A/N : Hello this is a new chapter hope you enjoy...

(ONE WEEK AGO)

Trust and confidence was as hard to come by as loyalty in the present chaotic environs. And yet she stood calling on every grain and mist of magic that susurrated within her. Ready and focused to pry the mind of one of the most powerful creatures she had happened upon, an arcana perhaps betrayed by her own much like Bonnie had been.

Her power made it an ordeal. The memories a disordered kaleidoscope of agony and torture. A haphazard assortment of love and parting and yet Bonnie felt every sentiment deep inside her bones. Rocking her, as tears slid down.

Agony as much physical as of the heart swirling inside, the one who called herself Caroline, resonated and throbbed within Bonnie's soul as she scried in her new partner's mind. It was chained to her heart like a barbed wire pricking leaving, bleeding pinpricks of broken memories. Sanity and insanity warring with each other for control within her new associate. Each successive remembrance was more tormenting and raw and yet it was all a maze except for one piece crucial to each puzzle in her subconscious, Klaus Mikaelson the Original Hybrid, the creature they all feared.

The spell thrummed, taking its toll and Bonnie fell to her knees as she saw her levitate and everything around them falling apart, pieces of wood being ripped, circling in a vortex around her and yet never harming either. The noise, the pandemonium around them, too much and blood began trickling down her nose as Bonnie tasted it in her mouth.

"Let go." A sinister yet calming whisper echoed.

She glanced at the one she had bespelled. A magnifique woman, an enthralling scene out of an enchanting painting, her blonde hair blowing, her aqua eyes turning carmine, the veins around them snaking mesmerising patterns. Her arms outstretched as if willing everything to shatter.

"Let go." The whisper returned, the taste of blood and death, tempting Bonnie unable to relinquish she murmured, "A little more…"

Arrows shot. Striking the bewitching arcana, cracking the fibres of her spell, severing their unseen bond.

An agonized scream tore from her mouth. Darts, and guns being shot from every direction, rendering both arcana unconscious. And then they captured them.

PRESENT DAY

Pain and torture, that's how they studied her. Helplessness thrashed inside her bound body, as she wrestled against the belt straps wound with electric wires. Needles and scissors. She battled against the familiarity of panic and ache, she was back. They would break her and hurt him. Nik, he was her peace. She heard his voice, fixated on it.

She yelled, fought but she was bound, strapped to the electric slab. Her mouth gagged so he didn't hear when she called out his name. Her hands reached for him but she could not touch his handsome face one last time. And she cried as they hauled away her hope and her heart.

Saneness returned and she struggled but they kept cutting even as she screamed in pain and yet just like before no one could hear her helpless pleas as her mouth was muffled.

TTTTTTTT

Bonnie was handcuffed, kept in a cage. Magic wasn't useless against metal bars but she was outnumbered. Multiple guards kept watch on her. Her hands had been bound in metallic bar cuffs, but her mind was free. She murmured an incantation it was flimsy they had her bound by other magic yet she pushed through, hoping to lift the spell that was meant to hide Caroline from Klaus.

She kept chanting, slowly unravelling the knots of the spell, piece by piece it came apart until she felt another one's magic reach Caroline.

Shouts erupted and with a smile and twist of her fingers, magic contorted the necks of the guards who were holding Bonnie captive.

TTTTTTTTT

A whirlwind, an invisible presence killing those who stood in the way of him and her, Klaus and Caroline. He dodged bullets, ire evoking new powers or perhaps ancient confined one. He lifted his palms and the metallic weaponry contorting in with grinding sounds. Guns being lifted from the sublunaries and pointed towards them. He charged with purpose and rage, his siblings by his side.

The abandoned facility, an old concentration camp, a known hell and a purgatory surged unwelcome disquieting memories.

Blurring and killing as he fought the enemy. Sublunaries bearing blue masks wearing large black cloaks, cowardice or perhaps an emblem of their cult.

Enraged, he let his monster loose as he ravaged everything in his path, until he was done.

TTTTTTTT

"Well this was fun while it lasted." Kol commented as he surveyed the ruins and bodies piled up.

"We need to find her and the witch connected with her." Rebekah remarked following both his brothers. Guilt and affection both had her accompany her brother. Klaus was oblivious to their mother's machinations and Esther had magically bound her from uttering the truth.

Klaus half attuned to his siblings' commentary. He heard voices resounding in his ears and he knew where she was.

TTTTTTTTT

"Unchain her." He advised the scientist as he began unlocking the cuffs and straps restraining her. Thankfully she was out cold as she had killed eight of their men the first time. His movements were shaky and he was petrified for his life. None of this had made any sense. The creature they had captured, the Arcana, was too strong for their tranquilisers but they had been working upon her for the better part of a week prodding and combing every part of her body to know the source of such unadulterated power carrying out The Leader's orders.

Fuck the orders he muttered to himself as he let the last chain lose. The Leader could eff himself in the arse, effing weasel had left them behind to die at the hands of the Originals.

He switched off the current running through the slab she lay upon when the scientist stopped him. "No, don't let her lose. My work…"

He kicked the scientist back and emptied his gun in the moronic scientist's body because he was mindful enough to know his survival rested upon him saving this arcana's life.

TTTTTTTTTT

A round of gunshots had him blur to the lab. Another stubborn memory made its way.

They kept beating him. Lashing at him with leather belts and shocks. He yelled more out of fury than the pain.

"Tell me. Can she read minds?" One fucker hollered in English and he couldn't prevent veins from pulsating and his fangs from lengthening. In a invisible flash he broke his restraints and bit the one doling out torture. Blood running down his mouth he looked around to see three sublunaries circling him.

"Nogaliniet mani jūs, nelieši vai arī tu to nožēlosi visu savu dzīvior. " (Kill me you bastards or you shall regret it for the rest of your life.)

Three grown sublunary men cowered at the young Arcanes threat.

And they let him go when the captor commanded, the one they called The Leader.

"You shan't be able to protect her forever, Young Hybrid." The leader called out from above, standing on a metal balcony.

Abhorrence and rage for his captor and love and solicitude for his beloved incinerated his insides. He extended his palms, levitating in the air. The vibrations, waves of boiling choler emanating from him, railings jangled noisily, water tanks bursting and the balcony that The Leader stood upon shook as an earthquake took over the lab.

And then Klaus was face to face with his enemy.

Pieskaries viņai, un tu mirsi. (Touch her and you die.)

His threat wasn't empty. Klaus squeezed his throat with a chain and he would have ended it all but his men attacked and fired. And the next instant the hybrid was unconscious.

TTTTTTTTT

He woke up to gentle hands touching his forehead. In the dim light he saw her golden hair and teary eyes. "Caroline." A murmur giving life to her aggrieved and terrified heart.

He felt a feathery kiss on his lips.

"Ak, Nik, es domāju, ka esmu tevi pazaudējis." (Oh Nik, l thought I lost you.) She leapt towards him and he smiled.

Her softness was soothing and tempting, he forgot his wounds and injuries. "Tu nekad nevarētu mani pazaudēt." (You could never lose me.)

He despised the tears that filled her beautiful eyes so he gently wiped them. "Jums nevajadzētu būt šeit, viņi jūs sāpinās." (You should not be here, they will hurt you.)

Feeling frustrated she pulled out of his arms. " Un tev nevajadzēja strīdēties ar aizbildņiem, lai viņi tevi pratinātu manā vietā." (And you shouldn't have picked a fight with the guardians so they interrogate you in my place.)

Seeing the bruises on his handsome face and his arms she felt wrath saturate her. And she knew he had much nastier ones on the rest of his body. They were young, perhaps naive and volatile but she knew her heart.

"Katerina man teica, ka tu viņus pārtvēri, kad viņi nāca pēc manis. Es tevi pasargāšu tāpat kā tu mani." (Katerina told me you intercepted them when they were coming for me. I will protect you the same way you protect me.)

She was standing too far away. He got up from the cot they had deposited him on, in the infirmary after he had passed out. Holding her hands he kissed them.

" Caroline viņi to darīs" (Caroline they will )," pushing past the lump in his throat he continued, "…. iznīcināt jūs, ja viņi uzzinās jūsu prāta spēku. Un es nevaru tevi pazaudēt. (destroy you if they find out about the power of your mind. And I can't lose you.)

This time she smiled. Tu nekad nevarētu mani pazaudēt. (You could never lose me.)

TTTTTTTTTT

The first thing he saw was Caroline stirring awake and the second a man hovering above her holding one of the chains binding her. With a cursory twist of his wrist he sent the man flying away, holding him captive against the wall with metal bars restraining his arms.

"I was the one who freed her." He shouted. Apparently too foolhardy for his own good. Klaus would have killed him instantly hadn't he witnessed Caroline attempt to get up and fall to her knees. Flanked on each side by each sibling he oozed power.

"I'll stake out the rest of the area see if any other threat his looming." Rebekah announced and blurred away.

"I'll go look for the witch." Kol hollered as he blurred away.

Klaus blurred her in his arms. And then as if gathering all her power she pushed him away.

Klaus saw the faint bruises at her wrist and fury bubbled.

She stepped back and something heart rending gripped his throat.

Caroline he knew was as essential to him as his own existence. She was the young blonde girl who had shared his youth.

Had been the one to hold him when no one else had. In that Sector where guardians had tormented them both she had been his friend and he had loved her more than his own life.

And now he shall avenge them, avenge that girl and boy who had been ripped apart by the makers and breakers of this supernatural world. He shall get her hope and her laughter back and then he shall torch each and everyone of them alive for hurting even a strand on her hair.

For a few moments she stared, as if attempting to discern what madness had surpassed.

Logic slowly escaping her mind. Fingers of panic licking inside her as she felt consciousness stumble away. She leapt towards it, struggling to hold onto it but it drifted out of reach like sand grains slipping out of her hands. And when her eyes flashed vermilion the monster took over, yet she fainted.

TTTTTTT

"You have exactly five seconds before I have your head, witch." Klaus's hands a choking cuff around her neck. Still battered and bruised with sedatives and magicks binding her own magic she couldn't fight him.

"Um… Nik I think for her to actually explain you'd have to let go of her voice box, brother." Kol felt an odd concern watching his brother squeeze the life out of the brunette witch.

With an unceremonious thump she landed on the floor and coughed. It seems everyone was out to kill her and she had, had more than enough, Bonnie thought. But she was too shrewd to take on The Hybrid when she had been weakened.

"We were captured by those sublunary men after my coven tried to kill me. I couldn't hurt her even if I tried because I owe her my life." Bonnie got to her feet. "I was actually helping her retrieve her memory." She rubbed at the dull ache over neck.

"Why?" Klaus questioned. Bits and pieces, flashes of his youth, some long lost life kept hammering at him. He knew he had been betrayed and torn apart from Caroline but the faces of his true enemies still blurry. Trust was unnatural for a being like him.

"Because I repay my debts." He admired her courage. The witch had come to Caroline's aid when it had mattered. It was enough for him to spare her.

"I'll spare you. But the magic you used on her to retrieve her memory I want you to employ it on me."

"Nik. " Rebekah blurred in the main hall. Keeping watch on Caroline hadn't stopped her from listening in on the altercation between his brothers and the Bennett witch.

"Are you insane? She could kill you." She objected.

Kol merely scoffed. Bonnie bristled at his easy dismissal of her magic.

"That's why you and Kol shall keep watch. I need my memory back. I know who she is to me but it is imperative I find out where it all started." He faced Rebekah.

"You'll lose control. And you know what happens when that happens." Rebekah tried dissuading him but knew it was a lost battle.

"Give me some credit little sister. I am some thousand years old. I have enough control to last for a few centuries." Then he turned and rubbed his hands, "Let's do this, Bonnie."

TTTTTTTTT

She was running, hiding and then getting caught. They were burning, bruising, electrocuting. Shrieks of pain erupting from her throat until she lost her voice and then returning. Healing and being broken again and again. A never ending throb, a vicious cycle of ache, both of body and mind and yet he didn't return.

She didn't blame him. She had wanted him safe. The woman, Esther, had told her if she cooperated they wouldn't kill him. She had run soothing hands on her hair, taken her in her arms like a mother would. It was strangely calming and yet Caroline was apprehensive.

Was she naive or just plain mad for commiting this suicide? Was this love or madness?

Guardians another group of sublunaries took over the Sector, Arcanes running for their lives but she couldn't, held by her promise of his safeguard.

They kept cutting, pricking each day unable to harness the source of her true power. Lacking in controlling her mind. She could take them but it was for Nik and his safety. She had to be complaint.

Days or maybe years had passed she was gradually forgetting who she was and what had she been doing here. Their experimentation less frequent now. They injected her with something that ached and burned, an electricity running through her body. Pain becoming second nature to her body and slowly she forgot what her name was, except when they called her Caroline.

Tied up and gagged she dreamt of escaping. From one sublunary to another she had been tied and picked apart. And then she slept until the day a guardian let her lose, she felt he was more, part arcane perhaps, he compelled her to hunt witches for they shall get her memories back.

TTTTTTTT

Elijah blurred in and saw Klaus shackled to chains as the witch pried and scried through his brother's mind. He saw his was sister, apprehensive and Kol clueless yet on edge.

Rebekah nodded at him, acknowledging his presence.

Klaus hissed in pain as the Bennett witch's chants grew louder and louder coinciding with his brother's screams. And then Klaus saw and knew all. He let out another anguished scream as he felt the pang of being ripped apart from her and being spelled upon to forget her existence.

An earthquake took over the mansion, metal clanging and twisting, the ground shaking. Things flying, glass breaking and windows shattering. A tornado violently swirling.

Then a sudden wounded holler and it all ended in a split of a second.

Soon as he opened his eyes he blurred away leaving four curious pair of eyes behind.
