A/N: Greetings to those that are reading this. Welcome to a new story for an anime I consider extremely underrated. I watched Gate on Hidive and fell in love with it. Bought the blu-ray and binged it two more times. It's actually awesome and has great rewatch value. Is it nationalistic? More or less, and the manga and light novel is apparently even more so from what I hear. But I put that aside to watch modern soldiers slaughter Roman armies, lol. And the characters are fun to watch, too.

Anyway, been trying to get my writing mojo back for stories I have on hold and others I hope to do. And I figured, why not with Gate?

This'll be an OC fic. Not that Itami and co won't be there, of course. They'll still be relevant. It's Japan, after all.

Anyway, let's get this going. :v

Disclaimer: I don't own Gate or any properties utilized in this story.

Greystoke Industries. A multinational corporation that has its hands in all things technology. Communications, robotics, computers and electronics, space tech, weaponry, and much more. It is the largest tech conglomerate in the world.

From its humble beginnings as a manufacturing and engineering plant during the height of the Industrial Revolution, it exploded into a global industrial superpower. Developing new technologies that would help the world advance into what is now the modern age. And will likely continue to do so for years to come. Bringing about a new age of technology in each generation.

Greystoke Industries has its main headquarters in the United Kingdom, as well as other branches in many countries. Such as the United States, France, Japan, and Germany. Russia and China have been lobbying to have a branch established in their countries, but nothing has come of it as of yet.

Running this multinational tech conglomerate are those of the Greystoke family. Loved, hated, feared. Yet most importantly above all else, well-respected. All for many reasons, both good and bad. Such mixed reputation has allowed an old saying to always be known.

Never cross a Greystoke.

The Greystoke patriarch, Isaac Greystoke, currently runs Greystoke Industries. The one set to take the reigns once he is old enough is the man's only son: Ciel Orion Greystoke.

The heir.

Ciel Orion Greystoke. Only child of Isaac and the late Iris Greystoke. Born in London. Heir to Greystoke Industries. The young heir is considered to be a prodigy, and for good reason. He possesses a high genius intellect and photographic memory. With this combination, he achieved many feats early in his young life.

Building his first circuit board at age 4, then a motorbike engine only a few short years later. Speeding through his education at a record speed, examples being earning a perfect score on his SAT at the age of six and completing high school in as little as nine weeks. After which he left for America and was admitted early into Massachusetts Institute of Technology, becoming the youngest student in MIT history at age 7. He graduated at the age of 10 with honors. Gaining much knowledge in areas concerning technology, business, linguistics, and even political science. Not stopping there, he returned to his home country to attend London Business School and gain his MBA at the age of 12 in just under two years. An achievement that normally takes 3-4 years.

After this, Ciel would go with his father on many business trips around the world. Being shown how Greystoke Industries was run, and what would be needed to keep it going. As well as gaining raw experience in the rough world of business and politics. His father's teachings were tough in more ways than one, but Ciel took it in stride. Absorbing all the knowledge and experience he could like a sponge. Gaining all the characteristics required of a Greystoke. Ruthlessness, strong will, strong mind, a cold nature when needed.

The young heir is now 15, currently residing in Japan. And he will soon make his mark on the world.

...Just not in the world he was expecting.

Ciel was in a laboratory located underground of a Greystoke facility in Ginza. This facility was not the main branch, but a personal facility for the heir. The actual Japan branch of Greystoke Industries being in Tokyo.

The young heir was a short teen at five feet exact, with grey-tinged, blue-black hair and a single visible rich peacock-blue eye. A black eyepatch covered where his other eye would be. Pale skin and a well-proportioned body with thin arms, slim shoulders, and a narrow waist. He currently wore a black sleeveless muscle shirt and sweatpants.

The young man was currently working on a passion project of sorts. Something that was supposed to be nothing more than fiction, but he intended to bring to reality. Something that had inspired him when he saw it in a movie at a young age.

"Just a few twists here and there. And...done."

Finishing his adjustments, he placed his arm into the metallic arm appendage. Closing it up and hooking it up to the power source on his chest, he lifted his arm to test the weight.

"Not light, yet not heavy. Excellent."

He moved towards some test dummies and aimed the palm of the metal arm appendage at one. The circular device on the palm glowed.

He braced himself and fired.

A test dummy was obliterated by what would eventually be called a repulsor blast.

He braced and fired two more blasts at the other dummies. They were just as obliterated.

"Targets destroyed. Unlike Mr. Stark, I was not sent flying. Some slight pain from the kick back, but nothing significant or worth a visit to the doctor. Overall, a successful test. Can soon move on to building the full suit for test flight."

Satisfied, Ciel set his arm back on the table and unhooked and removed the arm appendage carefully. He then quickly ran some diagnostics on the power source on his chest.

"Ark reactor functioning normally. No signs of any errors. Wonderful. Wouldn't do to damage the very thing keeping me alive."

Yes, he said that right. The Ark Reactor. A device that was simply supposed to be a fictional item from a comic book. Yet here it was. Very much real.

Ciel had brought it to life back when he was about to graduate from MIT. He had intended to keep it a secret due to such a revelation being world changing. But there had been an...incident, some years after he graduated. He didn't like to talk about it, but many things happened during and because of this incident. One thing of which had forced him to have the Arc Reactor surgically installed on his chest. And when the whole ordeal had been finished, he couldn't exactly keep the device a secret. Though luckily, his father chose not to act on this revelation, and instead left the device in Ciel's hands for when he took over the company.

With this device being brought to life, it was only natural that the next thing be a specific suit of armor that the device would power. The Iron Man armor. Ciel's current passion project. And the inspiration was obvious. The very popular superhero movie Iron Man. And while it was said many a time by experts that it was not something that could realistically be built, Ciel didn't care. Ciel had seen the movie in the private movie room at his home at a young age. Seen all the designing and gears moving and connecting and had been inspired. Which led to now.

"Soon," he muttered. "It will become reality."

He made to start working on the final design of the suit when the intercom buzzed.

"Hey, Shorty! You still down there?"

...Ugh.

"Yes, Kiyota," Ciel deadpanned. "I am still down here. And I believe I said that I did not want to be disturbed."

"Yeah, well, you've been down there for a goddamn week! You can't just seclude yourself like that. It's not healthy. Also, you promised you'd go with me on a special little outing."

He had? When had he-?

...Ah. Right. That.

"Listen, Shorty. The expo only happens twice a year. And you promised that if I missed the last one to go with you on that bullshit business trip, not only would you let me go this time around, but you'd personally go along with me!"

Ciel grimaced. He was very much regretting that now.

"Kiyota, listen, I'm sure you can understand that plans change. You can simply just buy regular manga inste-."

"Doujinshi just hits differently, Shorty."

"You don't even read much of either to begin with. You tend to just watch the anime adaption. Or that...anime porn."

"Hentai, Shorty. Hentai. And I like to read shit once in a while. And that once is now. Vamanos, Shorty, vamanos!"

"Can't you simply go on your own?"

"I'm your bodyguard. I have to stick by you. And you promised to go with. Plus, again, you've been down there for a week. Time to get out and see the Sun! And to be introduced to doujinshi!"

"I'm not really interested in-."

"I will break down there and drag you myself if I have to! Don't think I won't!"

Ciel scowled. He didn't think that. He knew damn well Kiyota would absolutely drag him by his feet.

"...Tch. Fine. Let me get ready first."

"Awesome! I'll be waiting."

The intercom turned off.

"...Tch. Damn it."

With a sigh of resignation, Ciel saved all his work and got ready.

Ciel left the underground lab and entered the base floor living area of the facility. He now sported a white-collar shirt and khaki vest with black tie and black blazer, with black slacks and black leather dress shoes. He straightened his tie as he approached his bodyguard.

"I swear, Kiyota, your eccentricity is grating on my nerves."

"Well, you could always fire me. But I do too damn good a job for you to do that."

Tch. He really did.

Kiyota Akabane. 24 years of age. 6'1" in height. Japanese. No living relatives, other than a younger brother who was currently away. Pale skin, short yet neatly combed and swept-back red hair, pale sharp golden eyes, slender build and sharp canine teeth. He wore a red shirt with a mahogany brown blazer, black pants, and white and brown shoes. If asked, women would state that he was a handsome man.

"Tch," Ciel scowled. "Let's just go already. I'd like to get back as soon as possible and start on the armor."

"The laser arms worked, then?"

"Flight stabilizers. And yes, they did."

Kiyota grinned a toothy grin. "Awesome, Shorty. You'll soon be the shortest Iron Man in history."

"Must you point out my height at every opportunity?"

"Yes."

Ciel deadpanned. Kiyota grinned.

"...Whatever. Let's get on with it. But if you show me something gratuitously lewd, I swear I'll-."

"Oh relax. I'll make sure you get a good first impression of the wonderful world of doujinshi!"

Ciel highly doubted that.

Ciel and Kiyota walked through the busy district of Ginza. People were just going about their business on this fine day. Nothing eventful, save for the convention the two were heading to. Some people did stare and whisper in awe when they saw Ciel, but no one bothered the two.

"So," Kiyota started. "I think you should start with a mecha doujinshi. Giant robots and stuff. It'll be up your alley and might even inspire you. And also maybe add an isekai for the hell of it."

"Isekai?"

"Main character gets sent to another world. Usually a magical fantasy world."

Ciel deadpanned. "You expect me to read something like that?"

"Don't knock it till you try it, Shorty."

Ciel rolled his eye as he and Kiyota entered a building and went up an escalator. He would much rather be back at the facility working on his armor. He was so close he could practically taste the achievement.

"If you insist. But I make no guarantees that-."

SMACK!

They both stopped and blinked, then looked to their left. They found a Japanese man who was on his back on the ground, groaning and twitching in pain, sporting a bruise on his forehead. His phone with some magical girls sticker on it lay at his side. Ahead of the man was a pillar that had a sign in Japanese that said "Look ahead". It didn't take a genius to figure out what happened.

"Kids these days, huh?" Kiyota sighed to no one in particular. "Always keeping their faces in their phones. Never watching where they're going."

"He's a grown man."

"That makes it worse."

"I didn't say I disagreed."

Kiyota chuckled and knelt down beside the guy and snapped his fingers in front of the man's face.

"Yo, pal! You okay?"

The man seemed to be in some daze for a bit before abruptly sitting up and clutching his forehead.

"I'll take that as a solid 'maybe'."

Kiyota picked up the man's phone and inspected the magical girls on the back of it.

"Seems like you're a fan of magical girls. You wouldn't happen to be going to the doujinshi expo, would you?"

After regaining his senses from hitting that pillar, the man looked a little too proud when he answered.

"Damn right, I am!"

Ciel deadpanned at that, while Kiyota appreciated the pep. He helped the man up with a grin.

"Neat. So are we. Name's Kiyota. Kiyota Akabane. Short one here is Ciel Orion Greystoke. Please hold your shock and awe, everyone."

Ciel's eye twitched at the 'short' jab, while the people around whispered about the appearance of the famous heir.

The man lazily grinned. "I'm Yoji Itami. Nice to meet you."

"Better then how your face met that pillar, right?"

Itami grimaced. "Ehehe...yeah."

"See, kids? This is why you should always look where you're going."

Ciel deadpanned. "There are no kids around."

"There's you."

"I don't need to be told that."

"Well, you just got told. What're you gonna do about it?"

Ciel's eye twitched again at Kiyota's troll grin. He scowled and turned to go ahead.

"Tch. Whatever. Let's just get this over wi-."

SMACK!

Ciel was cut off when he had the same mishap Itami had: running face first into the pillar. The "Look Ahead" sign in Japanese seemed to mock him as he lay on the ground, semi-conscious. Kiyota was certainly mocking him.

"Ha! Guess you did need to be told, huh?"

Itami gave a sympathetic look. "I feel your pain, kid. I really do."

"Well yeah, you smacked into that pillar yourself."

"Yeah, but that's in the past now."

"That was literally two minutes ago."

While Kiyota and Itami had this little "banter", Ciel seemed to be having some sort of vision.

There was a beautiful forest. On a large tree stood an elf woman in green as her blonde hair flowed with the blowing wind. Her eyes closed in content.

"Is that...an elf?"

He only even knew of elves because Kiyota forced him to binge the Lord of the Rings movies...the extended versions...in one day.

He still debated whether it was a waste of the day or not.

He would admit, however, that this elf woman was beautiful beyond compare.

The vision then changed to a small clearing with a waterfall in another forest. There were two people that looked like wizards. Again, curse Kiyota for making him binge those movies in one sitting.

One was an old, bearded fellow with a staff and pointed hat, the other a rather pretty girl with blue eyes and blue hair. Likely a master and apprentice. Still, he couldn't help but be captivated by the girl.

"And now...a wizard?"

The vision then shifted to a large rock formation in the middle of a wasteland. Atop said formation was a girl dressed in red and black, and wielded a large purplish axe-like weapon. She would leap off the rock formation and fall below, as though she were about to attack.

Ciel had often heard Kiyota talk of different types of characters from Japan. And due to his memory, he unfortunately remembered what this one resembled based on her appearance.

"That's supposed to be a...gothic lolita, right?"

"I prefer goth loli."

He inwardly grimaced when those two words were uttered. As well as the unwanted thought of what Kiyota might say in response. Regardless, like the other two, he found this girl to be absolutely beautiful.

But Ciel couldn't help but wonder: why was he seeing these three?

"Yo, Shorty. Earth to Shorty! Wake up!"

Ciel abruptly sat up and clutched his forehead, gritting his teeth. Kiyota helped the heir up.

"You alright? Hit your head pretty hard there."

"Tch," Ciel scowled. "I'm fine. Stupid pillar."

"Blame the architects. Anyway, that's good. We're joining Itami since we're going to the same place. We'll be the three amigos!"

"We just met him."

"And he seems like a chill dude. Ain't that right, Itami?"

"Well-," Itami started.

"See? Plus, he's a hardcore otaku apparently. He'll be able to give some good recommendations for doujinshi for you to read."

Ciel's eye narrowed, but he sighed and dusted himself.

"Hmph. Very well. Let's just go before anything else happens."

Something was happening, unfortunately.

In another part of Ginza, a mysterious gate a suddenly appeared out of nowhere. People stared in confusion, wondering where it came from. And if it was for a movie they weren't told about.

Things quickly took a shocking turn when freakin' dragons with Roman-like soldiers riding them suddenly flew out. Followed by an invading army of other soldiers, as well as creatures that definitely weren't human. Orcs, goblins, minotaurs, and so much more.

A war horn was blown. And the army charged with a war cry.

The "three amigos", as Kiyota now dubbed them, talked as they approached another escalator.

"So you saw an elf, a wizard, and a goth loli?" Kiyota asked.

Ciel nodded. "Right."

"Hm," Kiyota hummed. "That's definitely a vision to have when you knock yourself out. Hey, Itami, did you see anything when you knocked yourself out?"

Itami shrugged. "Can't recall. Think I was just dazed."

"Oh come on, dude. Just think a little."

Itami frowned as he decided to give it a little more thought.

"...Nope. Drawing a blank."

"You suck. And so do magical girls."

"Hey!"

"Yeah, that was out of line. I take it back. Magical girls don't suck."

"Thank you."

...

"Hey, wait a minute-!"

Chuckling at Itami's indignation, Kiyota turned back to Ciel.

"Anyway, I think this vision is a sign. A sign that you actually will like isekai! I can recommend one or two, and I'm sure Itami can name several more-!"

Ciel rolled his eye and looked out the glass window as Kiyota went off on a tangent and Itami looked through his phone for more information on the expo.

The heir wasn't sure he wanted to call what he saw as a "vision". He didn't believe in that sort of thing. But it was either that or call it a hallucination. And his state of mind was perfectly fine. Regardless of how late he stayed up on his passion project. Or how much Kiyota aggravated him. So, a vision it was.

He frowned in thought. Why would he have a vision of three girls, though? What was the point? Perhaps it was a sign as Kiyota suggested. Though he doubted it was a sign for his potential opinion on isekai. But if that was the case, then wha-?

Fwoom.

Ciel blinked. And blinked again. Why? Because he could have sworn he saw a dragon flying by in the distance. But that couldn't be-?

Fwoom.

Aaaand, there was another one.

...

Huh?

Before he could ponder any further, he was pulled off the escalator.

"Hey, Shorty?" Kiyota asked. "You spaced out a bit. Something wrong?"

Ciel pursed his lips. "No, just...did you see anything outside just now?"

"Well, I saw some dragons flying by. Just my schizophrenia acting up."

Itami hummed. "Yeah, I could've sworn I saw something too."

...

"Wait, you have schizophrenia?"

"Don't worry, I'm chill."

Ciel frowned. All three of them saw it? That couldn't be-?

Fwoom. Fwoom. Fwoom.

And that was three more dragons with Roman-like soldiers riding them that flew by. All three of them seeing it this time. There were also now some screams of panic from outside as people ran away.

...

"W-What the-?!" Itami started.

"Holy shit, I'm not hallucinating this time."

"This time?!"

Ignoring the two, Ciel quickly pulled out a closed tablet and extended it. He quickly started inputting data and hacking.

Itami blinked. "Never seen a tablet like that."

"Prototype," Ciel responded. "Likely won't be mass produced for another couple years or so."

His hacking done, he now had access to any and every street camera in Ginza. He scrolled by each feed, seeing people running and dragons flying. He finally found something else.

An army. Roman-like soldiers in the thousands, as well as what looked like creatures straight out of a fantasy world. All charging and killing innocent people. Beheading them and cutting them and smashing their heads open with clubs. A few fantasy creatures even bit some faces off. Very violent and bloody.

The three could only stare in shock, not believing what they were seeing. Kiyota found his voice first and described the situation in three simple words.

"Holy fucking shit."

A/N: And there! Seems like a good place to end it on. Next chapter will cover the invasion and the immediate aftermath. May or may not cover the three months as well, just to get to the fantasy world faster. Depends. I just write what I write.

Anyway, hope you all liked this start. Ciel and Kiyota will have an interesting dynamic. And Ciel is the one to have the vision instead of Itami. And unlike Itami, he actually remembers it. Photographic memory, lol.

And yes, I took Ciel Phantomhive and Karma Akabane and changed things up for them by a lot. Might be lazy, but eh.

If you liked this and want to be kept up to date, be sure to give a follow and favorite. Feel free to leave a review while you're at it. I'd love to read them.

See you in the next update.
