Kawakami sighed to herself as she started homeroom.
"We have a new student starting today," she announced, all too aware of his record and that the entire class likely already knew as well, the rumour mill in the school having become just that effective in the past few years. "If you would introduce yourself…"
"Of course," Ren answered, stepping forward. "My name is Amamiya Ren, and I'm sure you have heard about my criminal record."
This wasn't how Kawakami was expecting this to go.
If she'd realised he was about to bring that up, she would have stepped in, taken care of bis introduction herself.
As long as the record wasn't confirmed, surely the class would have given him a chance.
"I actually have a recording of the incident that led to my record," Ren continued, getting his phone out.
By the time Kawakami realised what he was doing, the video was already playing.
"... And here's my normal route home," came Rens voice from the phone, only to be cut off by a woman screaming.
The video showed the familiar enough (from all his near-constant campaigning) politician Shido harassing a woman, and Ren running up to intervene, dropping whatever online video content he'd been planning.
He got the woman clear without touching Shido, only for the politician to trip, injuring himself.
"Damn brat, I'll sue!"
Ren stopped the video and dropped his phone back into his pocket.
"So, any questions," he finished with a smile.
It took a moment, before near enough everyone raised a hand.
Including, to Kawakamis embarrassment, her own.
