown you," Rei said annoyed.

"I don't know who you mean," he said. "When I stared into Tailmon's eyes, I saw just a tiny glimpse in them, a spark that revealed to me this. I couldn't explain how."

"That's not at all surprising," Rei said.

"If you'll excuse me," he said, "I need to lay Tailmon down. "She'll be quite cranky if she wakes up and finds out I attacked her."

"By all means," Rei said letting him walk by.

While Rei met the troops, having conversation and interacting with them Myotismon appeared, each Digimon at salute instead of the lax Rei.

"Nearly ready to head on out are we?" Rei asked.

"Of course," he reminded. "My destiny will wait for no one."

"In that case," Rei said, "Word around the castle is one of the Digidestined has a crest that has not activated yet. I believe it was from a Demidevimon that it was the crest of love?"

"You're right," Myotismon grinned. "I can eliminate that one or maybe all of them with this opportunity. I'm going to go introduce myself," he said turning around. He raised his voice, his cloak stretching out making him seem even more a threat to his servants. "Standby my loyal subjects. Perhaps I can eliminate these pests with one of them not able to meet me at my level."

With that Myotismon took his leave exiting the room leaving Rei by himself.

"And now," Rei said, "With him away, I'll go ahead and move forward," he said slowly making his way to the gate.

"What are you doing?" a random digimon cried. "Myotismon has not given us permission yet!"

Rei cleared his mind, forcing the doors open. "Then give him this message for me. Tell him Rei's gone ahead to witness his destiny. Try not to keep him waiting."

With that Rei closed his eyes and let himself be carried through the dimension focusing back on Hikarigaoka.

Rei bided his time waiting for the two groups to clash. Both of them were desperate to look for the eighth child, but only he knew where she was right now. If the Digidestined leader was smart he would know who exactly it was, but he doubted that his headstrong personality would even be able to comprehend the possibility very long.

Instead, Rei decided to chart out each of the Digidestined to see what he could find out about each of them. He had learned from earlier battles as they were training the data of their digimon and their champion forms…

He had seen Taichi with Koromon. Agumon digivolved and then again with the Crest of Courage into Metal Greymon. This meant Taichi had the Crest of Courage.

Gabumon with the crest of Friendship into WerGarurumon.

Tentomon with the Crest of Knowledge into MegaKabuterimon.

Piyomon also digivolved into Birdramon, but he had no idea what crest she utilized. The same with Gomamon. The same with Palmon.

He could safely say though that the child Takeru had the crest of hope. And, thanks to his experiences and prophecy, Hikari wielded the crest of light.

Therefore, he knew that out of that mess he needed to learn the names of the Digidestined and which crests respectfully they wielded.

"Hmm," he said to himself. "Perhaps I could track their information down similar to Myotis-wait!" he said ecstatically. He manifested in his hand viral digital energy and morphed it into a bat-an identical copy of Myotismon's familiars.

"There, perfect," he said holding one in two hands. "If I just spread these around the city, and have them follow the data of each of the Digidestined's respectful Digimon perhaps I will be able to find out about them. It's going to be difficult relying on my Domain since the real world is not connected to the Digital One," he pondered.

When he was ready, he gathered them all up and when it was evening, he flung them all up into the sky, waiting to come across the Digital Signatures of Digimon.

Not too much later, after one day in a hotel ravishing a female stranger he had somehow seduced and devoured, Rei received an update. The Digidestined had returned. The data poured in little by little as the Digidestined pursued Myotismon. Ultimate Digimon he had never seen showed their corresponding crests that triggered their Digivolutions. Even the Digidestined tied to their Digimon were revealed.

Rei updated his information and had a seat at a nearby cafe that evening going over the information. He ordered just a cup of coffee and mulled everything over. He had no need to learn about the circumstances for each Digidestined and just why their crest was there's except hope and light, but even that didn't need much explaining.

"Sure enough though," he said to himself charting the journey from where they begin to where they were now and the enemies they defeated, "They are a scrappy bunch. They are not overly strong, but their team work and bonds are undeniable. They are ugly, but honest," he said leaning his head back and staring at the outdoor sky.

A glint in the air caught his attention, as onlookers looked puzzled at a flash in the sky near a river. Rei curiously went over to it, out of the corner of his eye noticing a battle taking place. Myotismon it seems had figured out Tailmon was the eighth Digimon, and Metal Greymon had just released his Giga Blaster attack. The Crimson Lightning of Myotismon flung it into the river and then Metal Greymon dedigivolved back down to his rookie form.

"Well, that's no good," he said to himself. He listened to the conversation realizing that Myotismon had picked up on Tailmon being the eighth Digimon. His bats kidnapped her and flew off, Taichi making his retreat.

Rei leaned against a wall with his arms crossed. "If Tailmon was in danger then Wizardmon should have been here as well," he said glancing around, but the wizard was nowhere in sight. He glanced down at the river noticing a few bubbles surface; a hand stretching out, a glove that Rei instantly recognized.

He headed over to that direction and hovered over the water pulling him up.

"T-Tailmon," Wizardmon coughed. "I've got to get to Tail-"

"You'll do no such thing," Rei said setting him down on the bank, landing down at his side.

"Y-you!" he exclaimed, coughing. "You've saved me? Why?"

"Because," he said considering all of the moving pieces, "The way things are going right now, it looks like both Tailmon and the Eighth child will die."

"Not with the Digidestined protecting her," Wizardmon countered, regaining his senses.

"You think they'll be able to stop him?" Rei questioned. "They aren't nearly as strong enough. If they could have won, it would have been before either of them came to this world. They could only hold him off. That's why he's here, isn't he?"

"True," Wizardmon sighed falling to his knees, his hands pressing against the ground. "We're just treading water at this point. It's only a matter of time before Myotismon finds Hikari."

"Ah, you've met her have you?" he said approvingly. "That's good. What do you think of her?"

"She's a bright, thoughtful child," he said. "She emits light, even being triggered by the Digivice."

"True," Rei agreed, "But I want you to consider something Wizardmon. I've been considering the power of each of the children and their Digimon through their crests, but the crest of light is different."

"It's different?"

"Their is a process for each of the children awakening the power of their crests," he said, "But Light is not an emotion. How can a child such as her then awaken the power aside nothing more than an intense powerful emotion that does not correspond to any of the others?" he questioned. "Hikari is a quiet well-reserved child. It will take something truly traumatizing for her to find her voice."

"An awakening," Wizardmon said marveling at the suggestion. "I...I would do anything for Tailmon," he said firmly. "Even give my life. If that's what it takes for her and Hikari to survive then-"

"-Is that right?" Rei said interrupting him. "Perhaps the crest of light itself being connected to Tailmon is partly responsible for your viral composition change of heart."

"Maybe," he said, "But it's actually due to Tailmon's kindness. You see, she saved me and it changed my life forever. We've been friends ever since."

"How touching," Rei said indifferently.

"You have no idea," Wizardmon said ignoring him. "And if I can be saved like that, maybe one day you can too."

Rei twitched, clicking his tongue in disapproval. He picked him up by his back shawl.

"I'm afraid you're quite mistaken," he said hovering him over the river.

"Mistaken? What do you think you're-"

"-I don't need to be saved by anyone," he said darkly. "No, I'm the kind of being that people ask to be saved from."

"Are you going to kill me?" he asked.

"No," Rei said, "But I will leave you in your previous state somewhere down the river," he said. "You can thank your own thoughtless compassion thinking I need to be saved," he said dropping him, Wizardmon screaming, and then holding out his hand throwing him carrying him bouncing along the current like a stepping stone beyond sight.

He smirked watching the ripple currents start to calm down.

"The time is coming," he said staring into the future. "Your sacrifice will be necessary Wizardmon if you love Tailmon and Hikari as much as you proclaim," he said noticing the sky get brighter. "It is nearly the dawn. Be prepared...for that eventuality."

Like watching a chess game play itself out, so Rei watched with keen interest from above, his own bats observing the Digidestined, and savoring the sights and screams of humanity exposed to Digimon be rounded up like cattle into a metropolitan prison area.

Kids were separated from their parents. Even one of the Digidestined had been captured. Myotismon had sealed off the whole city with a strange mist to prevent the eighth child from escaping. Helplessly Tailmon, the preform to the wretched angel whittled the numbers of children down of the possible eighth Digidestined, but no ground was being made.

Then, all of a sudden the situation changed abruptly. One of his own bats saw the Digidestined Jou awaken his crest of reliability, save Takeru and defeat Mega Seadramon. They came across Wizardmon. Shortly after Mimi awakened the power of her crest of sincerity with Lilymon though Myotismon made short work of her. Just when he had caught up with that the Digidestined Yamato and Sora had reunited only for Phantomon to intervene, summon a Snimon and Tuskmon to battle and their clash with their Digimon upsetting Hikari, who, for a brief moment awakened her power, Rei immediately dropping all of the other activities to see it. A light emitted from her, small as it was, and she surrendered herself to Phantomon.

"Well," He said entertained, "How do you like that Homeostasis? Shall we go see this little drama unfold? Will your precious vessel live long enough to survive? You better do something. I won't enjoy relinquishing my throne to this adolescent Gothic upstart," he mused.

In his haste to get a front of view of the approaching battle Rei jumped from one building to the next manipulating his own viral data. Strangely though, he felt off, as if his power had suffered a set back and stalled. Mid jump to one building it stopped, Rei crashing to the ground falling quite a distance, which, if he was human would have ended him.

He lay flat on his face, his crushed body restoring itself gradually, but Rei groaning out in pain, wondering what could have caused it. This had been the first time he had felt pain in awhile, and, he did not have time to lay like this when the climax nearly had arrived.

He gritted his teeth and sat up feeling as if a part of him was dissolving. He stared down at his chest, noticing a gaping hole in it, gradually growing.

"This can't be," he said to himself looking at his hands, one of them dislocated, also noticing smaller holes start to get bigger. He had tied the lives of his generals to him in the Digital World, but, for some reason it did not come into effect and restore him. Perhaps those batteries don't work in the real world after all. Or maybe the effects of the curse from the Digital Creator made it so he has to replenish his viral data at a much faster rate in the real world.

He put his hands over his eyes gritting his teeth. "A miscalculation," he sighed. For all of his conniving manipulations, for him to be done like this at this rate was-

"-Oh no!" a loud voice yelled out, as a police officer headed over to him. "I just called an ambulance! What happened to you?" he said bending down inspecting Rei. "You don't look good at all. I saw you fall! I'm amazed you survived!" he said positively.

Rei sensed from him a beaming positivity and a caring for others- nothing he could work with to restore himself or a claim a meal. He swallowed a lump in his throat, noticing the man's face twist slightly as if his happiness had been slipping off.

A mask? He said to himself, starting to grin, noticing the holes were getting bigger and he did not have much time before he would die this time.

"You seem...sad," Rei said. "Forget about me," he acted maybe a bit too dramatically. "I'm sure you have a family to get back to. I'll wait for the ambulance to arrive, but it might be it for me."

The man's eyes turned to him wide-eyed, the positivity losing it's luster as a deep sadness overcame him.

"I've got time," he said swallowing heavily. "I'll be with you friend until the ambulance comes or you perspire, but would you mind hearing me out?"

"Of course," Rei said feigning interest, his pain through his data actually manifesting.

The man sat down next to him on the ground. "I'm a respectable police officer. But, I'm nowhere as respectable as my peer. He is forthright, honest, and a good soul who loves people deeply. But, I don't," he said as if hardly able to believe those words came from his mouth. "Unlike him, Hida Iori, I don't care for people as much as I thought I did."

"Why?" Rei asked coughing slightly.

"Well," he sighed, "It didn't start out that way. I used to genuinely care for people. Catch the bad guy, get a paycheck, and make sure laws were being followed. But, it wore down on me over time. I could get chewed out or spit on while on the job, but, over time that changed. Maybe it was because of just how much overtime I had put in with my department losing some officers to transfers. It took awhile to settle things in. But, my wife, in that time frame had grown distant. I found receipts in odd places for expensive restaurants and a couple of necklaces and jewelry that I knew she never had before. My darling daughter in her teenage rebellious phase also grew to have a foul mouth, and rebelled against me and the values I had placed in her growing up. We all just...separated emotionally and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

"And?" Rei questioned biding his time. "How did that make you feel?"

"Feel?" he questioned. "I was deeply depressed. My own daughter one day scolded me for not being a man and not confronting my wife, who I still loved more than anything. But, not too much longer later, she left, and my daughter was stunned. She grabbed her things and left as well. I was the only one left in the house. The things I cherished and wanted to protect were gone."

"Didn't it make you angry?" Rei winced. "Or did you blame them for it?"

"It was my fault though," he smiled, Rei noticing anger build within him. "It was all my fault," he said, his intonation rising. "If I had simply taken the task that was given to me to guard an important figure then I would have been the one to die!" he shouted. "Not Iori Hida! Then at least my wife and daughter would be happy and his wouldn't be sad! With me dead they would have been so much better off! They wouldn't need a provider! The insurance check would have covered everything! Then they could have just moved on with their lives, but I had to live and witness both of them fall apart! It's not fair!" he lamented, following forward, his arms catching the ground.

He breathed out heavily, sweat pouring down his face. "I...I hate them, but I love them," he grimaced. "They took everything I had tried so hard for and just threw it away. They threw ME away," he groaned. "And what was I supposed to do, quit my job and watch as we can't pay for basic necessities? My wife wouldn't make enough to even make a house payment! Everything was always my responsibility. Everything! I just," he growled, his anger building even more, "I had to go home and deal with a cheating hor of a wife and a wayward daughter who wanted to be anywhere but near her father! But now they're just gone!"

Rei stared at him, his eyes narrowing. "That's too bad friend," he said placing one of his hands starting to develop holes it onto the man's face.

He turned towards him strangely.

"I thought you would barely be able to move."

"Let's just say...you've motivated me," Rei said, savoring this moment. "You won't need to worry about your daughter or wife. You'll have died in the line of duty. They will be well off. You were just a bottom feeder scraping through the police ranks. They never really cared about you. They just wanted to live a life of comfort. And you gave it to them and more," he grinned, a burning sensation spreading away from him.

"You are," he chuckled, "Pathetic."

At that reaction the man turned towards him, anger stirring within him probably more than Rei had ever seen in someone. "You won't be much longer anyway," he winced. "You can just go ahead and die. It was wrong of me to try to help an injured man. You're also turning on me," he said, his face twitching, his hand clasping around Rei's neck. "You and everyone else!" he roared starting to squeeze his neck, Rei salivating.

His negativity masked onto Rei, Rei soaking in it. He then activated his face scruncher, devouring the man's body, converting it into viral data and absorbed it into himself. He stared down at his body, the wholes being filled once more. His hands also could move freely, and he could move his way about with little effort.

"This is why," Rei said staring down at the empty clothes of the man that had once stood before him, "Humanity is garbage. You don't take any action, and when it's too late to do anything you take it out on others," he said shaking his head.

He stared out into the distance, noticing a group of monsters and kids rushing desperately towards the television studio where Myotismon lurked, even Wizardmon. He smirked, a positive sign of things developing as anticipated. He would have to get a front row seat for sure.

Rei placed one hand in his pocket, a slight breeze blowing into the nearly streets, Rei realizing another ambulance would not have shown. Perhaps the man he had devoured was waiting for him to die so he could vent without anyone else knowing. He was too far gone already. He stepped on the man's hat scrunching it. "It's too bad you weren't a brunette woman in her mid twenties. But you were the pick me up I needed."

He kicked the hat out of the way walking towards the sound of missiles, digital cries and flames. "Surely this will be a foreshadowing..." he said the noise ringing pleasantly in his ears "...Of many more pleasant things to come."
