The Destroyer
It was a time of peace, the world war had ended 10 years ago and people were finally getting used to a peaceful era. The economy was at an all-time high and citizens, militants and others felt safe, many people decided to start families, and as the population increased, so did the happiness in the country.
Amid all this tranquility Sally Jackson was in a horrible mood. She was being chased by a small army and she was getting exhausted. Her belly was swollen as she was visibly pregnant. The effect of a torrid relationship, her paramour was never seen again after that one night. She had cursed her hasty decision-making ever since.
The worst part was, that her powers weren't under her control they rapidly fluctuated and she struggled to use them for long periods of time. Her belly heaved, she felt like she was carrying a bowling ball. Again she set in another desperate sprint. Her muscles ached but she persevered. She could hear hell hounds shaping at her ankles. She took an abrupt right and ended up in an alleyway.
There was no escape. There was only one way out and that route was blocked by 40 monsters.
Sally sighed in acceptance that this was it, her final stand, she tried to summon her power.
The dark musty alleyway was full of darkness, shadows started moving towards her and she felt some amount of hope, just then the shadows dissipated and Sally Jackson knew she was going to die.
She unleashed her 2 knives, a gift from her mother, and stood in a defensive stance, she would not go down helpless. If she died, then she would take a few down with her.
With determination in her tried visage, she charged at the incoming horde, dead set on killing the horde.
Her feet moved quickly, well as quickly as she could while being pregnant. Water splashed all around her as she breezed past the dingy trashcans and dumpsters. Her knives glistered in the early light.
Once again she cursed the waterlogged alleyway, it was difficult for her to move. A hellhound leaped at her She ducked and a quick slash with her knife turned it into golden dust.
She drew her knife back and threw it at a dracaena. It hit her mark.
The floor was littered with golden dust as Sally scythed through the assemblage of monsters that had come to kill her.
But her luck did run out, Sally was visibly exhausted. Her body heard as she tried to catch her breath. She had just been kicked hard by an empousa. A Scythian Dracaena had gotten lucky and slashed her arm with a sword and Sally was visibly aching.
Just then her blood ran cold, and she saw a hideous visage, leading another group of monsters towards her fallen body. Her knives clattered to the ground as she accepted her fate.
She knew that she could kill it, but 8 months pregnant and without her powers, it would be near impossible for her.
A Manticore approached her laughing with an army of 100 monsters, "Give up legacy or NYX"
You cannot win, Bow down, and will give you painless death". Sally Jackson was exhausted but her eyes screamed deviance. She struggles to rise and pick up her knives.
Nobody noticed the sea green light emitting from Sally's belly, not even Sally herself.
She was resigned to her fate and just as was about to walk forward the ground exploded.
A magnitude 4 earthquake shook the alleyway monsters collapsed and in that havoc or chaos many monsters collapsed and in a poof of gold dust other foolish monsters advanced, they were determined to kill her. It was their last decision.
Many tendrils of water snaked through the alleyway running through monsters and distracting them.
The manticore decided that it was enough. It sent a volley of spikes at the wounded mother. Sally threw her knives, hoping to avoid being punctured. The knives deflected most of the spikes, but it wasn't enough. Sally closed her eyes, waiting for it to be all over.
She waited a few moments. when she didn't feel the pain of spikes embedding in her face, she opened her eyes. She saw a black shadow shield protecting her. The spikes were embedded in the blanket of shadow. She then noticed her belly was glowing with an intense blue-green glow. She gazed forward and she saw the manticore, found in a net of watery tendrils. The rest of the army was gone. Sally grinned and sauntered towards the monster. she whispered,
Did you think I would die that easily" as she sunk her knife hilt deep in the back of the monster.
2 months later,
It was a boy, Sally was overjoyed,9 of walking with a stomach the size of a bowling ball had certainly made her anxious, for when would be free of the heavy burden.
A tint baby slept next to her, silently sucking his thumb as he slept peacefully unaware of the world around him. She had named him Perseus. An apt name considers the havoc he wrecked both inside and outside her body.
The child's eyes snapped open, his mesmerizing sea-green eyes gazed at the world around him, his childlike innocence apparent as he gurgled happily. His mother looked down at him, a tired smile on her face and he chittered back, in adorable sounds only a baby could make.
If anyone took a look at his eyes, they would be taken aback, Sea-green eyes were extremely rare and the way his eyes brightened and dulled sporadically would further shock them.
If someone would just gaze at his eyes for an extended period of time, they would see a black undertone, flashes, or black permeating the blue-greenish tint on occasion.
His eyes literally glowed with hidden power, even as a small child he looked godly.
Small tufts of raven black hair, chubby cheeks, and a tiny button nose just accentuated his already admirable visage.
Sally Jackson looked down, her hazel brown eyes softening as a tired smile settled upon her face. her hazel brown eyes met his sea-green eyes and that was it, an unbreakable bond was formed
