Sorry for my bad English.
We reach the chapter number 50. Let the fireworks fly to the sky and let's celebrate how long this fic has been going!
Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo!
And now, some serious talk. The series seems to be walking into a tightrope recently. RT managed contributed for it as well. Taking the series away from Youtube, leaving exclusive to Crunchroll for a year. The plot also seems to be going in a bad way for mostly of the fanbase.
The last volume I don't think it was bad but it was not good either. The last volume I feel like watching again was the volume 7 and you guys know how long has been since then.
I'm also not a fan of how they are handling the characters. I'm with those who think Jaune should have stayed as he was during the end of volume 9 and to be honest, I think they did wrong Ironwood's 'do what must be done' character. And I don't know if was positive or not make Yang and Blake a couple. It was really planned or was just to calm down some fans?
All in all, the series has been going through a lot ups an downs and at this point, I'm worried the viewers are just wanting to see the series end and never return. If this is the case, then RT will have a lot of problems once the series is over.
I said enough. To the fic!
-For the last time Ceodore, I'm not a pyromaniac. -Miles explained to his apprentice.
-Then why did you keep staring at the flames? -Ceodore asked.
-It is complicated. -Miles answered.
And he goes back to watch the bonfire. What is so complicated with the fire for his master to stare so deeply?
Ceodore took a deep breath as he stepped out of the Bullhead. It seemed a long time since he was in Beacon and despite his hostile classmates, he was already missing the place.
-Ceodore! -He heard Ruby squealed and he looks he going full speed with her semblance.
-Hey Ru-BY! -Ceodore exclaimed while being tackled by the hooded girl.
-I was so worried! I thought they would take you away! -She shouted, her face buried in his chest.
-Ruby, don't worry. -Ceodore assured. -They were just asking questions, they didn't plan to keep me in the cell.
Even with his answer, Ruby's eyes watered and he knew what was coming, so he put his fingers on his ears.
-I WAS SO WORRIED! WAAAHAAAHAAA! -Ruby screamed, bawling like a baby.
-Honestly, could you not act according to your position? -Weiss asked, stepping out of the Bullhead. -You are the team leader, so act as such.
-But... but... -Ruby said between sniffs.
-Grow up. -Weiss scolded.
-Now now, we all have been in a stressful situation. -Ceodore said, trying to calm them.
-S-sorry. -Ruby said and wiped her eyes. -C'mon! Let's celebrate your return with cookies!
-Cookies, don't you THINK-! -Ceodore could not finish his question once Ruby pulled him by the arm and dragged him away.
Weiss merely rolled her eyes and followed her team leader.
All the while Ruby ignored the look of her classmates as she held the apprentice by his arm. Most of them were hoping to not see him again after the military took him but there he was, defying their expectations.
Mostly heard and didn't believe when told he helped in the invasion and blamed him for the sight of what was now called The Miasma Grimms. Since they didn't know the White Fang had been making experiments with miasma, they thought Ceodore to be the only source in miles.
But even with those stares, Ruby held on to him as if she was afraid something would take him away once again. Cedoreo didn't know what to think of this. He had approached some ladies in the past but none of them was this close to him.
It made him a bit embarrassed. He didn't want to cause Ruby any trouble, knowing his reputation. But a look on her face showed how glad she was for having him back.
Weiss also notices how her team leader is holding onto the apprentice. She usually didn't pay attention to other girls when they were interested in someone, except that now Ruby was displaying that right in the open for her classmates to see. She knows Ruby would just brush it off but wondered if the students would try something. People can be stupid when they are afraid and so, they will do stupid things for the sake of their stupid thinking. She could only stay by Ruby's side if anything like that ever happened.
-Ruby?! -Speaking of stupid thinking, Yang approached the apprentice, already eyeing him with a scowl on her face.
She may have agreed to give Ceodore some space but when her little sister is not doing so, then the problem may return.
-Ruby, dear little sister, mind if we have a word over there? -Yang asked, pointing to the corner of the cafeteria.
Ruby raised an eyebrow but let go of Ceodore and accompanied her older sister. Ceodore saw that and turned to Weiss.
-Do you know what is this about? -He asked the heiress.
-I think you know, Ceodore. -Came the answer but was not from Weiss' voice.
Back to the sisters, Yang turns to Ruby with a stern look in her eyes.
-Just what you think you are doing, young lady? -Yang asked.
-Are you using a parental tone? -Ruby asked tilting her head. -Remember it didn't work when Father used it on you.
-Ruby, being his friend is one thing but THIS! -Yang said.
-What are you talking about? -Ruby asked, tilting her head.
Yang gestured with her eyes to Ceodore, but Ruby still didn't get it. Yang put both her index fingers together and started to rub one on another. Ruby still didn't get it. Yang sighed and made some smooshes while pouting. This is when Ruby got it and her face got as red as her cape.
-H-how did you... -She asked as she twirled her index fingers together.
-Oh please, it is not so different from how some guys look at me. -Yang's response earned a raised eyebrow from Ruby. -Anyway, what do you think people will think seeing you like that with... him?
-Depends. -Ruby began. -It is about who he is or about the miasma?
-And it matters?
-As a matter of fact, it does. If about who he is, well, he is the apprentice of the Dark Knight and one of the coolest people I ever met. He's friendly, funny, and brave, he doesn't care about the bad things others say about him, and he never did anything to purposely hurt anyone. The fact he is his apprentice means little when he's a good person.
Yang was taken back from how Ruby defended the apprentice. Sure, he's her first friend in the academy and the two of them get along well but she never defended something so thoroughly since a neighbor accused Zwei of messing his vegetables.
It was really Zwei, but still.
-And if is about his miasma, he already shows to have control of his powers. Sure, he may lose his temper but this makes one more reason to be his friend. He needs people to be by his side when it happens like Weiss helped him when he exploded and Pyrrha got to the infirmary. Something worse did not happen because we, his friends, were there for him. He already is putting himself under a lot of stress by attending Beacon, so if I can make his stay more friendly and pleasant, there's no way I will turn my back on someone I call a friend... and maybe something more.
Further discussion was pointless so Ruby turned her back and walked back to Weiss and Ceodore, leaving a surprised Yang rooting in place. When did she become so dependable for her friends? Or was she always like that and she underestimated her little sister? To be fair, she didn't expect much since she had been socially awkward since her first day in school.
She wonders if was because of Ceodore.
When Ruby got back to the table, she was surprised to see her partner in a pleasant mood. In front of her and Ceodore, a girl with green her smiled at them. Ruby had never seen that girl before and given what she just spoke to her sister, was surprised to see someone get so close to Ceodore.
-Hey guys, who is she? -Ruby asked.
-Your friend? -The girl asked.
-The first I made in the academy. -Ceodore answered and turned to Ruby. -Ruby, I would like to introduce you to Sylph. She's visiting the academy.
-Nice to meet you. -Sylph said and extended her hand.
-Nice to meet you two. -Ruby said. -You are who I think you are?
-Yes, I'm his daughter. -Sylph answered.
-His daughter? -Weiss asked.
-Weiss, -Ceodore began. -Sylph is my master's daughter.
-WHAT?! -Weiss couldn't help but shout.
She noticed the attention she got from her peers and quickly composed herself.
Back to the bullhead where miasma was being studied, Glynda decided to stay a bit longer in the company of her father. It was rare for her to get a reason to visit him given his condition. Despite Laguna insisting he was fine, everyone around him told him to lie down and allow those doctors to do whatever they do with people infected with miasma.
But it has been years since it happened and those scientists didn't seem to get closer to figuring out how miasma works, or at least properly.
So Glynda could only wait until they had some good news regarding her father.
-You are really his friend? -Glynda asked.
-Yes. It is complicated, but yes. -Laguna answered.
-But how? I don't remember ever seeing him in our ranch.
-Well, when it happened, I needed the opinion of a professional. Not to be rude but those so-called scientists don't seem to be going anywhere with their research.
Glynda knew this was going to hurt Ironwood a bit.
-So, you went after him?
-Not at first. When I was about to seek help it was when he appeared. You... were in the academy at the time, if you remember.
She remembers. Glynda was in the middle of her combat class before the professor at the time, a samurai, called her to Ozpin's office where he explained what happened to Laguna. She immediately went home and saw her father turn into a titan. Despite her worries, Laguna reassured he was fine.
But one year later, he was found to be infected and the citizen of Vale demanded him to be taken away. Glynda was surprised and hurt to hear that even Laguna's closest friends were the ones who demanded him to be taken away with the excuse it was for his own good.
But later she found them cheering their own lives and not needing to deal with, according to their own words, a man-size parasite.
Then perhaps, Laguna sees Miles as a friend for being one of the few people who can understand what he went through and treat him like a normal person. But Glynda wonders if he would still threaten her father in the same way if he was not infected with miasma.
-I wonder if Sylph was able to grow up in a healthy environment. -Laguna spoke. -Being his daughter may prove difficult for people to accept.
-By Ceodore's words, she seems to be doing fine. -Glynda spoke.
Unknown to them, a guard just happened to hear about what they spoke and immediately left to take the information to his superiors.
If they could not get the Dark Knight himself, then his daughter may be just as good.
With the television on, Terra watched the news as Saphron played with their son. His cheerful smile was something she cheered and wanted to keep as long as possible. But when the news regarding miasma came into the picture, her expression went cold. Terra knew how much this could mess with Saphron and was about to change the channel.
Saphron notices that and at first, has no objection. This is until the picture of the apprentice comes on the screen. It was the first to be shown to the public and when Saphron took a look, she ran to Terra and stopped her.
-Wait! -She exclaimed loud enough to scare Terra.
-What's wrong? -She asked.
Saphron didn't answer, her eyes glued on the screen looking at the apprentice's picture. She knew it was possible but if there was a chance, she wanted to take it. With her eyes burning with determination, she turns to Terra.
-I need to go to Beacon.
End of the chapter.
A poll was made to decide who would be Ceodore's, also knowns as Jaune, romantic partner in this fic and Ruby was chose by a landslide I think this is the word. I will try make them share some more moments since it was what the readers asked for. I'm not very good with this but I can learn I hope.
I also have been getting some mental blocks regard where to go to this story. There so much I want to do but I'm finding difficult in figure out how to reach there. I hope to go over this sooner since I already got what to do next while writting the end of this chapter.
And yeah, I will try include the only sister who appeared so far to see if it can get interesting.
That's all folks. See you next time.
