PPG Ch.13 It's Thursday
The child with the crimson bow wasn't sure what was going on with her sisters, but she knew better than to interfere. Her sisters could take care of themselves. Most definitely. Like Bubbles, despite her sister's bubbly appearance, she was socially aware and knew more about people than the redhead could ever admit to. In contrast, Buttercup was more of a physically challenging being. Even if Bloosem had the upper hand in a fistfight, the petite brunette always found the will to keep fighting. However, seeing her bullied by her so-called step-brother didn't sit right with her.
"Blossom? What's wrong?" Blossom noticed her sister fixing her messy ponytail. "Are you still worried about Brick?"
"Yes, but I'm more concerned about your response to um... Buck, was it?"
"No, it's Butch. It's okay. I rather let him chase me than the other way around," her baby blues stared innocently at the redhead. "You know."
Blossom sighed at the absurd amount of "shade" Bubbles threw at her and Dexter's situation... "I see your point, but he's so-"
"Aggressively obsessed over me! I know! Isn't it great! By the way, you should hurry up and get dressed. I know you hate it when we're late for school."
"I am ready!" The redhead placed her hands on her hips. "There is no pleasing you, is there?"
"Nope!" The bubbly blonde went and started to rummage through her sister's drawer. "Here this screams, I am trying today!"
"Perfect."
Dexter's Mom dropped the girls off. "Have fun, girls! I already talked to Mrs. Jojo. You'll be riding with her to finish your projects... Don't get dirty! I can't have little boys running around making a mess... Behave yourselves! I love you!" Their OCD mother sprayed the van before departing.
"At least we can finally see if Buttercup's house is nicer than ours!"
"Why does that matter?" The redhead said as they entered the school. "From a financial standpoint, I can understand you want to see her being facially supported but I feel like that's not the case."
"Oh Blossom, you're too smart for your good. Look! It's Robin!"
"Hi Bubbles, Blossom."
"Hi, Robin," the girls said, simultaneously waving the brunette down.
"I'll be able to help out with the project after Mrs. Jojo drops us off. I'll be riding with Buttercup and her..." She hesitated. "Family."
"Okay, no problem. Also, let me know how their house is; I haven't been over due to a certain possessive brother." Robin gave a glance at an arrogant redhead already at his desk.
"No kidding."
"Right? Anyways come on! You don't want to be on Miss. Keane's radar before class starts. Trust me you don't want to be the new Butch."
Blossom never agreed more. The school day came to an end. Miss Keane rearranged all the seats due to the surprising amount of knowledge the two new students displayed. So they obviously couldn't sit together, not with Butch and Buttercup near each other. Miss Keane wondered if a new cut-off date for transfer students should be implemented...
At the end of class, the kids waited for their parents to pick them up. At the moment Bubbles and Blossom were awaiting the arrival of the sister's new mother to come pick them up. The blonde girl was curious about what kind of person Mrs. Jojo was. While Buttercup seems hesitant for her and Blossom to meet her adoptive mother. Bubbles knew her sister was always insecure about herself. Not being taken by Dexter's mom didn't help that either.
"Don't worry, Buttercup; your mom is still your mom at the end of the day. She'll love you no matter what! Who wouldn't?" It earned a slight blush from the brunette but a glare from a particular cross boy. The blonde sent him a little wave. "Hi Brick! I'm just complimenting her, not stealing her-"
Boomer swiped his hands to Bubble's mouth. "Bubbles! don't make him mad. I already have one brother to worry about..." At the moment, the said brunette was torturing a particular nerdy child. "Also, don't worry about meeting our mom; she loves girls-" Boomer's dark blues wandered to Blossom, "Beautiful ones too."
"Yeah," The blue eye girl was aware of the strange attraction Boomer had toward her elder sister... Poor Robin. "I think Buttercup might be a little... jealous of-"
"My sweet little Darlings!" A Bubbly blonde came in, grabbing the Jojos in a hug that they all couldn't escape. Bubbles noticed that red eyes softened while being pressed to Buttercup. Once released, the blonde woman focused on the other two girls. "Ah, you must be Blossom and Bubbles. Oh my! I love your hair. It's a beautiful color!" Blossom blushed a little, then she went to the little blonde, "I love your dress! Did you pick it out yourself?"
"Yes!" Bubbles did a little twirl. "I knew it was cute!"
"My, you're certainly right!" She patted her head, flicked Blossom's bow -much to her distaste- and glanced over at Buttercup. "Come on, Sweetie, let's show the girls to the car!"
The little blonde saw from that interaction alone that Buttercup was able to find a home without them. This brought a sad happiness in her, unlike Blossom who despite seeing the same event wished that Buttercup needed them more than they needed her.
Once in the car, Mrs. Jojo made sure that the girls were seated together while the boys were seated near the back. "I'm so glad! It's usually just me and Buttercup with the boys. Having you girls over will surely brighten the house with more of a sweet loveliness! Isn't that right Sweetie!"
"Yes Mommy," Buttercup felt her sister's eyes widen, and wearing silly grins on their faces. "Oh shut up."
"Whatever you say, Sweetie," Bubbles giggled and Buttercup stuck out her tongue. "Oh, hey Brick! Bubbles shouted behind to the suspiciously quiet boys. "Have you seen Buttercup's cool tongue trick?" She earned a glare but dismissed it. "Pretty cool huh?"
"Yeah," he said staring out the window. "It is a nice trick." Bubbles saw the blush appear on her sister's face. "Awe, Buttercup I didn't think you could turn so red! If only you could see it Brick she looks so cute!"
"Actually," the little blonde boy interrupted. "You should see her when she wears her little dresses! She's super cute!"
"You would think that sissy," Butch smacked his head. "There is nothing cute about that bitch."
"Language," {Side Note: I stole this from More Than Human by sbj's Blossom} Blossom shouted back. "What are you a psychopath?"
"Yes, thank you!" buttercup exclaimed.
"I like psychopaths," Bubbles gave the boy a smile. "I think they have a certain charm to them."
"Yes, and that is why people like Bubbles get murdered every day by psychopaths," Blossom input.
"Yes, and that is why Debbie Downers like Blossom never get the boy!" Bubbles added with another one of her "innocent" smiles. While Butch snickered adding on," Damn blondie didn't think you were that bitchy!"
"Oh my goodness, Mrs. Jojo, your son is using foul language."
"We're here!" Mrs. Jojo ignored the redhead as she parked. The whole ride she was zoned out ensuring that they got home safely, but had mastered ignoring her children's verbal squabble as it really was just children being children. "Okay, Blossom I'll take you to Robin's house, while Bubbles, you can follow the boys into our wonderful home!"
Mrs. Jojo walked Blossom to Robin where the girls greeted each other and got completely absorbed in their work. While in her house... chaos erupted.
-The Jojo household-
"Butch! Stop being a turd! And help them!" Buttercup screamed as she chased Butch, while Butch continued to run after Boomer for simply suggesting he be a team leader. Somehow knives got involved as Boomer really didn't want to encounter his crazy brother with a weapon that would be able to dismember him. The little blonde boy was very grateful to not have to be seen as a weakling in front of the beautiful girl with pretty bubblegum eyes.
Brick watched it all while the little blonde girl was immersed in the structure of the house. "Nice house, you guys have a lot of money."
"Gold digger," Brick commented as he left for the study room.
"Not until I marry your brother once he inherits all of this. Then I'll be an official gold digger. Unless Buttercup gets married-" Brick glared at her. "-And gives her inheritance to her favorite sibling. Hehe."
"Why would she give up everything for you?" Brick asked a bit more invested. "If you're not anything more than a nuisance invading her new life with me."
"Oh my gosh! You love her!"
"Love is for children."
"Yeah no kidding. You really do love her! I knew it! don't worry," Bubbles gave him a wink. "I'll help you out, it must be hard to get any alone time."
"No kidding," Brick paused at his statement, but it just made Bubbles squeal. Fuck this bitch.
"Okay, I swear I will get you guys some alone time! Leave it to the love expert! Bommer! Butch!" Bubbles bounced to the two and surprised everyone (except Buttercup) by kicking the knives out of the way Bubbles dropped the psycho into a hold. He normally would've beat the shit out of her but the look she gave him, with those bright blues eyes, gave him a feeling he didn't understand. For sure the look wasn't the most menacing he'd seen but for some strange reason, he enjoyed it. He twitched in glee but still held his confusion towards her. "Great let's go work on the project then we can all start chasing each other again! Let's go cuties!" She beckonded for the boys to follow her to the kitchen table.
"Why not the study room?" Boomer suggested in awe of his new best friend.
"Brick and Buttercup need a break from us, he's so handsome I might get distracted."
"He's not that good-looking," Butch scoffed picturing his arrogant brother. "He looks like a prick."
"Don't worry, I think you're way more handsome than him! But at least you're my partner so I can flirt with you all I want." Now to both the boy's surprise, the little psycho got red cheeks. Fuck this bitch, Butch thought grabbing his work to start.
"Boomer you help too! Or else I'll tell a pretty little red bird that you can't even stand up for yourself!" Boomer stared in awe then in disappointment, thinking, Fuck this bitch.
-In the study room-
"Buttercup your sisters will get picked up around eight. Don't forget to see them off. I'll be in the living room catching up on my drama if you kids need anything, okay sweeties!"
"Okay Mommy," Buttercup said and Brick nodded as she disappeared, closing the door behind her. After they two were able to focus on their project without any interruptions. It was getting dark out and Brick noticed it was... peaceful when it was just the two of them.
The redhead decided to twist her hair in his fingers. "You're hair looks nice."
"My hair? It always looks like this."
"I know," he brought it to his lips. "Your hair is always nice. Like your eyes."
"M-my eyes?" He tilted her head, causing her to breathe weirdly, making her heart beat slightly faster. "They're just eyes. Besides, you have nice eyes too."
The redhead's heart sped up. He started closing the distance, but she didn't seem to be fighting him this time. She just stared at him, with those beautiful emeralds of hers.
"O-M-G! I knew it!" Buttercup headbutted Brick; he didn't entirely fall back (due to practice) and looked annoyed at the squealing blonde. "I knew it! I knew it! You two are so cute!"
"S-shut up!" The little brunette's face was on fire. "I-it's not like that! Brick! Tell her!"
"Tell her what exactly? Nothing was going on," red demonic eyes gave a death glare at the annoying inferior blonde. "No thanks to you."
"BRICK!" Buttercup nearly screamed as she covered her face with her hands in total embarrassment. "I hate you!"
"Yes, because 'I hate you' means blushing."
"Oh my!" Bubbles glanced back and forth between the two bickering. "I'm so sorry! I'll leave you as you were." She closed the door, but the two ignored her and continued to argue.
"You're always like this! So... so..."
"Superior."
"Stubborn."
"Wow. Did the inferior one teach you that-" He barely dodged her punch.
"You don't talk about my family like that. Ever!"
"Am I not your family?"
"No, you don't act like family. You act... weird, not like a brother. I don't think. Psycho and Blondie, yeah, but you... you're different. I guess. I don't know..."
Since the mood was ruined, he plucked another book from a shelf and pulled her smaller frame closer to his. She fits so easily... "Just sit here and let me find some research, in peace."
"Hey let go!" Her struggle was to no avail. "How is me being here letting you research in peace?"
He shrugged his shoulders as his arm rested on the crease of her hip. Holding her close he continued his work. She kept fighting, but he ignored her. For 20 minutes she was in that position until she ultimately gave up. "Why don't you ever answer my questions?"
"Why would I?"
"To not be a jerk."
He let that sink in, his arm releasing the reins on her smaller frame, but she had already gotten used to his touch so she stayed with his arm wrapped around her. "I don't think I need to answer your questions. The answer is fairly obvious."
"You're still not answering my questions."
"Do you know what dense means?"
"Am I suppose to?"
"You should. Then you wouldn't have to be asking these silly questions," he grabbed her hair and kissed it. "You can leave. I'll finish summarizing the project, then we can present it tomorrow... Together. Now go say bye to your sisters. I think it's about time for them to leave now."
Despite her somewhat frazzled state after the sudden change in his attitude, she left. He sighed leaning back into the bench. What are you sighing for? No more like, WHO are you sighing for? That little wench? Who cares, I... just want to grow up already.
Mr. Jojo sat in his office, watching the monitors, glaring at the bastard son that he could see took after him, yet looked too much like Him. He got up and walked toward the library where the little demonic fuck sat there, with the audacity to be resting peacefully. "Brick," if his voice startled the demon-eyed boy, it didn't show. "Come to my office. I want to show you something."
The redhead got up and followed his father. While they went into his office his father turned his monitor and showed him clips. Clips that made the redhead's heart race and his blood boil. Those were his moments. His alone, the scene in which he was with his emeralds on display for the sick fuck to sit there and ridicule him. Mock him of the knowledge that he, himself, was not aware of. Being treated as an inferior being himself, only because the old bastard could make him. If his father's intensive look was to be intimidating, he was going to be outmatched by the redhead's retaliation.
"What is this?" He growled, earning a satisfied scoff from the older man.
"This is surveillance set up in the multiple nanny cams around the house. If you weren't aware your babysitter has slippery fingers, and your mother's open crotch... Needless to say, when I found that my children were being too cozy towards one another I needed to put an end to it. However, my efforts would've been in vain if not for the evidence I have stacked up against both of you. Now an option is to send the girl back to the orphanage and wish her luck," he wouldn't, "Or simply send you away. Only you. You excel in school what's a better education system to be put in place for you, than boarding school. Pack your bags, Brick, you're going to a new school starting tomorrow. I can't allow your disgusting tendencies with your sister to continue. You'll be there until you're 18 and be ready to leave by tomorrow at 0600 am, you'll be on a ship going to whichever school I chose and you won't know the name until we arrive at the drop-off zone." His cold green bore into Brick's red. "So you can not plan ahead and make any sort of arrangements with the girl. Rest assured, I will ensure that the necessary arrangements are made for your enrollment. Be advised that communication will be monitored to ensure you can't send pathetic little love notes. Child-" Brick couldn't speak nor make sense of any of this mess. His mind spinning, his anger wanted to lash out at the man before him, but he knew deep down he couldn't do anything. You powerless little bitch. Getting destroyed by your blood, how pathetic. He turned around and headed out the door. "-Don't forget. The monitors are still on, so make sure you go straight to your room after this conversation. Good night. Hope you're ready for your trip."
-In the driveway-
The little emeralds waved as her sisters were about to leave. "By the way Buttercup," Bubbles pulled her little sister to the side. "I'm sorry I interrupted you and Brick earlier. It must be weird having to sneak around. Huh?"
"Sneak around? He always does that stupid stuff."
"Always? Wow, he must really like you!" Bubbles squealed and jumped up and down. "A forbidden love! Like Blossom said!"
"Love? Brick doesn't love me. I don't even think he likes me. He just likes to mess with me. He can be a jerk sometimes."
"Oh sweet innocent little Buttercup," the little blonde kissed her "Who kisses someone they don't love? Hmm? Yeah, he's a jerk but maybe he's only a jerk because he doesn't know how else to get your attention. Besides he does treat you differently. And I barely know the guy, but I've seen it so many times!"
"Bubbles, we're leaving! Come on! Say your goodbyes and let's get going," the bossy redhead said entering Dexter's mom's car.
"Think about it, and if not you can always talk to me about love stuff later. Trust me I'm an expert on love."
"Thanks, Bubbles," Buttercup blushed and hugged her, "I do miss you and Blossom."
"We miss you too. Well, see you tomorrow. Bye, you guys!" She waved goodbye to Robin and Boomer who were happily talking as they waved them off.
"Okay kids it's getting late, say goodbye to Robin and come back in!" Boomer and Buttercup waved to their friend and headed in. However, the little brunette wanted to ask her brother one more question before bed. She knocked on Brick's door. "Hey Brick, can I ask you something?"
She waited but didn't hear anything. It's not like he's never barged into my room. She slowly opened the door and found him with wide eyes staring at her. She noticed his suitcase and bundles of clothes. "What are you doing? Are we taking a trip somewhere?"
"You didn't knock."
"So you never knock?" She noticed his face seemed a little paler than usual. "Hey are you okay?" She was about to walk in, and he quickly pushed her out. "What the hell you ass! I just wanted to ask you a question."
His breathing was hard and he seemed tense. "What... what is your question?"
"I just want to know if... you like, love me? Or something," Brick was staring at her like she wasn't as dense as he sought her out to be. "Hello? Are you okay? You don't have to answer me right now dude. I'm just a little confused. I mean you always do weird things, with no information so I'm a little lost. Brick," she reached out and he pulled back. For some reason, she got a little pain in her heart. "Brick..."
"Yeah," he said not quite looking at her. "I love you... you're my sister. Goodbye, Buttercup."
He closed the door in her face. Goodbye? She felt something drop in her stomach. "Goodbye, I guess."
The redhead's head rested against the door, hearing her footsteps walking away. A tear traveled down his face. For the first time in the boy's life, he felt something he never had before. Powerless. Not only against his father but towards the emeralds that would no longer be in his sight but continue to invade his mind.
You're my sister, he wiped the tear, hoping his father wouldn't see. But I still love you... so fucking much.
-The next day-
It was six in the morning. Brick Jojo was on a ship headed to London. While Buttercup Jojo was left alone. Pondering on the night before, if Brick really loved her only as a little sister.
TBC...
I'm sorry if it seemed rushed, but I now have more free time in my life and will be starting the next chapter with an older version of these two. Brick will be 18 and Buttercup 16 so I will be testing the waters. I will FINALLY have more steamy scenes without feeling guilty about their ages. Again this is fiction please don't think too much on this. Thank you for staying with this story!
