Chapter 10: Heist
"A train?" Onion asked Tuf with a confused look.
"A train." Tuf said to Onion with a smirk.
"Ol' Bill has a shipment running through out to the west of here and I want to know what's on it." Tuf stated to the group.
Luna, Friday, Surprise, Tuf, and Onion were now in a diner in town discussing what Tuf had planned and as Tuf told them the back story of what happened some time ago as to why the chain of events had played out as they did and how Billy Harrison had used the system to set forth in motion the bounty that Luna and Friday had picked up from The Order, their bounty job office.
It was clear to the group at this point that Billy Harrison was very power hungry and would stop at nothing to get what he wanted, even killing of innocent people.
" I do have one question though." Tuf stated to the group causing everybody to look at him.
" Why help me with this? This ain't y'alls fight." Tuf asked the group with genuine curiosity. Only Tuf had a stake in this, but the others didn't at all it seemed.
" He's a bad man that uses his power to hurt others" Onion stated to Tuf.
" He used the Order to do his dirty work and it was us who picked up the bounty on you." Luna said with Friday nodding her head.
" If he is as power hungry as you say, then he has some serious credits to his name. Credits that I could use for better purposes." Surprise said.
" Fair point." was all Tuf said to the answers he was given.
" So how do you know about this shipment?" Surprise asked.
" I have my ears to the ground and people in towns that keep me updated on what's going on with anything I want to know about." Tuf replied back to Surprise.
" So, when do we leave?" Onion asked.
" First, we need supplies for the trip. " Luna replied to Onion but also making Tuf look at Surprise with a confused look, Surprise looking back at Tuf and just shrugging his shoulders.
" She's right, we need water, food, and medical supplies." Friday stated to Tuf and Surprise.
" It's not but a day's walk and I'm sure we will find what we need along the way." Surprise stated back to both Friday and Luna.
" Yea, we can find what we need along the way, besides the train won't wait around for us to hit it when it's not moving." Tuf argued back to Friday.
" Even still, it would be unwise to hit with little to no provisions at our disposal." Onion chimed in, making sense of the situation. Tuf just threw his hand up in defeat and Surprise just rolling his eyes.
" OK, ok, ok. Let's make this quick then. You four go get whatever you all need." Tuf said to Onion, Luna, Friday and Surprise.
" What about you?" Onion asked.
" I'm going to go get some precious metals." Tuf answered Onion with a grin causing Luna, Onion, and Friday to wonder what Tuf meant by that but making Surprise chuckle a little.
"Precious metals?" Onion asked with a confused look.
" Brass and Lead." is all that Tuf replied.
As the group all prepped for the journey that they would embark on, miles away at a factory train station. A train was being loaded with all sorts of various supplies that was owned by one Quick Billy Harrison. What the train had on it was anybody's guess but all the five knew was it was important to the power-hungry mad man and if he got the shipment then it wouldn't be good for anybody.
As the group headed out to find the shipment and stop Quick Bill from his stranglehold over the people. As the day turned to night, the group settled down just outside of the small town where the train was to be at. The group had set up a small camp hidden back from the town, the town itself was a more industrial style town. large cranes and railways heading in all directions. cargo being moved in and out daily as it was a supply hub for most towns in the area and had a reputation of being well guarded due to all the valuables that came and went through the hub.
"So how are we going to take the train?" Surprise asked Tuf.
"I don't know, I was just thinking we rush in and shoot everyone between us and the train." Tuf stated back to Surprise as he looked over one of his revolvers.
"That's a terrible idea." Friday said with a worried look.
"What if we stealth in and take it when no one is looking?" Onion suggested to everyone.
"We would be in and out before anyone notices and nobody has to get hurt or killed." Luna said, agreeing with Onion's idea.
"As fun as it would be to just go in full bore. I have to agree with Onion. There are far too many guards and staff around for a full assault and there is just five of us." Surprise said to Tuf.
"Just taking the train would hurt Bill but we have to send a message that working for him is bad for business. If some innocents get in the way, then we will deal with that when it arises." Tuf said no paying any thought to what the others had suggested.
"Look, I'm all for a payday and scrapping with the best of them but we have to consider the best course of action here. If we go in full force, then surely the train will take off." Surprise stated to Tuf as to get his attention from just causing mayhem.
"Y'all think y'all can get in unnoticed and hop in a train, start it up and nobody will notice not one thing out of place?" Tuf asked now looking at everybody with curiosity.
"I bet we can do it." Onion answered before anybody else could.
taking a moment to pause and contemplate what everyone was suggesting. Tuf let out a disappointed sigh but nodded to everyone, letting them know he was onboard with this idea that Onion had but just one problem had still remained. They all knew how they would execute this plan, but they still had no plan.
"How would we go about sneaking everybody on board the train though?" Friday asked the obvious question.
Everybody was confused as to how this would take place for a few seconds then suddenly Surprise smirked with an idea. Looking at Luna then Friday then back to Luna again.
"We use them" Surprise said with a smirk drawing hard looks from both Friday and Luna.
"Huh?" Onion stated out loud clearly confused at Surprise.
Surprise turned to Tuf and looked at him.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Surprise asked Tuf still with a grin.
Tuf then looked over both Luna and Friday then back at Surprise.
"That might work." Tuf said with a chuckle know this was almost fool proof.
Luna had an angry look on her face as she didn't like the implications of what the two meant while Friday was concerned as to what archer and outlaw had planned but being both of them were in agreement, she knew it couldn't be good.
"You two will distract the guards while us three will snatch the train. Once that is done and we have the train moving in the chaos." Surprise stated.
"In the chaos, you two high tail it out of there and we will pick y'all up down the railroad a little way, but you have to be quick. Bills guards will be hunting us down for the train back and probably kill everybody here." Tuf added.
Not liking this plan, Luna voiced her concerns about how both Friday and her would distract the guards causing both Tuf and Surprise just to look at each other. without warning, both Surprise fist-bumped each other then looked back at Luna and Friday.
