So guys, welcome back to the second chapter of the resilient Spider-Man focusing on the origin story of my original character Adam Chiang and his journey into becoming Spider-Man in his universe. In case anyone's wondering which Earth the story is set in, it's set on Earth-618, but I'm not sure if did exist in the comic books, and if anyone knows it does exist, let me know in the reviews. Also, if you're wondering if the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four exists on Earth-618, I can confirm that they do exist. And I can also confirm that Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Cindy Moon exist on Earth-618 too. Anyway, this is the second chapter, and we will get to see the Prowler very soon. In this second chapter, the field trip to the Empire State University and the spider bite. So this is chapter two, and let's get right to it.

About a week later, Adam heard the alarm blaring as he grumbled and turned it off.
"Five more minutes." he muttered.
"Adam! You have your field trip today!" Grace called.
The Chinese teen opened his eyes in shock.
"Oh, no! I forgot about the field trip today!" he cried.
Quickly getting out of bed, he puts on his glasses as he opened the bedroom door and raced to the bathroom to get cleaned up. After he finished cleaning up, he changes into a t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans before grabbing his backpack and putting on his pair of Nike Kobe Zoom 5 shoes. He then left the apartment before running to the subway station to catch the subway train so he could get to school on time for the field trip.
After arriving at school, he could hear one of his teachers calling out the participants' names right before Adam's name could be called.
"I'm here! I'm here!" Adam called as he panted.
"Nice of you to join us, Mr. Chiang."
Once the participants had been counted, they boarded the school bus and left Midtown High for their field trip. The Chinese teen looked out the window through the whole ride while listening to music on his Walkman. After arriving at the ESU's campus, Adam removed his earphones and wrapped it around his Walkman before stashing it in his pocket and leaving the bus to join the rest of his classmates for the tour around the campus.
"Good morning. I'm Dr. Peter Parker, and I'll be your tour guide for today." Peter Parker, a 40 year old said aloud to the tourists.
Peter then took the students around the building before leading them to the science wing.
"Here, we have nine hundred genetically modified spiders in this cage." Peter continued.
"Um, excuse me, Dr. Parker. There's eight hundred ninety here." Cindy Moon, one of the students pointed out.
Raising his eyebrows, Peter inspected the cage and realized that Cindy was right.
"Oh, my apologies. I'm sure one of them will turn up soon enough." he said.
Unbeknownst to everyone, one of the escaped spiders, with the number 618 printed on its back, was slowly descending from its web to the ground and started crawling towards Adam. Peter then continued the tour before the spider crept its way up on one of Adam's shoes and crawled around his jeans.
"My leg's itching." Adam muttered as he scratched his left leg.
Not long after, right before the tour could continue, Adam looked at the spider, having crept up to his right hand. The Chinese teen suddenly gasped and before he knew it, the spider bit him.
"Ow!" Adam cried out, as he flung his hand before the spider began to crawl away.
His cries drew the attention of Peter and the tourists.
"Are you okay there, young man?" asked Peter, concerned.
"My name's Adam, and I'm fine. I found your missing spider, Dr. Parker." Adam replied.
Peter looked down at the crawling spider before picking it up and putting it back in the cage, much to the disgust of the tourists.
"Well, that concludes our little tour around the science wing. Dr. Connors will show you around the cross species for the rest of the hour." Peter announced as he left the group.
Later, Dr. Curt Connors arrived and formally introduced himself to the group that he was assigned to look after for the rest of the hour. The group followed him as he explained what he and his assistants were working on. Adam started having a hard time keeping up with his group as he was overwhelmed with nausea.
Moments later, after the field trip ended, Adam and his classmates were on their way back to Midtown High to meet with their parents. Adam was leaning by the window as he got more nauseous than before. Rebecca, who was sitting beside him, started to feel concerned about her friend.
"Are you okay, Adam?" she asked.
The Chinese teen shook his head before he replied, "I don't think I'm feeling well."
"Do you need me to help take you back to the apartment? Because I live in the same building and my unit is just across from you." she offered.
"You live in the same apartment in the East Village district?" he asked, feeling surprised that his friend happens to be his neighbour.
"I'm full of surprises." she replied.
After returning to Midtown High, Adam and Rebecca walked to the subway station while she helped him watch where he was going and avoid bumping into bystanders along the way. Returning to the apartment in the East Village, Rebecca continued to help Adam by walking him to the elevator and taking him to the opposite unit.
"Here we are." she said.
"Thanks for helping me out." he said, still feeling dizzy and nauseous.
"I'll see you in school tomorrow?" she asked.
"If I'm feeling better by then." he replied.
Meanwhile, Daniel and Grace were in the kitchen, as Daniel was changing the lightbulb before hearing the door opening and Adam stepping inside and taking off his shoes.
"Hey, how you doing, bud? How was the field trip?" asked Daniel.
"Uh, I'm not feeling well. I think I'm gonna go to my bedroom and sleep for today." Adam replied.
"You're not gonna eat dinner?" asked Grace.
Adam shook his head as he walked to his bedroom and closed the door behind him.
"He wasn't like this in the morning, right?" asked Daniel, feeling concerned.
Grace shook her head before she joined her husband for dinner without their son after changing the lightbulb. Returning to his bedroom, Adam puts down his backpack before he took off his shirt and his glasses and placed his glasses on the table while walking over to his bed and laid down.
'Please make it stop before I end up throwing up all over my bedroom.' he shuttered.
Unbeknownst to him, Adam's DNA and genes started to change as a result of the spider bite while his mind is filling with voices.
The next morning, the alarm blared as Adam grumbled and groaned as he struggled to press the stop button before he finally reached and pressed the button to turn it off. The Chinese teen looked at his right hand and somehow, the spider bite was no longer there and he started to feel better. He reached for his glasses and puts them on before looking at the mirror. He then started getting a weird feeling before taking off his glasses and putting them back on. Realizing that his vision has gotten better, he puts his glasses back on the table. And right before he can get ready for the day, he looked at his reflection and realized he has abs.
'That's weird. I never went to the weight room in school.' he thought.
His thoughts were interrupted as he heard a knock on his bedroom door.
"Adam?" Grace called.
"Yeah?" he asked.
"Are you okay in there?" she asked.
"Uh yeah, I'm fine." he replied lamely.
"Are you feeling any better this morning? Or any new changes?" she asked.
"I'm feeling better, but nothing changed." he said.
"Well, you better hurry up or you'll be late for school!" Grace reminded.
Adam's eyes widened. He was too busy admiring his sudden body change before he realized he had school today. Quickly changing into a t-shirt and a pair of navy blue denim jeans before grabbing his backpack, Adam opened his bedroom door and raced to the kitchen.
"Hey, bud. I thought you were sick." Daniel reminded.
"I'm feeling better actually." Adam corrected with a small grin on his face as he grabbed a toasted bread and ate it.
"Hey, your mom left last night's dinner in the fridge, and she said you can have it when you come home from school." Daniel called.
"Last night's dinner, got it." Adam agreed.
Going over to the door and putting on his Nike Kobe Zoom 5 shoes, he left as he closed and locked the door behind him before hearing someone coming out from the opposite unit across from him.
"Hey." he called.
Rebecca gasped before turning around and looked at the person who called her.
"You scared me." she said as she placed her hand close to her heart.
"Sorry." he said sheepishly.
"So, are you feeling better from yesterday?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'm feeling better. I guess the nausea had finally faded away." he replied.
"You're not wearing your glasses." she pointed out.
"Oh, I don't think I'm gonna be needing them for a while since my vision has improved." he said.
"You did look like a nerd while you were wearing your glasses." she teased.
"Is that a metaphor?" he asked, with a slight grin on his face.
"Come on, we should go before we're late for school." she replied, with a slight smile on her face.
The two friends then left the apartment as they walked to the subway station. And unbeknownst to them, Cassandra Webb and Julia Carpenter were secretly watching Adam, now aware that he was bitten by the radioactive spider during his field trip to the Empire State University.
"Looks like that Adam Chiang kid is a couple of steps closer to embracing his destiny." Julia commented.
Bringing out the gizmo, Cassandra contacts Miguel O'Hara, the leader of the Spider-Society.
"Miguel, it's Cassandra. The kid Adam Chiang is getting a couple of steps closer to becoming Spider-Man in his universe." Cassandra reported.
"Good, keep an eye on him. Because he'll be a good addition to our cause to protecting the multiverse from collapsing." Miguel ordered as he ends the call.
