as young 7 year old Luffy is walking around the forest. He is talking to himself.
dumb old grandpa, thinking I should be a marine. I don't want to be a marine. I want to be a pirate said Luffy to himself.
as he keeps on walking. He soon finds a chest on the ground. He opens the chest, only to find a strange looking fruit, as well a book.
not knowing what to do, he starts reading the book.
to his surprise it talks about said fruit. It's called a devil fruit, named the rumble rumble fruit. A Logia type, that lets the user create, control and turn into Lightning.
with learning about the powers of Lightning, Luffy decides to eat it.
with this devil fruit, I can be strong. With this devil fruit. I can be a great pirate said Luffy before eating the nasty thing.
after that, Luffy starts to feel powerful. His eyes start to spark with electricity.
cool said Luffy excited.
just like that Luffy senses a wolf in the bushes.
just like that, Luffy shoots a bolt of Lightning at the wolf, making it run away in fear.
this... I could get use to said Luffy. He then starts walking back home to where he sleeps.
As Luffy shows off his new abilities. He spots Shanks and his crew.
so that's why nobody said hi when we docked said Shanks with a calming smile.
Shanks, check it out, I have devil fruit powers said Luffy with a excited smile.
I can see that. Let me guess, the rumble rumble fruit, right? Asked Shanks.
yep said Luffy. I advise you to please be careful Luffy. There's no telling how powerful your Logia powers truly are with you using them said Shanks.

I've decided to be my own pirate. I'll form my own pirate crew and seek freedom and adventure said Luffy. Glad to hear Luffy said Shanks.
of course, in order to be the freest person in the world. I need to find one piece right? Asked Luffy happily. That's right Luffy. But you'll need training said Shanks.
I guess your right, I don't know my own strength sometimes said Luffy.
I'm sure Garp'll be a great teacher said Shanks.

Luffy sighed at that. Very well said Luffy.
just like that, the crew partied until they left the next morning.
It's been 10 years since Luffy began his training with Garp.
it wasn't easy. But he survived all his grandfather training.
he and his brothers survived it all.
after Luffy turned 17, it was time to leave dawn island.
[at the docks]
Luffy is wearing a white button up shirt. A pair of black pants. Some sandals. And a smile on his face.
Luffy steps onboard his boat and sets sail to the great unknown.
