What happened after the Mount Tantiss rescue mission? Another fix-it for TBB S2 ending.

Part of Fandom Shorts series / The Bad Batch Shorts series Fluff, angst, retcon, a fix-it for TBB S2

I've got you, always! The rescue mission was behind them. It had been a tall order to say the least. Getting all those missing ones and more, back. Something of a win for the clonehood, the clone rebellion for sure.

But when all the hoopla, all the cheers, the victory celebration died down, there were still open wounds in dire need of healing. Not those which could be easily taken care of with some bacta. Rather those, deep inside of those surviving.

Tech, Omega and Crosshair.

Sure, the three missing members were back with the Batch. Tech, having been thought dead, had risen from the very state. Not that he had really died, as it turned out, Hemlock, had been lying all along. Only wanting the genius for his own experiments, trying to keep the rest of the Bad Batch at bay.

There was so much the three had endured during their time in captivity. The medical experiments inflicted on them. Torture, to be more exact. As it was, the three enhanced clones had been on the priority list of the good doctor's for sure.

And so, being rescued, did not wipe away all the bad things having happened to them.

Omega, never the one to hide her true feelings, her emotions was in a far better place where healing was concerned. Having sought and gotten solace from Hunter, Echo and other clones as well. The kid usually seeking out a shoulder to lean on, a warm lap to sit on when the horrors hit. Rex himself having sat with the girl at one point, while she had broken into tears. They were all there for each other. The clones were, having shared in the similar fate, even those who had not.

Tech, always the analytical, the one for explanations for most things happening around them, was a bit of a tough nut to crack. But with the right ambience, the perfect words spoken by none other than Wrecker, as the others too had tried. Still, in the end it turned out to be the powerhouse of the group to break though the barriers.

The hugs, the soft words spoken while the tears finally fell. The ever present explanations never needed. As all it was in the end, was the warm embrace of Wrecker's to let Tech feel the sadness hitting him.

Crosshair… oh poor Crosshair!

He had the most difficult of them all. Having been gone for so long, being on his own. Never the one to seek the comfort of others. Not at least in a long, long while. Not since being a child. Crosshair must've sat there, in the darkness for the longest of whiles. The reality of what had happened to him and his kin hitting like a ton of bricks. The tightness inside of him however, never relenting. The tears never coming forth no matter how hard he tried. And try Crosshair did. Being jealous of the others of being able to cry their pain away. Leave it to Hunter though, to be the one able to reach out. Something not as unexpected, the two of them always having been close. Well… before. But now, Hunter being the one intentionally trying his damnedest to help the wayward sniper. Trying to put their past qualms behind and move forward. But before that, Crosshair needed to deal with the most recent stint.

And so…

"Cross."

The very name spoken coarsely. But the undertones of it did not go unnoticed by the sniper. Hunter could have easily been speaking so many more words in that one single burst, alas, those were not needed though. It never had been, between them.

Without a single retort back, Crosshair had grabbed onto Hunter. Latching to the scout with all his essence. Holding on to each other. The tears falling finally. The sadness slowly fading. The hope for the future already looking so much better, now that Hunter was by his side.
